We went twice when we were in Long Beach for the Impression Expo. The first day was so good we decided to return the next day. The brisket was a disappointment on the second day because it was dry. We got the combo plate twice and had two excellent meats with ribs and chicken. Our server was Famous Francis both times, and the service was excellent on both days. 6/10/23... Food was good, Caleb who took our order was great Our order was taken, food was brought out but no silverware. I asked another person for silverware, 10 minutes later still no silverware. Went to front desk to get silverware, sat back down to look up at the light and see a Huge Spider web on the light post. I was SUPER EXCITED when I found out Famous Dave's had reopened! This was one of my family's favorite restaurants as they were growing up! They LOVED this place! Let me start by saying it's NOT the same, total disappointment. Service is terrible, from the start the greeter was not friendly at all I had to greet her and let her know number of party size, I usually get a response like you wait time and your asked for your phone number or you're given a device which lets you know your table is ready. No she simply looked at me like what are you waiting for???! So we waited at the bar started with a couple drinks which were decent l, service there was ok, but made you feel as they were rushing you out, like we weren't even finished with our drinks, waiter wanted to take our glasses?! After an 1hr wait we were sat at our table, we ordered a couple more drinks which took almost 45 minutes to get, we had ordered an appetizer which was cold by the time it got to our table. We informed the waiter, that if possible he can make sure the same didn't happen with our food. Everyone that worked there felt bothered when you would ask for something example the plates that were brought for our appetizer was dirty waitress took it, never brought back a clean plate nor she apologized, had to request straws, none were offered, no plates were brought for our meal we had to request those also and were met with attitudes. I don't believe neither myself nor my husband were ever rude to any of the staff. Quality of the was not the greatest, ribs were not tender and dry. The chicken pieces were not even real chicken pieces half a breast chicken wing and maybe a drummet ? And restroom OMG WORSE THAN your gas station restrooms, disgusting! The last time I went to a Famous Dave's was over 10 years ago in Alabama. We purchased a $100 GC for $80 at Costco and decided to try it out tonight. The food was great! The brisket was fall apart tender and the pork ribs were moist and flavorful. I was super impressed, I honestly didn't expect much going in and was thinking it would be similar to Lucille's... I love this spot where is probably no other place in the entire state that you can get $.59 wings bone in with amazing different sauces I typically order them make it so I can switch it up. Even with those songs it's amazing because everything is cooked with hickory in the back. They have rib tip days and other specials on other days. I brought a large group (~30) here for dinner, giving the business plenty of warning (several weeks's notice). Despite arranging our visit well in advance, the staff was slow to take our orders and even slower to deliver the food. Some of our group got their food an hour after arriving and some still didn't have their food after being here for two hours. Friday night 6:00 p.m., we had to wait almost 35 minutes to be served and this place was just about empty.This place has the worst service and food. The ribs have no meat on them they're dry. I ordered their special today the ribeye combo I had to send that steak back it was a small piece and it was dry and cold and burnt they brought it back in a better mediocre cooked. The steak is very grisly and not worth $29 with four very small dried out spare rib bones. The cornbread came cold and I sent it back and asked for a warm one with butter on the side because she didn't have any when she presented my meal the butter came back in a little dish that looks like she dug it out with a fork all over. Overall very dissatisfied I don't recommend this place at all, Lucille's as much as I don't like that restaurant, is far above and beyond better and in quality. Went to good old Famous Dave's for dinner last night, in Long Beach. Beer was cold, servers were nice... and that's about all that was good. They seemed poorly managed, unorganized and (some of their staff) untrained. We sat at the bar. Bartender was nice, seemed aloof. She took my order and started to walk away without asking my husband what he wanted. We had to call her back over. They apparently ran out of silverware, so they kept a big box of plastic utensils right on top of the bar. After we got our food, we had to ask for silverware, and we got plastic utensils. We tried the smoked turkey. It tasted and looked like Oscar Meyer lunch meat. I'm pretty sure they don't actually smoke the turkey there. The bathrooms were a mess. Looked like nobody had cleaned them in a while This is the second time we've been here since it's been a Famous Dave's again. The first time we came (last December), they had just reopened. I ordered the Mac n cheese. I was about to take a bite only to find a very long hair! Yuck! Famous Dave's corporate needs to pop in for a surprise visit. What happened to Dave's? I drove by Shoreline Village and saw that my favorite BBQ place was back. It was my birthday and I was so excited to eat at one of my go to places again. I immediately noticed that the décor was a little different. Not to worry, I'm sure it'll be fine. The hostess was NOT very inviting and had a very dismissive attitude. Almost like we were bothering her. This was not a good start. The original FD's host/hostess greeted you and made you feel at home. Our waiter didn't attend to us for 10 minutes after we sat down. When she DID come over, she asked for our entire order, including drinks rather than ask for our drinks or asked if we wanted a starter. We ordered anyway. Our food came out and she didn't check on us once until we asked her for more drinks and some boxes. The old FD's wait staff was on it. Looked our way, gives us the thumbs up, asked us if everything was up to par. Now the food. I lived for the Rib Tips. I wish it wasn't the case, but the Tips are no longer any good. The rub is too salty and once you get past the leathery shell they are not that great. Tips are supposed to be small and juicy. My wife's chicken was good. Daughters wings were not great. I'm not sure what happened to Dave's. We probably won't be back. There are too many choices for BBQ in LA. read more

The service was as bad as the food. My wife and I each ordered a senior plate and rib tips. She ordered tasted dark meat chicken with coleslaw and got roasted white meat. I ordered bbq white meat with coleslaw and got bbq dark meat with chips. She took it back and got the coleslaw. I told her I also ordered white meat and she took it back a second time to get me the breast and wing. Then had to remind her of the rib tips which she then went back to get them. The tips were dry, tasteless and more like fat jerky. I have been to several different Famous Dave's but this one is by far the worst. Yesterday, I went to Famous Dave's Restaurant at Shoreline Village. I am a member of their rewards program. Because of being in the program, from time to time I get emails on offers. I got an offer which stated Buy one entree and get another one of equal or lessor value free. Me and my daughter went to have an early dinner. When we ordered our food, I informed the Waiter that we were going to take advantage of the offer. He told me that I needed something in writing so that he could show his manager, otherwise his manager would not accept the offer. Now the offer I received in my email showed that it was for the Long Beach restaurant. It was pure luck that before I left the house I took a copy of the email even though I thought it was strange that they would want proof of an offer that was being advertised by them. I also informed the Waiter that I wanted to get my reward points for the meal - the Waiter stated don't worry you can get that from the receipt at the end of the meal. We were served the meal and it was fine, but when the check came, I couldn't find a bar code on the receipt, therefore, I could not add it to my rewards. I informed the Waiter at that time, and he stated that because of the POS computer that that particular restaurant uses was different than all the rest that his manager would add the points to my rewards manually. It sounded so much like BS (the having to show proof of BOGO free and then the being able to use the receipt to add the meal to my rewards) that I requested to speak with the Manager. She came out and verified that she must see proof of their Specials (???) and that she has to add the points to the reward program manually. She said that she would add the points - I informed her that the last time I had came the Waiter I had said that he would add the points and that I never did get any points added. Well, she assured me that she would add them. It's been over 24 hours and NO REWARD POINTS HAVE BEEN ADDED. The food is alright, but the management they have is so anti customer service that I will not be going to the Long Beach restaurant again - I will go to Lakewood. I gave them 2 stars because the food was good. read more
