You really can't go wrong here. It's my go to spot. And everyone that works here is mad nice!! I live across the street and have had almost everything on the menu. My top 3, the crab sliders only available on sundays, the salmon dinner and the vegetarian dinner. Coconut rice, spicy broccoli, mac and cheese and green beans. I can't speak to their lunches but i'm sure they're just as delicious. For desserts, go extra and get the pudgies. The cakes are also great. They often have speciality cakes available, decorated for holidays or events such as a cake with the PR flag for the parade and a rainbow cake for pride. I've been making a conscious effort to eat better. The healthy options that don't break the bank AND taste good are few and far between for the Harlem delivery zone. Whole Foods hot bar is not for me because something about buffets completely gross me out. Enter Evelyn's Kitchen. Although I've never been to the restaurant I'm about 10 orders deep and now it's time for a review. Entrees - I've tried the blackened salmon (ordered 3x, so good!), baked ziti, lemon pepper wings, lemon chicken and marinated skirt steak. All winners except for the wings and that was only because the portion size was really, really small (5 wingettes!). They are starting to add Whole30 options and I'm super excited for that. Sides - if you are a vegetarian you must order here! I've ordered every side except for rice and brussel sprouts. The five spice wedges and mashed potatoes are the BOMB! My husband says the mac n cheese is creamy and delicious. The portion sizes of the sides are extremely generous. Desserts - All of their desserts are AMAZING! The chocolate brownie and s'mores pudgies are my absolute fave. Delivery - delivery always arrives in the specified time frame. All orders are packed well and the delivery team is always pleasant even after walking up all of those stairs in my building. My first order was placed during an epic rainstorm and they still delivered on time! I will continue to order from here because their food is delicious and can be healthy if you make good choices. From working with us to shape a perfect menu that fit both our budget and overall vision to responding to frantic last minute questions and requests with lightening speed, Ayala (the owner at Evelyn's Kitchen) and her team made us feel taken care of throughout the entire process. I also want to highlight the on-site support services they provided Celina, our on-site point person, was truly amazing. Went for the Chef's Table on a very cold Friday evening to celebrate my father's 75th Birthday. From the moment we walked in you could feel the warmth and care of the owner and staff. The food was beyond delicious. For five courses our taste buds were mesmerized. Whether you want something as simple as fresh potato chips, as warming as butternut sage soup or southern home-styled as Mac & cheese bites and collard green wontons your mouth and stomach will thank you early in the experience. This is the worst service I've ever had in NYC. I'm a HUGE supporter of small businesses starting up in NYC (especially Harlem), but an establishment's presence doesn't make it a gift to the community. Having worked in the food service industry before, I try to treat people with respect by tipping well and being as nice as possible. My experience here was awful. Experience #1 (The1st Timer): My roommate mentioned this place to me, and he said that (although pricey) the food was good. I ordered, and although pricey, the food wasn't bad. The person gave me a free dessert, and I paid with a credit card. Experience #2 (The Re-Up): Excited that I found a great new small business to support (woman owned at that!), I called to place another order two nights later. The person over phone seemed upset as I asked about what the "good options" were since they were out of the Steak, so I tried to rush my order. At the end, I asked about the free dessert, and the person over the phone said in the rude tone, "I told you last time that the dessert was only free in the restaurant". I was confused, and I mentioned that it was probably my roommate. I then proceeded to pay with my credit card, and she said, "Cash only". I mentioned that I paid with my card two days ago, and she suggested that I order through seamless. I agreed to pay cash, and then I waited in the living room for 45 min. No food arrived, so I went to my room. The place had called, and when I called back, the person over the phone stated the following things: a) Her delivery person tried to buzz, and I wasn't home. (not true) b) Am I calling her delivery person a liar? (never even mentioned this) After I mentioned how surprised I was with the service, she stated: a) that it was ok if she lost my business and b) she could have someone deliver it on the way home (1.5 hours late) In the end, the food came and wasn't bad. They even threw in a free dessert. I figured she might have been having a bad day, so I decided I'd give them a call few weeks later to try again. Experience #3 (The *2nd Chance): I called to place an order, and the refused to deliver to my location. **That's what I get for trying to give second chances** This whole situation really hurts me because we don't have enough "minority or woman owned" small businesses in the city. I found this place on Instagram. Last weekend I decided to have a picnic in Central Park and needed some food, so where better to get my food??? Everyone was friendly. The desserts that were on display looked delicious. I ordered the jerk shrimp and fiance had marinated skirt steak. I loved the shrimp, I even enjoyed my fiance's steak. We weren't in love with the sides though (mash potatoes, yellow rice, roasted potatoes). Dinner came with a dessert but it wasn't a dessert that I wanted so we ordered the banana pudding pudgies and carrot cake sliders separately. I loved the pudgies. My fiance was on the fence about the slider until the last bite where he concluded it was really good. Its a bit pricey but good food costs! This place is probably one of the best kept secrets in Spanish Harlem, and it shouldn't be. The fact that this adorable little shop is in my neighborhood is a blessing and a curse. I love everything I've tried from this spot: brownies, blondies, chocolate chunk cookies, banana pudding pudgies. It's all AMAZING. I haven't tried the meals, yet, but I'm looking forward to it. I am a lemonade enthusiast and connoisseur, and I always try lemonades wherever they're offered. The rosemary-mint lemonade at Evelyn's is among the best I have ever had. I thought it was a little sweet at first, but then the rosemary-mint flavors hit....and something else, it was effervescent, but not carbonated. Thoroughly refreshing. Went in this cute, little eatery on a whim. Girl behind the counter needs some customer service training and the chef could some cooking tips, as I was very disappointed in the food quality. Had the roasted potatoes with chicken wings. The wings were overly seasoned and overcooked. Some were even burnt. My fingertips were completely covered in seasoning salt after picking up each piece. The potatoes were bunt as well and extremely dry - it was like eating balls of chalk. For $16, I expect better food! I will not be going back to this restaurant. read more

The owner and staff are wonderful. I've tried a few of their sweet treats and finally got around to trying some of the food. It's very convenient if you need dinner in a pinch and don't have time to cook. They have a great selection on the menu and each entree comes with two sides and a free dessert. My meal was delicious and the portion was pretty substantial so I had lunch for the next day. I LOVE this place. I've lived in East Harlem for about 12 years now, and this is by far the best place I order from. I've gotten the Asian glazed salmon, and the marinated skirt steak salad. Both are delicious. They give you the hugest portion of salmon, and their spiced roasted broccoli is to die for (mashed potatoes are also great). Everything tastes extremely fresh. I've also had their german chocolate cake (which is FANTASTIC) and their banana cake (which tastes exactly like my grandmother's...super moist, delicious). The delivery guy is also extremely nice. Where do I start? I guess the beginning. I searched "wings" in my Seamless app and this place appeared. I read reviews both on Seamless and Yelp before I placed my order of roasted lemon pepper wings, sweet potatoes, and broccoli. I paid approx. $18 including tip, and for the roasted broccoli to be the best part is an issue. The sweet potatoes' skin was hard and overall the taste was off; not sure what it was. They could have been old. I'm a hard critic given that I absolutely love sweet potatoes. More importantly the wings were horrible. I assume because I placed my order around 830-845pm and they close at 930, I got the wingettes of the bunch that had soaked up all the oil/grease. I'd rather get 5 nice juicy wings than 7-9 skimpy wings. Not to mention, the last 3 were hard and inedible. Happily, I chose the broccoli because that's what saved my $18 meal from being an absolute complete waste. I will say that my meal arrived on time. But a piece of advice - provide delivery orders with food that would be provided to customers dining in or picking up. If I had picked up, I definitely would have sent the wings back. I will not be ordering again. It was definitely not worth the money paid. However, if I'm in the area, I'll grab some good ole BROCCOLI smh. read more
