We have visited this restaurant for decades, and in recent years, it has come under new ownership. I can assure you, based on my experience on this visit, the flavors, portions, and kind service... all still fantastic! Came on in during lunchtime on a Monday in a group of four. We started off ordering grilled pita bread, and the delicious freshly brewed iced tea. Our server, Alexis was so incredibly attentive and sweet, anticipating our needs and checking in with us. It was no problem at all to customize orders, and provide sauces, dressings, etc. Ordered at the table: super crisp, fresh green salad with lettuce, cabbage, cucumber, and a beet, a generous sized lavash roll with pilaf- (seriously, you could split it), a cold plate customized to include extra eggplant, hummus, and yalanchi, and lots of rice pilaf. We were all super satisfied. Knowing how much the tea was being enjoyed, right prior to bringing over the bill, there was thoughtful Alexis with super big to-go cups filled with fresh tea for us, wow! She knew how hot it was outside, and totally anticipated our needs. The restaurant is self-seating, with tables and chairs inside & in the breezeway of the Galleria Center. Also, seating at the counter is available. Fyi- if the restroom is needed, there is a code you can get upon request to use the ones in the Galleria (a shared space for multiple eateries). Service is prompt, food fresh & flavorful, and cost is on-par with similar Mediterranean Restaurants. Tips: go for the grilled bread, with the garlic sauce and get a side of parsley and onions. Kinda my own creation- but super scrumptious and light, flavorful way to start off your meal. At the end, to-go containers for food are given upon request, and you pay at the counter. A very good sit down for some Mediterranean food. They have kebabs, sandwiches, lamb dishes. I ordered the Lavosh Roll. It contained a beef but I think it was half lamb and beef but it was very tasty. The menu really lacked the description of this dish. It was served with rice pilaf which was tasty but could use a little more flavor. We were given a garlic sauce with our dish. My colleague who I was with ordered the chicken sandwich and he was very happy with that. It was served with a chili. I have to say the prices were not bad. My order amounted to $18 not including tips. I would give them another try. They did have. A Philly ssandwich looked good. read more

With the options of Mediterranean food in downtown, we'd hope to find a spot that we could frequent. Unfortunately, this place was definitely not it. It's sad to say but with the amount of money that I spent here I was hoping for a better experience. Let's start with the order, I called in my order of a lamb lunch plate that came with rice and soup or salad, then a crab pocket bread sandwich, and an extra side of vegetables. For those 3 items it came out to about $35. I called my order about an hour ahead so that I could have it ready right away when I came to pick it up. I came through the back entrance and was near the cash register for take out orders and payments. I got there at 12:01 and didn't leave until 12:14, there were at least 2 people that came in after me that got helped before I did and got their orders out. It took 3 different servers to come by to finally get me my order. I talked to the other 2 twice letting them know what my order was and they still didn't help me. After leaving the restaurant I found a bench to eat lunch at and if the wait weren't enough, the food was absolutely SALTY, and we found HAIR in both our orders. The vegetables that we ordered on the side tasted as if they came out of a can, which really killed the whole thing for me on top of all the salt from the lamb. COVID-19 Phase: I went with my mother to pick up lunch. You are allowed to sit inside. My mother ordered two chicken kebab sandwiches with salad instead of rice pilaf that it normally comes with. The workers are masked. The one that took my mothers order was nice. She said it would be ready shortly. We waited. It was ready pretty quickly and we left. It wasn't very busy. We came after the lunch crowd. The chicken kebab sandwich was Amazingly delicious! Wow! Loved! Fresh bread and the meat was cooked perfectly. Delicious garlic sauce too! Hmmmm...I had the day off work, the usually home hubby was out of town and I wanted to try something different. George's came to mind...it was my favorite lunch spot when I worked downtown. I ordered what was my usual, the tri tip pocket with no grilled veggies. It comes with the most amazing pilaf, made just right. (And such a huge serving). The pocket bread is awesome. George's is old town Fresno, having been downtown for decades, before over on Ventura. The Galleria setting is very pleasant but small and crowded during lunch time. If you get there around 1:30, the pace is slower. It's fun, though, to watch the lunch crowd. You never know who you will see having lunch here. I always have the shish kebob sandwich with pilaf, as it is always tasty, and pilaf is so buttery good. The peda bread comes from a local bakery and is always fresh. The food has always been very good, but if you're in a pinch for time during lunch, perhaps this is not the option to consider. It's always very busy, which is a great thing. It means the food is great right? From the time I sit down to the time I get the check, it's usually an hour, but then there's travel time there, so typically 1.5 hrs. This doesn't prevent me from coming - sometimes this sounds great for lunch. I tend to not stray from the chicken kebab plate because I like it so much, I always order it knowing that I'll be very happy. I did try the beef kebab plate a couple times and it's very good as well. The meat is nice and tender and seasoned very well. The side salad is good as well. By the time I have salad and bread, I'm already half way full so when the main meal comes, I usually eat 1/2 and take the other half to my husband. When I used to work near Riverpark, I would come at least once a month for lunch. You should try it! read more

I hate to give George's 3 stars because I've been coming here since i was 7 years old (23 years).. I work nearby and decided to run in and grab a beef kabob plate! Service was fast and the girls provided AMAZING service! I got my food in less than 10 minutes. The food looked great... However, my beef kabobs were very undercooked. Now i dont mind a lil pink and medium type cook, but this was very RARE!! had very little flavor and was hard to eat.. The veggies seem to be out of a can which i didnt really appreciate since i paid $15 for my plate. Pita bread was warm n tender, rice pilaf was very great and exactly how i remember it!! And the salad was simple, fresh and crisp with the perfect oil n vinegar dressing! I absolutely LOVE the garlic sauce that i requested on the side (not sure if the garlic sauce comes standard.. I hope so) Overall i would say they need to work on the main protein component of dishes n of course the can veggies! Not sure if ill be back! First time at this mom and pop eatery. Very fast service. We came in, sat down, menus, food ... all served within 20 minutes tops. This quick service is definitely to serve the businesses around the downtown area. Came here for lunch on a Saturday. Beat the rush and also didn't have a typical weekday lunch rush crowd to deal with. I'd heard good things about this place. I don't eat lamb which appears to be a crowd favorite here. They serve bread which was pretty good. I ordered the chicken kebab lunch plate. It came with soup or salad, vegetables and rice pilaf. They also serve pretty much everything with diced onions and either cilantro or parsley on top. If you don't like onions, just be aware. I like onions so it's cool with me. Came here with a large group and our waitress was nice and attentive. Service was not a problem here. Everyone in my party liked their food, but in our party of like 12, everyone ordered a sandwich except for me and 3 others. I thought the food was ok, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here again. I had a wider sampling than others because the sandwiches only come with rice pilaf. I'll break down the lunch plate: The salad was just a prepackaged iceberg mix with one cucumber slice and a slice of something red (maybe a beet? I didn't eat it). A lot of the lettuce was brown on the edges, but not terribly so that it was wilted or gross. Aesthetically it wasn't the prettiest and you knew it wasn't the freshest. The actual lunch plate had a lot of food with 4 large chicken tender sized pieces. I glanced at a few reviews and people are complaining that the rice pilaf is Rice-A-Roni (which I'm not well acquainted with), but I liked the pilaf. It wasn't the best pilaf I've ever had nor did it taste particularly homemade/ from scratch, but it wasn't bad. The real let down here was the vegetables. Ugh. If I wanted canned vegetables I'd open a can. I did think that maybe the carrots had been fresh, but they were so soft and mushy it was hard to tell. I've never had canned carrots before so I don't know how those compare. I hate canned green beans, but I really tried to like this canned vegetable medley because I love vegetables and was craving some. I do like canned corn but apparently not theirs. They didn't try to spruce up the vegetables either by seasoning them or anything. It's as if they just mixed up a bunch of canned vegetables, heated them, and served them. Pass! The chicken was actually very flavorful and not just bland grilled chicken. I did find myself wanting some garlic sauce to drizzle on top though. (Like Mediterranean Grill & Cafe's. Mmm!) I felt like it needed something especially since everything else was bland. There were chopped onions and parsley on top on the chicken which was good. Yay fresh vegetables! There were a couple of bell peppers and squash pieces that seemed like they snuck in. The bell pepper and squash were fresh which made me wonder why they're serving subpar canned vegetables as a side if they have fresh vegetables. If you do get a lunch plate, maybe ask for extra rice and skip the canned vegetables or order a sandwich instead. The sandwiches were huge and looked pretty good. I do know though that if I were in Downtown Fresno during lunch I'd much rather go to Mediterranean Grill & Cafe. Such flavorful food! They're not open on weekends though. :( read more

The food is amazing. Armenian dishes are delicious. The chicken was cooked well, moist, tender and delicious. The steak sandwich was a little dry but still good. The portions are generous. When they aren't busy, the service is excellent. However, when they are slammed, like other places, you should expect delays. The seating seems cramped and the chairs aren't that comfortable but you're only there for a meal and a drink or two so it's fine. The people that work there are very nice. There is no shortage of Mediterranean restaurants downtown and a few in walking distance that taste much better. The most recent visit I had shish kebab and substituted a salad for rice. I also asked for no bread but they seem to have forgotten that I asked for that and I had to give the bread away. I also ended up leaving my leftovers because they really weren't worth saving. The lamb was decent and so was the garlic sauce. The "vegetables" are basically just canned green beans and corn with no seasoning. Maybe butter. And the salad was lettuce, a tomato slice, and an onion slice with an uninspired vinaigrette. All for a more expensive price than other Mediterranean restaurants.
