Had no idea how itty-bitty this cafe was. I was expecting a full size cafe. Regardless, I was very pleased with the customer service I received and the amazing daily toast i ordered. The daily toast was beautifully made with care and attention. The fruits were fresh and tasty, the mascapone was perfect, and the toast was fluffy on the inside but crispy on the outside. Came here on a Saturday morning. Loved the neighborhood vibes this place gives off. Unfortunately, it's becoming too popular for its own good that I think the quality of service and food has been declining. First off, it is extremely warm and stuffy inside where people can eat and wait for their food. It's definitely a grab and go place if anything. I used to love getting this egg biscuit dish, but realized it is no longer available =( I ordered the salmon toast and for $13.50, I don't think it is worth how much it is priced at. It had at max 3 ingredients on the slice of bread. It was good bread, but all in all not worth the $13.50. In terms of small suggestions, I think if they offer simple but more affordable breakfast sandwiches (with the same great ingredients), and allowed ordering outdoors to allow more grab and go transactions, then it would make a huge difference! read more

I came here and had the Tendernob (a shot of espresso with some cream/foam) as well as a cup of coffee. Both were delicious, so you can't go wrong with coffee or espresso drinks. I also tried the sandwich, the same roast beef sandwich that Michelle M. described, and it was excellent as well. I can't wait to come back and try the baked goods and other daily menu offerings. I enjoyed the daily toast, and the mascarpone cheese was really nice. My mother and I also enjoyed the house juice (grapefruit and apple), which was small but good. However my mom ordered the empanada and it was super tiny and not very flavorful, and came with a few leaves of wilted spinach and greens. It didn't look or taste very fresh. Also when we got there we were expecting to be able to find a seat but there was just one table inside which was full. There were a couple taken small tables outside but it definitely needed more seating especially since it was raining outside, so we got our food to go. A toast a day, the YELPER stays happy. While I am normally not a fan of carbs, I fall in love with Farm Table's daily toast. The combination of strawberries, kiwi, grapefruit, pistachio and pecan butter was divine. The waiter is friendly and is happy to explain the dish to me and my friend. If you like bird food portions for ridiculous prices this is the place for you. If you are a true coffee fan forget it too. You'll get scorched and bitter coffee. I ordered a tuna melt here for 8.50 and got soggy lettuce with no dressing or flavor and one piece of bread with one slice of tomato and some sub par tuna and a slice of cheese on top. Farm to table? More like Safeway to table. Actually the Safeway deli has better food than this (yep, very sad). Julien's critique of the new bozo barista confirms my own experience. I've been going to FT since they opened. It's under new ownership: A couple from northern Minnesota who know nothing about local coffee culture and insist they're not going to learn anything. The irony about the bozo barista's attitude is that he couldn't make an espresso drink if his life depended on it. I let him serve me twice. I could barely get it down the first time. The second try was an improvement: mediocre. Yes, these $15/h baristas who fancy themselves elitists are laughable, especially when they're serving someone who makes a $100k a year. We had a really bad experience here and would not recommend this place to anyone. We were here late morning on October the 13th. I asked for a cup of coffee, nothing special just a plain drip coffee. The guy taking our order says "we're out" and then proceeds to shake the coffee container and says " I might be able to get you a cup". Ok, no problem. It's strange to me that a place that claims to be a breakfast and coffee shop wouldn't offer to make more coffee. Later, I go outside to put some cream and sugar in my coffee and the cream was empty. The same guy walks by and I tell him and he replies and tells me to go inside there's more there. Why not just refill the creamer. So next in line my friend orders a cappuccino from this guy. She asks if they have any flavoring. He replies and says no they don't have that and if that's what she wants then she can go to Starbucks. Wow, so rude! Next in line is my friend who has a slight accent but speaks 100% perfect english, has lived in this country for 20+ years. She asks for an Americano. He so rudely says he cant understand her and she repeats her order, she says its an espresso. He then proceeds to turn around and grab someone to "translate" for him. She was the most upset out of the 4 of us because he treated her like garbage. He was delivering everyones food, except for ours. He sent out other people to give us our food and they were laughing as they dropped off the food. It was a really awful experience. I can't believe people like this work in customer service. This guy clearly does not belong in a job that deals with people. read more

I love Farm:Table! I've yet to have a disappointing eat here. The vibe is rustic and quaint, with fresh flowers, a rooster supper bell in the corner, & always a current newspaper. Staff is perfectly friendly, and always welcoming. Totally feel comfortable to sit down with the paper and tea for a few hours.. Great coffee with a nice selection of teas, I always get the elderflower tea with osmanthus blossoms which gives off summer peachy aromas and goes perfectly with a savory jalepeno scone. Sounds strange but its true. Also kudos for serving tea properly (in a pot and covered). I won't taunt you with descriptions of the wonderful things I've had here, because the menu changes often, and because things are made daily- so when they sell out, they sell out. But I will say that the flavor combinations are always unexpected, well- balanced, and delicious. Pulled pork salad is a winner if it happens to be available when you come, and I'm pretty into this meatloaf sando I'm enjoying right now, but come prepared for a small menu with a few stellar options. Additional plusses: there's a grassy parklet right in front for extra seating if it gets too busy! Warning: 1. the egg sandwich is cold. This was unsettling the first time around but delicious the second. You'll get the hang of it. 2. don't panic. the milk cream and sugar situation is right outside on the porch.. Overall: perfect place to come casually and spend the afternoon :) read more

Dear snooty staff..You acted like you hold a PHD in "espresso" with your attitude when I ask for iced latte... However; you don't even know how to make a "DRY" cappuccino. "Dry" means mostly foam and a little milk; not a latte in a smaller cup. Mr. Professor barista, If you want act uppity you better have the skills to back it up! The only reason why this isn't 5 stars is because of the limited seating arrangements. There is only a picnic table inside as the space is very small. The outside has a few tables set up or you can sit at the window looking inside. The first time I tried to go on a weekend about 9am there was a line and no seating so I passed but I went again on a Monday at 9am assuming I missed the morning crowd and was glad to see no line and seating available. I got sweet bun, some pressed juice, the pug and honey latte, the daily toast, and the broccoli savory tart. I didn't try the bun or juice since those were for my son but the latte was very good. It had a slightly unique sweetness to it. The daily toast was good as well but nothing really amazing - but I also ate the fruit separately than the toast and spread because it was just so massive, I didn't know how to bite into it! The spread and crispness of the toast were the highlights there. The savory tart. Oh man, the savory tart. This was my favorite. It was crisp and flaky on the outside and soft and moist on the inside like a quiche. My 4-year old who hates anything green, especially vegetables not only ate it, but asked for more - that's how good it was. Somebody ship me another tart. read more

I had the smoked salmon toast, which was bigger than I thought, with a side salad. My friend had the croissant, which she said was decent. Maybe we just ordered poorly? I dunno. What I loved was the super friendly neighborhood vibe. There is one (tiny) communal table where diners can share newspapers and chat it up with their neighbors. I also loved the strawberry infused water and mason jars that served as water glasses. The boys who worked here were so friendly and we felt very welcome. Unfortunately, there were only three items on their chalkboard menu. The first item was a series of three slices of rustic bread topped with pulled pork, a hard boiled egg and roasted vegetables. Sounds good, right? It was just ok. The vegetables were a little soggy, and the combination with pulled pork just wasn't right. And it was cold. OMG! I can't stop laughing at the reaction of my friend when we walked into the closet-sized restaurant this morning. We could not believe the place is SO small. We had to poke our reflections in the mirrorred wall to make sure there was no dining room, and what we were looking at was our own reflection. However, it is not the point. I tried hard to find the menu, but I failed. So asked the person taking the order where I could look at the options. He pointed at the wall on my left where I found 2 items: bread pudding and a toast with mascarpone, hazelnuts, bananas, etc. REALLY? I would never imagine myself coming to SF from the East Coast to a place with two items on the menu!! I decided to be rude and ask for eggs. Oh, ran out... O-K... So, my friends and I grabbed the table. LITERALLY, THE TABLE, as there is only one, and it is really small...and decided to try both menu items...you know, just for the hell of it! The bread pudding was runny and gross. I can make better pudding with saltine crackers and water. The toasts came out with a 20 min interval: the first one had a ton of mascarpone and honey. I had to catch the pieces of banana sliding of the bread all over THE table. The second toast had no nuts on it, although the recipe was promising hazelnuts and pecans. They must have run out of nuts...and had to come up with a quick substitute- pecan shells! By the way, both "toasts" were not toasted... The latte I ordered tasted pretty good though- two stars for that, but I have to take one back for CASH ONLY policy. Oh, to all yelpers who gave the place and its food 5 stars: even a 5 year-old can pull off an egg on pork and leafy greens or an untoasted toast with mascarpone and sliced banana for $8. I just spent Sunday morning on the sidewalk in the Tenderloin. No, I didn't wake up there and no this was not the result of a tragic Saturday night I don't remember. I went there to check out biscuit Sunday at farm:table. This is my 130th review, and only my 15th 5 star. The whole experience was wonderful. We sat at one of the little tables outside on the sidewalk, and it was sunny and pleasant. The staff was friendly and the service was great. It was even prompt which surprised me considering the number of people there and the size of the kitchen. And the biscuits, oh the biscuits... the devilish love child of butter and flour... were wickedly delicious. I had the biscuit with poached egg and greens with mustard butter - absolutely amazing. Everything was fresh, the egg was perfectly poached (in the shell) and yolk tied together the the buttery biscuits, the bitter greens, and the spicy mustard perfectly. It was served with a little pickled carrot, which was also wonderful. I kept seeing out of the corner of my eye that several people were getting the biscuits with strawberries and honey ricotta. Now, one of the ways I am trying to make a difference in the world is by trying to start a trend of eating dessert after breakfast. So of course, for the cause, and because I couldn't resist the call of those juicy, sexy, red strawberries, we ordered one of those too. It was wonderful, and the dollop of rhubarb jam was a lovely touch. Coffee is usually pretty important for me at brunch because it counteracts the food coma that brunch usually induces. But you can just come and enjoy the coffee for its deliciousness because they don't supersize the food portions here. I guess you *can* have brunch and not feel the need to chase it with a nap. farm:table represents a perfect execution of all the wonderful food/culture ideals so quintessential to San Francisco - the ingredients are seasonal, local, and farm fresh; the flavors are clean and refined; the one farm table fosters community around food; and they tweet their menu twice daily. it's like eating everything great about San Francisco in every bite! read more

While on vacation in San Francisco I was on the hunt for good coffee and fresh breakfast. What caught my eye was their house made almond milk so I went to give it a try. I slowly navigated my way through the tenderloin district to find a red sign and red door greeting me with gourmet delights and superb customer service. As I was waiting in line(of which was quickly accumulating) my tongue was tantalize by the flavors mentioned daily change in menu. I proceeded to order myself and almond milk cappuccino and an order of their daily text of which included the ginger marscapone fresh fruit and pistachios. After short scenic wait upon their outside sitting area I was brought out my delicious cup of coffee and a beautiful piece of toast art museum worthy. I thought it couldn't get any better until I took a bite and was transported to heaven. Farm and Table is AMAZING AND BUCKETLIST WORTHY :) I will be back the next time I am in San Francisco. What a difference a year makes. I used to LOVE this place. We came here for breakfast pretty regularly but after moving to a different neighborhood its been a while. Went back today for lunch. We ordered both lunch plates (beef sandwich & frittata) because in the past everything has been very delicious. My heart sank when the plates were brought out because the portions have decreased quite a bit. Their previous ratios were spot on and combined with the pricing made it a very affordable option. The food itself seems to have lost some of its creativity. It wasn't as tasty as it used to be. They've always used good quality bread but the bread that came on my sandwich did not have enough integrity for the filling. The side salad was little more than a wilted garnish. The frittata was... fine, with the exception of egg shell. Customer service is always good here, that's not the problem. Although it was strange to see the used plate/cutlery box overflowing - that can only take 30 seconds to bring inside. Maybe this place is better for breakfast but I don't think I will make a trip out there any time soon. read more

I was here months ago while in San Francisco on a work trip. I STILL think about this place from time to time. I had toast with mascarpone, sliced pink lady apples, honey, and a soy latte. It's like they redefine toast. It was two thick slices of brioche, perfectly toasted so that there was a nice crunch to the crust, and the mascarpone and honey gave it the most wonderful, light sweetness. Honestly, I don't even know how you can do that with toast. Amazing. Really, really good. The place is cramped with a communal style table but I wouldn't mind eating the toast hanging upside down off of monkey bars. Its just that good. read more
