Never thought of I would have a great time in an alcohol free environment with stand up comedy. I had a blast with vegetarian appetizers and mocktails for about 3 hours. Loved the talent and felt good, food was healthy for me The vermouth mocktail was tasty but my "beer "was not great/other than that, would love to come back In between sets, waitstaff would quickly pop in to make sure everything was ok.

There are some aspects of this place that are unique and well done. Although not in an busy area of Alhambra and with hard to find parking, I love that there are so many activities and makes for a place that is very easy to be a regular hang out spot. The service was also very accommodating, we had a group of almost 10 playing several rounds of mahjong and made for a fun experience. Regarding food and drinks, I'm sure it is difficult having only mocktails and mostly vegan options, but they were able to add chicken to my black garlic pasta which I appreciate. Unfortunately, I was still not a fan of the pasta as the chicken was dry and the seasoning and flavors were not distributed evenly throughout and made for some bland bites, and also I did not feel it was worth the price. I will not be back for the food, but I appreciate the passion and creativity this place offers, and I would be interested in the other activities such as trivia or comedy nights in the future.

This is the first I've heard of a real life mocktail bar. They serve drinks with no alcohol! I recommend checking out the menus on their website. It's easier to read and has pictures. They are categorized by flavor profile. I tried 2-3 drinks, and they all tasted good. I tried a couple bites of the "calamari" (fried mushroom) and caprese. All the food here is vegan, and I wasn't very impressed with the two that I ordered already. I wouldn't order food again here. They've been hosting many community events, so I love that for them.

Chill vibe! Cool front door enter by pressing handicap tab. Nice dark booth. Owners are tge server & bartender. Had live singer guitarist. Saw a band setting up for later. Our Scallops were really mushrooms it cooked my husband. But he felt fooled when bill came and realized there were up charges to add crustini and truffles$!$ Garluc string beans were delicious but we were still hungry so asked for rice to eat up the garlic sauce. Drinks forgot the names but we liked the orange one better!! There's games you cZn pickup and play with we played connect four. Guess we're not the vegan nonalcoholic types! Might pop in for Thursday mahjongs...

Such a wonderful, unique place! My friend had a birthday hang out here. I'm not from the area but it was worth the drive to Alhambra. The atmosphere is AMAZING. Vintage, old school Italian vibes with a gothic twist (wrought iron, flickering lamps, chandeliers and floating candles, comfy booths, velvet portraits)... it's really a cool place; casual, comfortable and classy. I do like a cocktail now and then, but I was impressed with their alcohol-free drinks (which is all they serve - no alcohol). Every drink on the menu was complex with unique ingredients and looked really cool, and the two drinks I had (especially the second one "Moon and Stars") were delicious. It was nice to have a fancy drink without worrying about feeling hung over the next day or breaking the bank. The owners were SO nice and they clearly care about what they do. The food was also super tasty! Worth checking out if you have anyone in your party who's sober and/or if you just want to have that cozy "bar vibe" without being in a loud place full of drunks!

I came for their Kpop Demon Hunters trivia night! It was lots of fun and I loved the owners, food, drinks and restaurant. I hope they're able to stay in business, because it's a wonderful place, and they have such heart and care for their community. I'm lactose intolerant and allergic to onions, and they took excellent care of me. I really enjoyed the creamy pasta that had no dairy. I wouldn't have known if I'd tasted it blind. I also hate the taste of alcohol, so getting to choose from so many neat mocktails was so fun! Arleo, the mixologist and one of the owners, even made drinks for each of the demon hunters! I got the Rumi, it was sweet but also had a smoky, warming quality. Great choice based on her character. Also tried the Very Magical Cat, a nice fruity drink with pretty colors. The bone marrow appetizer was my favorite! So flavorful and savory. I enjoyed the tofu cheesecake too. Good texture, though I could have used more sweetness. Thank you so much Amber for being so hospitable and for delicious food! It was fun singing with you too. I'll be coming back asap because this month might be their last. I hope not, because as the grand daughter of restaurant owners, it hurts my heart so see great businesses close down. Times are so difficult, and it's made the tough restaurant business even harder.

We first learned about Free-Spirited Lounge via a mahjong event hosted here. Our obsession with mahjong aside, my husband doesn't drink alcohol and I am prediabetic (despite my sweet tooth) so we love that Free Spirited Lounge exists. They serve amazing alcohol-free cocktails (with available-sugar-free options!) and meals that accommodate a range of dietary needs including vegan and halal. Drinks-wise, so far we've had the Quarantine Heart, Daily Flip, Hero of Hyrule, Moon & Stars, Green Moissanite, and Nueva Ecija. Next to try: Scooter SSR, Very Magical Cat.... Basically, I want to try all the cocktails. Most impressive of all is that only two people run this place and do everything. What used to be a çonquistador-themed Mexican restaurant still has that old-school vibe but is now a cozy and accessible space for games and music events, or just to hang out with friends. (I see dogs are welcome too!) This is such a hidden gem that more people need to know about, because they deserve more business to survive. Note: they are only open 4 nights a week for a few hours.

Love the vibe, it's almost like a hidden speakeasy. The place has a mostly vegan menu and non-alcoholic drinks! (But they also have halal chicken for omnivores!) If you're looking for an alcohol free third space to hang out in the evening, this place is great. They also have fun events like mahjong nights hosted by different people! Also if you get their very cute mocktails, you can add a shot of dopabeam for two bucks if you want to feel a light buzz naturally.

Late twenties. For me, someone who's been done with school for (more than) a couple years now, this is a hard time to meet new people. In my quest to find new "third spaces," I happened upon Common Ground, a mahjong group hosting events around the 626 area. One of these events, "Free Spirited Mahjong," has been recurring on Thursdays at Free Spirited, a sober and (mostly) vegan craft cocktail lounge. The inside is quaint and cozy. Plush booths and tables with swanky armchairs were each stationed with a mahjong set. The bar was especially magical, and, in contrast to the lounge's warm, ambient lighting, was illuminated by a faint otherworldly glow.  Our bartender, Arleo, was very nice. I liked listening to him explain the drinks and the virgin spirits that he brewed himself. As a fledgling mixologist, one of the reasons I wanted to come was to learn more about mocktails, and listening to Arleo was enlightening, productive, and fun. My first drink of the night was the Very Magical Cat, which caught my attention online because of its eye-catching colors. The flavor profile was delicious - sweet and floral. I love anything with passionfruit, and I can never resist a butterfly peaflower moment.  Next, I had The Initiative, a very creative and nerdy cocktail with a Dungeons and Dragons concept. The base of this mocktail is a bitter red cordial, used to substitute aperitifs such as Aperol or Campari. Citrus is added from calamansi and bubbles from hopwater. The most interesting part of this drink, however, is the sweetener, or more specifically, the method by which you choose your sweetener. Arleo will hand you a D20 dice. It lit up when it touched my hands! Your roll will determine what kind of sweetener is used in your drink. I rolled a 2, which got me aquafaba (not very sweet, but anything under 10 will get you something not very sweet). Arleo whipped up my drink and served it to me in a copper mug. Refreshing and hoppy. I'm tempted to revisit just so that I can roll again. My friends really enjoyed their drinks as well. Our collective favorite drink was the Butterbeer. It was sweet like honey, and almost tasted like cider to me. I had a lovely time at Free Spirited, and would definitely come back. The drinks were delicious, and everyone got to enjoy them without having to worry about having a designated driver. The craftsmanship put into these drinks was just as, if not more, exquisite as that of a cocktail. And, they're very affordable. If anything, I feel like they could charge even more for their drinks. Tax and tip are already built into the price, but even then, I was surprised at how low the tab was. I'll be sure to return.

    Mushroom crostini and truffle salt&oil!

Here for their spontaneous Mahjong & Jazz night! Ordered the Initiative which has a cool concept related to games! You roll a d20 die and it dictates the type of sweetness you will receive with the drink! Such a cool idea! I rolled a d4 which contained Aquafaba as its sweetener. Even with its low sweetness, it really is such a light and refreshing drink! You can taste the bitters but its not overpowering. A well balanced drink! I also ordered the mushroom crostini with truffle oil & salt! The bread is super soft and the blend of all the flavors just makes it such a delicious appetizer! It lays on a bed of microgreens and i just cleaned the whole plate haha! Love this place so much!

I came for Mahjong night and I stayed for the food and drinks! It was a pleasant surprise to see that it's was a 100% alcohol free bar with a vegan menu. The service was amazing and both owners were very pleasant and talked us through their menu. The location itself is very pretty, and the vibe was very chill. I will def be coming back again!

They have a small parking lot on the side of the bar. There's also street parking on Main St. This was a really cool place with a purpose. All the drinks were affordable, delicious mocktails. They were all only $8 each with tax and tips included. Although, you could always put down more and donate to one of their charities. They also had yummy food. All of their food was vegan. You need to reserve entrees in advance. They appeared very accommodating with food allergies. Came during a private event. Got the X'ed Out. Love that their single, giant cube had their initials. It was really good and unique. Multiple people got the Firepit Nights and they all said it was delicious. My table got the Truffle Chickpeas for $8, Chips & Guacamole for $10, and "Calamari" for $12. They came out hot, were shareable, and were all really tasty. The trumpet mushrooms made an amazing calamari substitute. Another person in my table got the Dirt Coupe for $9 and said it was delicious. It was served in a really pretty dessert bowl. Really liked that the food looked just the pictures on the menu. The place wasn't too big, but could accommodate a good amount of people. There were board games free to play. They had multiple events like fundraisers, mocktail classes, mahjong, and speed dating. Definitely a lounge to check out.

This is a non-alcholic bar that has monthly events! They have their own small parking lot off of Huntington Blvd. Their location was easy to find. Their drinks are so good I cant believe it doesnt contain alcohol! The bartender brought our drinks to us and while I didnt order food, it smelled amazing when it was brought out for somebody else. It is an extremely chill and casual environment and they have some table top board games that others can play at their tables. They have dim lights to create that bar life, and they even have a plastic are throwing game. The only sad part is they dont have air conditioning. It gets super expensive so they just have the industrial floor fans that are blowing all over the place! Their restroom has a squat stool and perfume, feminine pads and tampons. I thought that was awesome to have that in the bathroom. Im really glad to have come here for a casual night of mahjong with some friends. I love the hospitality of everyone there! Ill be back!

I've been going to them more and more, and The Lucky Tiki was one I definitely had to try out. First off, I have to praise 1933 group because I have loved every single bar they have revitalized and this one is no different. In keeping with their MO, The Lucky Tiki is a speakeasy with a vintage vibe. I won't give away how to get in but let's just say, it's near the front of Highland Park Bowl. My husband and I didn't have a reservation, but we were able to put our name in and got seated about an hour or so later. I was amazed as soon as I walked in the door! It's just floor to ceiling decorated with everything tiki. So many fun details and even interactive elements that turn on when a particular drink was ordered. That was probably my favorite part honestly. We ordered the Tiki Diablo, which is a large tiki drink with a flaming volcano. And yes it does have an interactive element. It was really good. Very fruity and strong, but not overly so. Service was excellent. Our waitress was on it and even waited to make sure my husband was back from the bathroom before lighting our drink on fire. We didn't try any food this time, but a lot of people were ordering the Hawaiian pizza. Do with that what you may. Will definitely be back ti try more drinks and food. Was the perfect spot for a lively date night!

TLDR: Improved technology, more modern look, still affordable…read more I had been meaning to check out this newly reopened bowling alley for a while now, so I'm glad I finally got to go! I'm not sure if it's being run by the same owner or if someone else took over, but the building looks much more modern now. It's a little bittersweet to see all the nostalgic pieces of my childhood gone, but it's hard to deny that it's for the best. Prices were still pretty affordable. The staff member let us know that there's a cheaper deal on weekdays, which is pretty normal for bowling alleys. There is clearly a lot more seating on the top floor. The addition of all the tables is really nice. I also noticed that they removed the extra TVs that used to either play ads or sports and stuff. They also got rid of all the pool tables that I never saw anyone use. The screens and control panels are all updated to this modern design too. Something else that was interesting was how the old bowling ball racks were moved to the side of the building to make room for bag hooks behind the people bowling. Although it's a good idea, it's kind of hard to watch your belongings when they're behind you like that, so it leaves your stuff kind of open for stealing. It's also easier to grab the bowling ball you need though because they're all in one place instead of spread across the whole building. The only thing that I kind of hate is the seating down by the alley. There's actually less seating down there with these standalone dining table sets replacing the old benches. Since our party arrived when there were many other people there, we only had one side of the lane while strangers were on the other side. It's just a little awkward to sit at a dining table with strangers like that. Not to mention, the seating arrangement left a lot of people standing and kind of made it hard to communicate with each other. In terms of bowling mechanics, I think the amount of time it takes for the bowling ball to return has been reduced significantly. I'm so glad we don't have to wait ages for the ball to return for the second throw! The machine also didn't seem to experience incorrect racking, which used to happen all the time here. Sadly, the screen does not tell you the mph your throw was at anymore. I always thought that was a very helpful feature, so it's a shame to see it go. Lastly, the floors seemed well cleaned and waxed. I didn't have to powder my shoes and felt like my bowling ball glided pretty smoothly down the alleyway. Overall, I think this bowling alley is nice. I'm glad to have an alley that's close to my house again!

I get why this place is the way it is, it is a different persona from the other owned establishment, but wine can be intimidating. You have the reds, whites, the sweets, the sparkling and etc. Not only the difference in profile, but you can pair it with food to enhance the overall flavor. There's potential to display educational decor or have sessions to educate. They do provide a wine club, but small steps can establish commitments with a new customer base. The pizza is delicious. To get…read morehere, not only do you have to go to the back of The 35er and go down the stairs, you ignore the tiki bar in front of you and make an immediately right U-turn. You reach a phone booth, pick up the phone, and wait for someone to buzz you in. This bar is different from the other two bars as it's smaller, more intimate, and focused on craft cocktails. On nights and weekends though, it can still get busy. We ordered a variety of drinks and liked the menta milk punch ($18), last word ($18), and queen's park swizzle ($16). This was my first time here and I would be interested in coming back and also check out the tiki bar too. This is a cool place to go as part of your bar hopping in Old Town Pasadena.

When you enter the 35er, you take the stairs (closer to the back door) and there's a phone booth. Pick up the phone and the bartender will ask how many in your party before letting you in. The space is small. Some reviews mentioned tiki bar and this is not a tiki bar, it's a speakeasy. They have a cocktail menu and a full bar for well/cocktails. Great place for a small group.

We came in around 6:30. They had just opened but the atmosphere was ready! Dark and moody with candles on the table, it was the perfect spot to grab a drink and catch up. Jeremy was our bartender and he was fantastic. Super chill and friendly and made us some amazing drinks based on a few preferences. Our "bartenders choice" drinks were amazing, so much so that our "drink to end the night" turned into two drinks and some appetizers. We ordered taquitos and mozzarella sticks. Overall all three of us ladies loved this place! We definitely plan to be back! Let Jeremy make you a drink - you won't regret it. He makes them custom for you and he definitely knows what he is doing. *they do ask for a password which you can request on their website... but I would do that 24-48 hours before you plan to visit. We didn't have that days password and simply asked the front door.

You will need to reach out to the bar via email to get the password, but you can also get a hint from the person at the front. We got our hint and successfully guessed it, gaining entry. The interior has dark lounge lighting with tables throughout. I got the gotham standard manhattan ($16) which was strong and spirit forward. We came right when they opened so it was very empty, but the bartender mentioned it gets really packed and lively on weekends. If I came back and was able to guess the password I'd stop by when it's more energetic for a different vibe.
