    The Big Boss
    Sabrina S.

I had not been to a Fosters Freeze in more than a decade but I stopped in a couple of weeks ago she I was hungry while running errands. I ordered the Big Boss burger and an Oreo Twister. They were so delicious that I have been back 3 more times. So far I have only ordered the Big Boss, the Old Fashioned cheeseburger, Onion Rings and the Oreo Twister. I prefer the Big Boss over the Old Fashioned but everything I have had is a solid 5 stars. I need to branch out and try other things on the menu but I don't have a location near me so I can only dine here when I am running errands on this side of town - about 45 minutes from my home.

    Huge Flavor!

I do love me a good sunday. I could use some more buts but it was a great balance of fudge, nuts and whip cream. Trust me. I took my kid here for the first time. Sure, he is wasting his childhood with vanilla milkshakes and won't try other ice creams or flavors, but he did enjoy it thoroughly. They have a parking lot. Trust me. Not too much seating but sometimes that's how you meet people. Especially if you get the same thing as some stranger and then you wonder, what else do we have in common. The guy next to me had the same sunday and we were both currently trying to hack into the government's websites. So funny. I gotta try the texas toast ham and cheese next time I come here! Trust me

I got a burger and a peanut butter milkshake. The milkshake was the best peanut butter milkshake I have ever had! You order at the window and then you pick it up from the window. There are a couple of picnic tables in the shade where you can eat.

    Peanut butter twister so good

A little bit of a wait to place order but what can you expect when it's this good. Has cute tables outside where you can sit and enjoy your twister or soft serve. So good thank you

Pineapple sundae with hard shell chocolate! Delicious!!!

I've always had great service here. Plus, they make my sundaes the way I like them (hard shell chocolate) on top.

Root beer float with mug root beer

I wanted something cool on a hot summer day, and even though I haven't been to a fosters freeze in sooooo long. I'm glad to report it's still as good as I remember. I had the root beer float with root beer and my bf had the root beer float with Dr pepper. Both were good and had distinct flavors even though we both picked root beer drinks for our vanilla soft serve. It really hit the spot I'll be back again.

Honestly no complaints at all. The ice cream here is amazing especially the twisters. They don't cheap out with the ice cream. The chicken strips are always a must and the fries are great. Service for food is a little slow but it's worth the wait. Also, I wish they'd put a bit more toppings in the twisters. Other than that, top notch food and the staff is so nice. My new go to.

Came here last night for a Sunday treat, and Frosters Freeze was definitely that, a TREAT! We ordered... Medium Oreo Twister: 5/5 - Creamy, lots of Oreo cookie chunks, and pure deliciousness! Medium Mud Pie Twister: 5/5 - If you loooove chocolately chocolate madness, then this is the twister for you! Lol...I was surprised to taste coffee in here as well, so coffee lovers would also enjoy this great. Large Waffle Fries: 5/5 - HOT FRESH PIPING GOODNESS!!!!! My husband came back to the car, and the car was filled with the smell of fresh waffle fries! It was nice and crispy! Definitely my favorite part of the night :) Chocolate dipped Cone: 5/5 - Delicious vanilla ice cream dipped in hot fudge chocolate was perfect to start the night!! Once all the chocolate was gone I occasionally dipped my fries into the cone for the perfection combination of sweet and salty! Yummy! Overall, my family had an amazing experience! We will definitely be making this a Sunday Funday tradition! To Note: This place is located across from Chicken N Chips (for those familiar with the area) and has plenty of parking available. There are also several tables outside the establishment for you to kick back and enjoy your ice cream before you head back to the car.

Been going here since I was a little kid! Doesn't look all that much when you pass by it, but honestly my favorite place for classic desserts! I always come and get the caramel sundae never disappoints!

Note: I think it is more difficult to do walk ins now, so be prepared to fight for a reservation online instead WHAT WE'VE ORDERED IN THE PAST (* denotes personal favorite/would order again) APPETIZERS - Baby Albacore: nice bright dish to start the night! I really enjoyed the fried shallots on top. - *Cornbread: a must get! The chile helps cut the richness of the dish so it's not so one dimensional. Butter and honey -- what more can you ask for? - *Cherokee Tomato Caesar: I was surprised by this dish. Four tomatoes used are so delicious and meaty and the dressing coats it perfectly. The little anchovy in the center of the tomato adds to the savoriness of the dish. It's so simple, yet delicious. - *Carolina Gold Rice: a table favorite!! The seafood was abundant and everyone enjoyed each bite. The rice was al dente and not mushy at all, but helped meld all the flavors together. Everyone agreed we would reorder. MAIN - *Beef Ribeye: delicious. It's good to share because of the richness of the ribeye plus the bone marrow. I personally could not eat the whole ribeye by myself. Medium rare is the way to go. - *Mushroom Crusted Pork Chop: cooked well and was delicious! Not dry whatsoever. The crust on the pork chop was great. SIDES - *Dressed Lettuce: their salad which is a necessity to have vegetables at the table. The dressing is citrusy and bright, which helps cut the richness of the food. DESSERT - *Sticky Date Pudding: this does take some time to make since it's in a skillet. But when it comes out, it's so decadent with the ice cream. I tell myself that I'm healthy eating it since it's made with dates. - Chocolate Cake: dense, rich, dark chocolate, not too sweet. I love dark chocolate so I was a fan of this cake. We even got it to go and it still tasted good a few days after the meal. It's pretty dense for a cake and I really only need a few bites -- so its a nice way to end the meal. If 2-3 people: recommend 2-3 app/sides + 1 main protein If 4-5 people: 3-5 app/sides + 1 main protein I think it's a great celebratory meal. Everyone that I've come with has stated they would go come back -- especially since the menu does change seasonally. PARKING: street parking; there is usually some around the corner and down the block; no more than 5 minutes walking

Wanted to try this place because of all the good reviews. It was OK. Ate there on Saturday night…read moreafter securing a reservation. Something happened and when we arrived there was a mix up with the reservation so we ended up sitting in the bar for about 45 minutes. This place is extremely casual, think shorts, t shirts, and flip flops and you won't be out of place. Servers and bartenders all have the eagle rock/highland park grunge vibe. I went there with my wife and 2 teenage daughters. We started with the cornbread. I thought it was good (4/5) but with the amount of butter and honey anything would have been good. Wife didn't care for it, thought the buttermilk made it too sour. Just know that it's tiny. For the four of us, each had one bite. The menu for mains is pretty limited. Steak, swordfish, or porkchop. We ended up going with the steak, 2 swordfish, and then added the brown eyed peas, mashed potatoes, and then wanted to start off with the pork chile (which is really chile verde). The chile verde was the star of the night. If I ever went back, this is what I would order. Maybe it's because all the chef's are hispanic, but it was really good. They serve it with homemade tortillas and it was excellent. The steak is a large 2 pound bone in rib eye. I ordered it medium rare. It was more on the rare side, which i don't have a problem with, but the steak was a little tough. Not super tough but for $150 I definitely expected a little more "melt in your mouth" rather that fighting some pieces. Bone marrow was a nice touch. probably a 3/5. The fish was well cooked, not dry but the flavor was not amazing either. Hard to explain but the sauce was a little too sour. I like lemon on my fish but the sour almost made me think the fish was past it's prime. It wasn't, but the sauce didn't really highlight the fish. I shouldn't have ordered two and would skip this one next time. My least favorite and a 2/5 The sides were good. Mashed potatoes with garlic and butter, nothing special but good. Brown eyed peas were really just white beans. They were good, but not steal the show good. About a 3/5 For dessert we split the chocolate cake which was more like a muffin with a hazelnut whipped cream. Don't think of chocolate cake, think of it rather as a small piece of chocolate flavored loaf with no frosting or chocolate pieces. I liked it because I like things that are not very sweet but I was the only one that cared for it. Overall portions are fairly small. Between me, my wife, and two teenagers we ate everything. Total bill with tip was about $510. Pretty crazy when you think about it. Would I go back? Probably not but the ambiance was nice with the grill and real candles.

Already I'll be back again for a 3rd visit sometime soon. The staff were so friendly. Everyone who we interacted with, from the hostess to our waiter, were all just very friendly and it made us feel extremely welcomed into their restaurant. As for the food, everything was amazing. Probably can't go wrong with anything you order here. So far in my two visits to Yicha I've tried the following: 1. Bossam - ordered this both visits... truly amazing. First time having Bossam and it changed my life lol. The pork was cooked so perfectly.) 2. Bulgogi Burgers - wow. So good. The patty was juicy. The aoli was so tasty. Very filling. 3. Chicken Wings - also super good. Loved the "K-Ranch" sauce! The sauce was so good I even used it with the Bossam haha. 4. K-Town Nachos - I've never had nachos like this before! The crispy rice cakes were a unique take but really enjoying take on nachos. 5. Kongguksul - It's not something I would normally order as I'm not usually a fan of cold noodles, but since I was with a group and we ate family style it ended up on our list and I actually really liked it! First time I've enjoyed cold noodles. 6. Fuji Apple Eggrolls - Amazing. Never had any type of an egg roll dessert before. It was extremely flavorful and a great way to end our dinner.

(FYI - The cocktails are fantastic.) We sat at the bar so we could watch a World Cup match and ordered a few items to share: Loaded Kimchee Cheese Fries, Banchan of the Day, & Gochugaru Peanut Brittle. Since Chef Debbie Lee is famous for her Korean fried chicken wings my friend got the Gochu Buffalo Chicken Wings. The peanut brittle was made with soy & chili. It was slightly sweet with the right amount of savory. It was also addicting AF. The Banchan was marinated cucumbers. It was flavorful and tasty. The fries were perfectly cooked and topped with yummy goodness. They also went well with the K Ranch dressing that came with the wings. My friend said the wings were exceptionally good. We enjoyed our food down to the last bite and even had a chance to meet Chef Debbie.

Glassell Park is a hidden neighborhood in Los Angeles, anyway, and if you don't know what you are looking for, you might zip right past W&S, as we did. Parking is hit and miss, but there are side streets and you will find a space if you give yourself an extra 15 minutes before you come. The neighborhood is mysterious to me, sort of pricey grunge & hipster, iykwim. But! Once you are inside, you are in a completely different world. Bright, clean, genteel, muted, with dappled sunlight dripping through various apertures and alighting in a soft glow here and there on shining metal tables. It's beautiful. Some catchy upbeat contempo-pop music streamed steadily at just the right volume overhead. I found myself resisting the temptation to get up and dance. There are several rooms from which to choose, but I wanted to be seated on the wine-red suede banquette that gave me a view of the whole restaurant and out onto the tree-canopied street. From the time we arrived to the moment we left about an hour later, we were showered with warm smiles and attentive service. And the food? Exquisite. See my pictures. It was hard to choose. One tiny disappointment was they were out of the biscuits that I wanted to start with, but I enjoyed the crusty tender Clark Street bread slices served with warm creamery butter instead. It only got better from there. The two bowls we ordered were filled with fresh vegetables, cooked to perfection, topped with an egg prepared as we requested, i.e., over medium. The portions are modest and it was all so good, we didn't take anything home. We ordered coffee and were brought two tall steaming mugs of Americano, smooth, dark, and delicious. Best of all was the Lemon Lavender cake, a seasonal specialty. Honestly, it might be one of the best, moistest, most flavorful and elegant cakes I have ever had. So fantastic, that I just ordered some lavender buds (if I don't collect them from our garden) to replicate it at home. I don't drink much alcohol but if I did, I would head here for one of their experiences or tastings -- they have a formidable list. Check all this out. And hurry if you want to have Lemon Lavender cake.

Everyone also didn't feel particularly welcoming, from the hostess to the waitress (no smiles). Thankfully, we were seated outside for some fresh air, although the warm murky smell still lingered a bit outdoors. The menu seem fairly limited since nothing really stood out to me as especially exciting. I've studied the menu prior before going, and was only looking forward to their burger, but they didn't have it during dinner apparently. While the dishes were descripted very well on the menu, there was no depth in flavors. I'm talking about the pork belly, lamb chops, tartare, Spanish octopus, and especially the seasonal pasta. I'm happy that it wasn't overly salty, but overall the food tasted mediocre and felt a bit basic. I'm only saying this because I could make it myself, at least the lamb, fatty pork belly, and pasta. Portions were also on the small side. Service was a bit slower as it took some time to get seated and receive our food, and one of our dishes was forgotten until we reminded the staff after already finishing most of the meal. On the positive side, we were able to find easy street parking about a block away, and the restaurant itself has a cozy ambiance that would probably be great for a chill dinner with some wine. However, my group left still feeling very hungry and unsatisfied. To be fair, we came in hungry, and the portions and long wait didn't help.
