Do not come here! They do not greet you when you walk in. Lots of empty tables and long wait times. We were a party of 2 and took us about an hour to get seated. We had to ask the hostess twice to sit us down. When we sat down the server didn't come around until we asked for one and every time we asked for something they looked annoyed. Every server seemed lazy and would just walk by. We overheard a server say "idc it's my last day." When we finally got our food we had to ask for utensils and they only gave us one. I really enjoy the food at Famous Dave's but every time I go I'm disappointed by the service. First time I ate there our server was so rude and got mad when we asked for refills on our drinks. The second time we went we didn't even stay to eat because the server was so rude to us when we asked about the wing special. I left the restaurant crying of how rude he was to me when I was just asking a simple question. This last time I went it was 3 pm and we were told they were not sitting anyone at this time. I've wanted to try Famous Daves for a while - I've been a fan of their bbq sauce and spicy pickles for a while. Went with my family for the first time and won't be going back. First off the pros: our server was pretty friendly, and their Wilbur's revenge BBQ sauce was great - good amount of heat. Unfortunately it ends there. The food was average at best - wife got the Catfish and that was pretty tasty. Everything else was ok and had that 'fresh out of the freezer this morning' taste to it, which is about what I expected, but the lack of cleanliness in the restaurant was impossible to ignore. The laminated menus were covered with bbq sauce fingerprints and some pages even had old food chunks . I get this can happen during a dinner rush but we were there late afternoon - it takes 30 seconds and a bar rag to fix that but I guess nobody could be bothered. The tables were not filthy but definitely not clean - that description can also be applied to the floors and really the rest of the restaurant except for the bathrooms. Oh no, the bathrooms get a special spot in this review! The stench coming from the men's room was noticeable and once inside, overpowering. Apparently a very wet dog had come in a few minutes before me and shook itself dry because there was water everywhere. I just can't get over how bad the smell was. My wife bravely reported back from the lady's room a few minutes later - there was no TP in any of the stalls, and the garbage can was overflowing. The food came out pretty quickly which was nice but that's about the last nice thing i can say. This location must be closing soon and their employees know - it's the only thing I can think of to explain how it is kept. I would recommend getting your order to go and eating it from on top of one of the garbage cans outside - i'm sure it's probably cleaner. read more

He then asked a few servers if that was their table they all said no, and didn't ask if they could help. Finally, our server came over. We started to order our food. The customer service is very poor, and the food is not the same anymore. I had to return for my daughter's to use the restroom, and the manager and an employee were killing a roach. Total mismanagement of kitchen staff or food runners. Our plates would come out barely warm, one at a time with minutes between when the next plate would arrive. One persons food never arrived so we asked and our server came back and said it's just been sitting there in the window for 30 minutes. Today we decided to take a walk on the beach after having lunch and to our surprise Famous Dave's was back in Long Beach We used to eat there all the time but it closed and another business opened. I don't know what happened but we are so so pleased it's back!!! The ambience was beautiful, and there was music playing from the bar. The waitress greeted us with a smile, and the food was delicious as ever. I had the sweet water catfish lunch special with rib tips and fried chunks of pineapples it was mouthwatering so yummy. I love the choices of bbq sauce but The Devils Spit is my favorite My husband also had the lunch special Sweet water catfish and pork ribs and Mac & cheese plus both came with a sweet cornbread muffin so good! All I know is glad you are back at the shoreline in Long Beach again and thank you for the wonderful customer service and friendliness today. Big portions, quick and efficient service, convenient location next to the aquarium...what's not to like? We came on a weekday, so I'm sure that didn't hurt. Didn't realize this location had closed down during the pandemic and we had gone after they had recently reopened, which explains some of the clutter and ruckus in the room we were seated in, but no worries, didn't affect our meal at all. We arrived at 9:48pm and left almost 2 hours later. We had originally planned to go to Gladstones. They were just closing. Tokyo Wako was closed, so only Famous Dave's was open. It took a long time to be seated. One family was waiting before us, but once they were seated, we had a nice table quickly. Once seated, the service was super slow. Seems the staff were too busy socializing with each other, rather than serving the customers. We ordered drinks and the feast for two, which due to a gluten allergy, I specifically asked the fries be in a separate plate and the bread be in another separate plate. So after waiting over 30 minutes, I asked our server for water. I also enquired about the drinks and she said they are adding the strawberry to my drink , it will come shortly. Although for my spiked lemon aid was strawberry flavor, I had not been asked what flavor I wanted. I actually wanted blueberry, but the choice of my server definitely worked! Strawberry is the way to go. After almost a hour had passed since we arrived, I asked about the food? Our server said they are just cutting the brisket and will be bringing it out. After another 10 minutes, the food came out. The bread and fries were in the same plate. I sent it back and a few minutes later, out came two plates, as I had originally asked. In front of us was a feast, but no plates. I asked for plates. They eventually brought them out. Looked like they had just been rinsed off. My plate, the one on the bottom, was soaking wet. As for the feast, the corn was great! The slaw was also really good. The bbq beans were ok. I the gluten eater, liked the corn bread, which there were two cupcakes of, but could not figure out why only one slice of baked crispy buttered bread? If we both wanted bread, we're we supposed to arm wrestle for it? Now on to the meats. I didn't eat the chicken, so can't say if it was good. Other than the chicken, there were only what turned out to be pork ribs. I called over a random server and asked if this was brisket, pointing to the ribs. He said no, it's pork ribs. I told him we chose brisket. He said the feast comes with 3 meats, but they forgot to give you brisket. Five minutes later, they brought a plate of brisket. I ate a small piece. It tasted strange, like bacon. Maybe the brisket was off and when the server said they were cutting the brisket, they chose not to give it to us. Sadly, super slow service, inedible meats, the fries that for me were okay, but not for my dining mate. She said they tasted undercooked. After the brisket, the manager came over to ask if everything was ok? I gave him a list of what he can do to improve things. He said is there anything he can do to make us happy? I told him not really. His name tag said "PIC". I asked his name and he said Jack. I pointed out the name tag. He said it stands for "Person In Charge". Then we had every server for 5 minutes coming over to ask if everything was ok? First it was no service, and now too much service. At the end, the bill was $85. We tipped big for considering the service. $5.00. I don't think we will be coming back. read more

Worst run restaurant I've ever been to. We were told the wait would be an hour and 15 minutes. There were more empty tables than people waiting. We were told the reason was because the tables weren't clean yet we could see the tables were clean. Then we were told it was because the kitchen was backed up. That is understandable, but given that they were serving people in the bar before they were even seating people that were waiting for tables, made that excuse seem a little lame. When we were finally seated we were told it would be another 30 to 45 minutes before we could get our food. By this time it was after 9 and they closed at 10. Fortunately, a very friendly server came to our rescue. She made sure that the food was served promptly. During all of this time, we and others that were waiting, could see that the staff was telling guests to go to the bar for open seating where they could be served more quickly. The problem with this is that the bartender, then became a food server rather than a bartender, and those of us that were waiting for a table we're put to the back of the line to get seated and served. And to make it even worse, when they would call a name for seating, and that person's party was not there, instead of going to the next person on the list, they just walked away and didn't call another name for about 10 minutes. I don't know whether this is a product of poor management or corporate policy but whatever it is it needs to change. I don't want to experience it again. read more

I miss the days when I had a local Famous Dave's in Westlake Village. So today I checked in on their Long Beach location. I was not surprised. My tasty favorites of pre-COVID times are still alive and well at the Long Beach Famous Dave's. I got the catfish fingers, with their bbq beans (with bits of meat inside) and their one of a kind macaroni in cheese with corn and jalapenos giving it a special kick. The cornbread is always nice to top things off. The food survived the journey well and I had quite the feast. I also appreciate being able to buy the famous daves sauces at the supermarket, devil spit and rich and sassy. Good job! read more

Food was amazing but we got robbed by the restaurant! My husband and I love Famous Dave's and I've been eating at this restaurant chain since I was a little girl with my family. Safe to say I really love Famous Dave's. But this particular famous Dave's was very, very disappointing. After a delicious meal, and paying we left. When we left and came home me and my husband saw that the restaurant took more than what we paid for out of our card. Our original total was $65.36 (tax included), but they took $75.36. Thank God I save the receipt, because if not, we would've been robbed of our money. Extremely excited Famous Dave's made their way back to Long Beach.  Got there right before 4 pm and got seated fairly quickly for a party of 9. Food is still great from what I remembered. Menu has changed a slight, but we were not disappointed. Dinner plates come with a good size portion, and we were not able to finish, but we had plenty to take home. Unfortunately, I did not take pictures of the food, but in no way did it disappoint. I do appreciate a server that does a fantastic job! Devontay was very attentive, kept on checking up on our party, he swiftly refilled our drinks and had great starter suggestions, which we took. He is great with people and children. Initially we walked in and the place seemed great, a nice change from Lucille's for once. Here comes the fun part and others seem to have the same experience. The place was DEAD. We waited over 5 minutes at the front desk with no host in sight as numerous employees just walk by and ignored us. One of them presumably looked like the supervisor/manager, he was wearing a light collared shirt. It was shocking to not even get a "hello, we'll be right with you". Nothing. So the 4 of us sit down at the front and wait for the host. Another party of 2 walk in and cut our place in line once the host finally showed up. I got up before she can seat them and politely stated that we were here first and the degenerate customer tells me with attitude "it's just two of us". Oh yeah pal well it's just 4 of us! What a POS. Super awkward and uncomfortable situation where I have to diffuse the irate degenerate of a customer in an environment where i'm supposed to feel welcomed with good service. That's why people come here right?? When the host finally showed up (knowing they've been gone) they should have took control of the situation and asked which party is next. Or have a sign in sheet so customers don't argue over who got here first, bla blah bla blah blahhh... Apparently even that is too hard! Food was good and what you expect for a touristy restaurant but I also get good food at my local Denny's and the service is flawless. You know how long it takes me to get sat at my local Denny's with no line? There is none! I get greeted before I can even reach the f****** front desk. Pathetic host service Famous Dave's! I expected better. Our waiter did great, no complaint there, she honestly saved the day. Fix the slippery floors too! Almost fell in the bathroom even with the heads up warning.
