A group of friends and I came for a reunion lunch on a Saturday. The place was EMPTY! We ordered the appetizer platter which had all our favorites. It's a LARGE platter, but yum! The best were the mozz sticks, but the chicken fingers were hard and dry. We also split a small special stuffed pizza. The crust wasn't as delish as I had remembered, but it still hit the spot. Called in an order for a memorial lunch, and picked up for carry out. The order process, online, was decent. My wife was able to place an order, including using a discount, on a tablet with only a little fudging around to figure things out. One you've gone through the process once, this seems to be a great way to see the pizza / ingredient options and place an order. I came at the early end of the pickup window, and the four pizzas were ready to go at the early end of that time. We ordered both deep dish and thin crust, and all came out hot. The crew was helpful and upbeat, and made my few minutes there go quickly while they tended other customers and orders. It seemed like an efficient place. The flavors were great! We had just over 20 people for lunch, and everyone loved the pizzas - especially those from Chicago who have moved out of state and miss Giordano's. Not all Giordanos are created equal. This location was not very good compared to the 3 others I've been to. Wings came out well overdone, I ate them because I'm pregnant and couldn't wait forever for another order to come out right, but they were hard to chew and disappointing. The bruschetta was good. The pizza was just okay. It was missing something... The highlight of the meal was the salad. That was delicious. The service was alright. A little slow. Mind you, this place was deserted. We order from this location a lot. Today, we ordered one deep dish spinach and mushroom and one thin crust pepperoni pizza. The deep dish was practically just raw dough, and the thin crust was cooked to perfection. It was the second time in a row our deep dish came raw, so we called up and the manager was very nice. He pretty much said If they were to send another deep dish to our house it would be the same, as Giordano's top crust is apparently never fully cooked, "as it is cooked at 400 degrees for forty minutes so corporate says it's fine and to keep selling them this way" because of this they sent us another thin crust. We appreciated this, as it is clearly corporates decision to keep the deep dish this way. K would definitely recommend the thin crust!! read more

I have been to this location several times. The service and food have always been consistent. The service is amazing. These people must be saints. I always go here with my giant family and the servers are gracious enough to put up with 15 loud and demanding guests. The food is amazing! So disappointing. Ordered pizza via online to have it delivered by 130pm. Never should up. Waited for 10 mins and got the runaround. They said it was on its way. Waited another 10 mins before placing the second call. I got hung up. Then placed a call and asked for manager only to be called a lair. He basically told me I was lying and it was delivered. Little does he know as I sat outside only to wait. Worst experience and asked him to cancel my order. He continued with his negative remarks and calling me a lair. I will never go back there again. Whenever my family orders pizza, the question is always, "Lou Malnati's or Giordano's?" While I would never turn down either, my vote is for Giordano's. You might think that's blasphemy, but there's a couple things about Giordano's pizza that really just make it for me. First, I like that the crust is a little bit softer than at Malnati's. And there's the whole "deep dish" vs. "stuffed pizza" thing. I just love the thin, gooey crust on top of a Giordano's pizza. I also think the sauce is a little more flavorful here, though Malnati's does get points for the actual chunks of tomato. And of course, Giordano's spinach pizza is just perfect. I mean, it's delicious, and it has vegetables in it so it's healthy or something! I've only eaten at the restaurant once or twice, and this was probably over a decade ago, so I can't really comment on the service. We typically get take-out, and there's never been any problems with it. The pizzas have always been ready on time and nice and warm. Yes, they take a while to make but it's definitely worth the wait. read more

So having not eaten at a Giordano's for over a decade, I wanted to introduce my party to some variety of deep dish pizzas that didn't fall into the 'cornbread crust' variety that we typically love. I have to say, I was very unimpressed. I remembered the dough to be a heck of a lot flakier in the past. What I ate was a thick chunk of bread with a lot of cheese (expected), mediocre sauce (expected), and a very spartan use of toppings (unexpected). I felt like I had to dig through the cheese to find a topping. As for service, the place was empty when I ate, and my server did a fine job, especially as I had pre-ordered the pizza so as not to have to wait 35 minutes. To sum it up, my party ate half of the pizza and no one decided to take the rest home......enough said. read more

What a let down. I used to like this restaurant and came here for about 7/8 years. I gave this restaurant about 7 chances to turn around. The staff had been rude on several occasions, the food had been on the RAW side the prices are way out of line and twice they got the order wrong and tried to blame us. They didn't know we NEVER order what they wrote down. We now go to Lou Malnotise right down the street. We did not like going to Lou,s because it's always so crowded but now we know why. Been to Giordano's over the past few years several times, not sure why I didn't write this review sooner. My daughter had her birthday dinner there this past Saturday evening. From the beginning, George was very accommodating and was true to his word that "We will take care of you".  He sure did. He and his staff were fantastic. They went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. Anna and Jeff in the rest of the staff really made us feel comfortable. What happened to Giordano's? We ordered 3 deep dish pizzas on Saturday even though the guy on the phone was borderline rude. We have always picked up in the past but this time we needed delivery. Sorry no, but we live 10 min away? I was very excited to have my out of town guests a true Chicago deep dish experience, but there was half the toppings than we have had in the past. A slice of a small pepperoni had no pepperoni on it. The sauce was still good and luckily there is no bad pizza. It is easy to tell this restaurant is under new management. The new owners are making this Giordano's location THE place to eat in Buffalo Grove. There is an even greater focus on taking care of the customers and on quality of the product than before. Giordano's was already one of my favorite places to get pizza ever since my days in school in Champaign. Now it's at the top of my list. I live quite a ways away from here, but my work brings me to the area from time to time. One of the new owners taught me a neat trick. Order a stuffed pizza and request that it be cooked part way. I love the Giordanos on Rush Street in downtown Chicago, but I was sorry to learn all Giordano's are not created equal. I ordered a pizza and salad for delivery and was told my pizza would be there in 60-75 minutes. After 90 minutes I finally called the store and they told me the driver had been out for 45 minutes and had to make other stops, but should be there soon. I asked whether pizza could stay hot that long and I was assured it could. When the driver finally arrived 10 minutes later (an hour and 40 minutes after I placed the order), he called the wrong number multiple times - despite me being very clear about my direct dial number when I placed the order. I am now stuck with cold, stale pizza with cheese that tastes like Band-aids. This is my second attempt at ordering a pizza for delivery from this Giordano's and it will be my last. Sadly, this will be my last time placing an order here. Tonight my family ordered a large stuffed pizza, family size salad and dessert. We have noticed some changes for the worse but hoped it would turn around. Tonight the pizza had no taste what-so-ever. The crust had a stale taste to it, the onions on the pizza were still hard as if they were not cooked, the sausage still had pink in it...undercooked and the dough was not cooked. It was still "mushy". The salad had some brown spots on the lettuce and there were 3 tomatoes on a family size salad. The dessert was 3 mini cannolis. No flavor and stale. Now our bill was over $50 and 90% of it was thrown away. What a complete waste. Might not be a lot of money for some but it is for us. Called but the manager was not available. Go figure. Enjoyed a not so epic pizza here at the famous giordano's. The pizza was ok, not the broke da mouth experience I was expecting. I know being from Hawaii who is only know for Hawaiian food, is why this review is good. I've been to other pizza joints around this great state of Illinois and couldn't give it the 5 stars that would have made this experience epic. I'm not sure why Giordano's exists when there's Lou Malnati's nearby. The prices here are a bit too expensive given the size of your food compared to Lou's and the staff are not the friendliest. I've been here twice with my family and it's never gone well, which pushes us away. The deep dish pizza is good, but not as good as it could be. The first time we ordered carry out, it took nearly an hour to come out! Fair enough, it's a freshly made pizza, but it was lukewarm by the time we made it home and the cheese wasn't the kind of gooey and hot that makes you drool as you pull a slice out. While waiting for the pizza, we were told to sit in an awkward corner of old chairs while watching the staff wander about a nearly empty dining area. I'm not sure why people don't really come in, but it could be due to the not too family friendly decor that reminds of run down Buca di Beppo. It's dimly lit (could barely read the menu), and the furniture screams old, not vintage, which is what I assume they were going for. Still, for a starving family of four, it was pretty good to eat. Sadly, for a large pizza, there weren't any leftovers like how a large at Lou's will leave us. I'm also not a fan of the sauce though because it's very liquid and bleeds out of the pizza. The second visit was today, and I decided to give Giordano's two stars because the staff aren't that friendly. Whereas Lou Malnati's is packed and the staff have to rush, they at least find the time to offer a smile and water to people waiting to carry out. Meanwhile, the staff at Giordano's seem uninterested, stand there, and just want to get out of their shift. Bad experience rant coming up, you have been warned. I know in the suburbs, places tend to close around 9, but hoping to get some yummy deep dish for a graduation dinner, I hopped onto Yelp and looked for pizza places open late. Lou Malnati's and Giordano's came up, but because it was a graduation night, I figured Lou's would be packed and way to busy so why not try Giordano's? According to Yelp, it's open until 9:30 on weeknights! Awesome. I drive up to the large, eerily empty parking lot (shouldn't they be busy? It's a night where a lot of families will be out celebrating) and see the open sign is off. Did I make a mistake? I check Yelp again - 9:30 - open now! I look in the window to see an empty dining room with a single table of people sitting down. The time is 8:50 on my phone and in my car. This confuses me so I park and walk up to the door - the sign even says open until 9:30. At this point, I thought maybe I should just give up and wait at Lou's down the block, but I was there so I pulled on the door. Walking in, I was greeted to a deathly empty restaurant with only a single table of four eating pizza and a grumpy cashier. The exchange went like this: I asked if they were still open and I get a deadpan, "No. We're closed." "But your sign says open until 9:30. Do you mean the sit down area is closed?" "We're closed." "Could I get a pizza to go?" Cue uncomfortably long silence while she stares at me with pursed lips and eyes that burn with contempt. "No." "But your sign says 9:30? Could I do any kind of carry out?" She looks away to focus on the lone table of diners and I have a feeling I'm being ignored. Awkward. "Oh. Uh...have a good night." I leave and she stares apathetically. I couldn't believe that happened as I sat in my car. I called my parents who were surprised they would turn away a customer and close long before the posted time. They drove the rest of my family home while I decided to save money and satisfy my pizza cravings by going to Lou's where they got my piping hot pizza and appetizers ready to go in 30 minutes while being packed full of families. I am Sicilian. What grandma made and mom duplicated is what I call real Chicago pizza. Grandma arrived in Chicago in 1923 along with a few other Sicilians. I make a great deep dish using a cast iron skillet that improves upon my heritage. I like pizza! What Giordano's makes is good, so is Gino's East, so is Joe's thin crust. Life is not boring in Chicago. You can have it how ever you like it. I eat Giordano's more often but I like to rotate; thin, thick, deep, flakey or chewing. I rarely meet a pizza I do not like except if it cooked in 15 minutes or less it is not pizza. Don't know what they call those fast food disc shape things but it is not pizza. read more

This place is declining in food quality and service. When we ate there today the restaurant was only 10% full. No wonder no one eats here anymore Our pizza was room temperature which explains why it took so long for it to come out. It was probably sitting in the back for 10 minutes while our waitress chatted with her little friends next to the cash register. When she finally wrapped up her conversation, she brought our pizza to the table. Won't be going back to this location anymore. I'll give it two more years and they'll close the business down because there isn't enough people who eat here. Management at this location needs to get their act together. Been a huge Giordano's fan over 25 years. There are clearly reasons this location is usually near empty while nearby Lou's is always packed. Service is awful-- clearly short-staffed. Had to ask multiple times for drink refills. It also appears that the "large" stuffed pizza has been skinnied down a bit. Individual slices are clearly smaller than in the past. Just like 64oz orange juice cartons are now 59oz. Totally prefer their pizza to Lou's, but unfortunately will only consider this location for carry-out. Hopefully it's just this location. Still 4-5 stars for pizza, but 1-2 stars for service. read more

The best pizza delivery I have ever had in my life. Giordano's does deep dish in a way I've never experienced before- the crust is reminiscent of cake, buttery and subtly sweet. It is obvious that high quality ingredients were used, even the basic pizza is amazing with the super fresh cheese and tomato that is used within. This is the place is where I spring for whenever I need a break from my low carb diet! I would say the only downside is the agonizingly slow delivery, but it is well worth the wait. read more

We always get the mozzarella sticks and garlic bread to start off. Mozzarella sticks are pretty typical but there is something about the garlic bread, it has so much flavor. From there we get some sort of stuffed deep dish pizza. It is consistently made well. It has good flavor, not too many tomato chunks (which I like) and it is very cheesy. Bottom line is that this is pretty good deep dish pizza, maybe not the best, but pretty good. It does take a while to cook so be prepared to wait and try to get your order in right away. read more

Such poor customer service! The delivery driver kept on "looking" for the location and he left even though I told him to wait but he left! And didn't answer my call. When I called the manager in store, he hung up on me then I called back and he was the rudest person I've spoken to. I've never tasted pizza SO good! This pizza is phenom! I just got their cheese deep dish pizza but oh.my.goodness, it was amazing! The cheese was literally goo-ing out after cutting into it. They have two layers of dough topped with two layer of cheese and sauce on top. The only thing I would suggest, don't let them con you into their speedy lunch service, where it only takes 15 mins. Wait the 30 mins for the actually fully cooked pizza, the oozing cheese is totally worth it! read more
