In the past my family have been coming here for the food and the friendly faces. This past weekend we received the worst customer service we have ever experienced. We arrived for dim sum around 12:30 they were pretty busy. It first started when they gave away my table. So they lady had asked me to follow her to a table and then paused and asked me to wait while another family took the table. And she said it's ok your entire party is not here yet--but the other party was also incomplete. We said we had 9 people and there were only 8 chairs so we had to hunt down another chair ourselves. We had ordered one round of dim sum and then they ran out of food (at 12:30). We also ordered a beef chow fun for my brother. We were sipping on water for 45 minutes. Until we were fed up and left and paid our bill. My grandma tried waive the waitresses down many times to ask about the status about the chow fun and they ignored her (even when they were right in front of her) we tried to get refills on water and no attention. The owner came by and said no problem-- but how do you say there is no problem when no one got full and there was no food. We ended up canceling the chow fun because it never came. I understand when the kitchen staff are low on hands but you do not ignore your customers that many times. We are not coming back. read more

Meh. I wish it was better. I love dim sum and am always looking for places in the Seattle area but for some reason none of it is ever good. Yes, I've been spoiled to have eaten dim sum in San Francisco when I lived there and various times in Vancouver, but not sure why I can't find anything that's even close here in Seattle. It's not like it's lacking Chinese people here and there's quite a bit of dim sum restaurants here. Anyways, Foo Lam is tucked away in a corner of a very busy strip mall. Parking is horrific and you almost have to get lucky. The restaurant itself looks okay I guess. Like they tried to be extravagant but it's not really. Service is bleh. I spent most of the time listening to maybe the "boss"? yelling at one of the cart pushers and honestly it's BS cause she was yelling at her for the crap service she herself was giving in front of customers. Kind of sad that she treat her employee that way and I wish these types of people were not in positions of power. Food is bleh. It does the job to satisfy the hunger but it's nothing to rave about. I did like the sticky leaf chicken rice though. Probably the best thing I had here. Probably won't go back and it's hard to recommend as there's so many other options with the same standard of food. read more

The food was good but, the service was okay for the price that we paid for. We booked this venue to celebrate our daughters first birthday and had booked approximately eight tables for our party, which is expensive. For the price we were expecting the service to match. Our guest complain that some of the food items on the menu were not serve for them while other tables received theirs. Water had to be ask to be refilled. There was no air conditioning and the tables were packed and jammed together. I wish I could give out more stars but, I don't think I will book another event here. The reason why I give it two stars instead of one is because I actually enjoy the food. If only the service can make up for the lack of air conditioning and space than I would of still give this place 5 stars. read more

Surprised to see only 16 reviews on this place. Basically a larger hole in wall place that serves authentic Cantonese food. The owners appear to be Cantonese Chinese from Vietnam. Cantonese food is not my current favourite but I find the three dishes we ordered to hit the spot. The lamb hotpot was very tasty with depth of flavor that is not easily found. It did have some chips of lamb bone which unfortunately is very much part of its authenticity. The Chinese love to hack their meat to pieces whether it be lamb or chicken. Don't order this if you can't deal with bone chips in your meal. The Chinese broccoli was well done. Can't be much skill to this but then again I have had some bad Chinese brocolli. The house special stir fry was chives with Chinese sausage. My least favourite of the three but it was tasty and both the chives and sausage imparted its unique flavor. All in all a great meal. I've ordered take-out from Foo Lam several times and I have to say I'm very impressed. I'm not quite adventurous enough to order the authentic dishes (no chicken heads for me), but I've thought all the Americanized Chinese plates were good. Flavor profiles are pretty much what you'd expect. I think the ingredient quality is higher than other, similar joints and Foo Lam's portions are HUGE! Foo Lam has been a family dim sum favorite destination for years now. Had Dim Sum for lunch for the first time since Covid hit this week. Scrumptious and the tea there is always so good! As I packed up our extra items the server noticed that we weren't taking the lo bak go. I admitted that it didn't taste quite right, but no big deal. Wonderful food and exceptional service. Both sit down and take out. The food offered covers a broad range of Chinese cuisine and I like that. Especially Congee. And when I asked about certain dishes I like, I was informed if I gave them advance notice they would be able to accommodate my request. Otherwise, some of the dish selections I wished for were not available. Not a deal breaker at all. The food was hot, delicious, and plentiful. The Moo Shu Pork was exceptional. If you like bland, HIGHLY OVERPRICED Chinese food, which requires you to bring it home, reheat it and re-season ALL OF IT, then this is your place! The base for the hot & sour soup is CAMPBELL'S TOMATO SOUP!!!! It gives it a disgusting SWEET flavor which will only prompt you to flush it like I did. The broccoli with garlic sauce was a reheated bag of frozen broccoli florets with a few cloves of garlic, which were allowed to float around in the melted freezer burn liquid from the store-bought broccoli. Mu-Shu pork had just FOURTEEN TINY PIECES OF PORK (yep... I counted... I was THAT pissed off!!) within a mess of minimally chopped CHUNKS of cabbage...which appeared to have been merely "colored" with some soy sauce. The pancakes for this disastrous dish were mere egg roll wrappers which disintegrated upon touch... adding to the hideous experience of eating here. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND PURCHASE THOSE CRAPPY BOXED ASIAN MEALS FROM THE SUPERMARKET... I'm sure they're better than this place! BLECHT!!!! P.S. I thought I might rescue this horrible experience with the satisfying CRUNCH of the kitschy fortune cookies found in the bottom of the bag... But ALAS! We went here with a group and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The woman that was serving our large group was very helpful when it came to directing us around the menu and our collective dietary requirements. She kept up with our tea and water, and was so kind to the children that were with us who were losing steam and getting a little crabby by the time dinner came around. I actually splurged pretty big on this trip and got the lobster for the group to share. It was cooked very well, though a little heavy handled on the ginger. We also got as a group the General Tsao Chicken (I didn't have), wonton and egg flower soups (tasty), the Singapore Noodles (delicious, but the squid was tough), the broccoli (perfectly steamed, giant florets), green beans ( a little greasy), gyoza (children devoured before I had any), white rice (standard but good), shrimp dumplings (fantastic), and duck(never arrived). The Honey Garlic Prawns that we got were fantastic. The fry was crispy and light and the sauce was the perfect, sweet and rich compliment to that. I want to say that this was my favorite dish that we ordered while we were there. Everything did arrive in a bit of a haphazard fashion, as the kitchen made it. Because we were a large group and happy to be visiting and sharing dishes with each other, this wasn't a problem, and was actually more enjoyable because we got the chance to sample each item as it came--I could see how it would be a bit of a problem if folks weren't sharing and some folks were going to end up either having to wait for others food while theirs got cold in front of them--or eating in front of people still waiting on their food. Ordered dry scallop fry rice with egg white, braised tofu with broccoli,( tofu is so tender and flavorful) sweet sour pork( not too sour which is great. ) salty fish stir fried noodles , light and fluffy . Food is not oily like other Chinese restaurant. Not too salty and did not feel thirsty after the meal (no MSG) . Family approved. I like to go there go there between 2-4 pm less less crowded . The good: they're open on Christmas. The place is huge. Breaded pork and mongolian beef were ok. The bad: the food is very mediocre and bland and as such is way overpriced for what you're getting. Even the dishes that are starred as spicy aren't spicy at all (worst eggplant stir fry I've ever had--completely lacking in flavor). Service was terribly slow even though the restaurant wasn't that busy yet, so we had to wait forever to start eating. I was lucky that someone else was very generous and paid for dinner. These people have a lot of nerve selling a huge pile of noodles with exactly 2 shrimp and 2 pieces of chewy something that I assume was squid, calling it 'seafood chow mein' and charging 14 bucks for it. Yes, I realize chow mein is noodles, but any other place around town I've had it actually put a respectable amount of other ingredients in it. Look at Snappy Dragon, if you want a great example. Lately I've been on a dim sum craze and trying a lot of different restaurants. Overall I think a 3.5 would be suitable. Customer Service: 4.0 It's easy to communicate with the staff since they all speak English so you can ask about the things on the cart. At other places when you point to something they have already placed it on your table when all you were doing was trying to determine contents. They also had smiles and maybe it was a manager that came up to us after we finished to see if we liked everything and if we had any questions. I didn't feel like an annoyance there, like I have at some places. Food: 3.5 Most everything was pretty good. We discovered a few new things that we hadn't tried before or seen at other places. The black sesame ball with green tea paste was something new and delicious. They also had the regular sesame balls with bean paste, which were great, but seemed to be a bit more oily and tasting of oil than some of the other places we have tried. I wasn't crazy about their shrimp dumplings, the wrappers were so sticky you could barely get them out of the bowl and didn't have a lot of taste. There was however a shrimp and chive dumpling that tasted amazing! 3.0 location Through no fault of their own this place is much further from home than I had thought it would be. It does have a parking lot which makes it more convenient but not sure i would go too far out of my way again for it. I think this is a great place to go if you want to try dim sum for the first time and have no Chinese friend to go with you and help you make your selections. A pretty standard dim sum place - not great, not bad either. Mostly there are varieties of dumplings with different filling - lots of pork and shrimp. It's a big place, much like some dim sum places in the international district, but it really isn't worth a special trip. The food tasted fine; one dish stood out, in fact. But...I got sick a couple of hours later, and it was the only thing I had eaten by lunchtime that day :/ I didn't order anything unusual, and I didn't find that the food was overly greasy either, so I'm not sure what happened. When I went in, there was nobody in the restaurant. I was seated promptly and given a menu. It took a while to get my order taken but the food came out relatively quick. Atmosphere-wise, it's not my kind of place to eat. It's big and has the Chinese banquet hall thing going on. It reminded me of Jumbo. I ordered the squab and it looked and tasted really good. Shiny, roasted skin, well-seasoned meat. Its little head peering at me as if to say, "Aren't I delicious?" The long beans with garlic and peppers were fine, and the braised tofu's sauce, while a little watery and too bland for me, wasn't inedible. Since I can get the equivalent squab in the ID, I don't really see myself returning. You can never truly know what makes your tummy ill, so I guess I can just say to try it yourself if you have a large group you're trying to feed and maybe a stronger stomach than I had that day. read more

The size of the dim sum at this place is XL. Puts Dim Sum King to shame even though their prices are similar. The beef rice rolls actually have a generous portion of beef which is the first I've seen around here. The sui mai and meatballs are huge and flavorful. Not really a fan of their hai gow but is passible. The baked bbq pork bun is stuffed with loads of bbq pork; my picky toddler can eat an entire one. A must get is the sesame mochi ball, best I've ever had. I dream of that stuff. I have to warn you, service is not the best. The waitstaff are friendly but really forgetful and speak mainly Chinese. Basically things get awkward every time I eat there. Now I order takeout only and they do a good job of making sure your order is correct and done on time. Love this place. read more

Favorites and variety. I came here with friends on a Sunday morning. At 10:30a there were plenty of open tables, by 11:30a it was jam packed. High table turnover rate so the food seemed quite fresh and there were lots of dishes I didn't recognize. Carts came by tables at a pretty fast pace, and service refilling tea pots was good. I wouldn't consider this destination dim sum, but if you are anywhere in the general area, this is an excellent choice. Free parking is pretty easy at the mall lot in front and behind the restaurant along with neighborhood street parking. read more

Had always eaten in this restaurant until COVID-19. The food always great which is why this is our "go to " restaurant. We have never ordered to go food before, but since the epidemic hit, we thought it would be a great trial time for us to try it. Looked at the menu, chose the food we liked, called the order to the restaurant, told to come in 20 minutes to pick up, arrived at restaurant and called them that I am here to pick, got home and unpacked our goodies, and YUMMY!!Ordered again about 2weeks later and food was still YUMMY.
