Amazing bacon cheeseburger! Warning though: not a 'while you drive' burger.. Very messy! The bacon was crispy and the patty is seasoned well. The prices are great too. The reason they lost a star: the fries are not very good... They are thin and get cold quickly. I didn't get dipping sauce because you have to pay extra (and I already paid extra for tomato) Overall- will definitely go again. I would recommend this place unless you only want fries. read more

Frugals, the place where you can be frugal but get some awesome food doing it! Drive-thru only it has the most greasy tasty treats around! Better than In and Out. Trust me on that one! We went here tonight, and I had to write a review because the burger was the best I've had in a long time. My husband and I each ordered a bacon cheeseburger combo. The burger was 1/4 lb and the bacon was generously portioned and delicious. The service was also fast considering there were a few cars ahead of us. I would say if your looking for an old fashioned style burger with fast service you could do worse. What I like about them is they keep it simple and don't drown the burger in sauce. They are underwhelming but good if that makes sense? When we see one and are hungry it's an easy decision over the fast food chains and the stainless diner look is always cool. read more

I have passed this place a ton of times and if you have spent any time in Auburn you have as well. I asked a friend who lived there if it was worth a stop and he said, "Only if you want a cheap greasy, roadside burger". Well, turns out one day I did and I swung through Frugal's and I can tell you this was no roadside burger. This burger was pretty damn good and even though they are not going to put Red Robin out of business I would take this burger over any fast food burger you can get locally. Best local cheeseburger I've found so far. The price is right. As a California transplant, I miss In-n-Out, and Frugal's is the next best thing. One little thing to remember is to ask for (pay for?) dipping sauce when you order at the drive through window, BEFORE you pick up your food. I asked for dipping sauce at the pick up window, and the lady gave me one sauce "on the house". Dick's Burgers also charges for side sauces, so maybe that's a Washington burger joint thing. In-n-Out doesn't charge for a side of their Thousand Island dressing, so I'll adjust. Great burgers, great service, solid price. Frugals is drive through only (no sit down dining), so you'll have to enjoy this yummy deliciousness in your vehicle. Great tasty burger and fries. Had the bacon cheeseburger the burger was juicy and cooked perfectly. Not like other places that over cook and dry it out. Bacon was excellent thick and flavorful. Fries were fresh and really good too. I would have gave five stars but they lost one star for the funky tasting lettuce they put on the burger. After a LONG day at the vet, my mom and I decided to stop by here for a quick bite before we hit traffic on the way home. The cool airstream look caught our eye and the name Frugals! My mom really liked her 1/4pound cheeseburger, but I didn't think it was that great. The fries were so-so. Dick's is much better! I also think McDonalds angus burger is better. But again, my mom thought it was great! I wish they offered something not on a bun or bread. I do have to say I bumped them up a star because they had AWESOME customer service. Cruised to this burger joint, last night, before going to the movies. We were a little bummed to find out it was ONLY a drive thru... not a place to go inside. But, we dealt with it. And their prices are wonderfully low. My wife and I each got the Number 2: Cheeseburger, fries and a 24oz. soda. The food wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worst either. And someone drew a cute snowman on our bag, and wrote "Happy Holidays" on it. Really cute. I love this spot. I ALWAYS get the bacon cheeseburger without pickless with the fries plus fry sauce and a oreo shake.... BUUUUT. Everytime I go around 7:30pm-830pm ish (and they usually close a lot later)they always tell me they're shake machine is down and this is at least 6 times.. smh They probably always want to close so soon. People always have a sweet tooth at night than the day ! Other than the machine being down (which I will never understand why) I would give this a 5 star. I would definitely buy a bacon cheeseburger than a big mac! But please. This burger place is so awesome, you don't even have to have a car to order in the drive thru setting!! And boy we weren't the only ones who walked a great distance for a freshly made burger. Drive thru only, not cheap, but really pretty decent fresh fried burgers and fries. Americana at its finest. I love the fact that you have the option of choosing specific toppings - and there are plenty of choices. Drive thru window is available from either the right or left side, which is occasionally convenient because many people prefer to avoid the left side yogi contortionism required to reach through the passenger window if you're flying solo. Food isn't instantaneous because they're actually cooking it but they do move things right along. Only other negative is that if you're heading towards Hwy 18 you're going to have to squeak through the alleyway by Walgreens. Still - Frugals is a solid burger choice in Auburn. read more

This place is definitely a keeper. Initially drawn in by the retro diner car style, I decided to stop in after reading the reviews & definitely wasn't disappointed. There's nothing worse than a burger so saturated in grease that it's served on a soggy bun with limp fries, so I was more than delighted to see the crispy fries and toasty bun when I got my order.
