This is my favorite breakfast place in the area. On a weekend morning, be prepared to wait in line in the tiny entranceway though. The place is pretty small and busy on the weekends, but the food is worth the wait. Their coffee is delicious and always fresh. The staff is always friendly and attentive. My favorites are the eggs Benedict, eggs florentine, mexican skillet, and the berry French toast. They always have a few seasonal options as well. Overall, don't come here on a weekend if in a hurry, but if you want good food in a family owned place, Ginas is it. read more

This place has terrible customer service. The staff has no clue on food and pricing. We ordered a lunch special which included a soup or slaw for $6. They never brought my husband his slaw and tried to charge me an extra $2 for the soup that was supposed to come with the lunch. The food was burnt, hard, and super greasy. The chef nor the staff wouldn't do anything about the horrible food or bad customer service. We wasted $18 for nothing. We didn't even finish the food. We will never go back to this place. Sad because I know the owners and the restaurant has definitely gone downhill. read more

We love Gina's Cafe. The owners and staff are very friendly and make you feel like family. Everything we've ever ordered has been delicious. I love the Michigan Salad with the Parmesan dressing. My husband loves their corned beef, hash and eggs. Like I've said, we've never had a bad meal here and have been going here since they opened. Their prices are more than reasonable. Gina's is the best breakfast in the area. It is dependable, tasty, and not very expensive. We have eaten so many things off the menu that it is hard to write about them all. What a place! Their menu is bulletproof! I have never had a bad meal here. They do a great business and I'm always bummed when they are closed during the holidays and of course on Monday's. Found this restaurant on Yelp looking for a new place to have breakfast with the fam,... And Yelp didn't disappoint. I've driven right by this place 3 times a week for years without knowing it was there,... And if the reviews weren't so high, I would've continued right on by. But this place is truly a gem. The inside is super clean with great decor (if a bit light on space) and absolutely amazing/friendly staff,...despite it's non-descript, semi-grungy location. The breakfast menu was extensive, with several specials to choose from (my favorite being the rather deliciously spicy Hungarian omelette), the skillets were good with choice of hash browns or home fries (but I always prefer diced fried potatoes. ;),.. And my daughters love there waffles. Lots of juice options, flavored coffees, teas to choose from. (The English toffee coffee is a must try). As well as a selection of different toast... Including Traverse City cherry toast! Since this find,... We've been going about 2-3 weekends a month and will continue to come back. Warning: you may have to wait for a table,... This place is too good not to constantly have customers waiting. But the wait isn't terribly long. Although, in retrospect,... If I didn't review this place,.... You'd never know about it,... Small but really good food. Nice waitstaff. Sometimes you have to wait for a seat but it's worth it if you really like breakfast lunch or brunch. I get the country fried steak and eggs. It's really the best I have tasted around here. The bread selections are really off the chart. I like the MI Apple toast, mmm. Get there before 3pm though or you will be out of luck. This place is a hidden gem. I never had heard of it until this past year but I can't get enough of the food. I love the corn beef hash, the home style fries extra crispy, the specialty drinks and this season's pumpkin cream cheese French toast. I hate French toast and most sweet breakfast foods, but when I saw the table next to me get it I ordered it and ate my plate clean. When you go there is a line out the door and people will wait because the food and the service is that good. I love that the food is always hot and not just warm. Great food. I had chicken fried steak and eggs. My husband had the crab Bennie. Both fast and delicious. Service was great our waitress recommended food since it was our first time there. First time at Gina's Café. Drove with one friend and was meeting another. They would not seat us until our third friend arrived. So, while we stood there waiting, we watched all the large booths fill up with customers. They were allowing two people to sit at a large booth when there were booths made for two people available. No one else was asked if their whole party was there. Just told to grab a seat. So imagine we are standing by the door and all the booths get filled (there were 3 available when we arrived). I asked to speak with a manager and she said there was nothing she could do. I'm shocked the owner of this establishment thinks that this is good business practice.Ridiculous! I will never step in there again. Ended up going to Travis down the street and had a wonderful breakfast with a very friendly wait staff. It's obvious Gina's Cafe is all about turning over tables and Customer Service is low on their list of priorities. They lost 3 families of customers and all the friends we will tell. read more

First time visit and we really enjoyed all of our breakfast dishes. At first the line was discouraging but the people in line told us it was worth the wait, I only waited maybe 15min. I have made it a point to try a different place for breakfast every weekend. Even thought about writing a blog about my experiences. No one place has had it all. Some have a good value, but grouchy waitresses, some places the food was hot but the prices were not. On our first visit I was pleasantly surprised to find that the food was hot, the staff was smiling and the prices were in line with most places. I usually try to get the same thing every place I go so I can make a fair comparison. Gina's toast had just the right amount of butter. The hash browns were actually brown and were cooked just the way I like them. The ham, bacon and sausage were also very good. If I could change anything about this restaurant it would be this. They have mocha's, cappaccinos and there regular coffee is from Becharas brothers. It is very good local coffee. It would be great though if they had a breakfast blend and a dark roast. More restaurants need to start offering this. I would even pay a little more for a dark roast. I will definitely be back and perhaps my search for a perfect breakfast place has ended. read more

Chicken noodle soup was mushy thin spaghetti noodles in tasteless broth with very few carrots or celery. Heard many great things about this restaurant so when I had a cold decided I could use some delicious soup. Since I heard many good things about Gina's ordered a quart to go. We came to ginas for breakfast and first had to request a waitress. We ordered two omelettes one with pancakes. The pancakes tasted like rubber and the waitress never brought our toast. Our waitress was Heather. She didn't seem to happy with her job. She wasn't very friendly and was not very apologetic for HER mistake. They were very busy but that does not constitute bad service or half cooked food. The reason they did receive two stars was because their omlettes were really tasty. read more

I actually really liked this place.. there is fun blackboard paint on the walls for you to draw on, and the menus are also written up in chalk.. I always like that cause it gives it a school art class type of feel for me. The restaurant is small and not the nicest one I've ever been in, but it's clean and quiet and I felt comfortable. I think the best thing about my lunch was the fact that it was only $6.00, and included a shrimp basket, fries, and chicken noodle soup. At first I was afraid the shrimp would be a tiny little bunch, again judging by the price, but in reality I got a nice handful of them, and the crust was thick and crispy, with a good flavor. The fries were pretty standard, but also enjoyable. The chicken soup was as bit salty, but again enjoyable. I think my lunch was quite satisfying and tasty for $6.00 =) I debated for a while to give it 3 or 4 stars, and I was leaning more towards 4... but at the end of the day, even though I would def recommend this place and I'll def come back again, the flavors weren't amazing enough to me to put it with other places that I'm a fan of that I've assigned 4 stars. I have been going here for the last couple of years. The staff is pretty amazing and Gina herself is awesome. There breakfast is the absolute best and no one compares to them. It is a nice clean little place. The prices are good and yes they do open at 7:30am. If you have never gone here before, I highly recommend that you do go and try Gina's out. We were looking for a place to grab some food after a charity bike ride near Metro Beach. This place came up on Yelp, so we gave it a try. It's a little hole-in-the-wall place, but the menu is pretty big and the food is great! They have Italian Soda with a laundry list of different flavors. My wife and I each had sandwiches which were really good. The onion rings were very good as well. The breakfast menu looked awesome as well. We'll definitely be going back to try out some of their different takes on Eggs Benedict. read more

This place is a little hidden gem. The food is low-priced, quality dishes. I've seen some negative reviews over (slight) price increases, that's the increased cost of minimum wage people. The food is very good, decent quality especially at the (still rather low) prices. If you are seriously complaining about seafood dishes that cost 10$ instead of 8-9$, don't eat out then. This place is very good, very reasonably priced, and the service (at least in the morning, never gone during lunch hours) is excellent. The hollandaise sauce was actually a bit too RICH tasting for me, and at a fairly cheap diner style restaurant that was truly unexpected. If you're a big fan of eggs Benny (I'm not) they will have the best options for you here. It's basically a slightly better LeAndo's Cafe for cheaper, so just come try it and see if you like it or not. read more

I called in a huge lunch order, after i picked it up and got to work, I notice a couple of menu items not in the back. i called and complained, she mentioned that she didnt charge me. i said ok, but i ordered t0hose items. I had to go back and pick it up[ and the manager didnt apologize at all. When my coworkers ate we n oticed the fish was raw, pickles were old and wimpy so my coworkers didnt eat. I dont think the owner cares about customer service at all. My office will never spend a penny a ginas again. read more

I was really ticked at this place because I tried to go there and they were closed for a month. After waiting a long time to eat there and in 25 minutes to eat breakfast it was pretty damn good. The food at Gina's is so so so good, but the service there comes up way too short. How busy the restaurant is doesnt even play a factor, every time I eat here(i keep going back for the food) my server takes my order, brings my food, my drinks, and the bill without a smile, and she never checks back to make sure everything was okay. not smiling at your guests or at least asking them how they're doing when you greet the table leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth about this place. i think i'll be getting carry out from now on read more

I recently went into Ginas to pick up a carry out my wife ordered, i was on my way home from a few errands so i arrived a little early. While i waited for my food i had a seat at the bar and over heard the waitresses in the back talking about how drunk they were the night before. Call me old fashion, but happened to professionalism in the work place? As a customer I do not want to hear about how hard it was to get out of bed in the morning and arrive at work. As highly disappointing as that was, i was blown away when i witnessed one of the waitresses drop a piece of bacon on the floor and place it back on the plate before serving it the customer waiting at the table. That visit is the last visit that i will be making to Ginas cafe, ever! I am so highly disappointed as this is a place my wife and I enjoyed for some time now. read more

Do not bother going if the owner gina is there. Today I went to Gina's with my wife for breakfast and had a horrible exp. first let me say I have been here over 100 times the food not always great but my regular waitress is nice and knows how I like my food. Today I did my same Odder runny eggs extra well done hash browns no toast. Gina brought food hash browns not even close so after a small discussion so had them re cooked but left my eggs to get cold on table. Not wanting to make a scene I went to register to pay and asked fit her to take off bill. She refused so I paid and left quietly called from parking lit asking to speak to owner that ended up being my waitress Gina about 5 ' 6 blonde high lights in brown hair. (Not normal one) who hung up phone on me. Then I drive back and and was told to leave or they would call cops I stayed and demanded a refund as I should have got in first place. Place not very clean obvious money is tight bathrooms are horrible follies not mopped and I just checked Macomb county Heath dept. they have issues. Besides all that she brings her children to work daily and he had actually sat at my table bothering me. read more

haven't had anything there that wasn't fresh good and served with a smile. the hollandaise is a real treat. been there a dozen times at least brought mom kids and grandkid all at different times and always great. have to say we are fans of the breakfast menu. .everything excellent the crab cake on cornmeal waffles hollandaise puts you in that good mood and the omelet with fresh asparagus..I'm hungry just thinking about it. so worth the wait and quite a bargain for the quality of ingredients and the cheerful and wonderful service we have never been disappointed real gem hidden in our little community. thank you for being so consistently delicious read more
