My experience here was horrible, and it was because of the music that they were BLASTING. I came in with my brother and our two friends on the Sunday after Christmas. It was around 9pm, and it looked like a ghost town inside the restaurant. We walked inside and heard the music. It was played out, terrible Pop/Country. It was so loud, I thought we were being Punk'd by the staff. My little brother and his friend spent $33(!!!) on 2 burgers, 2 fries and 2 shakes, which seems super steep to me, especially when all their add ins are "FREE!". I had to ask the difference between a small burger and a regular burger, and the person behind the counter patiently and nicely explained that it's a single or a double patty. Why not just call it what it is?!? I hate it when burger places have gimmicky menus. Anyway, I opted for a "small burger" which was under $5 for everything. The patty was good, but the burger itself was nothing special. Same with the fries... Meh. But, back to the music. It had cleared out all of the other customers that came in after us. When the second terrible Christmas song came blaring on the speaker in between the stupid pop/country (remember... This was 2 days after Christmas), I asked my little brother if he would mind leaving and eating the food at his place down the street. The music was so loud, I couldn't get used to it even though I was trying! He said "Five Guys doesn't really taste good if you get it to go." Ugh! That's a red flag, too. Let me settle the five guys vs in and out debate once and for all- they are DIFFERENT. And there are as many reasons to like one as there are the other but for DIFFERENT reasons. If in n out is your ideal preparation and flavor profile, chances are five guys won't measure up and vice versa. Let me say first off that I am a fan of both Zinburger and White Castle-two extremes of style, price, ambiance (and certainly availability-I don't eat frozen sliders). I also don't "get" the frenzy about In And Out. Aside from the freshness of ingredients and fast service, what is the deal? So, I finally got in to try this place just a while ago and my overall impression is "starchy" and "noisy." Let's go: The "regular" cheeseburger was too big for me to finish and I had no inclination to push myself to do so. The "cheese" tasted of nothing and looked a bit disgusting. Although a sign says" our burgers are cooked juicy and well done" this is not a choice-they are all cooked well done and there was not a drop of "juice" in my burger, not a drop. Nor were they seasoned-the combo of dry, unseasoned meat and "cheese" (I imagine it's manufactured cheese) just doesn't make this even an acceptable burger no matter how many sides you put on it. And, the buns are likewise featureless, not tasty, just bulky. I would describe the burger as "interesting". The fries, on the other hand, were really cut well-no standardization here as if cut in your own kitchen. They were not peeled and were really fun to eat b/o those two features. Lovely crispy bits, crispy whole fries as well as less well done fries and bits- I really liked them a lot, STILL they felt a little "gummy" in my mouth-can't figure out why-and that lent to the overall impression of starchiness. I would not complain about the greasy paper bag they come in, that's fine with me. Noisy! Not even overly busy-no lines to order-the sound in there is really hard for me to handle. Along with the conversation, one gets tile walls as well as unnecessary music so the acoustics really contribute a lot to the noise level. The person who took my order told me she sometimes can barely hear what the customer is ordering. I may go back sometime to see if I can get a "juicy and well done" burger but I think that's not possible. Not running back in any case, and not recommending to friends. read more

After seeing this place packed with lines out the door for the past few months I was excited to check it out. the menu is simple and the topping options are pretty extensive. I chose to try out the cheese burger "all the way" with" five guys fries. First of all the price is ridiculous. for a burger and fries (no drink) the bill came out to over $11. The burger is good size. I am guessing it to be about a half pound. The all the way toppings consisted of sauteed onions, mushrooms (canned by the way), tomato, lettuce, mayo, mustard, ketchup and pickles. The mushrooms were not very good but the onions were cooked nicely. the bun was a bit small for the burger and lacked the density to hold the burger together. It was nothing extraordinary when compared to other $6 burgers around town. The preparation was very sloppy and when I unwrapped my burger it was about 1/2 off the bun and the toppings were very slap dash. I do give them bonus points for using real cheese. The fries looked like they were going to be awesome. They appear to be fresh cut russets with the skin left on. They were a bit limp and very greasy.They has little to no salt. I think they could have been excellent if they were fried a bit longer at a higher temp. For me, I prefer sonic any day. At $11 bucks I would much rather sit down at Zinburger. Their price is far too high for what you get and their fries made me sick from the excess of oil. read more

The other night not only did I get a good burger and fries from Five Guys but also received the best customer service that I have in a long time. I walked in five minutes before closing and there was only one other customer on their way out. Normally when I walk in to a place five minutes before closing they make me feel like I more of a pest to them then a paying customer and I did feel that way at Five Guys. They were very polite and very friendly. The staff seem like they were in a very good mood. They started a conversation with me and offered me a glass of water while I was waiting for my order. Every person that I interacted with that night was very nice and friendly. I will be going back to Five Guys not only because of the food but because of the outstanding customer service that I received that night. read more

I think this is my favorite location, the burgers are always put together so well, not just thrown together like another location I've been to, they make everything exactly how you want it and I've never had a wrong order. Love it. The shakes are one of the main reasons I go there (I know, it should be for their amIng burgers), they just always taste so FRESH, I get banana and chocolate and you can actually taste banana pieces! Love their customer service as well, they make sure you have everything you need and seem like they're happy to be there. Great job guys! read more

I've tried five guys a few times now and can't say anything bad about them. The endless choice of toppings makes for some very creative burgers and there isn't an additional fee to add them. The burgers can be a bit on the greasy side, but if your looking for a fast food burger I doubt grease is a primary concern. read more

It's just alright. I'd rate In-N-Out better. Monkey Burger is definitely better. The burgers are big (two pattys on a regular burger) and they are nicely juicy with crispy edges. The downsides are that the buns have the consistency of Wonder Bread. And the fries could have been crispier. read more

This has become our new favorite fast food burger joint. The buns and fresh selection of toppings make the burgers. The regular fries are perfect for sharing as they are quite large, and the small burger will be plenty for the average diner. Two friends and I went to the Five Guys Burgers and Fries that just opened on Oracle and Wetmore. I liked the atmosphere. I also liked how you could customise you burger to pretty much have anything you want. The burgers were good but not the best I have ever had. The fries good, but not award winning like they claim. Way overpriced for what you get. For three people getting burgers, one order of fries for all three of us, drinks, and one hotdog our bill was $46 dollars. I would have rather driven one more block and gone to In-N-Out and saved $20 bucks for burgers that are just as good. Im not sure what the purpose of free peanuts is. Maybe so you will feel more full after eating thier small portions. They were very overstaffed maybe that's why its so expensive. Seriously there was a person just squirting ketchup. read more

This is right around the corner from where I live and does wonderful take out, actually I recommend that over eating in the place since it becomes a mad house when plagued by students from the U of A. I am an impartial transplanted taster from far,far away and 5 Guys wins hands down, no contest. And here is why. I thought, "Wow, she's right, that's really cool," but now as I write I'm thinking..."Hey, wait a minute...." 5 Guys Burgers, of the Cheesemania O'Bacon Toppings-are-plentiful genus, make no apologies for the telltale smear of hot oil emanating through the sidewalls of your paper bag as you heft it from counter and head for your own personal food comma, burger. They called my number which was 238 in case any of you are wondering. As I headed for my own personal food comma with our bag filled with fries and Cheeseburgers, I had done some advanced personal developmental work in preparation. I'd gotten rid of any possible guilt and am in a Buddha-like trance of acceptance of what is about to happen. We are all here to eat a delicious greasy cheeseburger with some fries and nothing else. No guilt, no apologies, and no calorie counting. They don't even sell salad here. It's go cheeseburger time. As a side note, their fries are cut on-site from fresh potatoes, skins on, and then dipped in questionably hot oil. Not my favorite, even when the oil is at perfect temp. Not anywhere under any circumstances are limp fries a good thing. Please for the love of all things sacred about potatoes, and there are many, 5 Guys, stop with the limp greasy fries. Please go frozen crinkle cut. On a scale of 1-10, your burger is a 20; your fries are a 2. But still, I can't get you burger off my mind...mmmmm cheeseburger. What is there to say? Juicy burgers piled with toppings I really enjoy. The fries I am just not a fan of. They are so soggy I die inside a little. I judge a place by how well they can make their potatoes and this place falls short. Well I sure did get my money's worth I can tell you that (we'll get to that in a minute). This is a burger joint up and up. Simple menu ranging from burgers to dogs that are pretty tasty. With your burger or dog you get all your toppings free (Mayo, Relish, Onions, Lettuce, Pickles, Tomatoes, Grilled Onions, Grilled Mushrooms, Ketchup, Mustard, Jalapeno Peppers, Green Peppers, A1 Steak Sauce, Bar-B-Q Sauce, and Hot Sauce). But that's not what I was referencing earlier. With my burger I ordered some fries. I watched them finish my burger order and place it in a bag. Then a young lady went to the fry bin to fill a carton full of fries and placed it in a different brown bag. Then she returns to the fry bin, takes a 4 x 6 silver pan that was at least 3-inches deep and fill it more fries and then pours that on top of my fry order in the second bag. I thought my order would be coming but she stood their talking to a co-worker. After about 3-4 minutes of waiting I was about to blow a gasket when she went to the deep fryer, removed fresh fries, seasoned them, grabbed the silver pan again, refilled it, dumped it into my bag, closed it and handed my order to me. Holy cow, a single order was half a bag full of fries. I hope this wasn't a fluke because those fries were pretty damn good. I have to admit I had to raise the white flag and give up eating them on my 45 minute ride home as there were sooooo many. All in all a solid burger establishment. read more

This place is really close to my house so naturally I have eaten here quite a few times. The burgers are great, the selection for sodas, and even the free peanuts, but I cannot stand the fries here. I have never been a fan of their fries and I do not like how they just dump them in a cup and all inside your bag. The fries always taste nuked, like they were microwaved. Plus this place is expensive. 20$ for two people is not fast food price, which this place is. Overall, it's not like I won't return, but I prefer Whataburger ten times over this place. read more

I go to the Campbell location pretty regularly for lunch because I work right across the street. The staff is always really friendly, the music they play is awesome and the atmosphere is clean and bright. Their burgers are so good! I get the same thing pretty much every time I go (bacon cheeseburger with jalapeños and mayo) but even when I decide to mix it up and get something different, I'm never disappointed. I was deeply disappointed in 5 Guys. I went in with high expectations based on the lines I saw when driving by. I understand in today's market the need to insure burgers are fully cooked however, the burger was dry and tasteless with apparently no seasoning on it. I ordered my cheeseburger all the way which means loaded with goodies but the only thing I could taste was the dill pickles. VERY DISAPPOINTING. The fries were adequate but nothing special. My experience at 5 guys was that the appearance was similar to In-N-Out with all the red and white colors. The burger was the kind that you would make at home for yourself for a lot less dinero. Basically a homemade style burger for a lot more $$$. I can replicate this burger at home with relative ease but, In-N-Out on the other hand just can't be duplicated. Sure they have a ton of topping options for extra $ but a good burger doesn't need to hide under a bunch of crap! Bottom line is if you want homemade style but don't have the time and don't mind paying someone else to grill it for you, then 5 guys is probably for you. While I was at next door at Panda Express my husband was at 5 Guys eating peanuts while he waited for his cheeseburger and fries. He said the peanuts were stale. The fries were undercooked and the hamburger patty was too dry. A real disappointment. Come to Liberty Station in San Diego and try the 5 Guys there - it's very good - the peanuts are fresh and the beef is big and juicy! read more

Lets start with they forgot an order of fries on the order and told us we have to save the receipt and come back within a week to get them. I went back that night. Since I wasn't too far yet. Second off, as you can tell it was to go. The burgers were soggy and falling apart. Only took 12 minutes to get home. The fries were cold and soggy. Sure they give you a bag full, they did not skimp on them, but if i get a bag of crap the less crap I have to carry and throw away the better. With all the hype on this joint maybe I expected too much! They seem to think that the **** don't stink and that they are all that. They don't even try to make the customer happy when they screw up. I wasn't overly impressed with In and Out but Nothing was soggy and everything was fresh and hot. Sorry but came from the east coast and the west coast wins this one! read more

Great staff! Its not very different from any other Five Guys joint, but I am excited they opened a place in Tucson. I absolutely love their cheese veggie sandwich. Nothing fancy, its same old ingredients, but packaged perfectly in a bun. Top it off with the cajun fries! Enjoy the toasted peanuts while you wait. My favorite part about this place is that they put the fries in a cup and they are big! Now the burgers are big as well, perhaps too big.
