We visited nyc for my birthday and I chose this place to get my bday pastry. No Regrets whatsoever! The chocolate cake was rich in taste. I personally ordered the vegan citrus cake with raspberry jam + elderflower icing,, I'm not a vegan so I was skeptical on the taste. When I tell you I was sooo impressed. You'd never know the cake was vegan. The icing was rich, the cake itself was perfect in texture and taste. I loved my birthday pastry :) me and my cousin wanted to visit again but unfortunately the shops closed Monday-Wednesday so we missed those opportunities. i find the experience at this bakery to be unbelievably special. as a person who loves baked goods more than any savory food i try many, and never feel strongly enough to leave reviews. there is nothing manufactured about this place. when you eat their cake it tastes like someone just made it special for you. yesterday, we had a slice of the carrot cake, which maybe is a bit small according to american standards but my sister and i split it in half and felt completely satisfied & couldn't stop uttering "wow." then now, as i checked yelp, i discovered it was a gluten free cake. i love gluten, so never usually go for that on purpose, but wow you couldn't tell at all. i am so curious on how the heck they did it. i had seen much of the chocolate chip cookie online so we also got one of those, and it was bigger than the size of my hand. delicious, caramelly, chewy. and it's beautiful inside with nice staff to boot. i will be back! good luck, lucie! read more

As I'm sure is true for most of us, I kept seeing From Lucie all over TikTok and Instagram and wondered if it was worth the hype. My partner was sweet enough (pun intended) to pick me up a slice from the admittedly adorable shop which saved me from any line waiting - so I can't speak to that aspect of things. I can say though that the carrot cake is one of the best pieces of cake I have ever had. The texture was perfect and the rich spiced flavor of the cake paired with the sweet-but-not-too-sweet frosting was incredible. The presentation was also a nice touch and made me feel like spring had finally sprung! However, my partner got a slice of chocolate cake and said that it was tasty but didn't feel special or really any different than any other chocolate cake he's had before and he wasn't sure he felt it was worth the cost. I also sort of have to agree on that front. I tried 3 of her cakes today, but the vegan orange, raspberry and elderflower one blew my mind. I'm a Chef in a wedding venue and this is by far the best cake I've had in 4 years. I went to this store after missing out twice, one with a long line and another with an unexpected closure. After seeing so many write-ups about the shop, I made a special trip today to buy and sample a few things and satisfy my FOMO. I chose the GF carrot cake, the pistachio cake, and the Victoria sponge. Everything looked lovely with many items in the case and on the counter. However, the individual pieces are underwhelming in appearance and quite small (see photo). The 3 pieces cost $38 with tax before tip ($12,12, and 13). I think that's quite expensive for three small pieces. Maybe the drama of a large cake might be worth it for the aesthetics.
