Pretty good spot with a Sauerbraten almost as good as mine, and some legitimate Spezle. We were there for lunch. I recommend it.

Loved this place. A casual, woodsy, cozy restaurant. The veggie cabbage roll came with mashed potatoes. Healthy and tasty. The pilsner we had was dark and paired well with the lunch. The server was very nice. All in all, a nice comfortable atmosphere with good food. read more

My landlord and I recently heard rave reviews about this particular restaurant. Being that she is from Germany, and I have a heavy Polish background, we thought it was the ideal place to grab a bite this evening. LOL we were both totally disappointed. The reviews on yelp were high, the few people we talked to all gave a big thumbs up... We felt like we were missing something. Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes? Flavor was lacking. The cabbage rolls were mushy, the tomato sauce was canned. The pierogies were totally off... no no no!! The mashed potatoes were dry. And to boot, I only had a small amount of sautéed onion on my plate. It was disappointing. Wait staff was friendly, but awkward and seemed to be too busy to continue service on our table once dinner had been served. The restaurant itself is small, but kept clean and tidy. The decor was modern but kitschy, again not true to German, Polish, or Russian design. I ordered the lemon torte to go... Again, a disappointment. Typically a torte has many layers LOL this had two! Their saving grace was the simple fact that they had Hofbrauhaus on tap. One of my favorite beers! Despite our opinion, the restaurant stayed about 3/4 full the duration we were there. LOL that's pretty good for mediocre restaurant! Neither of us have plans on going back... But we were happy we at least have the experience. The food was a little too Americanized for our palettes. They have a nice selection of German cuisine. My favorites are the cutlets/ schnitzel, potato dumplings, and cucumber salat.

This place is a community staple and a gem at that. Owner is hilarious and makes amazing food. Try the soup, you'll love it.

I LOVE this place and the owner! I have been getting food "to go" from them since they opened. Unfortunately my family doesn't share my love of real food and only partake in frozen/processed foods :( which you will NOT find at Europa. So I usually get my food "to go" most times. I have dined in alone perhaps 3 times. Europa provides me with real food and MEATS! Authentic European dishes and I haven't ordered anything that I haven't liked so far. The owner reminds me of a grandfather. It is hard to explain other cultures and you are either open to them or you are closed minded. I love being taken in hand by an older person that is proud of their work and want you to not only enjoy their culinary creations but to experience new things. If you think of scenes out of movies with an elderly grandmother cooking and ushering hungry relatives into a chair and putting something amazing under their nose and telling them to "Eat!" ......this is what going there reminds me of. I hate that anyone would think of this man as rude or rough. My Mother passed away in May 2018 and while out preparing for a trip back home, we stopped in to pick up some comforting goulash soup for me. The owner and the waitress working for the day picked up on my total misery immediately, inquired about me and sympathized with me, even giving me hugs after verbally comforting me while I waited for my food. I clocked this new restaurant on a sunday drive a few weeks back, so tonight my wife and I stopped by and had a "gemütliches" dinner date. The good food and friendly staff was more authentic than the off-Leavenworth decor and music, but we had a wonderful time and will be back. I lived in Germany through my teen years, whereby I was cured of my love of meat and potatoes by year two; but that yellow stuff that comes out of jars and deceptively mislabeled as "sauerkraut" in this country bears no relation to what I remember. This came closer, and I was pleasantly surprised to find some good vegetarian options on the menu. Why have we not been here yet? So adorable and very authentic. We've traveled to Germany twice and the food is spot on. We took our 3 year old and server Lisa was so kind and patient with him. We arrived before 6 when many older couples came in and I'm glad we were early. Food and beer was amazing. Such a quaint place and great service, will be returning. read more

I am so confused because all these reviews are glowing.. I came for dinner . everything seemed cozy and kitch - Out of place Christmas and Orchestra music playing I'm spring . But unfortunately the food was sooo much worse than the bad decor. I ordered potato pancakes with applesauce and sour cream,and they arrived shredded to a pulp and absolutely soaked in grease. I felt a sick after a few bites. So sad, couldn't even taste the potato because of used grease flavor all over the plate. I question their kitchen cleanliness. I had been longing for authentic pancakes and instead I got greasy gritty pile of potato. I have been to Poland, spent time in Krakow and Poznan, I have had pancakes served up in each, and know that this is NOT the real deal here. I even ordered the dish because I thought "who could mess this up? " . Store bought applesauce too. I shake my head. Minimum 1 star for the kind waitress. Minus 4 stars for food, decor, and the grumpy man at the counter who wouldn't address me. read more

I was introduced to Europa by my brother since I moved here 2 years ago! The food and all the experiences I have had here have been nothing but spectacular. The owners remember us each time we enter and greets us with a huge welcome. All there food shows the love that is prepared into it, but my 2 favorites have been the cabbage rolls and the hangover soup! I am not a soup person at all but for some reason I always order there soups of the day to start my meals out. The Dill soup when he makes it is my next favorite. Wow! Amazing. We bought two of the platters and everything we tried was so delicious! The cabbage roll and schnitzel were our top favorites on the platters but honestly there was nothing we did not like including the beer. My husband and I just moved back to Maple Valley, we have not tried this place before but had had recommendations to try it because we love German food. We were not disappointed, we were greeted by an older gentleman that made sure we were comfortable had something to drink right away and continued visiting with us about his menu. I was a little chilled from working outside all day, and was admiring the table by the fireplace, So he moved us right there. Dinner was delicious! being that I am German - I had to try this place out and compare the food to my family recipes! It holds up! I love their pierogis and I really enjoy the cucumber salad. That is an easy one to get wrong and get it really wrong - but they do it so GOOD! I've only been here thrice so far, but this is now an obvious frequent choice for dining out. I've tried the Jagerschnitzel, Sauerbraten, and Rouladen. All were superb, as were the Kartoffelkloesse, Spaetzel, Sauerkraut, and Sauerkraut soup. The portions are large, meaning that after dinner and a beer (nice large mugs of good German beer; Dunkel, Hofbrauhaus Pils, etc.) I had no room for dessert. I'll try to pace myself next time so I can try the Strudel. Parking is a little bit wonky, it's in the back of the restaurant, hidden from view as you drive by. There is also parking along the road across the street, but please be careful if you choose that, some people drive a little too fast down 216th. The restaurant looks like it will seat about 32 in the front area. I do not know if they open up the back area during summers, the BBQ joint that used to be there long ago (Rooters, the owners of which retired after a long run) opened the 'patio' up for guests during warmer weather. The décor is nice, what I am used to seeing in German restaurants in the US, and they have a small fireplace going in the front area, which is really nice on a winter day. Bottom line, food is great, people are great, décor is great. This is a place to visit often. read more

Will never return. Brought a large group into his empty restaurant for a Kentlake Booster meeting and those that didn't order were charged a sitting fee... yes that's true and the place was empty without us. He has no sense of community or giving; just greed and up tight. Personally I'd like to see a community atmosphere, kind, customer service related business to return to this location. This is one of the cutest places I've been into. Very authentic and a substantial affordable menu filled from schnitzels to vegetarian options as well. The beers are German imports at what seems to be at least a 25 ounce pore. The summer salad was crisp refreshing and delicious. And the limoncello torte was to die for. A hidden gem. Didn't expect to find this in Black Diamond. They have a lot of vegetarian options and their lemon butter gravy is so good! The cucumber salad sounds simple, but tastes amazing and is really refreshing! Would be cool if they added Beyond Meat sausages or another veggie sausage to their menu :) read more

Friends led us to this place on a Friday night, the restaurant is cozy and small, so getting a reservation is a must. The choice of German beers is very limited and they were out of one and the other choice we tried was ok. I think there could be more variety especially, since local beer stores offer a good selection. We loved our soup starters, the goulash soup was delicious as well as the hangover soup. I personally wasn't to keen on a schnitzel without the fries (which is "the" common side in German restaurants), so I ordered the jaeger, to get some sauce for the spaetzle. The sauce for me personally was pretty bland and the spaetzle were a bit grainy instead of fluffy. I also got the chance to try the zigeuner sauce, but this seemed to be the same gravy, just some bell peppers added. This sauce is usually made with tomatoes and a red sauce, so not really authentic. The redeeming part was the cucumber salad, I could have had another plate just of that. The schnitzel itself was good, nice and crisp, I wish they would serve fries with it. It was a mixed experience for me, but with having lived in Germany for so long, I have a different expectation and it just didn't hit it for me. read more
