Spare rib and special rice noodle
    Kate C.

--Edit Aug 2024-- Sparerib with special rice noodle - terrible. The spareribs were good but the noodles are supposed to be very springy. It was not cooked well. The sauce provided was just very little sweet soy sauce. This type of noodle needs a lot of sauce. Deep fried bean curd wrap is still big and delicious

As a side note: this review is coming from the viewpoint of an American who thinks that the Chinese food in Canada is better than in the US in general. This restaurant is located on the second floor of a strip mall across the street from the T&T supermarket. Underground parking is plentiful and super convenient if you have an early dinner. All the dishes we ordered were very tasty and portions were huge compared to what we get in the states. The snow pea tips were 3x the amount we get in the states and the price was way cheaper. The crab was super yummy. It was very slightly battered and deep fried and then coated with a really good onion/soy/garlic sauce. The crab meat was tender and sweet. The shrimp was super fresh and had a good springy texture. The fried rice was tasty with pieces of dried scallops. The chicken was very tender with a nice ginger dipping sauce. The only thing to keep in mind is that the interior is that of a typical Chinese restaurant so the plates and cutlery are not the cleanest nor is the restaurant up-to-date. But the food is excellent and the service is pretty good as they switch out the plates when you accumulate too many crab shells.

Wow! I've never reviewed here. Fortune City has been one of the family favourites for over two decades. From dim sum to dinners. They have their followers. I have some family who like Kirin, Dynasty, Yue, Pink Pearl, and we make the stop here too.

Battled an auntie to pay and lost. Can't believe the server didn't tap my card! But it probably made sense for her business to take cash over card. Anyways, we got dim sum here for lunch on a Friday. I liked the XO rice cake, shrimp dumpling, and chicken rice. Not a huge fan of chicken feet myself but I had some not to be rude, and they weren't bad. There are so many Asian people in this restaurant so you know it's a good one.

Reliable family-friendly Chinese restaurant serving a variety of dishes on their menu including dim sum during lunch hours. Big portions for dim sum items. Located on the second floor of a plaza. Busy on weekends. Parking available.

Been coming here every Tuesday for the past month. It's pretty tasty. The service is usually pretty busy during mid day but tend to die down by 1pm~ish. Decor wise it's all pretty much the same idea as many Chinese restaurants. Congi is definitely one of my favourites on the menu. Along with the wings.

Everything is very very good here. Beef tendon is very soft. The chicken feet is strong

Food, in general, is not seasoned well enough. Seafood is cooked to the perfect doneness but the abalone tasted like cat food. Salt and pepper prawns have been sublime both times I've had them here.

Solid spot for dim sum in East Vancouver. Has a nostalgic feel to it. The food is pretty yummy and the portions are reasonable. You pick out the items you want on the sheet and they bring the items out steaming hot! My favorites are the scallop prawn dumplings, the siu mai and the beef rice rolls.

Fortune City seafood is always a reliable Cantonese restaurant. We've been frequenting them for many years, whether it's for dim sum, lunch, dinner or delivery, they're always fast, fresh and reasonable. Some of our favourite dishes includes their salt and pepper pork chops, their sautee shrimp with egg, ginger green onion beef hot pot, house special steam chicken, house special chow mien and so much more. It's hard to avoid Chinese restaurants using MSG, and I think they do a good balance of it. While I have nothing against MSG, I find some restaurants over use it to hide the inferior quality of their ingredients. Not the case with fortune city seafood. Service is very typical of Chinese restaurants, you have to get a server's attention if you want anything, but they do make the effort to provide special touches. One time we ordered way too many dishes and our table was cramped, after requesting for a bigger table, they helped us shift all our cutlery and dishes over. They will also ask if you would like the curtains down in the evening when the sun can be in your eyes. They also started doing discounted dishes for take out during COVID. They are now $18/dish, and they're great when you don't want to make dinner but still have a family to feed. Or if you want to just add a few extra dishes to your meal. Overall a great place to go for Chinese food and we've been enjoying our experience so far!

Affordable dim sum, great for gatherings, and generous portions are highlights of this establishment. The dim sum and Chinese dishes are on point but average in taste and are more quantity than quality.

No frills and worth the hype!…read more Our family of six arrived at 12 pm on a Tuesday. We waited approximately 25 minutes which is not bad at all considering how popular this small restaurant is. My mom is vegetarian and my girls had a wonton noodle soup lunch at another spot down the street. So we ordered a few things mainly for my dad, husband and myself: 1) Platter with barbecue pork and chicken (雙拼叉燒香油雞) 2) Half-order of roast duck (半隻脆皮燒鴨) 3) late of roast pork (燒肉) 4) Bowl of rice (一碗米飯) We cleared everything. The meats were juicy, tender, and flavorful. My girls are usually indifferent to Cantonese barbecued meats but they tried it and enjoyed everything as well. This is definitely a place to repeat if and when we revisit Vancouver.

This was my family and wife's first stop in Vancouver and frankly, nothing has topped it yet…read more You're getting some of the best HK BBQ possible. They ran out of duck but do not fret because the soya chicken is where it's at. The soya chicken is incredibly tender, even the breast meat is tender. Secondly, it's perfectly marinated and if you dab a little of their homemade soy sauce, it's even better. Eat this with rice and you'll never want another meal in your life. This was easily our favorite dish for the place. Bbq pork and crispy pork are both spot on as well. They give generous and juicy cuts and the crispy pork is, well, crispy. The skin is a nice crunch and the meat is juicy, what more could you ask for? I still salivate and dream of the meat here and I wish we had something like this back in LA cause I don't know who else would make soy chicken as good as here. Cash only so come prepared! If you're a US tourist, they take USD as well but canadian is still the better deal.

Hei Hei Rice Roll is legit good, totally recommend, even my daughter too, I thought of her ( since she LOVES rice roll and couldn't make it on this trip with me) while enjoying these roll but when I shared with her the photos and mention that we will go back here with her- she already visited. She said it was so good! Hei Hei Rice Roll is located at the Richmond Public Market, oh wow - this place is really popular, on the 2nd visit I was the first in line then the line wasn't so long but while waiting for our order, the line got super long. I was lucky I didn't wait long in line. Best to arrive early. I am not sure what the secret to the rice roll but Wow, it's so thin, silky, smooth texture with the toppings, so great together. The last 2 times we had rice roll with my daughter at Portland and Seattle- followed per Instagram reels- those did not even compare to these rolls. My first visit I got the combo which is the best deals, starts at $15.50 but depends on what you select for the selection for rice rolls and congee. I got the pork & preserved egg congee, shrimp, mushroom, pork rice roll. The 2nd visit I got the combo again, with liver & preserved egg congee, scallop and shrimp rice rolls, but I got my order wrong for the roll- they missed the shrimp. fyi-I found out that bean sprout, corn, toppings are free! Both combo came out to $17. super cheap! Cash only, they take USD but its the same dollar $ value. I wish they take credit cards, hehe. & the Verdict: Yummy, the congee hits the spot for comfort food, loved how it is cooked and they add peanuts too. Love the packet of sauce for the rice rolls, the umami-ness, so good. Best to eat it hot and fresh! Don't forget to ask for chili sauce, to add that extra spicy kick! For now, I am not sure I'll ever find a spot that is closest to Hei Hei for my congee and rice roll fix until I get to visit Richmond, BC again.
