A family of 4 ordered before me. Within 5-10 minutes they had their food. I, on the other hand....1 person, waited over 20 minutes. The puffy tacos were pretty good ( one chile verde and one pastor). The location was a little off putting, but the service was good and the food was great. I'm the street tacos were normal, but I liked the puffy taco and how it makes the taco feel lighter. The only difference between the street tacos and the puffy taco is that the puffy taco's shell is grilled a certain way that makes it appear larger, with the outside retaining a crunch and the inside soft. We also got the burrito bowl and that was nice. They really layered on the cheese with that one and I recommend that too. read more

Horrible prices. 16 dollars for a small burrito that contradicts their name and is 90% tortilla. On top of that they ask you to tip and blame it on inflation for their outrageous cost. Go anywhere else and get more bang for your buck. read more

The Fat Burrito wins the Best Burrito in town! Brought my son and picked up an Al pastor fat burrito with red salsa inside, carne asada puffy tacos and children's bean and cheese burrito. The fat burrito was 3lbs of all you ask and want in a burrito! No processed cheese pure queso fresco is what makes them so authentic! YES YES YES YES!! My third time coming here and the food and service has been consistently good so now I have to leave a review. I always get their burrito with carne asada and it never disappoints. Food is fresh and always comes out fairly quick, about 5-8 minute wait. I've also tried their puffy tacos, they're unique as none of the other Mexican restaurants or taquerias nearby sell them. The tortilla is perfectly fried to a nice crunch and I always get it, along with the burrito. Come for a taste of authentic Mexican food, workers are extremely polite and friendly every time too. Sure the tacos are a little pricey compared to the prices you see at a taco truck, but I don't mind supporting local either, plus it's always worth it. 5/5 banger taco spot. read more

Stopped in a tried an al pastor huarache- basically a larger version of a sope. Service was great, and the restaurant was nice and clean and organized. The huarache was perfectly cooked with a nice crisp texture but soft maiz inside. Toppings were on point with beans, al pastor onion, crema, cilantro, cotija cheese, and I topped it with both of their salsas. I'll definitely be back to try the puffy tacos. read more

I been wanting to try the puffy tacos for a while and I havnt found a place that has them around me till I found this place. And I finally got a chance to. The inside was really nice, they had many of seats from in front of the window to under the fans in the back, they have a good size tv on the wall, everything was really clean. They also have outside tables if you prefer to eat outside. The guy who was taking our order had amazing service. He delivered our food to our table which was very nice, since not a lot of places still do that, the puffy tacos though were so good. They were pretty big, which I wasn't expecting. 2 alone filled me up so I had to take the last one home. My mom loved the food as well and said they were really good. #108 for 2021 From the outside Fat Burrito looks like a hole in the wall. Actually, the whole center looks like a big hole in the wall. And that's the illusion. Being at the north west corner of Archibald and Base Line is prime real estate attracting a few good foodie's to hole up their brick & mortar. Fat Burrito is one of them. As soon as I stepped in I noticed the kitchen was spanking clean. Military clean. Everything was like spik & span shiny clean. Dining area too reflected the same with a big screen tv and fitting decor. A large painting by Nana was on the wall. I don't know which Nana, the last name, but I have one in our home. Anyway, I digress. The AC was on to a nice level. Not too cold but glad to step in from the heat cold. Yeah I could sit here and work if it's not too busy. This was my first time here and I was here for one thing and one thing only. I got the whispered word on the street things were getting puffed up around here and I had to investigate what that was about. My deductive reasoning, Yelp, lead me here. Fat Burrito. They apparently have been serving up puffy tacos for some time. The locals seem to have kept it under wraps to remain a hidden gem. Time to order. Two mamas were sitting in the dining area. They greeted me well with a warm smile. I felt comfortable right away. One got up to take my order for a al pastor and carne asada. I was not hungry at all so this was just to get a sampling. If they're good I'll be coming back. I knew they would be but always good to do a test drive kind of test first to be sure. Plus, like I said, I wasn't hungry. Mama tells me it will be about 7 minutes. That's 2 minutes more than I would've liked but I was not in a rush and if it's that good it'll be worth it. She asks me how I like my sauce. I tell her in a airy breath like breathing fire "hot". She laughs and says that's how she likes it. We strike up a little conversation about heat. Without it food has no taste. Just like life. So we get the tacos. I take them home to share. What? You thought I was going to eat it all for myself. Nah I like to share the experience. Looking at them at first they look like regular street style tacos. And they are except they're in this airy looking flaky kind of crust. I would have liked the al pastor to be spicier but I did have extra hot sauce to add which made a world of difference to my tongue. The puffy crust actually helps to bring out more of the flavors by not soaking the flavors as much. Carne asada was spot on. Grilled and juicy. The meats and veges look small in the shell but remember they're puffed up. The portions were right. Wow. If you haven't tried these yet head on over there. Don't run, make no sudden moves.
