My boyfriend and I came here while visiting Nashville for the weekend. At first it seems like one of those hipster brunch spots with healthyish menu options that are too foreign or too tasteless to actually taste good, bit it turns out that it's only really half healthyish. The menu is actually pretty normal if you're a person who likes classic breakfast thingals like pancakes waffles bacon and unhealthy things. I had the biscuits and turkey sausage gravy with potatoes. If I had known it was actually just one biscuit cut in half and smothered in gravy, I would have ordered something else. The gravy was good though and the potatoes were delish. I asked for scrambled eggs but I'm pretty sure they gave me an overfried egg, chopped up in pieces. Despite the uncertainty of what you get as opposed to what you order, it's a pretty cool spot for breakfast/brunch. Seems to be a 10-30 minute wait on Saturdays and Sundays. read more

Ok - let's get the bad stuff out of the way first: People have found out about this place way too fast. They don't have any mimosas at Brunch...which, to me anyway, is a brunch staple! It's like Bread without butter, a concert without music, Cagney without Lacey! You know...CRUCIAL STUFF! Now that we have that out of the way - let's get to what makes this place great. And the answer is: Pretty much everything. It seems in this day in age people using fresh ingredients, doing prep work same day and cooking to order is unusual. Especially in a 'chain' restaurant. However, First Watch has proven it can be done and they do it well. I remember a couple months back I read an article about how First Watch was building restaurants in Tennessee. I was so excited! I had only had First Watch when I was able to visit St Louis. I enjoyed it so much my first time there I decided that anytime I came back - I'd have to have breakfast or brunch there before I left. Now I can visit First Watch anytime I want. And I wanted to twice this weekend! So, I went once on Saturday morning and again Sunday morning. A few things I want to mention about the food: You won't go wrong with anything you choose. Personally, I had The Trifecta and it is amazing. A waffle (or they'll substitute a pancake of choice - which there are like, 8 or 10 to choose from), eggs anyway you want it and a breakfast meat of your choice. I had the waffle, scrambled eggs and bacon. It was amazing. Everything tasted super fresh, it was very hot when it was brought out and the meal was perfect. The waffle IS served with a berry compote that I wasn't crazy about so I just had it plain with butter and syrup. Still, it was one of the best waffles I've ever had. I've also sampled the Cheddar and Bacon pancake. It, too, was amazing. And these aren't the small pancakes you make in your skillet at home. These are HUGE. You can order 1, 2 or 3 pancakes for the price shown on the menu - just understand each pancake is as big as a dinner plate! The coffee is great too. I'm not really a "coffee guy". I could count on one hand the number of cups of coffee I have had in the last year. I had something like 4 or 5 cups of coffee this weekend alone. The coffee is good by itself and it is kicked up a notch with the available flavored creamer (Vanilla and Hazelnut are right on the table). If you order Coffee - they bring out a huge pot of it just for you and your table. They also bring out pitchers of water as well which is nice. I like being able to pour my own drinks instead of waiting on the server to come around and fill up my drink. Speaking of the servers - they were all super friendly, great conversationalists and very attentive. In fact, they went out of their way to try and save us money. One server said that she could put what they ordered into one of their 'named' meals and switch out a couple things which would save us money. However, with this place - money wasn't really an issue. Listen to this: With the trifecta (waffle, eggs and bacon), a glass of orange juice and some coffee - I was out there for about 11 bucks. You pay about the same at IHOP and the food isn't as fresh, the restaurants aren't as clean and the servers aren't as attentive. Why go anywhere else? First Watch is my first place to go for a wonderful Saturday breakfast or Sunday brunch. read more

As a native of Columbus I am no newbie to First Watch and all it's glory. Let me just tell you... when I found out that they were opening one up (and more to come) here in Middle Tennessee you would have thought I'd just been proposed to! Yeah, I was THAT excited! The two establishments that Nashville was missing up until a few months ago, in relation to my hometown, were Jeni's Icecream (done) and a First Watch (done)! My life in Nashville is now complete! You'd think I would have gone to First Watch on opening day, but it took me some time to make my way there. I met up with a co-worker for breakfast at 7am (opening time) and we sat outside on the lovely patio. I've never seen outdoor seating at any other First Watch! Our waitress was very pleasant for 7am (not sure if she had any coffee yet or not) and she was prompt and thorough with our requests. I just couldn't break myself from getting my usual Fresh Fruit Crepes with yogurt and granola and a muffin on the side. They were everything I'd known them to be in the past and I was quite happy with my decision. The prices are great and there is so much to choose from on the menu. If we hadn't of gabbed so much, we definitely could have been out of there in time to get to work by 8am. Oh well...work can wait! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day people! I'm looking forward to going back and enjoying the atmosphere from the inside too, just to get that perspective. I'll have to try to make it here for lunch during the week too...I've never had lunch at First Watch. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. We came in for Father's Day breakfast as a fun brunch for dad. We were initially really excited- we called in and reserved a spot outside! Once we sat, we sat for almost 20 minutes before anyone came out to get us, and they only came out because the table next to us that had a server made a comment that we had been sitting forever. We ordered, and she brought me coffee and forgot the cream. No big deal I just asked for some, but then she never brought it out and I had to ask someone else for it. Our food took forever to come out, and then it was really good but the mood was spoiled. Pancakes were great, and the skillet was as well. My breakfast sandwich with potatoes was pretty good too. Sadly she never came back to check on us and we had to have someone else bring us the bill. Overall very crap service on what could have been a fun brunch day. read more

I need banana granola pancakes in my life. First Watch has these and they're awesome. First Watch is a brunch only place (they're only open until 2:30PM daily), and they do it very well. If you're looking for a biscuits and gravy southern style brunch this isn't the place. They have a ton of options as far as breakfast items go. You have sweet (pancakes,french toast, waffles) and savory choices(skillets,omelets, etc.) and many menu items that are on the healthier side, which is nice to see. I'm a huge fan of their pancakes. I like how they have fun options like banana granola, carrot cake and bacon & cheddar(yum!). Another plus for me is they actually know how to poach an egg(this turns into a fail at too many places). As far as lunch options I haven't had a chance to taste them yet, but they do have a nice selection of soups and sandwiches. They are slightly on the pricier side, but hey it's Brentwood. The staff is still in learning mode, but everyone is really pleasant. The place isn't super big so I imagine weekends will end up turning into a bit of a wait, but so far that hasn't happened to me yet. Overall it's delicious and a welcome addition for people like me who prefer brunch as more than a weekend only affair. If you're in the area check it out! read more

First Watch - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Brentwood, Tennessee

If you're unfamiliar with First Watch, it's a chain of breakfast-focused (though they do have some lunch sandwiches) restaurants open for what I like to call brunch hours. Their food is a step up in freshness and quality of ingredients when compared to other fast-casual places of a similar nature, excepting perhaps J. Christopher's (a smaller, more local chain) and the Egg and I (another small chain). They certainly blow Waffle House out of the water. Of the locations I've been to, this one is okay. I get my money's worth, and the food has never been slow. The place is usually a bit understaffed, but that's the curse of the modern-day restaurant business in a segment as competitive as this one. In short, I'd say this location of First Watch is 'A-OK'. If you're looking for breakfast in the Brentwood area, it is a viable option, perhaps even optimal, especially if you have a party of two, thanks to the large first-come, first-serve community table near the host stand. If you're going on Sunday, all bets are off -- don't get between Southerners and their after church brunch. read more

I had the eggs be medic with ham and tomato, the ham was like deli mean and left a weird taste to the rest of the dish, and they put way too much ham on it, making it overwhelm everything else. The coffee here is TERRIBLE!!!! We thought it might have just been old, but after asking for a fresh pot it still tasted old and bitter. The carrot cake pancake was good, if a bit too sweet, but it was still good, and the seasoned potatoes were good. Probably won't come back here again, not saying it's horrible, but nothing about it would entice me to come back. read more

First Watch is a place that could easily get a higher rating from me if I were rating the food and food alone. There's a lot of variety, and a lot of fresh tasting, and great plates. Breakfast, Brunch or Lunch, they've definitely got some great food. To say the service leads something to be desired is an understatement, unfortunately. The staff is all very nice and helpful, and I don't put a single person at fault - I think the organization must be lacking. The food takes longer than you'd expect, the wait staff seems to be dealing with too many tables at once, so you end up going unnoticed, drinks sometimes never arrive until your food does. It makes it even harder when there's been a mistake in your order and you can't find a waiter at all. We've tried and tried, then waited a number of months and tried again. Same problems. Normally I'd say that the food is worth the wait, and the issues are easy to look past once you get your food - but unfortunately they're not. Things end up taking so long and can be so frustrating at times that all you remember is the bad - so much so that whenever we're discussing brunch, First Watch is always crossed off the list purely due to the service. On top of that, the coffee is pretty bland and stale. If you do go, I'd recommend the carrot cake pancakes. They're great... if you don't mind the wait. read more

One of the worst dining experiences in my life. I had to get up about seven times to get something I need including the dijonnaise that was suppose to come with the sandwich. Burger itself was marginal compared to others I've had at other establishments at less cost. My friend kept having to ask for her tea to be refilled as well as more sweet-n-low as well as another straw which was not replaced when the tea was refilled. My sandwich, the veggies burger, had a bun drenched in butter. Aside from myself and my friend, there was only one other group there. "Server" was busy cleaning vs serving us. I could list at least eight other things that were far below subpar. I will never go back! read more

I'm not around much during the average weekday since I travel for work. Today I was waiting for my vehicle to be serviced and need a place to camp...enter First Watch. Yum! The Quinoa Bowl has a little "back by popular demand" notation next to it on the menu...I can't believe they would have ever discontinued it...so so so good. Service was friendly...they didn't mind me camping out even though they were busy. I overheard my server being really helpful to other tables. I wish I had the recipe for the lemon basil/white balsamic dressing on my lunch. I don't even care if it has a zillion calories..that good! Can't promise I'll try anything else on my next visit, but I will try. read more

I love First Watch! The food is really, really good and the service is quick. My only complaint is that the places are always crazy busy which creates a huge group of people waiting to be seated, and a huge line of people paying their checks. The entrance and exit is constantly blocked. Having the wait-staff take the check would help with a lot of that mess! read more

Visited on saturday with the wife for brunch. First the good. The place is very bright and inviting. The service was quick to greet us and our food was super fast and delicious. The Food My wife had the fresh fruit crepes. They came with a chocolate muffin, 2 crepes, and a little side of homemade granola. I stole her muffin which was awesome and had some of the granola too which also was awesome. I prefer a warm crepe so the fresh fruit isn't for me but she seemed to like them. I had the san diego chicken sandwich. The sandwich itself was good but the chicken breast was soooo TINY. It was delicous though was there was. The Not so Good. As mentioned earlier the chicken on my sandwich was extremely small and that's not good for a CHICKEN sandwich. Our server was really nice and friendly but i think she was pretty new. She wasn't totally sure about the sides for a sandwich and my glass was empty a couple of times until another server asked if i needed a refill. OVERALL i will definitely go back. My family and I were in town for a wedding and, not knowing the area at all, decided to smartphone search for brunch places, and found that First Watch was one of the few places near our hotel that was actually open on a Sunday - so that's the first plus. We were seated within the 5-10 minute window estimated by the hostess, who also kindly moved us to a booth to accommodate our kids' needs. We were also promptly greeted and served drinks by our server. She took our order in an appropriate amount of time and no mistakes were made in their preparation. She was also helpful in accommodating our special requests, but was a little slow in bringing coffee refills and the honey packets we asked for; she also forgot to put our bill onto 2 checks as we requested (hence the 4 stars instead of 5). The food was delicious and serving sizes were very generous, so don't let your eyes be bigger than your stomach! We would (and will) recommend to others and would (and will) go back on our next visit. Enjoy! read more

This place was a letdown. Here's my scorecard. FIRST IMPRESSIONS: - Walking in, first impression: it's not spotless. Most tables needed to be wiped down. - I was seated promptly, thank you. - Our server was enthusiastic. FOOD: - My omelet was okay but not great (I had the Via Veneto). The sausage was almost non-existent. And it was warm but not hot. - My potatoes were cold in spots. - My English muffin was way under-toasted, so it was limp and rubbery. And cold. So my food was kind of poor. I've had better breakfasts at cheap hotels, any Waffle House, and perhaps a few Denny's (this is not a compliment). Not too shabby, First Watch!! Located in a suburb of Nashville, First Watch provided us with a delicious breakfast that tided us over until a party later on that night. The service was fast and friendly. My daughter devoured her french toast, and the same went for my son and his pancakes. My husband got some eggs/bacon, etc combo, and he seemed to enjoy it. The potatoes were really good! However, I really didn't care a whole lot for my veggie omelet. My personal preference is to have the ingredients mixed IN the omelet, not have the eggs"wrapped around" my veggies like a taco. I felt like I was eating either eggs OR veggies, so I wish they would have melded together more. It was $35 w/ tip for the four of us. First Watch is like pulling the full service restaurant out of a business level hotel (think Courtyard) and putting it in a strip mall. You can't help but feel that the place was conceived of and designed in a very corporate marketing department's conference room. Everything is sterile and packaged straight from the corporate office. The decor is sparse and the greenery is plastic. I can't help but think of diet programs when I look at the logo, but that's really not the point of First Watch. But aside from the lack of personality, the food was good. The menu has a healthy "feeling" but I'm not so sure that it really is healthy. I had a beefeater sandwich, roast beef, served on grilled Parmesan encrusted sourdough bread with a side of mild horseradish sauce and tomato basil soup. Overall good flavors.The soup was good too. It felt like it was probably made offsite, but other reviewers seem to indicate that they do make their food with fresh ingredients each day. Overall it seems like a dressed up, healthier, cleaner, more consistent version of IHOP. That's not a bad thing. I like IHOP - except that it is dirty, lacking in anything remotely healthy, and terribly inconsistent from one location to the next. So in that sense, First Watch succeeds in being the answer for someone who wants pancakes for lunch without the layer of filth at the other breakfast all day places. I should also mention that the price for what you get was very reasonable. And for the record, Courtyard's Bistro's are good too. They are consistent and predictable, which I suppose is a plus, unless you like a surprise standout dish even if it mean and occasional disappointment. read more

Pretty average breakfast place. I had the Floridian Style French Toast and was not very impressed. It came with two pieces of dry French toast, topped with a copious amount of not-so-fresh fruit. The only reason I didn't give First Watch 1 or 2 stars is because of the excellent service we had. Our waitress was as pleasant as can be. We were very impressed with her attentiveness, patience, and overall attitude. Wouldn't ever come back for the good, but I still somewhat enjoyed our experience at First Watch. read more

The crepeggs were a nice surprise--really delicious! They are served in two different combinations...I had the key west crepe. Turkey, avocado, bacon, tomatoes, and Monterey Jack cheese....i highly recommend! My husband really likes the muesli and the cranberry nut pancakes--all the choices looked pretty great though. For lunch my son is crazy about the beefeater. The roast beef they use is fresh and very high quality. The Parmesan crusted bread is a nice twist! down sides are $1.50 extra for real maple syrup and the service is typical of a newly opened restaurant...pretty slow but the food comes out hot and looking beautiful. read more

If you place on online order at 10:30 and they say 'ready for pick up at 11:15'- and you get there at 11:10 (in case it a little early) and then 11:20 rolls by and you are still waiting, and waiting and still more waiting to wait, and they go check on your order a few times, because you ask about it, and tell you 'just a few more mins' but then at 11:55, they tell you they'll just refund your order (which takes 3-5 days) because they can't find it, don't be surprised. And certainly don't be surprised if they don't offer any kind of 'sorry, we don't know what happened' or 'maybe we can get this order redone and rushed if you don't mind waiting a few more mins.' Nope.... just wait for your order which was placed at 10:30 and be told 'we'll refund your money in 5 days' and send you on your way. We own & run several restaurants and the way this situation was handled is completely ridiculous- *** and it's not about being short staffed, it's about being honest and trying to make a bad situation right. read more

My family and I went here for brunch on Sunday. Y'all, I'm not kidding when I say these pancakes are amazing! If you are even somewhat a fan of banana, get the banana crunch pancake! One is all you need, and for a little over $3, it is well worth it. They are huge, taking up the plate. They also have fancy creamer, meaning name brand French vanilla and hazelnut. The atmosphere is bright and happy making me believe I'm on a Florida vacation. My kid brother loved his eggs and bacon, with good reviews from my mom and stepdad as well. It's great. After several attempts, we finally made it out to First Watch for the first meal of 2012. It didn't disappoint. After a long night, I was pretty hungry so I ended up ordering quite a bit of food. I had the Florentine Eggs Benedict and also The Monterey Club w/ a bowl of Tomato Basil soup. My friend had the Cheese to the 5th Degree sandwich with ham. The Florentine Benedict was great. Cooked perfectly with fresh spinach and avocado. The Hollandaise was excellent... just the right mix of flavors. It came with breakfast potatoes and a small fruit cup. The potatoes were some of the best I can remember having; I'm not usually a fan of them anywhere. The Monterey Club was solid and the Tomato Basil soup was very good. I had a bite of my friend's grilled, 5-cheese sandwich and it was pretty good. You could add ham for only like 60 cents more and it almost dominated the sandwich. It was basically a Croque-Monsieur, if you're familiar with French food. Service was a little slow initially. It took a good 5-10 minutes for the server to even get to the table. Had it been a little quicker, I would not hesitate to give this place 5 stars. Their hours don't exactly mesh with my schedule, thus the delay in trying it out. After my food experience here, I'll definitely make the time moving forward. read more

Wouldn't even give 1-star. Horribly disappointed with the food and service at this First Watch location. We eat at another location almost once a week and have never had this type of experience. Our Food took 40 minutes to serve, my kids eggs were cold, avocado was left off Monterrey Club, my husbands salad was served 10 minutes after the rest of the food. Utensils were dirty and cups had water spots on them. Server was less than concerned and we couldn't even find her the majority of time. Upon checkout I told cashier about our experience and no offer was made to compensate or make amends. Will never go back to this First Watch location. read more

The food is great, the banana pancakes are the best, but don't stray from the listed menu items because they just can't handle any changes to the menu. I eat there at least once a week (after lunch rush), because it is within walking distance from my office. The ham and gruyere melt is amazing on "WHOLE GRAIN" bread, but that's a change from the menu, so they've actually gotten my order right exactly once. I've called, I've emailed, so maybe if I actually put this out so the whole world can read it, they will train their kitchen staff to actually read the orders when they come in. It just doesn't seem like asking for a different kind of bread should be such a big deal. read more

First Watch rocks it out. I'd never been, but i'd heard good things from friends. I had downloaded an iPhone app a while back called "NoWait" and noticed that First Watch is one of the few local businesses on it. Basically the app allows you to get into line before you arrive at the restaurant. When I got in line the wait was 41 minutes. When we got there, our table was ready. There were plenty of other people waiting, so I recommend it. As for the food, its very good. I had the Tri-Fecta which is Eggs, Bacon, and a Waffle, Pancake or French toast. it may not have the "Old Country" feel of Cracker Barrel, or the "Popularity" of Pancake Pantry, but considering the derth of Breakfast places in Nashville, I highly recommend First Watch. read more

Unbelievably bad service. there was a short wait, so my friend and I checked out the menu and ordered as soon as we sat down. The server then left and didnt come back for 45 minutes. The restaurant wasn't crowded but she disappeared and never checked on us after that first interaction. Finally, when she did come back, she tells us it will be another 10-15 minutes to get the food, which would have made it an hour from ordering. No apologies offered. Great new breakfast place in Brentwood! We went there this Sunday at 11:30 - 20 minute wait made tolerable by free help-yourself coffee (which was quite good BTW). After being seated we immediately received a pot of coffee for the table. Lots of healthy choices on the menu. Choice of eggs include regular fresh, cholesterol free, and egg whites only - no extra charge for any choice. Food came quickly and was well prepared with very fresh ingredients. Omelets were delish, very nice selection with some unique combinations. Pancakes were good too - we tried banana/granola, carrot cake and choc chip. Carrot cake pancakes were the best! Server was efficient and attentive without being too in-your-face. Decor was pleasant, roomy booth for our family of 6. Highly recommend for breakfast! (Didn't try any lunch items this visit). Meh! First Watch is a chain. I used to like going there in Ohio. Somehow here it feels like an afterthought. Everything was average - the food, the coffee, the ambiance, especially the food. It feels like another result from a cookie cutter mold - the drab colors, the symmetric furniture, the cheap prints that pass off as paintings, etc. The food was edible, but not delectable. If you're looking for it, it's in the Harris Teeter area next to PetCo. Odd name for a restaurant but apparently it's very popular as it's a chain in other states. If you're craving breakfast or brunch, then I'd highly recommend it. Something I wish I had known before my first occasion here was that it's certainly an upscale eatery, and you'll have to deal with uptight and pretentious "Brentwooders" before being able to enjoy your breakfast. Wear your Sunday best too, for fear of getting pitiful service otherwise due to your servers stereotyping. Anyhow, had I known all this I may have enjoyed by breakfast better... Despite this intro, the fruit was fresh and delicious, coffee was excellent, the muffin was incredible, and breakfast had large portions. About $15 per person it was certainly expensive for our intentions, however I could justify the price if returning for a nice brunch on the weekend. However, I do recall they don't serve bloodys or mimosas so definitely a strike against them for that. I don't know if they take reservations or not, but be prepared to wait. In the end, with a little mental preparation and ensuring I visit on a non-hangover morning, I think I would return in the future under the right circumstances. read more

Review update: So, after our last review we were contact by customer service with an apology, which was a nice surprise. We gave brunch another try, though this time we went on a week day. Not nearly as busy, but still pretty full. We were seated right away and our server was with us promptly. Coffee took a minute but I wouldn't be surprised if they were flying through it. Our order was brought out relatively quickly, was correct in every aspect and delicious. We were waiting to check out, standing slightly away from the podium to not block the customers coming in and another customer had the nerve to try and push in before us to check out. The cashier handled it professionally and politely informed her there was a line then checked us out over the other woman's huffing. Seeing as how both visits involved pushy entitled customers I'm thinking it's just the norm for that area so I appreciate when the staff moves to correct such behaviour, though it makes me feel bad that they have to deal with it. Over all I would visit again, but probably only on the slower weekdays when I get a chance rather than risk that Sunday crowd with what seems to be uppity people. read more

Really good food. Careful, the pancakes are about a foot in diameter. Very fresh, tasty food, you can't go wrong.
