Excess ceiling removed for the exhaust body. Cover still left a gap

We had requested GAP to install a bathroom exhaust fan back in 2020. Rough install with excessive space cut in the ceiling relative to the fixture in the ceiling, left rough wall patching for the switch and wiring. Not a big deal. Over the years I wondered why the fan we installed was so freaking loud and obnoxious. It's supposedly whisper quiet but I figured I just had sensitive ears, which I do. I took it apart as we are planning a bathroom remodel and figured out why. He had installed the fixture and didn't even try to vent it, it's completely obstructed. I may as well should have left it alone since this exhaust was just circulating humid air anyways and I could have spared myself from the noise. He could have told me that he only installs and a contractor would need to figure out the rest but that was not what was agreed upon. I'm upset over a half assed job. we We were overwhelmed new home owners (2020) and now I realized we have been taken advantage of

I highly recommend Gap Electric. Gonzalo responded to my inquiry within 20 minutes from a evening text and was able to squeeze me in for a 830am appointment. He provided me a fair estimate which he honored at the time of payment. He was friendly, safe (masked), and very prompt. He replaced my circuit breaker and my lights are working great. I will definitely be using Gap Electric for my future electrical needs. Five stars!!

    Burnt main breaker

I was having electrical issues ie. lights flickering, some appliances not powering on, and arcing from my electrical panel. I called my brother, who is an electrician in San Mateo County, and he said I needed to address the issue ASAP because the arcing could cause a fire. I couldn't wait a few days for him to fix it because of the risk of fire so he found GAP Electric (he read reviews and can see how clean of a job GAP does). I called GAP, explained the issue and Gonzalo (owner of GAP) came right away. Gonzalo diagnosed the issue and the arcing came from my main breaker, which was burnt, and also damaged a part of my panel. It was time to upgrade my panel and breakers. Gonzalo installed a Siemans 125amp panel with arc fault breakers. He also updated some wiring, rearranged previous wiring that weren't up to code, and overall did a great job. I'm very happy with the job. No more flickering, no more arcing, and also no more overload on a circuit where we would have two separate Dyson space heaters warming up my wife's office and the nursery (happy wife, happy life). It was annoying to always have to switch the breaker back on after an overload. I had an awesome experience working with Gonzalo. He's very knowledgeable, friendly, diligent and works fast. I'd recommend GAP Electric in a heartbeat. Thank you Gonzalo!

Updated review to 1 from 3 stars. Directly in response to Business Owners response. 1. " I fixed your problem and test before leaving, otherwise you wouldn't pay." You fixed my garbage disposal by switching out the connection to the one used by using a connection for my recessed light, which you told me was broken due to the bulb. We had contractors replaced the bulb and the fixture and were informed that its a wiring issue. 2. "I came back after a time because you said that your light fail, and you were not there, sorry, but the nature of my job is service, and I go where people need me" We told you that the light was still not working, and you showed up randomly without an appointment. we never agreed to a time or a date. If service is your job, then make an appointment, you dont randomly show up to peoples homes and park in their driveways 3. "but I can not stop assisting other clients or changing schedules of it is not an emergency. " Nobody told you to stop, and we werent asking you to come right away. We requested an appointment, which you never gave us, you just randomly showed up. 4. "I was there, you were not." Because you randomly showed up. without an appointment. people go to work. 5. By the way, no need to break into your house or your neighbors, actually I am your neighbor, have a Family and live from this. My clients recognize me and know about my commitment. This is not about you, and nobody accused you of breaking in. Original post said "WE" had break-ins and dont want random people coming without an appointment. This has "NOTHING" to do with you. The fact that you feel because you are not a burglar, you can do whatever you want is part of your problem. 6. Thanks for your review, and hopefully you solve your problems, that evidently are not electrical. Good luck!! The problem is "MOST" Definitely a direct result of you switching out the wiring from our recessed light which was working, to fix the Garbage disposal on the same switch. now the garbage disposal does work, and the recessed light does not, which "YOU" told us is due to a broken bulb. Which we changed out, and changed the entire fixture, and had the wires tested, and were told is faulty wiring issue. You are most definitely the problem. The fact that I gave 3 stars, and you felt you needed to attack us to avoid blame, is most definitely a red flag here Original Review 3 stars. TLDR - would not use GAP again Mixed bag here. We used GAP a few years ago when we moved to the east bay. Our garbage disposal stopped working, GAP came: 1. would not take off shoes or wear booties as ("its against union rules"). okay not a big deal. 2. Could not fix the garbage disposal, so changed out the wiring to our recessed lights. garbage disposal starts working, but recessed light does not work - GAP tells us to change the bulb should be good. (its not the light bulb or fixture.. its the wiring we will learn later) 3. We ask gap to come back because the light has been changed but still doesnt work. GAP randomly shows up without an appointment, and parks in our driveway when were not home. - this is an issue not because we suspect GAP. but someone had broken into our car in the driveway before, and may have also gotten into our garage. Also our neighbor had a similar break in. We just dont want random people showing up when were no around. We have security cameras with motion detectors thats how we knew he was on site in our driveway 4. Handyman tries to place the light again, buys brand new fixture. doesnt work, tests the wiring, were getting power. but thinks the ground is messed up. Overall. 3 stars, he did fix the garbage disposal. but by switching out the cabling for the recessed light. which I now have to pay someone else to fix.

I was in need of a licensed, capable, and highly rated electrician to replace a 44-year-old exhaust fan in the master bathroom of my condo. Checking Yelp, S&B Electric was one of the first I saw that matched my criteria. After reading many of the reviews, I submitted a request for quote through Yelp (late October or early November 2025). I received an automated text response with a list of questions to answer. I responded accordingly. Below is a timeline of subsequent communications: 11/03/25 - I sent a text to S&B requesting confirmation of receipt of my information. No response. 12/05/25 - I called and left a voice message 12/06/25 - I called Stewart directly and received an automated response stating, "I'll call you back." I replied, "Thank you." 12/06/25 - Stewart returned my call. During the conversation, he requested a photo of the existing fan. I obliged and immediately sent a picture. When I sent the picture, I received another automated response with the same questions I had received before. I completed them again in response. I received no confirmation of receipt. 12/10/25 - I sent a follow-up text to Stewart. No response. 12/17/25 - I called Stewart again, and again received an auto response, "I'll call you back." No call back happened. I put the entire project on hold for the next five or six months and focused on other things. During this time, I received no communication from Stewart or anyone else from S&B Electric. Always wanting to give people the benefit of the doubt, I decided to try one final time. On 5/06/26, I sent another request for quote through the form on the S&B Electric website and received an immediate automated response confirming receipt of my request. As of 5/13/26, I still had received NO RESPONSE. At this point, I had completely given up. I understand that many people had wonderful and positive experience with S&B Electric, and that is what I had based my initial decision off of. However, when a business or representative thereof fails to at least extend the courtesy of just replying to say they cannot, for whatever reason, accommodate a request for service, that non-response is equivalent to poor service overall. That said, since I cannot speak to the quality of their work, I must base my review off of the facts above. If the amount of stars is based on that, it would be 0/5. Consequently, I ended up working with another locally/minority owned/operated contractor, who not only provided exceptional service from initial call to intake to invoice, but they also got the job done in less than three hours and will be my contractor for all future electrical needs in my current home, and future home.
