Stopped by to get a quick snack and to see what the fuss is all about with puffy tacos.. How does this place exists without the people knowing?! I ordered two puffy carne asada tacos. Dude, crunchy outer layer, yet soft inside tortilla. The meat was juicy and the condiments were elevated perfectly. The hot and medium salsa added a kick and different level of flavor and texture. I am just jaw dropping, impressed with the flavor profile! Tacos are usually just whatever to me, but dude.. (mic drop) The owner who ran the front end was friendly and also the FIRST person to ever spell my name correctly. BONUS. Fast, friendly service, I highly recommend!! Puffy TACOS!! read more

There aren't a lot of Mexican food options in Rancho so the fact that we found this place is amazing. My fiancé and I looked at the menu and decided on two of their tacos along with two burritos. I love burritos and this place is called fat burrito, so I obviously wanted a burrito even though the pictures were mainly of the taco. I would probably never get the burrito again, although it was HUGE, I will never understand why Mexican places don't stick to basics. The burrito had beans, meat, rice, and pico de gallo vs the tradition which is meat, beans, rice, onions & cilantro. Due to Covid everything is take out and the pico really made the burrito cold and not very good in my opinion. The tacos (at about $5 each) were the best thing here and I can definitely see why all the pictures are of the tacos lol. I was annoyed because we asked for no onion and sure enough there was onion on my tacos. They were finely chopped too and because of the sour cream I couldn't even see them so they were hard to take off :(. Now because of the burrito and my onion mistake, I probably would have given only 3 stars BUT the tacos really were that good! The puffy tortilla along with the marinated chicken is what sealed the deal for me and made me love it. The asada was good too but what they marinate the chicken in was soooo delicious. I was craving tacos and came across this place. I ordered a couple puffy tacos asada a asada burrito and 3 street tacos carnitas with beans and rice. Keep in mind due to the meat shortage they have to charge a bit more to cover the costs. I got some hot salsa to go along with it. Came home opened up my goodies and the smell was delicious. Being hungry and having craved tacos I dive in. The puffy tacos were interesting it pretty okay even better with the salsa. The street tacos were typical and burrito is packed with tons of meat beans cheese rice. Pretty big for their regular burrito. That was okay also. I'll definitely come back for more puffy tacos but the others I can get it anywhere. Try the puffy tacos it's delicious. read more

This place is probably my favorite Mexican food spot in town. I was only recently introduced to this amazing place by a friend but WOW this food is good. I typically look for hole-in-the-wall locations... and let me tell you this place is it! They have a small item menu (which I love!) and it encompasses everything you love about Mexican food. My visit today included an Al Pastor Street taco, a Carne Asada Puffy taco, and a Al Pastor Burrito bowl. Everything is absolutely delicious and you can tell this establishment makes their food with love! The service here is also very friendly. The staff if very nice and accommodating to their guests. We found our new Puffy Taco spot! Other puffy tacos fall apart when you bite into them, leaving you with a taco salad on my plate. Fat Burritos Puffy taco did not fall apart. It had a nice bite to it. I was worried about them being to chewy, under fried. It was not at all. Cooked to perfection. I ordered a Carne Asada Burrito for the hubby and I ordered two Al Pastor and two Pollo Street tacos on our 1st order. While we were waiting in their nice clean dining area for our to go order...two male diners were helping to clear their large family table. I overheard staff ask them how they enjoyed their food. One of the gentleman said the Puffy taco was better than another spot they eat in the Whittier/La Mirada are. That's our old stomping ground. I asked the other guy what spot were they talking about. Arturo Puffy Taco! That is the only place our family has ever eaten Puffys. So I had the hubby order one, because I was afraid they would be chewy. The food is BOMB! Yet the hospitality and customer service isn't good. I've been coming here every week multiple times a week. The owner is so cold it comes off rude. To be a family owners restaurant if you have regulars that you see spend a lot and stay loyal you should be nice and make a effort to keep them. The puffy tacos were just fabulous. Crisp, fresh, airy, and the chile verde filling was perfect (I also got the pastor, but IMHO it was not as ideal texture wise for the puffy taco). The cotija and crema topping worked well, I was worried it was going to be all tex mex. There is table seating, fairly airy and well lit space, and also a counter and some outdoor tables. Strongly recommend, and will be back. Very nice, kind folks at the counter too. read more

Food is delicious. Melts in your mouth. Loved the verde puffy taco. We also had Al pastor and pollo puffy tacos. The fat burrito is absolutely mouth watering. It's a bit pricey, but it's worth it. Besides the food, the customer service is 100%. The girl at the counter couldn't be sweeter or more attentive. You really feel welcomed from the moment you open the door until you leave. Amazing puffy taco ... The texture is interesting, And aroused my curiosity, Because I cook and I pryed for hints from staff but they didnt not yield their secrets... Very unique and refreshing to try when craving mexican cuisine, But tired of ordering the same old things...the puffy taco was a first for me, But definitely not last..the Meat (both al pastor and carne asada) is cooked right and well seasoned, using better cuts than most.. Definitely not your traditional basic tacoman meat. Everything I sampled was made with love and it shows.. Sauces are clearly made from scratch and very tasty... I will be back to sample other items. What really stands out here are the puffy tacos! They are actually more fluffy than crispy and have the perfect mix of being light, yet completely satisfying. I could eat a handful of these, absolutely delicious! Prices are fair, they have enormous burritos which they are known for, but the tacos were really the standout in my option. Service was wonderful, you instantly feel welcome and at home. Very nicely run family business I am glad to support, highly recommended! read more

Came here again for a quick lunch. I ordered 3 street style tacos, 2 al pastor and 1 carne asada. Food came out in less than 10 min, which was a delightful surprise. Better experience than last time. But again the meats were bland. Had to drown it in sauce and limes. A good place for a quick meal but there are better places around. Again I didn't try their signature fat burrito, which my friends said was really good. So I can't completely knock them down another star. Will have to try their signature burrito before I say one way or another if I'm coming back. As many people have already mentioned, this is a small place. Can't fit a large group. Maybe max of 20 chairs and 8 tables. read more

One week ago today, we stumbled upon this little gem! It was our first time visiting the establishment. A sweet-spirited cashier by the name of Damien welcomed us with a smile, made suggestions about menu items, and treated us with warmth and welcome. Gross. Greasy and slightly cold. Chili verde slipped on a tortilla instead of in chunks that fall apart. Literally looked like slop. Took 40 minutes to get food for 2 people. I been coming here for couple years and today was bad. My burrito had little bit of meat all tortilla! I had to rip the tortilla in the middle. I paid almost 30 bucks for tortilla. Yum!! I've been dying to try this place for lunch since it is less than 5 minutes from my job! I finally took the time to try it this afternoon. Fat burrito is nestled away in the corner of the rite aid shopping center. The staff was attentive, friendly, and helpful. I ended up ordering 3 different tacos since my indecisiveness got the best of me! I ordered the pollo asado, carne asada, and carnitas tacos. The tacos were the perfect size and super flavorful! I look forward to coming back again to try the puffy tacos, because they looked delicious! This is definitely going to be one of my go-to lunch spots from now on! read more

Taco Tuesday was calling me. Taco Tuesday said "Daniel, you must find another place to try tacos, on Tuesday". So I said to my phone "Yelp, find me a place nearby that has taco Tuesday specials", and it did. Fat Burrito was nearby and had good reviews. So off I went to Fat Burrito. When I got there the place was small but somewhat cozy. I asked the guy at the counter about their taco Tuesday specials and he kindly explained what they had to offer. There was a couple tables available so I sat and waited for my tacos. A few minutes later I found myself devouring 4 tacos, they never stood a chance. Each taco was full of meat but not greasy, the tortillas held up well and to be really honest, I was truly surprised at how good they were. Unfortunately I was on a lunch break so I was in a bit of a hurry. Nevertheless I am definitely coming back for more food soon. Good service and good food read more

Came across this hidden gem on a Tuesday morning, seen the puffy tacos and good reviews and had to try it out. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the pricing on the menu, it is PRICEY to me. I got one Carnitas puffy taco with plans to share a burrito with my boyfriend. The puffy taco was $5.99/taco. And we also got the Machaca burrito and added guacamole and sour cream. And I will say all of that was enough to be shared. In regards to the service- I would say it was great, the cashier was on his own along with the cook and they were nice, quick, and efficient. Food quality wise- I would love to start off with the carnitas puffy taco.. it did not disappoint. I would say it lived up to the hype. The first bite I had, my eyes lit up! The puffy aspect of the taco was just a fried corn tortilla (I believe) and it added a different flavor along with the sour cream and queso fresco. I loved this I will definitely be coming back for more. Next would be the burrito, which I wasn't a fan of.. I don't feel like there was anything special about it but it also wasn't "bad". And then last minute we got a carne asada puffy taco and that one wasn't as good as the carnitas.. which made me think their star was their carnitas. Overall, I'm giving it 3 stars because I don't think it was completely a 5 star place.. just the carnitas puffy taco is 5 stars. But I will be back! read more

The rice was crunchy, and the beans was not even above room temp. To me this indicates food that sat awhile.
