4 stars for the cocktails! Skip the food. We arrived on a Saturday night and it was not packed. It is located in downtown Minneapolis. The place is beautiful inside. I am very impressed with the cocktails! I had Rosemary's Baby and it was presented by our awesome waiter, first he burns the rosemary in the glass, put a block of ice in then poured the drink. My favorite drink is Telephone Call from Istanbul because it is Old Fashioned. Again our waiter lit something on fire so you can smell the smoke and he suddenly dropped the ice in the glass and poured whiskey. So good! My friends all enjoyed their drinks, they had What She's Having, Suicide Manhattan and Angels With Filthy Souls. Great cocktail presentations! Let us talk about the food, I am not very pleased. We ordered Tuna tartare and fish smell was awful. Smell and taste of fish was way too strong. Since I ordered the meal no one wanted to eat mine, so I ate it. Moroccan fried chicken with harissa bbq was not good and undercooked. We did not finish it. Shakshuka tomato tartine was good, not the best. So the only thing that was delicious was their Pommes frites because it was served in a brown bag and it was hot and crispy. Service is a little slow in the beginning but our waiter was super cool and friendly. I will definitely come back for their cocktails and hang out at the bar! read more

Incredible service, amazing flavors and great value. Found it on a lark since it was next door to the hotel after arriving on the later side. They just so happened to have room for us and we were so pleased they did. We left completely satisfied and will definitely return. Highlights were the lamb cigars and the crème brûlée. Food was legitimately fantastic. One of the best burgers in town. The harissa and sausage on warm soft baguette was delicious. We came in at 9:30pm so only social hour menu was available. Staff was friendly and mostly kind, but order was messed up, The bartender wasn't as interested when we weren't ordering drinks (they asked us sit at the bar given the time). Food came out wrong, then I got the right ticket, but he ran my card for a different ticket so when I gave my card and when they ran my card were two different transactions. The person who appeared to be the bar manager had to comp the person next to me but he also seemed hard on his staff. Also the bartender kept blaming the kitchen and the POS. I've been a fan of David Fhima for a while - he's had some great restaurants over the years (Minneapolis Cafe, Louis XIII, Zahtar, and Faces at Mears Park) and he continues to produce great food. If you haven't been to Fhima's, located in downtown Minneapolis, I recommend checking it out. The bar is fantastic with some great mixologists who are not only entertaining but can make a wickedly good cocktail. As for the food, definitely falls back to David's heritage with a French twist of course. The particular night my friend and I rolled into Fhima's, we sat at the bar, had a couple of drinks and both ordered the Moroccan fried chicken sandwich. Think of the best fried chicken sandwich you've had (yes, better than Chick-fil-A or Popeyes), add some Moroccan spice, flavor and heat to it and put it on a grilled challah bun with some harissa BBQ, blue cheese and house pickles - absolutely delicious. Served with a side of fries, that some might say remind them of McDonald's fries (I think better) and this is a nice complete meal. The price is a little steeper than the places I mentioned but what do you expect for the quality of the food and ambience in this historical location. I think the food is great, drinks are terrific, and David is a true gentleman - it's very heartwarming to see what he's doing for the community during this difficult time and I wish him nothing but future success once things return to normal. read more

I went to Fhima's for Happy Hour. I had such a wonderful experience. First off, I loved the ambience of the restaurant. It was so cozy and warm, with a dark interior. The cool thing about Fhima's HH is they have a Chose Your Own Adventure drink special, where you pick your preferred spirit, and then the bar surprises you with a drink. I loved the tequila cocktail they brought for me. The snacks I ordered were also great. I'll definitely go back for another after work cocktail! read more

This review would be a "zero" if possible and all due to the Front Manager and hostess on Saturday night, October 5. We made a reservation for four more than a week prior on Tock originally for 6:45 PM. We arrived about 20 minutes early and the hostess, who was playing a game on her phone when we walked in, lead us to our table, past MANY empty booths and tables, to a large, round table meant to seat eight. It was in the back of the restaurant, near the bathrooms and the exit to the skyway lower level exit. The four chairs were set as if there was a movie filming - i.e. in a half circle! We said that the table was too big and we would not be able to talk comfortably and asked for a smaller table or preferably booth, since we had seen so many empty ones. She said that they were all reserved and stated that "parties of two or three will feel uncomfortable at such as large table, so this was our table". She then went to get her managers, a short, dark haired man, who repeated her line that Fhima's was fully booked and that the booths had all been "requested". I asked how these people had requested a specific booth or table, when Tock doesn't give the abilty to request that. He had no answer, just stated that some people do request specific tables. We then stated it was unacceptable and walked out, and I made a point of counting the number of booths that had more than two people in them - four! We then were able to get into Zelo's and had a fantastic meal! Having been to many of David Fhima's restaurants in the past, I do enjoy his food, although overpriced. However, this is the last time I will step into one of his establishments. This sort of poor customer service comes from the top and seeps down. I don't blame the hostess, but do blame the totally tone-deaf manager who never thought we'd walk out. His business acuman is certainly lacking, as making a four people happy and spending money is beter than claiming all the other two tops in the restaurant had "requested" specific tables. read more

Based on reco from bartender order the Conchiglie, upgraded the bread and a side salad. Well packed for take out and delicious in every way. The space looks great and the bar was perfect. We went for a birthday dinner on a Saturday night and it seemed like they didn't have half the menu available. The bread came cold.

Genuinely disappointed, not at all what I was expecting. Started with the taste of Morocco and the bread was under cooked and just looked at other photos of the appetizer, ours was a sad version of it. No attention to detail. In the hopes of a better second course but still hesitant, ordered the lamb cigars, they were over spiced and very greasy. It was dripping with oil. Then to end it off, the profiterole was stale. Oh, and the coffee I ordered, cold. I will end on some good notes those to save face: the wait staff was kind, the hummus was good, I appreciated the attempt at a good menu, and the lavender in the chocolate for the dessert was good. I wanted to LOVE this place. The atmosphere was wonderful and simply being out with my family, makes any experience wonderful. However, I was sorely disappointed with the service and my personal order. Service was slow and unorganized. At a place that identifies themselves a fine dining, calling off orders at the table just does not fit. But, we can accept that. In general, the waiter did not seem to know the food menu or drinks well. Another waiter presented one of the drinks, but did not know what the drink was called. It just felt odd when we would ask questions about food/drink and then no-one seemed to know the answer. The table ordered the Moroccan Sample and Maakouda, both of which were delicious. I personally ordered a Wagyu steak with pommes frites. I asked the waiter if I could substitute for their mashed potatoes. I was told that this was not an option. I accepted this, but knew it was incorrect. The Wagyu was incredibly over cooked and chewy; inedible. My husbands chicken was also overcooked. I will acknowledges that others enjoyed the meals they ordered, but for me, the prices just didn't match my experience. read more

First time there, on the occasion of my wife's birthday and our upcoming trip to Morocco. We split the "Taste of Morocco", which we thought was excellent, and also split the Onion and Fig Tarte as well as the beef Tagine. All of it tasted great, with flavors both rich and unexpected. Three were perfect for six people sharing. Over all the main menu was not really Mediterranean. Chicken grilled was good, my steak was served with a "Mediterranean" sauce... was low on sauce and the meat itself was not a good quality too chewy... for my taste. A better quality meat peace would have been much better suited. Side order or potato chips too thin and too crunchy and over done... some times just because they were so thin. We had a great experience at Fhima's on Sat 3/9/19. We had a quick stop for soup and salad at the bar, thanks to yet another snowstorm and the related slow traffic. We had tickets for a 7:30 PM dance performance and we arrived for our meal at 6:55 PM. The staff was extremely helpful, friendly and upbeat. The soup was a wild rice, motel mushroom creamy creation - it was delicious. The salad of the day was the chef's take on Caesar salad - also delicious. Both were presented with great skill and quickl The atmosphere of this restaurant is classic Art Deco period design. The bar was beautifully lit and very calming. The bartender gave us a taste of their current cocktail creation and it was wonderfully warming on a chilly evening. It is a great spot for a special occasion or for a quick meal as we learned. I want to first say... some of the photos posted here on yelp are not a true testament to how great and beautiful the food really is. The restaurant is dimmer which makes for an awesome ambience but it also means terrible smart phone photos. (Haha) We pretty much ordered a bunch of stuff and I got to try a little bit of everything. Wagyu tenderloin and Potato Dauphinoise was amazing!!! The meat melted in my mouth and the potato side had the perfect little crisp to each bite. Much more interesting than your classic mashed potato side. All the food here is really interesting to be honest. You wouldn't think white chocolate would work on a savory dinner entree but it does! It's like a master chef challenge that they've surpassed with flying colors (for those of you who are Gordan Ramsey fans). It is a bit on the sweeter side of things so if that's not your thing, get another entree. The sea bass in the bouilla-broth was cooked beautifully and was a super light option. I also approved! Try the cocktails! There's one where they light it on fire and it was very tasty. Other notable dishes... Moroccan chicken, which many would agree with The Poussin (whole chicken) was good but the champagne truffles potatoes it came with was even better! I kid you not, I scraped up every last bite. Less notable dishes... I did not care for the wild rice soup. Nothing special about it. Gnocchi and rabbit was just fine.... All in all make your way to Fhima's for an interesting culinary journey and a fancy dinner. ;) read more

My friend is here from Savannah so I wanted to take him to my favorite Minneapolis restaurant for dinner... YES, we went to Fhima's Minneapolis and YES he loved it. We started our meal with, my favorite, the steak tartar (pictured) and a Taste of Morocco then we split a Waygu burger (the BEST burger in MN) and Pommes frites and I had the wedge salad with pork belly (another fave, OMG) and he had Scallop and Shrimp Ras al Hanout Crudo. Everything was perfect. We sat at the bar and Norm was awesome - his service and his drinks (checkout that Manhattan on Fire below).
