So happy the COVID-19 demon did not sweep Frank's/Francisco's up and make the place a casualty of these times. This small Tucson staple survives! Stopped for lunch the other day and sat out on the patio keeping our distance from other diners. I had a green chile cheeseburger with fries, the hubs had a bacon cheeseburger with seasoned fries and a cup of Hector's Chile. Burgers were delicious as was the chile (we dumped it over the regular fries for some chile cheese fries). The green chile on my my burger was not hot but very flavorful. I like spice so it was suggested that I get some of Frank's salsa. I put that on my burger instead of mayo or any other condiment and it absolutely MADE my burger! Service was friendly, thorough and timely. Love this place! I'm a HUGE breakfast cafe junkie! Sure I've been to Frank's, many many many years ago but with it being a little farther away from me, I always forget about it. We decided to stop in one morning and I remembered how cute it is! I couldn't help but to just keep looking at everything on the walls. Probably about 12-18 spots inside and about 6 tables outside. Everyone was super friendly and nice. Small parking lot, but with the closed down gas station next door, there is plenty of parking :) The bathroom is a 1-potter and super small and you may have to step over a few people to get to it but it's at least INSIDE the building. I've noticed a lot of little cafes have their bathrooms outside. Food was delicious and perfect on the prices. I have to remember this place is here and come more often! read more

On the negative side, the corned beef hash was blah and the side of blueberries really bad. The bathroom was unpleasant and the place needs some serious degreasing. I have no idea how I have managed to live in Tucson since 2015 and not known about this place. It's fantastic! The food was delicious and fast. The prices are reasonable. The entire staff is great. Pam was our server and was so responsive and helpful and smiling. The guy with the fun, curly pony tail was highly pleasant. He sat us and gave us menus and brought my credit card back to me after it was run. The guy at the grill was amazing and cooked my food perfectly. This is a greasy spoon, 100%, but it sets itself apart from your retail chains in all departments. An eccentric mix of Michoacán Mexican and American breakfast, leave your expectations at the door and follow your senses. The staff is extremely friendly and courteous, the food fresh off the grill, and the Frills are to be found elsewhere... Flavorful, rich, greasy, cheesey, and spicy, I found the cure for my Sunday morning hangover and I'm curious to explore the rest of the menu. Expect longer waits on the weekends, but service is fast and friendly. The servers are always smiling and Frank himself (that is Frank, right?) sings along with the radio while he pours your coffee. *EDIT: I've been told that chipper crooner is Marshall, so kudos to him! I ordered Geoff's Special. The portions are large no matter what you order. Eggs and hash browns cooked nicely, and what they call 1/2 biscuit and gravy was definitely a full-sized portion for me. The pancakes and french toast are also top notch. Most of the menu is simple stuff you can make at home. The menus are part of the table covering - smart! And the prices are low, low, low! My husband and I opted for "expensive" dishes. He chose the Eric burrito with chorizo - scrambled eggs with chorizo, chili sauce, cheese, and refried beans in a fresh tortilla. It was a knife and fork burrito, and it was delicious! I chose the chicken fried steak and eggs (soft scramble was perfectly prepared), hashbrowns, and white toast. The toast has visible butter (maybe margarine, but I didn't care because it was good!). The chicken fried steak was perfect, with real gravy - no packaged stuff here. Heavenly! The menu prices are low and kind of funny. $2.20, $4.19, $10.40, etc. Low! There is a weekday special if you arrive before 9:00 am, and I think it was $2.25. Eggs, a breakfast meat, potatoes, and a bread product (including fresh biscuits!). Totally affordable. This is a no frills breakfast / lunch spot, and it is marvelous!!!!! So, don't keep driving by places thinking that you should go there. Stop, and enjoy those cute, local restaurants!!!! read more

I searched Yelp for anything four stars and above for lunch Wednesday in the neighborhood by the Botanical Gardens. I chose Frank's because they were primarily a breakfast place and my granddaughter loves breakfast sausage. At a little after 11 o'clock the place was reasonably full which is always a good sign. If I only see a couple of cars parked I generally steer clear of a place but this was not the case at Frank's. The car in front of me pulled in and the car behind me followed me into the parking lot so I figured I was on to something. The decor was hodgepodge. Even the sign out front said "elegant dining elsewhere." When you want good food and fair prices, the decor doesn't matter. What struck me first though was how clean the place was and for an older place too. It was obvious they kept this place clean right down to the syrup bottle on the table. That syrup bottle looked brand new and had no drippings anywhere on it. I challenge you to find one like it at a famous waffle chain. She had a pancake and a side of sausage. I was surprised to see the shape of the pancake in a famous Disney character (see photo) and decorated with butter placement. She loved it so much she didn't want to eat it at first but she eventually ate the nose and all of one ear, lol. She would never be able to finish the whole thing even at her most hungry. I had the hot ham n cheese with home fries. The sandwich was so good I could have ate a second one. The tomato and hoagie bun were very fresh. The tomato was ripe too not hard like you get at fast food chains. I now have a new favorite place to go in this neighborhood. read more
