Service was ok, DJ was meh...DJ played some of the same songs that live band played which is a big no no...crowd was fun...everyone is there to have a good time...limited seating which to me is a plus bc you want everyone dancing, right?!! Ok-It's Bourbon St in NOLA, so go with a mindset of hardcore partying! Live music booms, and the band last night was awesome! The music was rock n roll from mostly in the 70's on up and really well covered! Back in early March, I spent a weekend in New Orleans for a bachelor party. As you can expect, debauchery on Bourbon ensued. I arrived later than most so I joined the party Friday night at Fat Catz. What Fat Catz is known for is live music and they had some going when I arrived. It was pretty packed when I was there so it took a little while to get a drink. Great entertainment and cheap booze! M we walked in to watch the bad performing and it seemed like everyone had a part in the band. They were very entertaining (though not the strongest vocals) bit definitely knew how to engage and keep the crowd happy and entertained. The bar was accessible and bartenders were quick to get your drinks. We spent a good 2 hours at least in this one bar. read more

The bartender has no idea how to make drinks. I ordered the Pina Colada the pictures show what her version is. Everywhere has Colada mix !!! The live music was on point until 6 pm then the bar turned on their playlist of music. Will not return, this is a Bar Rescue with John Taffer spot. read more

Was there tonight with my whole family, we spent well over $100 in drinks, the bar tender with tattoos all over her back and a piercing on her face was serving us when I asked her for a glass of water (which was tiny) then asked politely if I could have her fill it up again because I was trying to get home safely. She refused and said that I need to BUY a bottle of water. Keep in mind that the place was empty and these girls are just standing there doing nothing so My husband thinking that was ridiculous went across the room to get more beers and water which that bartender had no problem filling up more than once. The bitchy bartender then scoffed and called security to get me, my husband and his parents thrown out! She lied and said I called her names (which I would never ever do to anyone) my husband and his parents were right next to me and know that I would never do such a thing. Then the bouncer realized what she had done and apologized profusely, told us this isn't the first time she had done this and brought us in on the other side of the bar for drinks on the house. The fact that this place employs such an awful person like this that would treat my 65 yr old in laws in disgusting. We will NOT be back here as long as this awful person works there. read more

We love Fat Catz. It is our regular go-to place at night on Bourbon Street. They always have a great band that covers 70s music, with preference it seems to Southern Rock. The musicians are excellent, and are great entertainers. My only reservations about this place are (1) the drinks are overpriced and not as strong as those you get on the street, and (2) they have aides in the restroom who are quite aggressive about helping you (even if you don't want their help) and they do expect a tip whether or not you accept their help. But, all-in-all, Fat Catz is a great bar with great entertainment. read more

Hands down, this is my absolute FAVORITE dance spot on Bourbon Street. No matter what, this place is always jumping. They have a stage, where bands play live and jam all night long. Plus, there bar is large and it is very easy to get cocktails, beer, etc. They even have ladies walking around to sell you jello shots and other body shots for great fun. Plus, the location is right in the midst of all of the happenings in the French Quarter. ...and bonus: there is no drink minimum like so many other places on Bourbon. Go...dance and enjoy! read more

Rocking-n-rolling, dancing, and singing along to the 70s and 80s will guarantee a fun night ahead at Fat Catz! The regular cover band here rocks everyone's socks off and then some! They do a great job on bringing back the good ole days of rock and roll! Fat Catz is a casual, no-frills, no cover charge bar that welcomes all and the best part is the awesome rock band! I love jamming to U2, Journey, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Aerosmith, etc! The rock band is consistent, get the crowd riled up and even take requests throughout the night. You'll see all sorts of characters in the crowd here so people watching is always entertaining. I guess all the years of clubbing have made my ears more sensitive to loud music so I always have a pair of ear plugs handy(better safe than sorry right?!) - I don't want to lose my hearing anytime soon! Drinks are overpriced here so I come with one in hand. Stick with beer and you'll be fine. Beware the hustle of the test tube shot girls because some of them are overly aggressive in their tactics with their shots for all mentality. There is a ladies bathroom attendant for soap & towels, which I don't mind- hey everyone's gotta earn a living in one way or another. Keep your valuables/purses/wallets close to you as it sometimes gets crowded and a little too close for comfort. I hadn't been here since I was right out of college, but we stopped in for a drink as we were making our way down bourbon after the crescent city classic. They always seem to have live music, which is a very nice touch. It was quick and easy to get our drinks, and the bartenders seemed nice. When I used the restroom, it was nicer than most bourbon street bar restrooms; however it had a hilarious sign inside that I just had to take a picture of (attached). Apparently, people like to smoke pot in restrooms? Honestly, I didn't know places had that issue. Very amusing. read more

This is a touristy dive bar. It is filthy for sure. The crowd is fun, and the house band late night is talented. They play the same set list regularly, so you know what you will get when you go in (usually) They have the ability to read the crowd and can keep the party going. They throw in alot of hair metal, and take requests. They even managed to crank out a nice rendition of Sara Smile when my husband asked. I'm not sure what the bartenders do with all that alcohol because they cant seem to make anything I ask for. Some of them have specialty drinks, this is a gamble. Okay. This is for the pregnant bartender with the back tattoos. This is the only time I've ever had a bad experience on bourbon. We accidentally spilled another girls drink and go to get her another high noon. She says she's allergic to whatever flavoring is in the watermelon high noon. We ask for a high noon, anything but watermelon, she takes another drink order after us. Then looks back, and we say again high noon but anything but watermelon high noon. She pulls out a watermelon high noon. Whatever. We say oh anything but that. She then starts to crack the can open and we say okay whatever. I'm not buying that and go to the other bar in there. She proceeds to call security and get one of us kicked out. For the sole reason of us not wanting a watermelon high noon. That is what security told us. That we were getting kicked out because we didn't want the high noon we said we didn't want. After getting kicked out, we talked to security. Every single security guard told us that she is known to be mean because she is pregnant. I'm sorry, but how is that an excuse to our entire party out? Now there are plenty of other bars, and we don't mind going to another. But the woman stood behind the door flipping us off with her tongue out laughing. For a flipping high noon. Genuinely, I can't believe this bar would allow a woman so mean to work here. Someone who gets off on making other people upset. Several girls in our group were crying because she kept yelling at them from behind the bar when we were outside and flipping them off. If management check the cameras, they will see it. It is an absolute disgrace to New Orleans. It's ridiculous. I beg you please, to not patronize this business, for they do not care about their customers. And even if you do go there, do not go see that woman, because god forbid she hear your order wrong, then it's another $50 of drinks wasted. read more

Fat Catz is super lighthearted fun. We happened in on a sunny NOLA Saturday afternoon and heard fun, simple live music. The Band "Konnection" covers stuff from the 70s, 80s and 90s (think Commodores not heavy metal). Sure the crowd was already wasted, but its New Orleans for heavens sake. It is a hoot to see folks in their 70s and up shake their groove things. NOTE: a $1.00 surcharge is added to each credit card transaction. So bring cash. Tables and hard to come by, they could add a few more 2-tops. The "dee jay" they use during band breaks, is, as others have noted, very lame and somewhat obnoxious. FAT CATZ bar is without question, one of the best places to chill and groove to very good renditions of classic rock favorites! If you love classic rock music, then this is definitely the place to go on Bourbon street. We went there on a Friday and it was totally rocking! The band was simply amazing belting out favorite oldies by Pink Floyd, Zepplin, Lynrd Sknyrd, Chicago, Grand Funk Railroad etc. The crowd was generally above 40 though there were quite a few younger folks too. The lead singer was a real cool guy in shorts sporting dark glasses with a very good voice. So good in fact, that during the break I requested him for their business card to see if they could come to San Francisco and do a gig for my wife's 50th birthday. The band is called RockBox. The lead guitarist had magic fingers, playing tunes which sounded almost like the original cut! The guy on the keyboard was also fantastic, his fingers simply flying on the keys belting out amazing sounds. The place is mostly a bar serving all kinds of drinks and had a good selection of beers. There was no cover charge either on weekdays or weekends like most other bars on Bourbon street. I ended up visiting Fat Catz three nights of our 5 night stay in New Orleans. It should be noted that this band plays only on the weekends. On weekdays, there was another group playing classic rock but did not sound anywhere close to RockBox. Though they start playing around 7 PM, it really gets going after 9 PM. I would highly recommend this place if you love classic rock. read more

The band playing and singing were great!! one lady in an all male band. The lead singer resembled Michael Bivens of Bell, Biv, Devoe. There is no cover charge, 21+ to enter. Everyone dancing and having a good time. I really enjoyed seeing seeing the mature crowd 60+ dancing and enjoying themselves along with everyone else and some still have dance skills. Bouncer extorted me for $100 cash for a "fake" ID that was actually a real ID. I walked in with my girlfriend, her sister, and boyfriend. As soon as the two men with us (myself and sister's boyfriend) approached the bar, the head bouncer (short, 5'8", black male) approached my girlfriend and her sister and threw my girlfriend out over claims of a fake ID. Once he realized I fit the stereotype of straight, white, male, he attempted to extort me for $100 cash to get her ID back. As per Louisiana law, theft of an identification card is illegal and theft of personal property is a misdemeanor. I will never be back after being a Fat Catz patron for over 5 years, bringing all of my tourist friends into the bar. read more

Tried to come into this establishment and the bouncer said my ID was expired. I told him that it wasn't, then he started to get rude with me and I tried to explain to him that it wasn't expired. I tried to show the other bouncer and he agreed and tried to let me in. The other bouncer JUMPED in front of me and denied me entrance just because he wanted to at this point. I asked for the boss and he was JUST as rude and denied me entrance because the bouncer said he was just trying to joke around with me (he wasn't, the other bouncer even said that he treats all the women like this).
