Not only were they playing all the songs I was familiar with from the West Coast, but they also had phenomenal service and great food. The atmosphere was vibrant with bar and tables occupied throughout on our midweek visit. We ordered cocktails - the 405 for me that featured Uncle Nearest Whiskey. It was a combination of whiskey, created by a Black gentleman associated with creating liquor for the Jack Daniels' family, with lemon juice and honey. It was ultra smooth and led to purchase of bottle at a later date. I ordered the steak and my companion had the salmon. Both meals and accompanying side dishes were excellent. My medium steak was well marinated and the salmon was very good (smaller than hoped, but good). The side dishes complimented the main items. Added the strawberry cake to complete the meal. It was a large portion, not too sweet and enough to share. Will definitely return. Prices were average for food received, but the customer service cemented Fin and Feathers as a place I will patronize again. I came here with my my mentor for brunch, and I'm conflicted. If this was pre-COVID, I would have given 5 stars. But the absolute lack of social distancing, and partial mask wearing of staff was terrible. The bartender, while nice, prompt, and a good server, had his mask below his chin the ENTIRE time. This spot is definitely a hip vibe. The dj was amazing and continuously played jams that made me want to get up out of my seat. He definitely enhanced the experience. From the bar, to hookah, to the crowd Fin and feather definitely has something to offer. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection and the broccoli was delicious. The flavor of the lamb chops explodes in your mouth. I almost forgot I was eating broccoli. A few tips, park around the corner for free and walk over, they charge 20% gratuity built into your bill, if you check in on Yelp there is a 10% coupon currently, but you can only use it if you have a prior receipt with you. My wife and I had planned on having brunch at the new spot, Breakfast at Barney's. But when we pulled up, the line was out the door and there was no parking available. So I looked on Yelp for another nearby place and Fin & Feathers popped up as a suggestion and we gave it a try. We walked in and were surprised to see it was a hookah bar with a live DJ. We could tell it was upscale and a little hood at the same time, which was fine with us. As another review stated, I was conflicted on my rating. If this were pre-Covid, it's a solid 4. The music, the food, and the attentiveness was great. But the lack of social distancing and mask wearing made us so uncomfortable! But because of that, I've got to give a 3! When we first arrived there weren't very many people there at all. We noticed the masks being worn as chin straps by most of the staff, but our server actually wore hers properly. But as we sat and ate, more and more people arrived. They filled the restaurant from the back to the front, and ultimately sat a group RIGHT NEXT TO US!! I asked if we could move to another empty table on the left, but was told someone had it reserved (they never arrived ). So now the food & drinks. My wife ordered the Melrose Ave, which the menu describes as "A fruity summer cocktail made with Peach Ciroc & pineapple." Delicious!! Just the right amount of alcohol that you aren't feeling cheated, but also aren't regretting ordering a cocktail at 11am And on a side note, I've been talking to my wife about moving to LA. As we looked at the drinks, I said "This is a sign!" They're all named after famous LA streets & highways. Melrose Ave cocktail: 5 stars Steak & Eggs: 5 stars - steak cooked perfect medium rare; aggressively seasoned, but not overpowering or too salty. The eggs were a nice sunny-side-up, the potatoes were excellent, and the biscuit was DELICIOUS! Fried Catfish & Grits: 2.5 stars - this was the low point of the brunch. The grits were fine, but the fish was way too salty! My wife tried to eat it, but ultimately couldn't get more than a quarter of it down. We sent it back, but because she ate the grits & 1/4 of the fish, we didn't ask for a refund. After the pandemic is over, we'll definitely be back. We had reservations for 10:45am (we appreciate them squeezing us in!) if you're going for the bottomless Mimosas, they do not start serving alcohol until 11 AM. We were greeted promptly at the door by the hostess and then by our waiter once seated. We took a moment to browse the menu. Lately I have been on a Shrimp & Grits kick! I saw that they offered Lobster & Grits, so I jumped on it! It sounded delicious! It didn't take too long for our food to come out. Our food wasn't hot (temperature wise) but a little warmer than room temperature. The portion size was a huge disappointment! I was super hungry (partied hard the night before). After 15 minutes of waiting my friend asked a waitress nearby to come over and the lady walked over rolled her eyes and walked away without one word being said to her. (Side note: if it had been my decision I would've left after 5 minutes of no service) yet a group of 8 sat next to our table had no reservation and was serviced within SECONDS of sitting down. Ok let me start by saying all of the reviews saying "its a party" are correct, but I'd go a step further and say its a club or as I later in the review decided a day party. Parking: is a hot mess in this area and there's everything from random people charging you $10 for street parking to a small and a rather smaller parking "lot" next to the location which is $20. I ended up parking in the park mobile lot at the end of the block and it was $10 for 2 hours which I felt better about. I went on a Sunday for brunch with the attention of bottomless mimosas which were $20 per person since it was after 12p when its $10 before. The mimosas weren't very good. Cheap champagne and cheap orange juice which make for a bitter cocktail. That was the only drink we had and we had about 4 carafes for a table of 3. The food was meh. I ordered the $24 steak and eggs with a biscuit and grits - medium well steak which it wasn't but it also wasn't well done so I didn't bother to send it back.. the saving grace was it was seasoned decently also, scrambled eggs which were salty and sprinkled with parsley, and grits which needed to be thrown away as they were stiff as a board and flavorless. My nephew and his girlfriend ordered the $14 California omelet (and it was huge and he enjoyed it) and the $15 French toast and I had a piece and it was very good. The music was loud as hell and we could barely hear ourselves let alone our server who was just ok in my opinion at least until she rushed us out "needing" our table for a place that was relatively empty by the time we dined and vibed a bit - maybe 2 hours at the most. There was lots of twerking and hookahs and all the things reminiscent of a day party. Ha that just came to me as I thought about the MC, dancing, hookah, food, and loud music at 3p.
