well it's pricey but I think it has better quality ingredients than most joints. I got the half and half Angus beef, chicken teriyaki bowl with veggies and brown rice with avocado. the 'angus beef' are beef 'bits'. it looks like what's left after the butcher is done. I don't know why they buy it like that & I've never seen it at the store or anywhere else like that. I'm not a cook but you can make it at home for half the price easily. The other annoying thing was right on the payment screen it comes up for a tip, and this is counter pick up. it's not like they're delivering it to your table or anything you go up to the register, place your order and then they call your number or your name or whatever and you come to the counter & pick it up. I don't know why they're asking for a tip, just have the tip jar like everybody else. it was weird. read more

I really want to give a higher rating, because I LOVE flame broiler. It's easy, healthy and tasty...but this location is a tough cookie to crack. One day the portions seem equivalent to other locations, other days I feel like I paid for half of a bowl...it's frustrating. My coworker and I have given this location multiple "second" chances, but after this evenings bowl experience, I'll be driving the extra little distance to the Lakewood blvd location near the 5...they know the importance of consistently making their bowls with the same quantity of meat, veggies and rice. read more

Just moved to the area and was looking for a bite to eat and decided to check it out. I've heard a lot of good things about this place but was pretty confused as to how it all worked. Luckily the cashier (I believe her name was Lillian) was very helpful and patient with me and explained everything in detail. I was VERY satisfied with the service and the food was DELICIOUS. Yesenia has horrible customer service skills, instead of deescalating and resolving my problem she escalated it. She has to be the worst cashier I ever had to deal with. I go to this location often, at least twice a month and every single time Yesenia always given me bad customer service. I ignore her because we evolve every day and everybody needs a chance but this cut the cake. She is very passive-aggressive but on this day it was horrible. She decides she going to bully me into paying for a free drink because she said so. lol, She told me I didn't qualify for the free drink because I needed to come with a friend, by the way, she never asked where was my friend. The day before I was there with my friend which she kicks us out from sitting at the table & chairs outside 10 minutes before they closed because she needed to put the tables & chairs up. I pay for my food, I put in my number for the awards select the free drink. Yesenia gives me my receipt told me to go stand outside because there is too many people inside, we must practice social distancing so once someone leaves then I can come back in. I asked for my cup she ignored me lol walked to the back. I'm standing there thinking no that didn't just happen. Therefore I help myself grab a cup then I fill it up. Yesenia didn't say anything until my number is called 10 inured later she proceeds to tell me I must pay for the free drink. Keep in mind I redeemed my award. It was too hot and I was hungry I didn't want to argue I said ok. I left everything in the car All I had was my receipt. Yesenia told me to go to the car to get the money so I can pay for the free drink then she will give me the food I had paid for. I told her NO ask her for the food I paid for, she was holding my food hostage sitting on top of her register so I said this is the worst customer service I've ever experience just give me a refund for my food so she decided she wanted to be petty and refuse to give me a refund. She call the manager and security on me. I never raise my voice or use foul language I wasn't even passive-aggressive. Yesenia told the manager and the security guard that I stole the cup but she forgot to tell them that I had a reward for a free drink that she refuses to give me after I redeemed it because I needed a friend. It's amazing how this young lady went out of her way to be so rude people are so quick to be rude nowadays no one is understanding or have empathy these days. Super happy with my order. Had this location cater my party of 40 guest they all loved the food. Great customer service food was delivered in thermo bags (to be kept warm) food tasted great and was nice and and warm. Will definitely consider catering from them again in the future. read more

Stopped by after my workout and needless to say this place needs a lot of help. First of all the gentlemen working the registered needs to work on his customer service, he wasn't polite at all, didn't greet me as I walked in the door as expected. When the register guy brought the food out to give to me he (I'm not exaggerating) threw the two bowls on the table, the bowls slid to the middle table with no napkins and he didn't even say anything he just walked away. The worst thing about my experience here was the chicken wasn't cooked properly. It was cold and I didn't want to make it a big issue for the fear they would somehow mess with my food, yeah, that's the type of vibe I got. If it wasn't for my friend who is more or less a chef who inspected the chicken to make sure it was edible I wouldn't have eaten as much as I did which was mostly rice. A solid four stars. Ok the flame broiler isn't your gourmet or authentic Hawaiian cuisine but it always always hits the spot. Whenever I am craving teriyaki chicken or beef, I always think of the flame broiler to satisfy my deepest craving. It is also a lot healthier than all the other places that surround the joint. Here is the deal; the place is a quick service joint that serves you up a nice amount of food for a good price. I sometimes feel that the employees are x convicts but who am I to judge. They are always quite friendly :). I always order the half chicken half beef plate with all veggies. With a side of avocado!! Wow the portion is huge. I then get a few extra cups of their magic teriyaki sauce and a few cups of their hot sauce. I love the fact that it's self Serve so you can squirt as much as you want without getting yelled at. Hehe. I always like to eat there because I don't like sharing with my roommates... I'm kidding well kinda kidding. The place isn't glamorous and feels a little sterile but they keep it clean. Beyond Disappointed with this Flame Broiler here in Downey at Apollo Way. My Husband and myslef have been eating at Flame Broiler for years now, The manager and cooks are very disrespectful and don't know anything about customer service. We eat at flame broiler a lot, so when a coupon gets mailed to us we take advantage and use it. As soon as I give my order and show the coupon to the manager, he automatically changes his attitude, I walk away and I see him and the cooks talking about me and my family. When my food was ready I went up to get it and the cook looks at me and starts laughing. I attached a picture of what they served me. I hate to be the one to complain, but when I saw my bowls I had to post a review. They served me a half bowl with scraps of meat and a little bit of rice. I asked nicely if they can fix my husband and my bowl and the manager said NO, I explained I come here all the time and I have never gotten a bowl like this, his response is this how EVERY FLAME BROILER serves their bowls, you used a coupon, that is what you get.I couldn't believe him. read more

I go to this flame broiler a lot and they somehow manage to mess up my order half of those times. They never put rice in my bowl even when I tell them multiple times I want rice, or they put the wrong rice. I go here on my lunch a lot and its disappointing to see that I have NO rice in my bowl, but by the time I realize it I'm back at work with 10 minutes left of my lunch. Purchased a mini chicken bowl with white meat, very long wait and appeared to be understaffed. While I was waiting I was observing what was going on in the kitchen and the lady who was grilling the meats and tofu was using her bare hands to grab handfuls of green onion and avocado to top the bowls with - just as I was approaching the counter to ask for my money back after waiting so long and viewing the unsanitary food handling of food it was my order that was up. After scraping off the green onion, the bowl was only 1/2 full and the chicken was extremely tough and dry. I will not be back to this location. A course in sanitary food handling obviously is in need. read more
