First time trying this place and it was BOMB. Not sure what kind of cultural food it is but it's definitely an Asian fusion. Gives me Hawaiian vibes! Each combo plate comes with rice and salad and mac salad. Honestly, I advise to always upgrade to garlic rice. It's an extra $2 but it's so worth it. The garlic rice is SOOO GOOD. Very garlicky without being bitter or spicy. Won't regret it! Tried their skin on Seattle chicken and beef belly. Both was delicious and savory. I would have preferred a different dressing for the salad. It wasn't that good and had a weird sweetness to it. Can I suggest sesame dressing? Hint hint! Mac salad was just okay. Pros: -delicious protein -delicious garlic rice -careful takeout packaging -free parking in shared plaza lot Cons: -could use a better salad dressing

Went to Haven City on a random Wednesday and came across Flavor Belly. We ordered the Seattle style skin on chicken with beef belly add-on. We thought it would be another rice plate place but to our surprise, the food was delicious! The chicken was crispy and O-M-G the asian chimichurri added more flavor to it. The macaroni salad was good too but I wanted less pepper (personal preference). We went again the next day for dinner because we craved for it again! Would recommend trying them!

SAUCES. For context I drove like 45 minutes out to haven city because I was expecting taste of the pacific to be at this exact spot. Turns out they are longer open and Flavor belly has replaced them. I wanted to be angry at Flavor belly but it was good. The teriyaki plate with garlic rice was filling and the chicken was tender. Wasn't too charred and had decent moisture. Wished the garlic rice had more garlic flavor since it costs extra but maybe I just couldn't feel it in the moment. I eventually did burp up garlic all day. What makes the place is the sauces you get to try. I got the garlic sauce and the green sauce and lathered my meat. What I did not like was the side of shrimp!!! $8 for 3 shrimp!!! And the video on the screen makes them look huge! And red !!! I even confirmed before purchasing, I asked, the same shrimp from the tv screen , and they responded with yes. I receive my SHRIMP and it's like 2 inches long, only 3, and they aren't red like in the video. That was a rip. Overall not a bad pick in this food hall.

Located inside Haven City, there's always plenty of seating inside and out. This plaza is always spacious and clean. I came around 11:25 am and they were nice to start taking orders as they weren't open yet :). Service was great and friendly. I tried their Seattle style skin on chicken and it was crispy and garlicky delicious! The chicken was sooo tender and paired perfectly with the garlic rice +$2, salad, and mac salad. The salad was refreshing and mac was nice. The total came out to be around $21 and included complimentary sides of sauces like their garlic aioli (creamy and very garlicky) and chimichurri sauce. Would definitely come back and order the same plate or try their beef belly bowl. Flavor belly is defff flavorful :D

Flavor Belly is another great addition to HCWC. I recently tried the "Seattle" style chicken, which is basically crispy chicken served with mac salad and a side salad. Overall, the plate was delicious; I really like their mac salad, which I think is a good indicator of a quality teriyaki plate. The standout for me was the sauces. They really add that extra oomph. I asked for their recommended sauces and was given the chimichurri and garlic aioli. The chimichurri is definitely something I would order again. Overall, I would definitely return. It does have a higher price tag for me compared to other food stalls at HCWC and similar restaurants.

I wanted to update Flavor Belly to the 5/5 it deserves! We came by to try the Seattle Style "Skin On"Chicken plate today and that thang was fire! Per last review, owner John said to try the Seattle Style. Shout outs to the chef/owner John for the recommendation. The plate delivered at every level. And it's probably, the one I'll go with again. Hopefully in the future my wife and I could say what's up on the next visit. The $20 with the upgrade of the garlic rice is totally worth it. They had just opened so we had no problems finding tables to sit down. The portion comes with two rows of the chicken. A great plate to share or save the rest for later. That crispy skin was next level! The texture and moistness of the chicken is top tier. *chef's kiss*. The chicken was so moist and cooked to perfection. The Mac salad tasted much better too. I love that you can choose multiple sauces. We got the Bellyaki, Verde and Asian Chimichurri this time and enjoyed each one. Can't wait to come back again. Enjoy the updated pics and flicks. Hope it makes others want to try it out. Thanks, Flavor Belly! ( ^_^)b

I've been here twice now with my husband. We decided to share the Seattle Style Skin-On Chicken plate with garlic fried rice. The sauces are given on the side and you can order as many as you want without charge. We got the Bellyaki, Verde, and the Asian Chimichurri sauces. We waited about 10 mins for our food and at the time it wasn't busy. When we got our food it was to our surprise to see two rows of sliced chicken with the *crispiest* skin. I'm craving this right now as I'm typing this out. It was perfectly seasoned. The garlic rice was so flavorful and had the perfect amount of garlic. The sauces complimented the plate so well, you can't go wrong with any of them. The iceberg lettuce and mac salad were delicious as well. This is by far our favorite plate. I've tried their shrimp plate as well, that's also a very good option. You get a lot of food for what you pay for. It's a great option to share with someone or to save half for later. Flavor Belly is located in the West Covina Haven City Market. Their area was clean and the employees were informative and helpful. We are definitely coming back here.

I had a memorable experience at Flavor Belly (West Covina). I ordered the "Seattle Style" Skin-On Chicken ($18.99) with Garlic Rice (additional $2) and free sauces (i.e. Garlic Aioli, Asian Chimichurri). An audible gasp of wonder peeped out when I combined that moist, clean chicken with its bold sauce. It became infinitely better, and I greedily devoured this distinct, memorable feast! (Important: Cash is not accepted. Must use Card or Cashless Payment.) I arrived at Flavor Belly (West Covina) on Tuesday (around 6:55PM). Parking was available this late weekday. The lot is big; however, there's always competition since it uses the extremely popular Haven City Market's lot. Staff is professional, welcoming, and helpful. Staff (receipt says Jade) answered all my questions and worked hard. Jade would work non-stop while always maintaining a cheerful smile. My order took 13 minutes and 27 seconds. Good pace! As mentioned, I enjoyed the "Seattle Style" Skin-On Chicken ($18.99) with Garlic Rice (additional $2). The chicken is moist & clean. Its accompanying macaroni salad is bouncy and bright. Its salad is crisp and fresh. The garlic rice came hot, fluffy, and savory with a prominent, addictive garlic flavor. Individually, each aspect of the meal is very good; however, the magic kicks in when the sauces get involved. I absolutely adored the Garlic Aioli sauce; this sauce is creamy & lightly sweet with a fresh garlic taste. The Asian Chimichurri sauce is zesty & bright with a spicy kick. After dipping the chicken, there's a delightful flavor explosion. "SO GOOD!" Regarding ambiance, it's minimal at Flavor Belly (West Covina). This business is a food stall in the the popular Haven City Market. Fortunately, the stall is attractive with its bright, vibrant colors. Since the location is located within the popular Haven City Market, there's plenty of indoor and outdoor tables. There's also a nearby restroom. Haven City Market also has security guards for safety. There's flat screen tv's that play basketball and football games. There's also customer internet with password; information is posted on the columns. The location is also well-ventilated, very clean, and bustling with many cheerful customers. Overall, Flavor Belly (West Covina) exceeded all expectations. It's a memorable, flavorful experience. I left full and happy. If you love chicken, this is an easy recommendation. 5 out of 5. "GO!!"

Came by flavor belly on a Friday night and it was busy. I ordered the chicken and the shrimp. The chicken was flavorful and juicy. The shrimp were plump and perfectly crispy. I ordered the garlic rice for both which was nicely flavored. The salad was a bit plain and simple but the macaroni salad was delicious. Its a little pricey but the food has great flavor. They have all these side sauces which are great especially the chimichurri.

My wife, family, and a few friends were in the mood for chicken teriyaki. What better place than my new and favorite place for such a meal? I love this place. The food here is fantastic. The chicken is well-prepared, the rice is good, the salad is fresh and crunchy, and the service is excellent! The entire vibe of this restaurant and the whole food court is fun, relaxed, and inviting. Another positive experience achieved

I heard Haven City Market in West Covina got a few new tenants. Flavor Belly is one of them. I had to come here to check them out. So very glad I did. The hype is REAL! Everything was amazingly delicious! Food was so good, I had to return here the next day to try the other half of their menu LOL. They currently have 4 different plates (see below). Yes, I have tried them all except for the Beef Belly because I don't eat beef anymore. Huge portions of chicken in both chicken plates. Love the chicken tenderness on the inside and lightly crispiness on the outside... MORE "SEATTLE STYLE" PLEASE... SO GOOD!! All plates come with white rice, macaroni salad, and iceberg lettuce in light dressing. For $2 more, you can upgrade to garlic rice. Get the garlic rice! Trust me on this one. They offer sides of specific items. Their sauces are so good... my favorites are Asian Chimichurri and Garlic Aioli! Day 1 - OG Teriyaki Chicken Plate (My 2nd choice!) - "Seattle Style" Skin-On Chicken Plate (Hands down my 1st choice!) - Side Pickled Cucumber Day 2 - Beef Belly Plate - Crispy Shrimp Plate (My 3rd choice, I prefer my shrimp to be grilled) I got to meet the owner, Johnny. He's a really nice guy. He shared how each plate is made. Good info. Overall staff was very welcoming and friendly. Service was amazing. I highly recommend this place 100%. I'll be back for more chicken deliciousness. Thank you Flavor Belly for sharing the WOW WOW and WOW in your plates!! Tip: They normally don't give out paper receipts. If you need one, you'll have to ask for it. Thanks.

Have always wanted to check this out. Weekdays seem to be better for crowds.

The skin on chicken was so good. Skin was still crispy while cooked all the way through. I got the graphic fried rice instead of white rice and it was good! It looked so good that I forgot to take a pic prior to starting to eat. They recommended the aoli and chimmichuri sauce. Both were spot on. The person who took my order was very personable. Once he found out my name, he called me by name until I got my order. I'm very big on that. With the flavor belly being in the haven city food court, had plenty of space.

But I can at least guarantee that the mall is always lively and there's plenty of parking. Lots of restaurants around and across the street too. What I like best about this mall is their effort to foster community here, such as the Dia de los Muertos display or when I happened to walk pass a Bluey Xmas dance party and you can take pictures with Santa AND Bluey. Super cute. One time years and years ago, they had a scavenger hunt for Christmas where you search around the mall to take photos with your phone for an ornament. I really liked that I did that and got to spend time with my family. I've seen so many shops come and go here and pieces of my childhood through adolescence such as the Disney Store (I remember spending time here looking through that giant plushie pile), the merry go round, Surf City Squeeze (always thought their mascot looked cool, now replaced with a Pop Mart vending machine), Nothing But Silver (went here lots with my mom and aunts), Sanrio Surprise, Amapola Deli and Market (crazy they tried to open a market in here), the hermit crab vendor, McDonald's that my mom would always get my brother and I and the vendors that would try to sell stickers at our table, the dollar store on the upper floor above Baskin Robbins, the used bookstore and so much more. Huge chunk of nostalgic memories for me, but today it's decent mall with most things that you would need. Some shops I go to often to get gifts or pick up something for myself, See's (thanks for closing PH location), Hot Topic, Bath and Body Works, Miniso, etc. At least the Tilt arcade here is still open. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here, but if you're already here, might as well enjoy malls before more of them perish.

I ordered the Rose Topokki Soup ($15.99). It did not taste like soup. Rather, this dish resembles…read morea Thai curry filled with chewy Tteokbokki/rice cakes. It's an acquired taste. (Important Note: The location only accepts card and contactless payment. No cash.) The Rose Topokki's broth is creamy, starchy, and well-seasoned. Also, the dish is not too spicy; it provides a welcomed kick. However, the dish is comparable to a flavorful large snack instead of a filling meal. There will be a lot of Tteokbokki chewing. I can understand the Rose Topokki's appeal, but this type of snack isn't for me. I arrived on Monday (around 8PM). Thankfully, the parking lot had many open spaces this evening. Jaws Topokki (West Covina) had no wait as its front staff member stood quietly. Staff is welcoming and helpful. After ordering, I was provided an electric pager to signal when my food was ready. My order was completed within eight minutes. Jaws Topokki (West Covina) is located in the Haven City Market. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Both areas are clean. I selected outdoor because the inside felt stuffy. Also, Haven City Market tends to play a lot of American Pop and/or Country Music. Overall, Jaws Topokki (West Covina) is a wonderful choice if you're craving Tteokbokki/rice cakes. This location prepares it well, and it's a flavorful experience. Just be prepared for a lot of chewing if selecting the Rose Topokki Soup. Solid 4.2 out of 5.

Eduardo the owner is ALWAYS very attentive and full of joy to serve us. He checks on us to make sure everything is ok with our orders. Kiren the other owner has been awesome too, since our first visit. She was concerned my daughter wasn't eating. Also, always checking in on us. She remembered us the second time we came and asked if my daughter if she was doing better because the first time we were there she had morning sickness so she couldn't enjoy her food. I love finding hidden GEMS, especially Mexican restaurants, with real Mexican food!! What can I say ?! We love it ! Five times here. No regrets. Always good. Food is delicious! Service is AWESOME! Always so friendly, warm, & helpful since the first time we found them. . :D Can't believe it took me so long to find this hidden gem living nearby and around here all the time. How did I find it ?? Well, how do I, and we all, find all my / our favorite restaurants? I Yelped of course !!! :D I was in the area looking for a good place to eat. I yelped Mexican food and TA DA ! I would have never found it, since it's sort of hidden in an area less traveled, in the shopping center across from the West Covina Mall, behind sushiholics & The Bundt place. Same center where Panera is & Sushiholics, except it's on the back side street, on California Ave. I would have never walked over there, on the backside of the shopping center. Just happy to have found it now! Besides GREAT SERVICE, GREAT FOOD ! We are suckers for birria. So 1st time here we had birria chilaquiles with over medium eggs plate, quesabirria, and ramen birria hehe ! YUMMM Yes, it was good, a little spicy for me, but good. I always have to clarify how I want my eggs at restaurants because believe it or not some cooks don't understand that over medium means soft yolks. They sometimes bring me over hard and that's not what I ordered. Over medium eggs have to be just right! No runny whites and no hard yolk. I explained that to Eduardo when ordering because I didn't want hard or soft; runny & gooey whites ewww. So I'm always very specific. Eduardo said no problem, if we don't get them right we can remake them for you. :D Woohooo ! They were perfect! Not many places get it right the first time, so they always remake them, but not here ! PERFECTION !! Thank you Eduardo!! I was happy ! Can't forget about the coffee!!! Oooh coffee! We love coffee so when the owner told us iced coffee ! Whoa ! Our eyes lit up ! YESSSSS please! It was good as well and when she saw we had finished it, she offered us a free refill. Thank you my new friend! You're the best !!! You made our day !!! We were like we're coming back !!! 2nd time, I had bulgogi breakfast bowl with over medium eggs ! I love eggs with beef ! Who doesn't ?! lol Eggs were perfect ! Beef was perfect too ! My grandson ate all my bulgogi though lol! I guess he liked it too. 3rd time on Friday 7/25/25 Eduardo always very cheerful & welcoming :) I ordered the chicken salad lunch, daughter ordered the green pozole! She's a sucker for green pozole hehe. I loved my salad! It was perfect! The chicken was perfect, pulled pieces with a green dressing that was whoa soooo YUMMMM ! This is making me hungry now. Daughter said pozole was good too Of course we will be back !! Need to try to yellow curry ! Next couple times had to order some previously had dishes like Birria ramen, tacos, pozole and chicken salad. Eduardo also accommodated my grandson, as he loves chicken but we get him grilled chicken. So he made a kids version of the chicken salad and it was just perfect and delicious too. PS good spot for kids too. They have a Foosball table ! So when they get antsy, they can go play! Kids love it and play every time. Great thinking! Thank you for this addition to your restaurant ! It's a plus for us with little ones because it helps with their impatience. This is GOLD !! Thank you Eduardo and Kiren ! We will be back next time we're looking for yummy Mexican food or are nearby. Have you tried ? Let me know if you stop by. I'd love to know what was your favorite dish. Happy eating & happy Yelping ! SYOY or IG ;) PS Support small family owned pro American businesses. IYKYK ;) Our communities need to thrive and it's up to us to help our community have the best services & places to eat. McDonald's isn't going anywhere and neither is Taco Bell or Starbucks.
