Meh. Hubs and I went here for lunch on Friday. Ambience is nice and great location to our house in Cedar Park. We had the tuna tartare for an appetizer and it was nice. Hubs loved his Cuban sandwich. But I had the grilled cheese from hell. It was described as bacon, tomato, cheddar, fontina and swarvoy (or similar- a cheese is never heard of). What CAME was basically herb cream cheese with the other non- cheese ingredients slapped onto really oily bread w some unremarkable, unnecessarily fried pickles on the side. Apparently, they mix aioli into the cheese, resulting in goop instead of the nice, gooey texture one wants from a grilled cheese. The kettle chips were WAY over seasoned. I MIGHT go back since it's close and try something else... But maybe not. read more

This has been on my list for a while but this would be considered a sometimes/special occasions restaurant for me or happy hour since the prices a little more affordable for me. This is a great farm to table place with great and locally sourced ingredients. Happy hour is how I ended up here. I was meeting a group of girlfriends and we were going to check out there Social Hour aka Happy Hour. The place is modern decor with a little swankiness but still has a nice chill atmosphere. Having been out so much in Austin it was a bit of suburbia shock coming here. It's not a bad thing but just a very different crowd being in Cedar Park. I was the first one there and settled in a booth. For Social Hour there's a special on Wine, Cocktails and Beer. The Foxy Mule caught my eye. It was mix of two of my favorite things Moscow Mule with St Germain and a Serrano Pepper for a little kick. It was served in a copper mug which I was super stoked about. This was a great refreshing drink. St Germain is one of my favorites so it added a nice twist the traditional Moscow Mule. When the ladies got there we literally ordered one of everything on the Social Hour menu. There was four of us and we were all up for sharing and trying out lots of things. Texas Bibb - farm tomato, onion, gorgonzola, crisp bacon, buttermilk blue cheese This is a great salad. A modern twist on the wedge salad. All great fresh ingredients and who doesn't love crispy bacon and gorgonzola. Fork & Knife Onion Ring - srirachannaise, house made balsamic ketchup This is no joke. These onion rings are ginormous! You really do need your fork and knife. These were nicely fried in a light batter. Almost tempura like. Grilled Tomato Wild Flatbread - mozzarella, provolone, fresh basil, garlic, olive oil Grilled Meat Connoisseur Flatbread - beef tenderloin, bacon, pepperoni, mozzarella, provolone, hearty marinara These were like pizzas and both excellent. Again really great fresh ingredients. I loved that the pepperoni and bacon got really crispy on the flatbread. Marinara was hearty and it tied it all together. House Burger - ground blend of brisket, chuck, sharp cheddar, bibb, farm tomato, onion, pickle, served with house-made kettle chips This is what a burger should taste like. This was split four ways so we each got a taste. The burger was moist and the cheese was a great addition. Everything matched so well. Even the kettle chips were great. Skillet Venison Sliders - open faced, pickled jalapeños, carrots, jalapeño gravy This was a bonus order. We wanted to try one more thing so we went for it. I'm not a huge fan or exotic or game meats but I had to try. I don't know how else to describe venison but it's a tougher meat. Not that it's a bad thing it's just gamier. This was like chicken friend steak on sliders with gravy. It was so good. Jalapeno gravy was great. Cream gravy with a little kick. One of the best parts of this whole experience was our server. I should have written this review earlier so that I could remember his name but he was absolutely fantastic. I think his name was Preston...He was so attentive and very friendly. He came in to check on us regularly, we always had drinks and water. One of my friends that was with us that frequents this place said that he had been her server a couple of times and he was absolutely wonderful. It's nice to know that there's a really great quality restaurants in the suburbs among all the chains and ordinary food places. Had the Crisped Brussels Sprouts which did not disappoint. Delightfully crispy on the outside and cooked all the way through (which is surprisingly hard to find and I've ordered Brussels Sprouts all over town). The star of the dinner was the Lamb Shank. How they make the lamb so fall-off-the-bone tender I'll never know. So good, I find myself daydreaming about it! My daughter had the Lobster Mac & Cheese and my husband had the filet. They also loved their entrees. There were about 5 minutes of silence where we were all savoring the meal. A little pricey, sure, but I'm lactose intolerant and finding a delicious, filling, dairy-free meal is a challenge. We nixed the cheese on the Sprouts and my entree was completely dairy free! To top it all off, our server was very engaging, super polite, and on-point with our orders. We will definitely be back soon! read more

By Yelp stars rating descriptions, this place is A-OK. Randomly saw the huge sign while heading to Target last week and thought we'd give it a try for date night. The place is casual, which pleased us due to our laid back attire. We were seated at the two seater, small table/booth combo. The booth seating side is up a bit higher which made me feel like I was taller than J who sat across from me. We started with the Slap fries.... All seven of them. $7 for fries made me want to slap us both for wasting the money. The Sriracha hot sauce and mayonnaise dipping sauce was good but nothing warranted the $1 per fry price tag. For dinner, J had the Seared Tuna with the spinach and wasabi mashed potatoes. Those wasabi potatoes were quite tasty. I decided on the grilled tenderloin which was also good. They had an okra appetizer last time I was there that was crazy good! They do change their drinks menu periodically, so don't get too attached to something there, unless you are smart enough to take a pic of the drink for future reference. I wanted to like this place. It reminded me a lot of Jack Allen's. Locally sourced food. Made from scratch kitchen. The food was OK. Just not great. And for the dinner prices, I was a little underwhelmed. My salmon was dry. I think it may have been sitting waiting while my husband's chicken was being cooked. His chicken was OK, if a little bland and boring. The appetizer of Brussel sprouts was good, but for $12, again- underwhelmed. The dessert menu didn't boast anything that grabbed my attention, but it was still $70 to get out of there. No drinks, no desserts. I'm sorry to say I don't think we'll be back. This place is like Cheers, where everybody knows your name. My husband and I love going here to eat, drink and have fun conversations with the bartenders. We moved to Austin about a year and a half ago and Fox Hole was one of the first places we found. We have been frequent visitors ever since. The food is always amazing, you can't go wrong. You most defiantly have to try the upside down pineapple cake! They have a great selection of whiskey and bourbons if they tickle your fancy like my husband but I particularly love the Dirty Texan cause it's served with a blue cheese olive. There are only about 12 or 14 seats at the bar but they are worth waiting for a seat because the bartenders make it worth while. I have to give it to all the bartenders for always treating us so well and always giving us a great laugh. It's definitely a place that helps take our mind off of work or worries and enjoy our time there. High five to the best staff, Cade, Kelly, Mario, Liz and Payton for always making us feel welcome. I brought my husband with me for Keri B's happy hour tonight and we had so much fun!!! They are not playing around here with the drinks. Two were more than enough for me. My first was the French 75. It was a champagne citrus cocktail with a lemon twist. It tasted like a highly refreshing spiked lemonade. I then got their seasonal mojito with grapefruit. I'm not a fan of grapefruit usually but holy crap was it good! Foxhole, I adore your bartenders. My husband knocked back a few beers and the ones I tried were amaze balls. We didn't order food while we were there but others at the table did and out of everything I saw, it all looked delicious. Their onion rings especially. Fellow Siracha lovers, you will enjoy the dipping sauce. I would come back again in a heartbeat. Good drinks, yummy looking food, awesome crew. It's pricy but happy hour is very reasonable. Went last night for an Easter dinner as I had just flown back into town from work and didn't feel like cooking. I have always had an excellent experience here and last night was no different, in fact last night I would say was our best experience thus far. It probably helped that it was not crowed at all due to the holiday but everything was excellent. The service best we've had I'll get to that later, the food stellar as always, and the drinks were awesome. My wife and I had our staple appetizer here, the calamari with the chipotle sauce. We also had a small plate of the bacon wrapped quail, it was phenomenal. For the main course my wife had the porterhouse pork chop and I had the 12oz beef tenderloin. The pork chop was excellent I stole some of it from wife, the bourbon glaze was sweet but not overpowering as you could still taste the natural flavors of the chop. The tenderloin was cooked to a perfect medium rare, the way I requested and was seasoned perfectly. The sides on both plates were awesome as always, the smashed potatoes and the mixed vegetables are always an excellent compliment on any plate we get them on. The only issue we had was the dessert the apple cobbler wasn't exactly what we were expecting, I loved the concept we just wish the sauce was a little thicker. The drinks were awesome as always, my wife got her Moscato d'Asti as usual and I tried something different from my typical Captain and Coke. I got the Bearcat custom cocktail on a suggestion from our waiter. Bearcat republic reposado, blackberries, serranos, chambord, lime, topped with seltzer. The taste was something else, even my wife liked it and she's extremely picky when it comes to drinks. It was a pallet pleaser for sure, it was sweet, bitter, and spicy all it once. Now when I say spicy I don't mean like your drinking a bottle of tabasco sauce. All the flavors perfectly complimented each other. If I were to stray from my Captain and Coke again this would most definitely be the cocktail I would cheat on it with. Lastly, the service we got last night was by far the best we've had since we've been coming here. Ethan was a cool dude, he answered all of our questions and made suggestions. He was always smiling and he was more than a yes sir no ma'am waiter, he would hold conversation and explain the dishes and drinks. He didn't have a dry personality and you didn't feel like you were troubling him. Most definitely be asking for one of his tables the next time we go in. For the most part I like this place great atmosphere good service staff seems to care about the product they put out. The only issue I have with this place is most recently I ordered the scallop risotto dish and it was a little unimpressed. Now the presentation was beautiful the consistency of the risotto was perfection. But when it came to the scallops they seem to have a little more of a scent and I would prefer seafood to have. I also noticed a bit of grit when eating the scallops I don't know if this was due to fresh cracked pepper and/or sand. I was never really able to come to a decision on what exactly the issue was it may have been seasoning and if so I hope they do change that. When I have scallops I prefer them warm buttery &!delicious I am very off put by strange crunchiness that I feel that shouldn't be there. Keep in mind I have dined here a few times I've loved each and everything presented to me so this might've just been that one dish that's not their best. Everything else I've ordered I've thoroughly enjoyed and I would return but just not order the risotto dish. Since I have had good experiences with this restaurant in the past I will still recommend it to my friends and family. On a side note I did have a beautiful the moscato and I have to say it's one of the ones that would make me come back time and again. And the best part about cocktails and wine during happy hour you get a couple dollars off the price. This place is visually beautiful, however, I can't understand all the positive reviews for their food. To me, it's like an overpriced, upscale "casual dining" chain. Before you go by my comments, stop and look at the photos of the food. They all look beautiful, yet if you pay attention to the details you'll notice: - about 6 french fries in a metal cup with the burgers - lots of gravy covering some dishes up - lots of other sauces hiding the ingredients of other dishes We ordered a "caesar" salad. It wasn't. What it was instead was using beautiful romaine as a set of horizontal "boats" for an overwhelming amount of cream sauce. Re: burgers. I was surprised to taste a slab of ice cold tomato and iceberg lettuce sitting on top of nicely sautéed mushrooms. I'm guessing someone didn't get the memo that you offer the cold toppings on the side, not slammed down on top of the warm goodness of meat and mushroom. In the end, I walked away feeling like this was the best food this side of OK City. I also discovered that neither the waiter nor the manager on duty were trained in how to handle disappointed customers. In fact, the manager said it was my fault for not alerting her earlier in the meal! I don't know about you, but if the service is already very slow, it's hard to believe having the same waiter take it back to the kitchen will result in better quality I declined the gift card she offered me as i won't be going back read more

Yay; so happy this place is close to home. However I am now faced with the decision of "Do we go to Foxhole or Jack Allen's?". Decisions, decisions... We really enjoyed this place. Anytime I can get a blue cheese stuffed olive in my martini, I'm a happier man. Also, I got an Old Fashioned, which I love, and it was probably the best one I've had in Austin. The atmosphere is really cool and not indicitive of what else is around there. By that I mean it doesn't feel like a chain restaurant. Our party ordered the Brussel Sprout app (OH MY GOD, get this), Burger (couldn't tell a difference in the Kobe vs grass fed beef but still great), Texas Redfish (wonderful and the crab meat was fresh), and the Filet (better than Flemmings, which is supposed to be a steakhouse). Not a bad piece of food on the table. I'm hopeful this place will do well, and I will certainly keep coming back. Hopefully they will keep the food standards high over the years to come because it isn't cheap, and at these prices in the suburbs, you can't afford to slack on quality. read more

They make a drink here called "good juju" which I highly recommend! This was a place that we sort of stumbled upon during our rainy week visiting Texas for the first time. They were having a happy hour, as luck would have it when we walked in and it included half-price oysters. Being a huge fan, we ordered two dozen! They were fabulous! The drink, however, was so good that I came back the next day for another! On the next trip we ordered oysters again and unfortunately, they weren't as good the second time, but that could have been a fluke. The nice thing though, is that when we mentioned it to the server, he mentioned it to his manager who came out to talk to us and offered us a free appetizer if we came back as well as discounted the oysters. Been here 3 times now, so I feel I can put out something fair. Brunch is very good I think and overall service it excellent. Wait staff is attentive and friendly, they do check in on a fairly good basis, which I like. However, dinner experiences have been mixed. The last visit was extremely underwhelming and it seems there is some inconsistencies in their kitchen when it comes to execution of their meats. We ordered the lamb chop small plate and while it was grilled nicely and was well presented, it was the most boring, bland piece of meat I had ever eaten. Absolutely no seasoning with the exception of a few dots of sauce scattered around the plate for you to wipe up like an Easter egg hunt. If you are emphasizing the sauce for the meat then give more sauce, otherwise season better. Ordered the "pan-seared" halibut, so of course I was very confused when the piece of fish came out looking pasty white on top and bottom. BAKED...clearly not pan seared. If it were, then that would a different issue :). Again, no seasoning at all. For an entree over $30 you should at least expect it to be cooked according to the description! See picture :) So the waiter checked in on us and we informed her of the food and she apologized and asked if we wanted to speak to the manager. She did the right thing so no foul on her part, but I'm thinking they lack consistency. read more

We were seated immediately (judging by the number of cars outside, I assumed there would be a wait). We then waited about 8 minutes until someone asked if we had been served yet. We were told we've have waters shortly and our waitress would get our drink orders. 5 minutes later, our waitress got our drink orders. We ended up not getting waters until after our alcoholic drinks arrived. We ordered 2 appetizers and decided to split the lobster mac and cheese. The appetizers we got were the onion rings (husband's pick) and the crispy brussel sprouts (mine). I think he was expecting thin onion rings but they were your run of the mill sports bar type onion rings. The thing that made them special was the dipping sauce. The brussel sprouts were delicious as was the lobster mac and cheese. I'm chalking up the slow service up to the kinks not all being worked out yet, which I completely understand - especially with how busy this place seems every day. This place is great. It's also an indicator the up and coming Lake Creek area is turning into something new and a lot of fun! The first time here I just ordered some drinks and watched sports. The second time I decided to try the food, and was glad I did! Everything on the menu is very creative and different than the usual wings, burgers, fried pickles, etc. How about a Grilled Caesar with roasted corn pico, avocado, and croutons? Yeah, that was pretty incredible. Or how about the pork belly street tacos? Those were pretty amazing as well. The drink prices are acceptable and there is also a good happy hour, I believe they play live music some nights, and the staff is friendly, nice, professional, social, and very attentive. Overall this place is a hit, and the decor is a fresh change from the more "family friendly"cookie cutter restaurants. WOW! The Foxhole really is incredible. We have been for brunch and dinner...both experiences have been amazing! The food is on point, the cocktails and drinks offered are delicious! The brunch cocktails in particular are different and super yummy! The wait staff is always friendly and helpful. We always get great recommendations and are taken care of to the highest standard. The ONLY critique I could give is that both times we have been there they have been out of the pickle beer, which we REALLY want to try! Love this place! All three words in their name makes me excited to dine here. The exterior and interior is something new and something modern, and everything seems to point towards us getting a fresh perspective of traditional dishes. And what better opportunity to get those perspectives than brunch? From before we even walked in to resisting the food coma on the drive home, we got something that'll be in my mind for a while. For drinks we got the Mimosa flight. Three mimosas that you can pick out the juice you want for each one. I forgot which ones we got but they were all pretty tasty. The two of us aren't veteran drinkers, so there was an almost illegal amount of mimosas left over. The shame. The Deviled Eggs came next. A crunchy bite from the fried exterior and a creamy texture combined with the savory flavor from the crawfish is just heavenly. This may have been the best dish of the meal; definitely recommend. We both ordered their skillets: the Tejas and Louisiana. The Louisiana was mine so I can speak more to it. Dishes like these skillets tend to be saturated in cheese which makes it way too heavy and results in me just getting sick of it after five bites. These skillets use less of the cheese. The flavor is still there, all the components of the dish blended well together, and I enjoyed every last bite. Everything in the skillet was something I liked and it was cooked very well. Not too salty and definitely enough food. I only wish that the crawfish were bigger. They were tiny and didn't feel like the star of the dish at all. The few bites I had of the Tejas skillet were pretty good as well. Like the crawfish, there could've been more pork belly as well. Service was excellent, and we left already wanting to come back. Came here on a Tuesday evening after reading good reviews on Yelp. The service was great, but the food was very disappointing, and certainly way overpriced for the level of quality. For starters, I ordered the quail appetizer and the short rib Mac and cheese. The quail appetizer was decent, but had almost no quail in it. For $18, I didn't realize I was paying for 5 pieces of soft cheese wrapped in bacon. As for the Mac, it was just bad. The consistency was very soupy, and the short ribs tasted like leftovers that were added in as a last minute ditch effort to not waste food. The mini onions were a strange addition that tasted out of place. Then we got some desert. The creme brule was decent, but nothing out of the ordinary. The chocolate cake came out cold in the center so I had to send it back. And the coffee was watered down, so I had to order espresso instead. All in all, the food was not good and the only reason I'm not giving it one star is because the waitress was very nice. read more

But a touch too complicated The appetizer we got was fried calamari and it was cooked to perfection, and absolutely amazing. Could be more per serving I got the duck, my date the chicken The duck was amazing. I devoured it in minutes. The chef recommended medium rare, I said medium. I know it was medium rare but it was amazing The chicken was also amazing. The habanero was real and just perfect to give you the burn The staff was amazing. All tvs were on ESPN and it was on a halftime report. I asked if the one at the bar could be changed to CBS. Yes, but the manager ran to the bank and he was the only one with the code to change it. Waited 15 minutes, got up and left. Game was over. You can't give the code to one other employee there to change a tv channel? Really? Won't be back based on this experience. Every time we go in there they are having some kind of issue. They are either out of several kinds of food or, like on Valentine's Day this year, they didn't have ANY draft beer. Oh. My. God. How have I not heard of this place before? As a self proclaimed foodie, I am so disappointed that I haven't been here sooner. I have let myself down. Tonight, we are 3 for 3! Ladies and gents -- it's official -- I have found my new favorite restaurant. Service was amazing (thanks, Solomon!), food came out in good timing, and most importantly, the dishes were DIVINE. Stuffed Lockhart Quail Breast - Great mix of flavors with the cream cheese, peppers and bacon -- the contrasting jelly was the perfect compliment. Lamb Lollipops - Super tender meat with a kick of spice. Cooked to perfection and the right temperature. Texas Redfish - Fish wasn't dry and the dirty rice was amazing. Best brunch north of downtown. Actually prefer FCT over a lot of places. Waaaaay better than culinary dropout or anything at the Domain. Way better than Jack Allen's... You know what, scratch that, Foxhole is probably my favorite brunch spot. It's neck and neck w Fonda San Miguel's, but Fonda is a buffet. Absolutely a great experience with tasty food. I'm so happy I'm writing the review before our banana bread pudding is coming and my girl friend is mad because I'm beating her to the yelp review. Best part of my meal so far was the lamb braised on the bone with succulent sauce and great veggies and mashed potatoes. So good I was eating the last few bits straight off the bone. read more
