I really like this place. People want the prices to stay the same while bitching about the parking, crazy. If these people move to a bigger, better location their prices will go up. I like the "roll the dice" attitude that you really need to take when stepping into places like this....just put your big girl panties on and GO IN. $1.75 for a sandwich is worth the stop, though I haven't yet sampled too many other items yet. If you want better parking go elsewhere. If you want good prices and good food and you want to support a authentic, local grocer - stop in. I love this place for the filipino snacks and drinks. Just like home. They also sell deli foods such as tilapia, baboy and squid heads which are super good and chicken gizzards and possibly one of the best chicken wings. So good. They have asian sauces, ice creams and veggies here. They sell spring rolls, steamed peanuts, and desserts are delivered fresh every day such as karioka, turon and bilo bilo... Ah, it's making me hungry as I talk about it. The only down side to this place is the space. It gets super crowded and annoying with people squeezing past one another and such. Overall, I don't go here too often because of that reason, unless I have a really big crave for something and my parents don't bring it to me. haha. Fou Lee Market is a Filipino market on Beacon Hill that has small, deli-style takeout window. I got the 2 plate combo with pork adobo & the menudo. The menudo was good, but the adobo was inedible. It was drier than beef jerky. I had to use a lot of force just to pull it apart. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt though and give them another shot some other time. read more

Give Foulee some love guys, I'm sure they've been suffering since Seafood City opened and all the Filipinos migrated south.. But my two lil' Filipino aunties have been shopping here for years and has been our go to spot for cheap persimmons and beef tripe. It's funny, I definitely feel like I'm in the Philippines there, from the Sarsi soda stocked from floor to ceiling and the hundreds of different kinds of bagoong to the whitening cream in the toiletry aisle. When we're paying the nice Vietnamese woman at the counter, she refers to my aunt as "Ate" and thanks her in Tagalog! * I really hope they survive the loss of many of their long-time customers to SC. ** Get over the parking situation. Why are there negative reviews on this place? Seriously. Why? I don't come here expecting the same shopping experience as other popular grocery stores. Think about Foulee as more of a specialty Filipino store. I mainly come here to buy hot foods (lechon, pancit, banana lumpia...oh my!), seasoning packets for soups and adobo, goldilocks items (if you don't know what I'm talking about...Google it!), and snacks. This is a really good neighborhood market. They specialize in groceries to Asians, mostly Filipinos. They also have a deli which caters Filipino food like lechon, fish, garlic shrimp, lumpia and various entrees. This is the only place where we order fried smelt for parties (Filipino fries) you can get a who tray for $40! My wife goes there to get her cascaron/carioca fix. I've been shopping here since they first opened and they have improved their store a lot over the years. What is a Chinese grocery store has since accommodated to their Filipino customers. Here, I buy my packs of tocino and longanisa. You get so much more for the same price you'd pay for only 8 longanisas by Espi's. Stopped in here today for a snack and to look around. Parking is tricking so plan when you go as it could be difficult to find parking. Lots of variety for snacks, cookies and candies. Dry and canned/jarred goods are higher priced. Veggies and meat are reasonably priced. small selection of frozen food. I always wanted to visit this market after hearing about it from a song from the Blue Scholars. When I got here, it was definitely an older style market. It's not like those typical warehouse markets that you see, but rather a good ol' Ma n Pa style where the prices are affordable and the amount of Filipino goods available are great. They also have a area where they sell food items are a decent price. I'm from california so seeing a Filipino based market is awesome. The service is good at Fou Lee, and the female cashier is there is quite remarkable in that she can speak many languages and she'll say hi to you in your native tongue when you're ready to check out. Fou Lee is a smaller but power-packed grocery store in South Seattle that effectively accomodates the needs of it's diverse customer base.
