We hired them for a new outdoor deck electrical installation. After then initial visit, we had to call them back because the power cut out. The electrician then informed us that the outdoor GFCI outlet needed to be replaced with a weatherproof unit. However they charged us ADDITIONAL two full hours of labor even though the REVISIT lasted no more than 15 minutes. To make matters worse, the issue still has NOT been properly resolved. The outdoor outlet continues to malfunction, and we are now left unsure whether the work was done correctly at all.

Everyone has been really great to work with. May 2024 - I finally scheduled our annual maintenance. They sent James out. He was fantastic. A wealth of knowledge, polite and professional. I signed up for the annual maintenance plan to save money. He made good recommendations based on my needs and concerns of my allergies. Much appreciated! 2026 update - our heat pump stopped working and needed replacement parts. I paid for them to send a tech to diagnose it and they followed through with the work which is under the 10-year warranty. Tech, Hagen was very nice and professional and made sure to answer all of my questions. Kudos to the office staff, Brittny, Erin and everyone who took my calls while I was eagerly waiting for parts & repair. They treated me very kindly and proactively communicated each step of the way. I hope that this fix lasts a long time, or at least until we upgrade to a newer, more environmentally friendly unit.

Because the cost was likely to be high, I emailed Daniel to ask for the range of the cost. He then offered to come to my house to give me a free estimate. If you have ever called any electricians, you should know most electricians bill based on trip charge (basic fee) plus labor time and material. Even they do nothing, they still charge for just showing up at the door. I was very happy that Daniel was willing to come out to give me a free estimate. This just makes him distinguishable from other electricians. He gave me a very detailed estimate. The price was reasonable, so I accepted it. Later I told him that I might need to replace an indoor outlet as it's loose. He offered to do it for free! What a wonderful customer service! Moses was the one who actually showed up to do the work. He's very polite and friendly. He explained to me his work. He was very patient with me when I didn't understand his explanation. He was great to work with. He also cleaned up after his work. His work showed a very good quality. I would highly recommend Strands Electric. Of course, whenever I need someone to do some electrical work, I will call Strands Electric.

I pitched a project via Yelp to install cooling and replace the furnace to all of the most highly rated companies in the area. All of them recommended a heat pump as opposed to traditional AC. Better Air NW's proposal was not only the least expensive by a fair margin, but also offered the highest quality machines and best warranties. Normally, I'd be pretty skeptical at that combination, but all of the positive reviews on Yelp convinced me to accept their offer. A few days later, as I write this I'm basking in the warmth of my new heater. The installation was smooth, painless, and well done. Despite some unexpected challenges in the home's design to figure out and overcome, they charged exactly their estimate; there were none of the kind of headaches or scams that one often expects dealing with contractors. All in all, great experience, these folks deserve their lofty reputation.

Better Air NW was the only one who didn't give us pricing or a plan and the only one we had a negative experience with. During our in-person consultation, Jered focused on our HOA almost the entire time. Our HOA does have requirements in this area that we don't think are enforceable anymore, and in any case, that's our issue to sort out once a proposal is in place. We reassured Jered we would handle the HOA ourselves and wanted him to treat it like any other job: propose whatever setup his experience would call for and walk us through a plan and pricing. He kept coming back to the HOA anyway, and we struggled to get him to focus on the plan instead. He even told us one of the rooms was "impossible," and when we asked why, the answer was the HOA. It really felt like we were grasping at straws here. By the end of the consultation, our time had been wasted and we still didn't have any pricing or a plan. Later, he texted us that they couldn't do the job, without giving a reason. Since we never got one, we were left to guess: to us, the constant focus on the HOA came across as an easy way to pass on a job they didn't want to take on. No other contractor had trouble coming up with a proposal and pricing. Either way, our suggestion to Better Air NW is to be upfront.

He was very professional and used a laser to measure square footage, thus No Questions about square footage. He took the time to tell us about the products used and the techniques used. We were informed about challenging areas and what to expect regarding the cleaning of our 28 year old light colored carpet. We are Thrilled ! Forrest did an Excellent job cleaning our carpet and it looks as good as it did on day one of installation! Secondly, Forrest was professional, respectful, careful and competent. I had Firelight come out for an unusual reason: to determine if the masonry monstrosity in the…read morecenter of my home was an original thermal mass heating system, and IF SO, to check the chimney to determine if it is safe to use the firebox in the basement. I found the company to be very professional, all the way from first contact, several calls to schedule, and through to to arrival. The tech was on time and followed instructions to call 5-minutes out so I could corral my protective German Shepherd. The tech was impressively knowledgeable about ancient heating systems, and did a thorough inspection of the masonry and mortar on all three floors and gave me wise advice, which I very much appreciated. I was surprised the tech knew about thermal mass heating that was common in the 1800's to about the mid 1920's. I think he enjoyed getting an unusual service call. Nothing was broken, I just needed confirmation of my suspicion, a chimney/mortar inspection, and advice on safety. I had them do a full inspection on this...monstrosity. Note there is NO FIREPLACE--there has never been one, but there IS a firebox and clean out in the BASEMENT! SEE PHOTOS and descriptions for details. Turns out--this thing IS an original heating system from 1920. Thermal Mass. It was used by building a small hot fire in the basement firebox, load some coal, and let it go. The heat is captured in the brick and held like a battery, released over time. The main floor section is a SOLID MASS OF BRICK. There was never a fireplace there. When the fire burns down, the warm bricks give off heat on the main floor for 8-10 more hours. Thermal Mass Heating. --Rightly, I was advised it's not a good idea to use it, but in case of an emergency... I could. It will still work as intended and the chimney is safe for occasional emergency use. --Later, in the 1940's, someone tied into the flue on the main floor for a wood stove, then in the 1960's that was closed off when natural gas was installed, along with cast iron baseboards--heated by a gas boiler. Hydronic heat via cast iron baseboards is the Best Heat Ever. No blowing air. Just Warm, Penetrating Deep Warmth. Hydronic Radiant Heat heats OBJECTS, not air. THANK YOU FUSE!!!
