Stayed at the Dana on Mission Bay. This was our second time here, but the first visit was a few years back. Customer Service - The hostess could have been a little friendlier. She looked confused idk, maybe she was still waking up ‍ Our waitress on the other hand was super attentive and friendly. Considering we came for their buffet breakfast her service was exceptional. The also had an omelet station, and the chef too had exceptional customer service. 9/10 overall. Food - Omelet (veggie w/cheese) was delicious. Sausage & bacon was flavorful and cooked well. Oatmeal was good, and pancakes ok. Everything else was meh. Cost - Currently $24.99 adults and $12.99 kids. A bit pricey for what was offered. I've had FREE breakfasts at other hotels that were much better. It was convenient. read more

We stayed at the Dana and decided to indulge in some late night drinks and desserts. I wasn't sure which cider, seltzer, or sour ale to order and they gave us a complimentary "taster menu" of three of their drinks (they were all amazing). We dined here as resort guests and the location is really peaceful and inviting. You get views of the marina and tabletop firepits at some of the seating areas. Our servers were always attentive and friendly, never had any issue with any kind of requests. Our first meal was dinner for our first night. Exhausted and hungry, we were looking forward to a comforting meal. My sister ordered their filet and loved the mashed potatoes and french green beans. My meal unfortunately was super salty on the baked salmon. My chicken tortilla soup lacked flavor and needed the salt that covered the salmon. Not ever a fan of sending things back, but our last meal here, our steaks were so overly cooked and over salted. Our server was kind enough to send them back to the chef. The wine selection was somewhat limited but prices were reasonable given it was resort dining. Breakfast was an option for convenience. The omelette station is great if you prefer a big breakfast and made to order. The breakfast buffet super star were the waffles and french toast. Both were really good and probably the best items besides the baked goods. Bacon and sausage had gotten tough from either sitting long or being overcooked. The oatmeal station could have used some fresh fruit besides brown sugar as toppings. Just as we experienced everywhere else, there is at least a 5% surcharge due to supply chain issues. Overall, if you are looking for convenience and simplicity, the food is decent but really just take in the view and ambience. read more

We're all trying to figure it out. The breakfast crew's solid, and they've got these lattes with lavender, which sounds fancy, but whatever, it works. But seriously, if you're coming here for dinner, get the ribs. Don't even think about it. I thought I was walking into some SeaWorld nightmare, with kids crying and dolphins doing tricks or something. But the people here? Actually pretty cool. They know how to treat you. We got married here at The Dana so we wanted to swing by again. Since kids eat free in October, each kid got a free kids meal with a paid adult entree. Everything was pretty tasty and they follow the proper social distancing and outdoor dining rules. Only issue was they didn't have any heat lamps. So bundle up. Fish Tacos (4): They were good. Crispy fish. Served with fries. Solid. Mac n Cheese (4): Super cheesy with bread crumblies on top. Brussel Sprouts (5): Loved these. Crispy. Not too oily. Good flavor. They also had a taco station when we went so we ordered a few tacos and they were good. Your standard street taco which we like. The outdoor dining was comfortable and the atmosphere was relaxing. Nice place marred by a 5% junk fee and somewhat uninspired service. Sad that California had to make a special law just to eliminate these types of fees, which comes into effect on July 1st 2024. The ambience is fine and rather classy; the exterior is nice and would be pleasant in the summer. We didn't try the food so I can't comment on that. The drinks are a measured poor with an extra splash. Rather forgettable probably wouldn't come here again but not an unpleasant experience. 3.5 stars rounded up to four. read more

I visited the Firefly multiple times during my stay at The Dana on Mission Bay. I felt very welcome as the staff were all very friendly, customer service oriented, conversational and in some cases off the charts accommodating. The food was excellent. During my various lunches and dinners at Firefly, I had the salmon, the Wagyu burger, which was so delicious, fish tacos, Korean style chicken wings, cheese flatbread, and the herb seasoned chicken. I was pleased with all of my meals. Shout outs to Jacob and Mary who were simply delightful. Everyone who worked there was great, I just had the most interactions with them. We went last night It has definitely declined sine our visit in 2019. They used to have a delightful cheese board appetizer. This time we had chips and guacamole as recommended by our waitress. Guac was nice and fresh. Chips were flour tortilla chips. One had fish and chips, others shared mushroom pasta. In general I have to say their food went down a star. All in all it is convenient at the Dana Hotel and great place to get drinks. Service was good. read more

This restaurant is located onsite at The Dana Mission. Such an amazing view and outdoor area. We had the breakfast buffet, so much to choose from and a freshly made omelet bar. I have been to this location multiple times and have never been disappointed. The service is the star! Cannot say enough about how great the service is!! We ate at The Firefly since we were guests at the resort. I was not overly impressed with the food or drinks. The guacamole and salsa appetizer was good. My oldest son and I both ordered the filet mignon. I requested mine be cooked medium rare and my son requested his cooked medium. We both received well-done steaks. My youngest son ordered chicken nuggets and they were soggy. My husband ordered the sea bass and requested brussel sprouts. His brussel sprouts were super salty. I ordered an old fashion cocktail and it wasn't properly made. The outdoor dining area was nice and the fire pits and heaters were great to warm you when it got a little cooler. We also enjoyed the live music. Our server was sweet and attentive. We would have loved the convenience of eating on the resort, if the food and drinks were better quality. read more

The only reason to come here is if it's convenient. We were hotel guests and had drink vouchers to use from Expedia, so we came to use. First there was a 30 min wait, because kitchen was backed up. That was fine but what wasn't fine is she sat us at this nice fire table and then hostess made us get up and leave because she forgot about a reservation. The ppl who sat there in our place actually turned off the fire at fire table. We would of loved that. Eventually we got sat again and Manager did make up for the incident and comp a round of drinks. I wish we liked it. We got the Paloma and it had a smokey harsh taste. Unfortunately we wasted it. The Wagyu burger wasn't anything impressive and I have had Wagyu. First time trying this restaurant and I have to give it 5 starts from start to finish, from food to service and bonus live music! Beautiful ambiance, I was offered a fire pit table on a chilly night. Drinks were mixed well, I had a patron margarita and an Irish coffee. I ordered the salmon with a crab topping with a side of asparagus and the most delicious polenta patty. The dessert was also on point, peach cheesecake tart ... delicious! I may not necessarily stay at this hotel but I will definitely be coming back to this restaurant.
