Came to Eastern Market for their holiday markets and arrived a little early. Came here for breakfast and it was very tasty. Not busy yet, we were sat right away, but a line began to form outside the door within the 10 minutes of us looking at the menu. My mom and I split the Heuveos Rancheros served with warm tortillas. Delicious and on the larger side so it was perfect for the two of us. You could tell the owner/manager, not sure exactly, took pride in this place. Burnt and watery coffee, no mugs or silverware (only plastic silverware and styrofoam cups), no milk (they weren't out, they just don't carry it), only one very wobbly high chair for the whole restaurant, and eggs fried within an inch of their life into hard pucks. I've got to save this place was just missing the mark. Absolutely cute decor, staff seem friendly enough, unfortunately I feel that she may have been fairly new. Went in for breakfast, they have a great menu. I ordered the huervo rancheros, The food that came was good and a lot I've got to give them that much. However, coffee wasn't attended to as much as I would hope for the very small cups they give you. And about Midway into my breakfast I received the avocado, and The sauce that was supposed to be on my dish. Nothing special, but a standard, easy go-to. Even on busy days at the Market, there's usually not too long of a wait. I appreciate that they're open every day, unlike many places around here. Breakfast is super greasy in the way that you want it to be from a diner; toast is always buttery. Food is always fresh. Staff/service is a bit hit or miss. And do not get the avocado toast, it is lacking! Compared to the other breakfast place in the area that's open and walk into-able, I would say this one is cleaner but has less of a welcoming, family feel. read more

Came here for the 2024 NFL draft - it was right by my airbnb and I ended up eating here three times over the weekend. I was with 4 other people, so I saw a lot of things from the menu. There doesn't seem to be one bad thing on the menu, it was all great and everyone with me raved about it. Great spot. I had the meat lovers omelette and the double bacon cheeseburger - both excellent. Service was friendly and the food came out fast. Nice atmosphere too. Loved it. read more

Wow, what a delicious breakfast after an hour or so of market shopping. Frank's sausage... my oh my, plump, meaty, with that nice pop when you cut into them. Had to get a side order to take home. My Frank's skillet was loaded with sausage, veggies, and potatoes. Will be back! read more

The women that work here are gems! Hard working and the most friendly warm individuals. My family and I stopped in to get food before heading out of town. I'm so happy we did. These ladies were so friendly and inviting, and the food was fast to come out. We both had the breakfast sandwiches and though they weren't anything special the staff was! Just go. It's terrific. Got a simple breakfast and everything was among the best I've ever had. Bacon and sausage were so flavorful. Eggs were fresh and cooked to perfection. Hash brown were crisp and creamy. And - this may sound odd - the wheat toast was strangely incredible. Don't know exactly why - maybe it's grilled in butter - but trust me. Breakfast on a Saturday morning at the eastern market in Detroit is always a treat. Today we tried Farmer Franks. I'm not sure if this place is new or remodeled or what but it was new to me. We waited about 5-10 minutes, very quick we were seated and greeted. And within a few minutes the server was back to take our order. I decided on a huevos rancheros skillet. Within 5 minutes our food was delivered. Mmmm so good. It was roasted potatoes with chorizo, onion, avocado, and cheese topped with two eggs (over easy) served with 3 warm flour tortillas. I ate all of my tortillas stuffed with the skillet and still had an almost full to-go box to bring home. DH ordered a skillet as well, but he ordered the corned beef one and he was so pleased he ate the whole thing. I love the eastern market Saturday mornings in the summer and will definitely come back to Farmer Franks! read more

After waiting almost a half an hour outside at this establishment we where not walked to our table instead we where directed to "find a booth in the second room". We happened to be a few miles away from Farmer Frank's and felt that this would be the best place to go. We are grateful that we stopped in. Farmer Frank's certainly serves some of the best dishes. When I rate a restaurant, I do so based on the taste of the food and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant and if I receive bad service, I observe to see how other servers perform so I can give an honest review. There were servers that were spot on, quick, great, and helpful. We had the eggs Benedict, Swiss Mushroom Burger, Crepes, and a cup of homemade chili plus a pepsi. All were delicious and fresh. I would highly recommend this restaurant to others. They do server quality foods and the cooks are busting their rumps to get food out on time and in an orderly fashion. Any missteps, they fix and move on quickly. I was impressed with the kitchen staff. We go inside and stand and wait and no one is there to greet us, but we continue to wait. Then, we feel we are at the exit and not the entrance, so we walk through the restaurant and to the other side and realize there is no other door. The door we entered is the entrance. We are wandering around the restaurant, there are three people behind the counter, so we walk to the counter and ask if we seat ourselves. She responded with the fact that there are people that would seat us if we were at the door and that we can go ahead and seat ourselves. We let her know that we had been standing by the door. We were really nice about it. It wasn't a big deal to us. We are new, so we don't know the tribal customs. I realize I left something in my car, so I ask my partner to order me a Pepsi or Coke. I come back, and two glasses of water. We go through the menu and decide on what we want. Amazing waitress shows up, takes our order and I asked in addition to the meal, a Pepsi or Coke. I watch the busy waitress take another order, pick up dirty dishes from another table, and eventually she makes it to the back to put our order in. I am watching her the whole time so that when she gets a moment, I can remind her of my drink. It's been almost five minutes and I am thirsty, but respectful of her situation. She turns around and asks how I wanted the burger and I let her know medium well and it actually came out perfect... medium well. So she puts the order in, and continues cleaning so I get up and ask the lady behind the cash register if she can get my drink. I had to laugh because as the lady was pouring my drink, my waitress interrupted her to lift up a lid so she can put dirty dishes in a tub for the back crew to take and clean. It was funny to watch. So I get back to my table and a few minutes later, our meal is being served and the server asks if I had already gotten my chili. I said no, and soon the chili came out. Everything looks amazing and as mentioned, the food was delicious. My partner got the eggs Benedict and it came with melons and grapes, which she handed over to me because she knew how much I love melons. I eat the burger and it was so delicious. Spot on. I began to eat the chili and the flavor is out of this world. Nailed it. But, should have included a fishing pole because it was mostly broth, a few kidney beans, celery, and bell peppers and I was able to fish out one tablespoon of ground beef. One tablespoon! The flavor was there... but dang, where's the beef? I really could care less if it was a lot of beef or a fair amount of beef, but don't cheat me when it comes to Chili. If it's mostly beans, okay... I get it and that's cool, but there weren't that many kidney beans either. I brought that up to the cashier and she totally ignored me. I was being really nice but she really didn't care and she even corrected me when I called it chili... she had this strange look on her face like she didn't understand what Chili was and then she had a brain fart and then a moment of sunshine in her eyes and she said "Oh, you mean the Chili Soup!!!" so I think she was just acknowledging that she gets this all the time and is calling it for what it is... Chili Soup. (Menu says Homemade Chili) but yeah, her description sounds better. It was still upsetting that I wasn't being heard. I told another person behind the counter and she out and out just made an excuse. I'm not joking! She said "It could've been the last of the chili... blah blah blah" and I am watching a huge BOWL (not a cup like I had) of Chili going to the table next to ours. So did you have fresh chili you were making and decided to give me the scrapings from the last batch? I mean, maybe that is why the flavor was so good and bold. But the excuse. I mean, come on... even Wendy's has eyeballs and if the chili thins out, they throw in more... (gasp) broken up hamburger patties! I mean, your chili is the bomb... why do you want to ruin your reputation. I would love to come back and get a real bowl of your chili. But, I would probably get charged for a burger if I asked for a fair amount of beef in the chili. read more

Although I enjoyed my food, I hated that the waitress and additional support staff kept reaching over our food while we were eating.
