I work in the same shopping center as Gin Sushi and would frequent this restaurant on my lunch break. Although the food and servers were outstanding, the manager was horrible and had no customer service class. I ordered my regular California roll, salad and miso soup. Since I was a regular, they knew I only had a half an hour lunch. 15 minutes into my lunch I asked the server when my roll was coming out. Next thing I knew... my lunch was over and no roll in sight... So I asked them to take the roll off of my bill, which the manager did. The server then came out with my roll in a "to-go baggie" and hinted to the manager that I should just take it "on the house" since they forgot to bring it out. (I thought that was very sweet of the server to do, since I was still hungry.) The manager turned to her and told her to take the roll back. I was really shocked and surprised by her actions, because I was a good & loyal customer. I was extremely dissatisfied and upset at the manager for not taking accountability and not even apologizing. I have told many family and friends of this incident. I have NOT AND WILL NOT EVER GO THERE AGAIN! read more

We had the "all you can eat". The value is great. This is one of the only places that I have found that also includes sushi in the "all you can eat" menu. Most places only offer rolls for the "all you can eat" specials. We ordered sushi, traditional rolls, baked rolls, tempuras, and various appetizers. The food was delicious. The spicy tuna was truly spicy. The specialty rolls tasted great. The service was very good. Various servers tag teamed throughout the experience. My only criticism is that the table was not thoroughly cleaned before we were seated. Despite that, we will definitely be back. The value is awesome! read more

The only reason I go here is because of convenience the sushi is a mediocre, there are so many choices out there will never go back here. Went here yesterday with my family and we had one of the most horrible experience ever. We got there around 6 or 7 pm and the place wasn't too busy it was actually a little quiet than usual. We ordered 2 all you can eat and 1 kid's meal. At first the two male waiters was nice and then after maybe 20 mins, there was still no food in our table or drinks . Most of the stuff we ordered was pretty simple dish. Finally some of our rolls came but most of the items on our list wasn't brought to us by the serves like the edemamme, miso soup, spicy mayo, siracha, napkins and most of all our kid's meal for our kids. Almost 30 minutes already and my kid's food still has not arrived. The servers were no where to be found so I decided to ask one of the sushi chef, maybe I thought he can tell me what's going on. The other male server finally came out of nowhere and he looked irritated and told me that I should never ask the sushi chef questions about our meal because they aren't the ones who handle the food in the back. I even apologize to him for bothering the sushi chef because I didn't know I wasn't supposed to do that. So I asked him about it and he said he forgot about the kid's meal but earlier when I asked him he said that the back was a little slow and now he tells me that he forgot to put my kids order in. He asked if we would still want to go ahead and order the kid's meal so I said no it's okay, don't worry about it anymore. We ordered another round of sushi and also asked them for another 2 order or miso soup because the first 2, we never got. Since my kids never got their food I was giving some of my soup to my 2 year old. He took maybe 3 sips and he was done. The servers never gave us refills on our drink or our condiments. After five minutes we decided we were done with the bad service and would just want to close out and pay. When I saw the bill, they over charged us for sodas, ( we all had water and 1 apple juice) for the kid's meal we never got and for the 2 miso soup! So I go to the older Japanese lady by the register ( I think she's the owner) and told her we were charged for the things we didn't get, she asked one of the male server what happened and she mention why we weren't paying for some of the items in the receipt specially the kids meal and he lied in front of my face. He yelled "they didn't want it" and just went about his business. The lady didn't apologize or anything after I told her what had happened, she just took my debit card and made me sign the receipt. We would never come back here ever. They definitely lost a regular customer. We come here at least 3 times a month but with this kind of treatment we won't miss this place. read more

I love Gin Sushi! I was a regular there for almost two years for lunch and occasionally dinner on an almost every other day basis, but now find that I am able to only stop by maybe once a month... if that. Anyways, in all honesty I would have to agree that this place can be a hit or miss, but I feel only on service. Granted, because I have seen these people quite often over a long period of time, I can definitely say that I have seen them at their best and their worst and would still recommend them to anyone and everyone. When it comes to the sushi, however.... I love them! I can honestly say that I have enjoyed every piece of it and that doing the all you can eat is hands down WELL worth it! I haven't had any experience in them over packing it with rice, but there have been a couple of chefs come and go over time..... Basically, if you want sushi at an affordable price (19 bucks for all you can eat lunch and 25 bucks for dinner) and can overlook the subtle lack of 5 star service, I would definitely say to try this place!.....At least once! read more

This place should not be called "all you can eat SUSHI". It should be called "all you can eat RICE" because the sushi pieces they give you has almost twice the normal amount of rice. Thats why they have that warning label on the menu stating that "you must eat everything you order or you will be charged extra". They are trying to stuff you with rice before you eat your moneys worth in raw fish. Its sad because the sushi quality is pretty descent. read more

They kept reiterating that if they "CAUGHT" us sharing we'd be charged. A simple disclaimer is fine. Don't tell me 3 times that if you catch me...When it came down to it, we all ordered "all you can eat." I don't like being spoken to like I'm a thief. This wasn't a one-time thing. We went twice in one week and were treated the same as were many other customers we observed. I did notice people that appeared to be regulars were treated differently. Background: Hubby and I eat sushi once every week or every two weeks. We enjoyed high end sushi and also your hole in the wall kind of eatery. This place is in the middle. You don't have to pay a lot to get good quality sushi. Hubby and I went to Gin Sushi this past weekend for all you can eat sushi for lunch(1:00pm) for $20 ($19 plus some change). LOVE IT! Here's why from beg to end: - greeted nicely as we entered the door. ambiance is nice with big tvs in every corner of the restaurant and 2 big ones by the bar. - we sat at the bar (we always sit at the bar) and there were couple of sushi chefs working and both are not extremely friendly but are pleasant. some places the chefs are selective to the people they are nice to... mostly to their regulars. here we felt just right at home. - we were handed our ginger and wasabi right away and a server asked us what we want. we said we'll be having the all you can eat and green tea. shortly after, our green tea was served and we started ordering our food. ** MOST PLACES GIVES YOU 1HR TO HAVE ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI. THIS PLACE DIDN'T HAVE THAT LIMIT. then again, we can only eat so much and 1hr was plenty of time. between hubby and i we finished 12 plates of sushi x $4.50/plate = $54 (the cost if we ate regular not all you can eat). plus our tea for $2 something per cup. the green tea is not your fresh brewed green tea they only serve bags and i can see why (to probably keep the cost down but still offer good food. the tea bag was not bad though. some sushi places also uses tea bags but are not good. this one was a good green tea bag. - our food started coming in quickly - some places you have to wait long and some places all your food start coming all together. here our food was nicely paced out. 1 or 2 plates at time. it was good. - our empty plates were cleared fast and our tea was refilled fast too. - sushi portion was good size, i would even say their serving falls on a larger side. some places the fish portion is small. this place the fish portion was large that you barely see the rice. another BIG PLUS. - their sushi are fresh as can be. only had nigiri sushi, a hand roll for salmon skin, and soft shell crab roll. the rest were nigiri sushi. so if you only like to read sushi rolls - i can't really comment on that. we had yellow tail, tuna, unagi, soft shell crab, makarel, scallop, unagi ski hand roll, albacore, green mussel, salmon roe eggs, some we ordered twice or 3x. it was sooo good. - we normally go to another place for all you can eat for $25 each for 1hr and that places spaces out our food. THIS IS OUR NEW REGULAR PLACE. - similar to other sushi places, they greeted us on our way out. WILL DEFINITELY go back to this place again and bring our family and friends. I HOPE THEY DO NOT CHANGE their serving, price and ambiance. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. read more

Pros and cons here. They seem to really over-sauce things here. Like to the point the entire bottom of the plate is covered in sauce making the sushi rice on the bottom soaking wet with sauce. The sauces they use actually taste good, but having this much sauce tends to overpower the fish, ruin the texture of the rice, and overall make one feel like they're ingesting a lethal dose of sodium. Perhaps next time I should ask for "light sauce" or something on those rolls or nigiri they put heavy sauce on. I'm also disappointed to see their AYCE menu is much more limited in variety than it used to be, especially for lunch menu. AYCE is still a good value compared to a la carte pricing, but overall the experience seemed lacking since there is a quite a few AYCE competitors in the area. So I gotta say it's alright, just is lacking a masterful touch or creativity in the same way as other offerings nearby. To me sushi places can be either very simple, but super authentic. Or they can be super fusiony with bold flavors. But this doesn't really fit into either of these categories. If you're going to go fusiony, get super wacky and creative (which doesn't mean just putting heavy sauce on typical rolls and calling it day). read more

This is my favorite Sushi place by far. We drive from 20 minutes away just to eat here whenever we crave sushi. They are so affordable if you don't do all you can eat (otherwise their all you can eat prices are just about the same as anywhere else). My other favorite is Sushi One in Murrieta but I no longer do all you can eat and it is way too expensive there to order rolls individually. Their sushi is so delicious and I've eaten at ALOT of different sushi restaurants. So the food gets 5 stars hands down. My only complaint is any time we have gotten all you can eat or have brought our family and some of them choose all you can eat, the owner, who is not the friendliest woman, will come to your table and ask that your party re-arrange their seats so that people who are eating all you can eat sit next to each other. To me this is absolutely ridiculous! People should be allowed to sit where they want and next to who they want regardless of what they are eating. Our party simply told her no we aren't moving our seats and she had to keep reminding all of us not to share with others in our party who were not having all you can eat. No sharing are the same rules at EVERY sushi restaurant so the fact they need to bother their customers and constantly remind them that they cannot share like their are thieves is very rude. I know it happens at restaurants but honestly, even if someone did share a few pieces they couldn't finish, is a couple of pieces of sushi really worth the customer experience and possibility of them not returning. The owner needs to relax and treat her customers better and realize that customer experience is way more important that a few pieces of sushi possibly being shared. Other than that if you want great Sushi, definitely go here and maybe just lay your foot down and tell them you aren't going to move if the owner is there and insists on it. I go here all the time and I always see her asking parties to move their seats around so just say no :) read more

Ok, this was our 2nd time here. The first was great we always do ayce when that's an option so we walk in at 9:30, and are seated and then told they have last call in 15 minutes for sushi even though they close at 10pm. We are told that we will only be able to put one order in so to order everything we want... we tried to estimate what we thought we could eat and then handed over our paper to which we were then told if we couldn't finish it all we would be charged extra (I know all sushi places do this but gauging how much you will eat in one order is not easy) ... we felt extremely rushed and ended up eating so fast we weren't truly able to even enjoy it. It really felt like we were being pushed out. What sucks even more is that sushi was once again really good and very fresh. My advice make sure you don't EVER come in here if it's any less than an hour and a half before closing or you probably won't enjoy your meal. We go out for sushi around twice a month and I'm not sure we will be coming back here as our typical date night is going to the movies around 7pm and then out for dinner usually at 9pm. Hope this review helps other diners from making the mistake we did in thinking they would treat a customer well even if it was a half hour before they close. Great place with plenty of variety and quality fresh ingredients. Its rather small so dont expect to just walk up during the rush hours and get a table, bar area is also pretty limited, but the the wait is well worth it. $24.99 AYCE Menu and reasonable prices on other menu items.
