I've been following Johnny on YouTube since I was growing up, so when I saw Flavor Belly on TikTok, I knew I had to make a pit stop during my weekend trip in SoCal. Let me just say: it completely exceeded the hype! "Seattle Style" Skin-On Chicken: Incredible. The meat was tender and juicy, and that skin was perfectly flavorful and crispy. Beef Belly: If you love KBBQ beef belly, you have to get this. It tasted exactly like it and it was delicious! Garlic Rice: Never had any garlic rice like this one. Amazing textures and flavors. THE SAUCES: Every sauce elevated everything to the next level. My personal favorites were the Asian Chimichurri, Garlic Aioli, and Hot Habanero. A huge thank you to Johnny for making my first experience here so memorable! His service was spectacular, and it was very cool getting to talk to him in person after all these years of watching his content. Hope we get a Flavor Belly in the Bay Area someday!

We came to haven city market place for this spot. My husband had tried the garlic rice with a friend who had ordered take out and he had been thinking of it ever since The Belly family platter was 10/10. So flavorful and the sauces were all delicious with their own unique flavor! The mac salad was fire. The beef belly reminds me of brisket. Brisket is my favorite. Is beef belly the same thing as brisket? Lol Everything was amazing! Will definitely be returning. Staff was very friendly as well

Best teriyaki spot I've had. Good portion sizes, sauces are delicious and the owner is super nice!

First time trying this place and it was BOMB. Not sure what kind of cultural food it is but it's definitely an Asian fusion. Gives me Hawaiian vibes! Each combo plate comes with rice and salad and mac salad. Honestly, I advise to always upgrade to garlic rice. It's an extra $2 but it's so worth it. The garlic rice is SOOO GOOD. Very garlicky without being bitter or spicy. Won't regret it! Tried their skin on Seattle chicken and beef belly. Both was delicious and savory. I would have preferred a different dressing for the salad. It wasn't that good and had a weird sweetness to it. Can I suggest sesame dressing? Hint hint! Mac salad was just okay. Pros: -delicious protein -delicious garlic rice -careful takeout packaging -free parking in shared plaza lot Cons: -could use a better salad dressing

SAUCES. For context I drove like 45 minutes out to haven city because I was expecting taste of the pacific to be at this exact spot. Turns out they are longer open and Flavor belly has replaced them. I wanted to be angry at Flavor belly but it was good. The teriyaki plate with garlic rice was filling and the chicken was tender. Wasn't too charred and had decent moisture. Wished the garlic rice had more garlic flavor since it costs extra but maybe I just couldn't feel it in the moment. I eventually did burp up garlic all day. What makes the place is the sauces you get to try. I got the garlic sauce and the green sauce and lathered my meat. What I did not like was the side of shrimp!!! $8 for 3 shrimp!!! And the video on the screen makes them look huge! And red !!! I even confirmed before purchasing, I asked, the same shrimp from the tv screen , and they responded with yes. I receive my SHRIMP and it's like 2 inches long, only 3, and they aren't red like in the video. That was a rip. Overall not a bad pick in this food hall.

Located inside Haven City, there's always plenty of seating inside and out. This plaza is always spacious and clean. I came around 11:25 am and they were nice to start taking orders as they weren't open yet :). Service was great and friendly. I tried their Seattle style skin on chicken and it was crispy and garlicky delicious! The chicken was sooo tender and paired perfectly with the garlic rice +$2, salad, and mac salad. The salad was refreshing and mac was nice. The total came out to be around $21 and included complimentary sides of sauces like their garlic aioli (creamy and very garlicky) and chimichurri sauce. Would definitely come back and order the same plate or try their beef belly bowl. Flavor belly is defff flavorful :D

Flavor Belly is another great addition to HCWC. I recently tried the "Seattle" style chicken, which is basically crispy chicken served with mac salad and a side salad. Overall, the plate was delicious; I really like their mac salad, which I think is a good indicator of a quality teriyaki plate. The standout for me was the sauces. They really add that extra oomph. I asked for their recommended sauces and was given the chimichurri and garlic aioli. The chimichurri is definitely something I would order again. Overall, I would definitely return. It does have a higher price tag for me compared to other food stalls at HCWC and similar restaurants.

I wanted to update Flavor Belly to the 5/5 it deserves! We came by to try the Seattle Style "Skin On"Chicken plate today and that thang was fire! Per last review, owner John said to try the Seattle Style. Shout outs to the chef/owner John for the recommendation. The plate delivered at every level. And it's probably, the one I'll go with again. Hopefully in the future my wife and I could say what's up on the next visit. The $20 with the upgrade of the garlic rice is totally worth it. They had just opened so we had no problems finding tables to sit down. The portion comes with two rows of the chicken. A great plate to share or save the rest for later. That crispy skin was next level! The texture and moistness of the chicken is top tier. *chef's kiss*. The chicken was so moist and cooked to perfection. The Mac salad tasted much better too. I love that you can choose multiple sauces. We got the Bellyaki, Verde and Asian Chimichurri this time and enjoyed each one. Can't wait to come back again. Enjoy the updated pics and flicks. Hope it makes others want to try it out. Thanks, Flavor Belly! ( ^_^)b

I've been here twice now with my husband. We decided to share the Seattle Style Skin-On Chicken plate with garlic fried rice. The sauces are given on the side and you can order as many as you want without charge. We got the Bellyaki, Verde, and the Asian Chimichurri sauces. We waited about 10 mins for our food and at the time it wasn't busy. When we got our food it was to our surprise to see two rows of sliced chicken with the *crispiest* skin. I'm craving this right now as I'm typing this out. It was perfectly seasoned. The garlic rice was so flavorful and had the perfect amount of garlic. The sauces complimented the plate so well, you can't go wrong with any of them. The iceberg lettuce and mac salad were delicious as well. This is by far our favorite plate. I've tried their shrimp plate as well, that's also a very good option. You get a lot of food for what you pay for. It's a great option to share with someone or to save half for later. Flavor Belly is located in the West Covina Haven City Market. Their area was clean and the employees were informative and helpful. We are definitely coming back here.

I had a memorable experience at Flavor Belly (West Covina). I ordered the "Seattle Style" Skin-On Chicken ($18.99) with Garlic Rice (additional $2) and free sauces (i.e. Garlic Aioli, Asian Chimichurri). An audible gasp of wonder peeped out when I combined that moist, clean chicken with its bold sauce. It became infinitely better, and I greedily devoured this distinct, memorable feast! (Important: Cash is not accepted. Must use Card or Cashless Payment.) I arrived at Flavor Belly (West Covina) on Tuesday (around 6:55PM). Parking was available this late weekday. The lot is big; however, there's always competition since it uses the extremely popular Haven City Market's lot. Staff is professional, welcoming, and helpful. Staff (receipt says Jade) answered all my questions and worked hard. Jade would work non-stop while always maintaining a cheerful smile. My order took 13 minutes and 27 seconds. Good pace! As mentioned, I enjoyed the "Seattle Style" Skin-On Chicken ($18.99) with Garlic Rice (additional $2). The chicken is moist & clean. Its accompanying macaroni salad is bouncy and bright. Its salad is crisp and fresh. The garlic rice came hot, fluffy, and savory with a prominent, addictive garlic flavor. Individually, each aspect of the meal is very good; however, the magic kicks in when the sauces get involved. I absolutely adored the Garlic Aioli sauce; this sauce is creamy & lightly sweet with a fresh garlic taste. The Asian Chimichurri sauce is zesty & bright with a spicy kick. After dipping the chicken, there's a delightful flavor explosion. "SO GOOD!" Regarding ambiance, it's minimal at Flavor Belly (West Covina). This business is a food stall in the the popular Haven City Market. Fortunately, the stall is attractive with its bright, vibrant colors. Since the location is located within the popular Haven City Market, there's plenty of indoor and outdoor tables. There's also a nearby restroom. Haven City Market also has security guards for safety. There's flat screen tv's that play basketball and football games. There's also customer internet with password; information is posted on the columns. The location is also well-ventilated, very clean, and bustling with many cheerful customers. Overall, Flavor Belly (West Covina) exceeded all expectations. It's a memorable, flavorful experience. I left full and happy. If you love chicken, this is an easy recommendation. 5 out of 5. "GO!!"

My wife, family, and a few friends were in the mood for chicken teriyaki. What better place than my new and favorite place for such a meal? I love this place. The food here is fantastic. The chicken is well-prepared, the rice is good, the salad is fresh and crunchy, and the service is excellent! The entire vibe of this restaurant and the whole food court is fun, relaxed, and inviting. Another positive experience achieved

I heard Haven City Market in West Covina got a few new tenants. Flavor Belly is one of them. I had to come here to check them out. So very glad I did. The hype is REAL! Everything was amazingly delicious! Food was so good, I had to return here the next day to try the other half of their menu LOL. They currently have 4 different plates (see below). Yes, I have tried them all except for the Beef Belly because I don't eat beef anymore. Huge portions of chicken in both chicken plates. Love the chicken tenderness on the inside and lightly crispiness on the outside... MORE "SEATTLE STYLE" PLEASE... SO GOOD!! All plates come with white rice, macaroni salad, and iceberg lettuce in light dressing. For $2 more, you can upgrade to garlic rice. Get the garlic rice! Trust me on this one. They offer sides of specific items. Their sauces are so good... my favorites are Asian Chimichurri and Garlic Aioli! Day 1 - OG Teriyaki Chicken Plate (My 2nd choice!) - "Seattle Style" Skin-On Chicken Plate (Hands down my 1st choice!) - Side Pickled Cucumber Day 2 - Beef Belly Plate - Crispy Shrimp Plate (My 3rd choice, I prefer my shrimp to be grilled) I got to meet the owner, Johnny. He's a really nice guy. He shared how each plate is made. Good info. Overall staff was very welcoming and friendly. Service was amazing. I highly recommend this place 100%. I'll be back for more chicken deliciousness. Thank you Flavor Belly for sharing the WOW WOW and WOW in your plates!! Tip: They normally don't give out paper receipts. If you need one, you'll have to ask for it. Thanks.

Have always wanted to check this out. Weekdays seem to be better for crowds.

The skin on chicken was so good. Skin was still crispy while cooked all the way through. I got the graphic fried rice instead of white rice and it was good! It looked so good that I forgot to take a pic prior to starting to eat. They recommended the aoli and chimmichuri sauce. Both were spot on. The person who took my order was very personable. Once he found out my name, he called me by name until I got my order. I'm very big on that. With the flavor belly being in the haven city food court, had plenty of space.

I really wanted to love Couwami Asian Fusion!…read more The small, family run restaurant cozily braided into a strip mall one block south of the 210 FWY on Azusa had piqued my interest when I'd ferried an Uber Eats order from there on SAT. Interest captured by the vivid scents wafting from the kitchen and the mostly positive Yelp reviews, I boomeranged back 24 hrs later to place my maiden order. I went with Shanghai Egg Rolls and the Yang Chow Fried Rice, but I'd asked them to substitute more chicken and Chinese sausage for the shrimp, as your favorite Yelp correspondent has never enjoyed shrimp in any form other than cocktails. The staff is exceedingly nice!!! Owner/proprietor JOSEPH and his wife skate around as balls of determined energy, but with welcoming smiles affixed to their faces. The prices are pretty reasonable- My tab for a generous multi-protein entree and appetizer was $19.34 including taxes. But can we please have a conversation about the flavors? Couwami partisans! Tell me-- Did your faithful correspondent order the wrong items?! My Shanghai Egg Rolls were undercooked, limp and flaccid. The flavors were solid but the texture was so off-putting and uncharacteristic for a typical egg rolls, that I could barely get them down. The Yang Chow Fried Rice was also undercooked- I'm used to fried rice that has a toasted, beigy-yellow finish with chicken or pork cooked to at least medium to medium well doneness. My entree was, as the picture attest, a faint ivory hue and I actually hadta toss it in my skillet for five minutes to toast up the rice and finish cooking the tendrils of chicken, which were served medium rare, a micro-degree above pink but with the unpleasant mouth feel of sushi. Not exactly the way you'd expect your proteins to be prepared! I'm a huge believer in redemption. And judging by the hundreds of 4.2 level reviews on Yelp, I suppose its possible I just caught the cook on a bad night or ordered the WDT (Wrong Damn Thing)...twice! I'd normally accord two stars but will bump this up to three based on the utter civility and decency that Joseph and his staff extended to me.

I came in on a Sunday afternoon around 3pm, and my first impressions walking in was the interior is clean and pleasantly warm. I ordered the creamy mala seafood pasta since it was the most unique dish on the menu. Service was good but nothing special. Creamy mala seafood pasta, 2.5/5: The pasta was inoffensively average. There were some bites that were creamy and some bites that weren't. I honestly thought it could use more cream or butter to add some more richness. The pasta itself was al dente. There wasn't much flavor overall with the dish, and the mala was very mild (for reference, I can handle medium spice levels at other restaurants). The seafood quality was okay for the price. Overall, I thought the ambiance was really nice, but the pasta I ordered was average at best. Maybe I will give this place a 2nd chance and try something else.

Overall, the food was excellent, even my Asian parents, who can be pretty critical when it comes to Chinese food, gave most dishes high marks. The crispy noodles had great texture, the West Lake beef soup was comforting and flavorful, and the eggplant portions were generous. The service was what I'd describe as classic Chinese restaurant service. The waitress came across as a little rushed and occasionally seemed slightly annoyed, but she was still attentive and accommodated everything we asked for without any issues. Our food came out at a reasonable pace, and we never felt forgotten or had to chase anyone down. The atmosphere had its own unique charm. The restaurant was playing early-2000s hip-hop while a Chinese gangster drama played on the TV, which made for an unexpectedly entertaining backdrop. The restroom was also clean, which is always appreciated. My only real criticism is the sweet and sour pork. The batter itself was crispy and well executed, but too many of the pieces were mostly breading wrapped around bone with very little meat. It was the one dish I probably wouldn't order again. Even with that one miss, everything else was strong enough that we left very satisfied.

We were 1/3 parties so I'm not sure if it changes when it gets busy. There's plenty of parking.
