I've never been a fan of breakfast and I'm also a picky vegetarian who avoids eating out. I went to Faye's with a group and had the best breakfast I have ever had in my life! Seriously. Firstly, our server was amazing. Friendly and genuinely helpful. He suggested I have "Faye's Choice". I told him it must be veg and the 1 or 2 foods I don't care for... and then I put my trust in Faye. There were 7 of us who ordered Faye's Choice and we all received something different and AMAZING. She made me 3 tacos, each with slightly different ingredients and delicious sauces. The atmosphere also adds to the experience. Located in an old school building, the tables and furnishings are an eclectic collection of finds: mismatched cloth napkins, local art, handmade pottery and funky s/p shakers at each table. I randomly found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did. I said "mmmm!" After every bite. The flavor in every bite was amazing. I've never eaten food at a breakfast place that was made with so much love. I will definitely be back and hopefully soon! The restraunt is located in a gorgeous historic building across the street from a lovely historic church with the cutest bell tower. We were excited to try this place, after all the reviews. I ordered the waffle, scrambled eggs, and cheesy grits. The waitress advised me the grits were slightly spicy and I welcomed the experience. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, and the huckleberry bacon. My husband did not receive his eggs, and I did not receive my grits. I advised Sarah I had not received my grits and she was very apologetic. No problem. Then after about another 15 or 20 min I asked if I could just get them to go, and she had not even put the order in. Two people forgetting the grits three times is not coincidental. Perhaps it was intentional on both of our meals to forget an item when we found out upon cashing out that it is a flat rate per person. The food we received was very good, and the service (especially the entertainment) was very nice with the uncomfortable situation. Needless to say I typically do not write reviews, but this really stood out as odd with all five star reviews. read more

Real silverware and cloth napkins. Very tall ceilings and maple floors. Classic classroom windows lighting a well appointed space. A real place to enjoy some real room after a long ride in the van. Faye's is located in the renovated, classic public school building, a massive brick edifice that has taken 3 to five years to update and convert into this successful arts center. Spending some time with the service staff learning to navigate the menu. It is unique, like a game, and fun. It encourages substitutions. Lots of substitutions. Today's fish is crab, so I'm devising a way to include it in my twisty taco. Our table is also ordering a cheese omelette and the "Best Breakfast Sandwich Ever." I'm drinking their French press coffee and it is so fine I'm drinking it black. The tea selection is Stash, Tazo, Yogi, Wisdom, Traditional Medicinals, and Bigelow. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I'm still trying to get my mind around the fact that I came to Livingston to find the best crab tacos I could ever imagine. read more

Wow!!! Don't miss this place when in Livingston! Not only is Faye (and everyone who works there) super cool, the food is absolutely delicious and creative!! My girlfriend and I decided to check it out on our way to Chico after reading all the positive reviews and we were glad we did. It was a little off the beaten path, tucked into a corner of the performing arts building. The place was well decorated with artwork and tons of knickknacks on the walls, giving it a homey vibe. They were playing the Pixies too so that's a plus in my book! Of course the food was the reason we came and it was delicious, they have a handful of basic menu items plus flavor twists you can add on. These consisted of things like pulled pork and sauces or vegetables, all sorts of things to add variety. The service was excellent and the coffee was strong, just how I like it. Not only is the food incredibly delicious, the atmosphere and service is just as excellent. I love that you can order the already amazing mac and cheese but you can add a "yummtwist" to it. This option allows you to add any variety of delectable delights to your dish. I added pesto and bacon to mine. :) I had the lemonade of the day which was cranberry. WOW! Another thing I loved...cake bites. Bite sized pieces of cake. You can try several and not feel bad!! Keep up the good work. Can't wait to come back and try breakfast or a grilled cheese. Yup, there's a reason why this place has perfect reviews from everyone, it's that good. Stopped in while driving across the country and was in dire need of something that wasn't fast food. The place was a little challenging to find but listen to your GPS, it's in that big brick building. Upon first impressions, the entire place was clean and well decorated. Was in an interesting building many different things going on . The cafe is in one of the rooms that must have been a classroom or something of that sort. Kind of noisy. What an amazing little find in Livingston! Hard to find but look for yard signs that will help guide your way. Wait staff is so friendly and explains all the yumtwist and what exactly is an amazeball??? First off the atmosphere made me feel like I was back on my great grandmothers farm in her kitchen waiting to taste her recent creation! I was passing through Livingston this morning and decided to stop in at Faye's Cafe. I was graciously greeted by Sarah as soon as I walked in. She sat me at an amazing table by the window and explained the menu and concept of her cafe. I decided to go with the special which was a biscuit and gravy burrito and cheese cake waffle. Boy! I was not disappointed with that decision!! The food was like a terrorist setting a bomb off in my mouth. The flavor was incredible! It's like when you go crabbing but always throw that special crab back when the pot is full. As I finished my meal I gazed upon the local art work that filled the wall. There is an incredible artist by the name of Elise Love, I highly recommend researching her work. What a story! As I made my way to pay the bill I was approached by the local hound "butch".
