Solid spot with multiple locations for your convenience and pretty straightforward menu!! Only burgers or cheeseburgers and I'm not a smash expert but these were not super thin but nice moist and crispy edges!! Don't sleep on a side of fries absolutely delicious!!! Highly recommend adding the pickled jalepeno peppers!! Unfortunately only sell Pepsi products if I had to critic anything? read more

We have been meaning to try For The Win for some time. Today was the day.. We went on a recent Sunday and got parking in the lot right out front. Nice. We ordered three burgers, one with no sauce, some fries, Mexican coke and a Topo Chico: 4.50 apiece felt a bit high.. The burgers arrived quickly. Definitely smash burgers as there was a nicely crispy edge all the way around. Good stuff. The burgers reminded me a bit of The Win-Dow's pickles and sauce & soft bun. The fries were piping hot and I liked there were packet condiments to add. All in all very good and well likely come back again. read more

May 2026 - 2nd Visit A girl broke things off with me today, and yet somehow eating here was the lowest point of my day. I don't understand how this place has won awards. I ordered a double hamburger and sweet potatoes fries bc I knew better than to order the sprouts after last time. And I have to say, the burger outdid itself after last time -- I've easily had dozens of better burgers in backyards. This burger had NO flavor. None. Halfway through eating it I realized they didn't put any effing pickles or sauce on it. WHAT?! How did you forget this?! But still, even without those, are you guys not smashing any season into your burger? I feel like I've discovered a conspiracy on par with the Da Vinci Code, which if I'm honest I'm not sure if that's a proper conspiracy analogy bc I never saw or read da Vinci code. Sucking a ketchup packet would've resulted in a more flavorful dinner. Licking a Hollywood blvd sidewalk for 3 seconds would give you a better sodium intake. But I digress. For health and digestive reasons (bc my digestive system is not really functional) I snuck in a radish to eat post burger. I am not kidding when I say the grocery store GMO Monsanto radish had more flavor than the burger. The sweet potato fries were the "highlight" of the meal and tasted as good as anything you'll get in a grocery store frozen aisle. There's no reason to ever go back. read more

When you first enter this restaurant you're hit with a disgusting smell of Cooking Oil and Ketchup! We ordered a Hamburger, Cheeseburger, 1 Fries, 1 Can of Coke and 1 Chocolate Milkshake for a pre-tax, pre-tip total of $38.95. The Burgers were mediocre at best and smashed into a taste-less paper-thin patty. The fries ($4.95) were the size of the smallest McDonald's value size and tasted like them. For some bizarre reason the Chocolate Milkshake took almost 30 minutes to arrive. I kept motioning to the employee behind the grill and he kept saying it's on the way. I watched 3 parties make and receive their orders long before the Chocolate Milkshake was finally delivered. The Chocolate Milkshake was horrible! It looked and tasted like melted chocolate ice cream. After spending $49.76, I left feeling that I'd wasted lots of money and time. There are dozens of substantially better places than this within walking distance or buy some good ground beef and smash it at home. It's not rocket science! read more

I have never visited the location in person and have always ordered via doordash but I can honestly say this places food travels well. The food is delicious. It is a simple and easy menu but the taste makes up for it. This is the only place where the fries travel well when they arrive. The service is always accurate. I will always be coming back. read more

Came here as I was reading that it was the best smash burger in all of LA. The restaurant is mainly takeout with a few seats if you wanted to eat there. Got to the counter, ordered a double smash with all the fixings. Also sweet potato fries. Service was fast and friendly. I suppose my expectations were overhyped. The burger was good, but would not say it was the best I have ever had. It was solid. Sweet potato fries were crispy and good. 4 stars for both friendly service and a decent burger/fries. read more

Decided to go on a burger crawl in Cali to see what is the best burger because people raved about In-and-Out. But my opinion is that For the Win is the best burger. Ordered a basic cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. It was delicious and freshly prepared. It's a tiny unassuming shop. Very low key, shelves of wine bottles (so, is it gourmet burgers then?) Limited communal tables but full of customers. Self serve condiment station on the side (packets of ketchup, etc). Very cool vibe but in a sketchy neighborhood. Awesome food! Definitely the better burger of all the ones taste tested. Would love to return. read more

Can get pricey -- the base cheeseburger (1 patty) is $9 and to make it a double patty, plus to add any of the following are extra on top of that: bacon, lettuce + tomato, and jalapeños. It's not as good as all the hype! I got a cheese burger and fries. Meat is fresh and pressed. A bit greasy and messy. The fries were crisp and salty just like I Like them. The place is small and very crowded. The staff doesn't take your order, it's all done digitally. But they were cheerful. Pretty good wait time, and an even better ambiance and atmosphere inside with cute plants and bottles of wine. It's a self-service kiosk, and then they call out your food when it's ready. So good! It's no wonder They are listed on the top 10 for smash burgers in LA. I got the double patty cheeseburger. The sauce was delicious, cooked to perfection. The bread is also soft and fluffy. Friendly staff, perfect spot for a late night meal. I would definitely return, I still dream of the burger. They do have French fries, sweet potato and other states but didn't order. Chill vibes here. Plenty of parking in the lot. read more

Great casual place to grab a delicious, greasy smashburger! Stopped by on a road trip and the burgers hit the spot. The service was impeccable! That isn't something I tend to expect at a burger joint. Get the sweet potato fries! Beefin' with someone? Bring FTW sweet potato fries as a peace offering. Make sure there is enough room in your belly to eat all your sweet potato fries! Back to the service... I asked what was in the fry sauce. The gentleman disclosed and stated "I assume you're concerned about dairy." I was impressed. Dairy wasn't my concern but there was an allergen. There burger can be lovely without the Fry Sauce. Superb smash burgers and fries - we did a burger crawl for a friend's birthday and this was the winner (no pun intended). The beef lace on the burgers was delicious, the best smash burger I've ever had, and love the grilled onions cooked into the patty. I also appreciate there's an option to add lettuce, tomatoes and jalapeños. We've been ordering from the new local For The Win location by our home in West LA, it may not be quite as good as this location in Hollywood Hills, but we are return customers. Wasn't as big of a fan of the patty melt from the West LA location. We liked the shake too - tried the chocolate and loved the rich flavor with all the whipped cream but also not too sweet. Looking forward to trying the strawberry next time! read more

Finally tried this spot- we live in the OC and were in the area for a show. This rating is prob more like 3.5 stars. Overall it's a good burger- wasn't anything unique in my opinion. Especially for the prices. Sort of steep. I get it's a smash burger but still. Nothing jumped out at me. The flavor was good/standard. Seasoning was basic. Then the quality of meat compared to other smash burgers I have had was not as good. I got 2 doubles my wife got a regular cheeseburger. If I was in the area and we wanted a burger I consider stopping. But I much rather have other smash burgers in LA and the OC. I do recommend trying it for yourself. read more

I used to eat at this spot a lot as my buddy lives in an apartment just down the street, but haven't ate recently and was disappointed. Not as good as it used to be, I feel like the quality has went down a little. I think they changed the sauce because it doesn't taste the same as before, not a fan of it now. I had just got my hair done in the area and decided to look up some food places on Yelp for me and my friend to eat at. This place popped up and we decided to come here. The line was kinda long, out the door to be exact. This was a Saturday so it was pretty busy but not very loud. I placed an order for me and the hubby (he got a triple smash burger) and waited no more than 10 min. The burger was AMAZING! This was my 2nd time having a smash burger, 1st time here and I was thoroughly impressed! The meat patties were perfectly seasoned and smashed thin enough that gave it the perfect crust but yet somehow juicy and delicious. I didn't get any add-ons but I did switch it up a bit and got the sweet potato fries as well as some fry sauce. A little pricey for the small cup of sauce ($2) but I really liked it! Sweet, not too tangy. Overall, I will be back here again and again. Highly recommended. read more

Well... that was disappointing. For all the buzz around this place I was ready for some holy burger experience, but this was like a Cybertruck tried to be an In N Out burger. If that sounds cool to you, then you're probably exactly who they're playing to. Flashy marketing with aesthetically pleasing and promising photos with little to no substance. Honestly, I think they even forgot half the burger. We got the BOGO cheeseburger and one of them had two patties, the other just one. The "fry sauce" is just standard In N Out sauce with maybe a splash of sriracha. The fries are a smidge better than In N Out, but they're as much onion as they are fries. The real kicker is the manufactured sense of it all. You order from a touch screen. You call and it's an AI robot. They're sitting next to Kettle Glazed in Los Feliz, but pitching themselves as the Hollywood Hills. It's so Bro Coded I might barf this back up. It's overpriced for what you get, and that's about the nicest thing I can come up with for the overall experience. read more

We normally love For the Win, but last night's delivery was a major disappointment. I only ordered a Single Hamburger and Fries, and I can honestly say there wasn't a single thing good about it. The burger arrived completely cold. No warmth at all inside the bun and the fries were one cold, solid lump that looked like a rock. What made it even worse was the delivery experience. On the delivery menu, there's a Special Notes section. I clearly wrote in all caps "PLEASE RING THE DOORBELL. DO NOT LEAVE THE ORDER IN FRONT OF MY DOOR." My den is in the back of the house, so knocking won't be heard. Despite this, the order was left on the doorstep without the doorbell ever being pressed. The note was printed right on the receipt, so it's not like it was missed. Honestly, this whole experience was mind-boggling. It's safe to say we will NOT be ordering delivery from For the Win again. read more

I came here because I've been seeing it trending on social media and work about a mile away! One of the best things when going anywhere in LA is "Do they have parking?" and at FTW - they do! It's in a small plaza and tucked into the corner but we had no problem finding parking at lunchtime during the week. Major plus! The staff was friendly but nothing spectacular, I did feel like the guy at the counter was a little annoyed at our questions, but we explained we were first-timers and it's not common to have to add lettuce and tomato at a burger place for extra money, so bare with us while we're understanding the process here! I got the double-double with every charged add-on except bacon. The sodas are canned, not fountain so no free refills. I do like that the ketchup packages and napkins are all at each table, so you don't have to get up to grab yourself. I always get a side of ranch with my burgers & fries so I went back up after we settled down and asked if I could get some ranch and it was $0.85 so I had to get my card AGAIN and get it swiped AGAIN for RANCH! They nickel and dime you for everything here, so that's pretty annoying. I'm surprised they don't charge you a quarter to use their restroom. Maybe I shouldn't even mention that on here so that I don't give them any ideas! LOL The cheeseburger was really good, but I don't understand all of the hype for it. The fries were good, nothing special about them but still great as is. My coworker got the chicken sandwich and I didn't get to try it but the fried chicken wasn't so battered or crispy. If you're looking for a healthier fried chicken sandwich than average, this is your spot! The service is really fast, we did notice that so that's another bonus, but everything is kind of pricey so that's another thing to consider! They serve the burgers on the smallest plates ever. They're smaller than the plates your serve cake on for little kids' birthday parties. Inconvenient because I had no space for anything else except the burger. Regardless of their petty charges, I'd still come back again and just grab it to-go so I can use my ranch at home! read more

I got the fries and a single and when I quickly finished the burger I put the fries in a sack to go and got another single. So good. We ordered 3 burgers and added lettuce + tomatoes. The burgers took a few mins to make but that's ok because that means everything is made to order. The burgers were really good. My brother said he wouldn't add the lettuce and tomatoes next time but the rest of us enjoyed the add ons. The meat is an authentic smash burger meaning it's pretty thin so the double patty would be my choice for next time. The fries were enjoyable but the sweet potatoes fries were the real star. We also got to try the brussel sprouts and wow they had great flavor and a nice outer crunch. The restaurant itself is very small. There is limited seating inside as well as limited parking outside. The parking lot is also pretty small but people are constantly coming and going so we were able to find parking right in the front. Would definitely eat here again. read more

Bought into the smash burger hype and tried For The Win as my first smash burger experience. The wait was about 30min on a Sunday for lunch due to the hype and limited seating. It was overall a good experience, but I prefer a non-smash burger. The patty had good flavor, with crisp edges, and the toppings paired well. It was a good burger, but my personal preference I like the patty thicker. Fries were not that memorable, but I really enjoyed the brussels sprouts. Overall good experience, but possibly I have to give smash burgers another shot. read more

We arrived in the knick of time before a long line formed behind us. Nonetheless, the food comes out very quickly. The smash burger is good, however, I barely tasted the beef patty. The sauce was over powering. The fries and sweet potato fries were good... a lot like The Habit. The brussels sprouts were tangy and rich in vinegar. The place is simple and service is as expected. The food is good but uber messed up my order with they buy one get one free special and only added one burger to my order well the guy at the register did not care and just was going back and forth with me about it instead of fixing the issue. Though fries are not one of my strong points, both fries were crispy and I haven't had any other experience with Curly fries other than Jack in the Box, but these were so much better. Irv's originally opened in 1946 as Queen's Burgers, located right on Route 66 on Santa Monica Boulevard in WeHo, and was deeply ingrained in LA's historic car culture. In 1970, Irv Genis bought the stand and renamed it Irv's Burgers, and it quickly became a legendary late-night spot for rock icons like Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison. By 2000, Sonia Hong took over, famously hand-drawing doodles on the paper plates alongside her signature slogan, "Just for you." After closing in 2013 and again in 2018, Lawrence Longo partnered with Sonia in 2021 to bring the brand back to life. They've since expanded quite a bit, even opening locations in Malibu and Las Vegas. On a staff recommendation, I ordered Irv's Original Roadside Burger Double ($11.25). Honestly, it was just okay. While a certain amount of grease and salt is expected with a burger, this one crossed the line into being a bit too salty and oily. On the bright side, the sesame bun was excellent, and I loved that they kept Sonia's legacy alive by printing her classic doodles on the tray placemats. While I'm glad Irv's was saved from history and is expanding, the food itself felt pretty so-so. The outdoor tables were also a bit dirty during my visit. A group of us were on our way to a local concert, and decided ahead of time to have an early dinner at this location. Most of us, except one, hadn't been there before. In short, the food is okay not bad at all. However, the customer service or at least our waiter is why I will never make a drive to eat there... Most of us ordered one of their hamburgers, with fries, and had beverage. When we were seated outside, we asked the waiter if we can do separate bills and he immediately said yes just discuss with the next waiter and he'll take care of it as he was ending his shift. When I brought it up to the next waiter, he said we will work that out at the end when he gets the bill. Then came everything else...The waiter forgot part of our order, never brought it. Trying to get the waiter to give us some attention any attention at all was pointless. The customer service this guy provided was awfull!!!! However, he did remember to try and bill us for the part of the order he never brought. At the end, he then tells us we can't do separate billing for our group. Nice, we then had to sit and figure out how much we each owe etc...and had to again get him to come over to us. We even asked a bus boy to please get our waiter. Although the bacon triple looked tempting, I didn't try it. Unfortunately, the location leaves much to be desired. It's situated on a busy intersection and is tucked away in a small plaza with limited parking. Finding parking around the plaza or nearby can be challenging, and it took us several loops, around 15 minutes, to find a spot. We were fortunate to find the only available parking spot around the back. I would recommend taking an Uber or using a delivery service to avoid the parking hassle. read more

Very strange experience: I paid the extra to add lettuce and tomato, but they did not put any tomato on my burger...ordered 2 fries, and they only filled up each cup one-third of the way....asked for napkins, and they said they didn't have any napkins....asked to pay for ranch, and they didn't have any ranch....chicken sandwich was both cold and undercooked, if you can believe...as a matter of fact, the only thing that was hot was the fries, though i only received two-thirds of an order when I paid for 2 full orders....2-stars because I hope there is room for improvement. I decided to search for a new burger place in Hollywood on Google, but it turned out to be a terrible experience. The burger I had was incredibly greasy and soggy, making it the worst tasting burger I've ever had. The staff there were also extremely rude and displayed racist behavior. There was a large, overweight Latino guy who didn't even greet customers for seven minutes, and he would yell at a teenage boy who was flipping burgers. Moreover, they charged $16 for this disappointing meal. I should have chosen In-N-Out instead. It's best to avoid that place altogether since they seem to manipulate their reviews. They have a literal 20 dollar delivery fee. Ridiculous. Do not ever order food here. I had to jump in traffic while recovering from surgery to save 20 bucks with no sympathy from the staff.
