I got lucky! I'd heard about the long lines but came by 12:15 on a Sunday hoping for a short wait and that everything wouldn't be sold out. There was ZERO line and 2-3 cakes to choose from. I got the pear raspberry cake, which I loved! It was very dense but it wasn't dry and I loved the pairing of raspberry (bolder) with pear (more subtle). Also, the flowers were a beautiful touch. These little cakes are so worth the hype it's getting. They use locally sourced flowers to top their incredibly beautiful mini cakes. I went on a Friday afternoon and their was no wait. I was lucky enough to snag these 2 cakes before they sold out. I will totally be back to try their chocolate cake as well. They also sell sliced cakes and cookies. I looked up this establishment on Instagram studying the treats, strategizing my plan to get there and satisfy my tastebuds. I decided to make the trip to the bakery on 1/22......with a hurry in my step the closer I got to the front door on a cold raining afternoon. I was met with several other customers standing outside and told what you never want to hear "sorry we are sold out of ALL pastries right now but if you want to come back tomorrow" . Hit or miss flavors. I got a citrus cake with raspberry jam and a chocolate cake with espresso. The citrus cake was disappointing; I didn't get citrus or elderberry at all. The buttercream was too sweet, while the cake itself was dry. It reminded me of grocery store pound cake, only denser and drier. The chocolate cake was better. It was still dense, but the chocolate and espresso flavors helped balance the sweetness. Staff were alright. There were two people behind the counter: one person was super nice, while the other tried to pack us up a slice of cake that had collapsed in the display case. Overall, this place is alright. The cookies here are absolutely fantastic. Seriously. The only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is because of the staff, specifically the people that man the front desk. Most of the time they seem to have an attitude. I understand they get a ton of customers and that people can be annoying, but I've been here four separate times now and 3/4 of those times someone had a bad attitude. The second time I came here I bought a cookie and an iced coffee. I asked the lady behind the counter if they had any Splenda and she responded with, "no, we don't have fake sugar." Lol okay girl, a simple "no we don't" would have been fine. Also, the last time I was here I noticed one of the girls behind the desk had a cup of water with ice. I asked if I could also have one (obviously I would pay). She then pulled out a bottle of Saratoga water. I said no thank you and asked if I could just pay for a cup of ice water. She said they "don't do that" and instead gave me the smallest paper cup I've ever seen with room temperature water that she only filled to about halfway in the cup. It was so wild that I almost laughed lol. Anyway, the cookies here are fabulous and I highly recommend them but the staff... yeah I don't know. Also, the cup of ice water I saw was clearly a cup from their store. And to be clear, I've encountered three different women behind the counter. Recently came to here to celebrate with some friends and was greeted with a really warm and friendly welcome. The cakes at from Lucie are so beautiful! We got iced and hot lattes with oat/while milk (really good espresso!), as well as the carrot cake and a slice of banana bread. All of the food was really tasty--we loved the carrot cake and the banana bread was really good too. Not too overly sweet but still hit the spot. The cream cheese icing was amazing! Pricing wise - cake slices were definitely cheaper than mini cakes, though here it's definitely about the experience. Coffee + drinks definitely worth it. There's one small table for two outside and three smaller stools inside, so I'd plan to take on the go, especially if you go at a busier time of day. We came about 20 minutes after they opened on a Thursday and waited a few minutes to sit in the window. There is a small line as they open to note if you're headed there at that time. Cute cake shop that opened on 10th/1st Ave. Had the pear & raspberry as a semi-lactose intolerant person without Lactaid and it tasted really fresh. There is a lot of maple buttercream smacked between the two cake layers and on top which actually tasted a little bland (usually it is way too sweet). The cake itself was good, but find it hard to justify the $13 price tag for the tiny square slice of cake that you can finish in a few bites. I've been looking for my go-to choc chip cookie spot and I can say that the ones here are *it*. I was tired of seeing the big, thick, chunky cookies and just wanted a classic, no frills choc chip cookie - and From Lucie delivers exactly that. Their cookies are large & on the thinner side (compared to Chip City, Levain, etc), so they have a delectably crispy outer edge and soft, gooey center. DELICIOUS. It's sprinkled with a bit of sea salt flakes on them, which I usually brush a bit off because I personally don't like it with too much salt - but they're still SO GOOD. The flavor is nostalgic in a way, and I absolutely love them. I recommend them to everyone !!! read more

My husband bought my birthday cake from Lucie two years in a row - the first time in 2022 when she arranged for pick-up behind a Chinese restaurant in lower Manhattan, and then again in 2023 from her store, which is when we noticed the quality of the cake had gone down significantly - the frosting and cake itself was super hard like it had just been taken out of the freezer. However, the main reason I am giving Lucie one star is because she twice lied to her customers, who chose to donate their money to her to help her open a store, which she promised them a tote bag in return. She not only never gave us a tote bag, which was promised over a year ago on her Kickstarter, but she again lied when I reached out to her via instagram and tried to blame the delay on her poor designer instead of taking personal responsibility. She also couldn't even make the second deadline she gave me for a tote bag arrival - which was January/February 2024. Even more disrespectful - she had been ignoring my husband's emails, who has been reaching out politely asking for any updates on the bags. It is clear she has no respect or appreciation for her customers, and her lack of hospitality, as well as the decline in taste of her products, reflects that. New East Village spot that has mini cakes, cakes by the slice, and, more recently, cookies and other small pastries. The shop is small yet so adorable, with yellow accents everywhere, flowers, and friendly staff that contribute to the overall Provençal feel. The cakes -- even the slices -- are delicately and so beautifully decorated with flowers that the shop so nicely adorns. From Lucie now also sells homemade confiture (i.e., jam) in several flavors. I'm lucky enough to live a block away so I arrived by 10:58, two minutes before opening, and was back at my apartment by 11:15 with a slice of the pear raspberry cake with maple buttercream. I've had this slice before and was compelled to get it again as it was lifechangingly good. Such unique flavors that feel much more elevated than what you could get at other New York City cake shops. The cakes feel cozy, so personable, and special. I cannot wait to try the other flavors (particularly the pistachio marzipan, which they unfortunately did not appear to have when I visited, and the popular mini carrot cake). I docked one point because the prices are incredibly steep, at $13 for a very small slice of cake (I understand that so much time and high quality ingredients / resources go into each slice, but that is still a lot of money). The mini carrot cake, which almost looks smaller than the slices, costs $18. That said, From Lucie would make an incredible gift to those with a sweet tooth and palate for unique flavors. From Lucie is an absolute dream ! The prettiest cakes I have ever seen and also absolutely delicious. I went on a Friday morning around 10:45 am there was already a small line but nothing too crazy. By the time theh opened at 11 there were quite a few people behind me. The wait time to get into the store wasn't very long . The actual space is quite small with only window seating for 2 people but the store is light and airy. The cakes are stunning - almost too beautiful to eat! I got the chocolate and carrot cake. Both were moist and delicious. I also love that there were bits of chocolate in the chocolate frosting ( yes I am partial to chocolate ). I definitely think it will become an NYC staple and is where I will be getting my next birthday cake from! Came here to pick up a present and snagged a slice for myself. Arrived ~10-15min before they opened and waited for another ~10-15min before getting inside. I got the mini carrot cake as a present and victoria sponge for myself. Both were stunning and delicious. A few people have commented on the price and it is, indeed, pricey. However, it's a small business with incredible quality. The biggest qualm I had with the experience was that there's no where to sit. With a small counter space by the window, the chances of getting to sit and enjoy your cake are nearly impossible. This then meant I had to walk to find another cafe to buy a tea just so I could try my cake. This likely won't be an issue during warmer months but it's just not possible during winter. Overall, I'd come back. My friend loved his present and I'd love to try more. I think I'd just either be a horrible human and force my way onto the bar seats or go straight home. read more

The first time I visited, the server (a young looking white man) skipped over me and my sister (both of us women of color) for people behind us in line. The cake we got was fine but not enough to overcome our experience in store. The second time, we walked in on a not so busy day and unfortunately had the same server.
