Stopped here for dinner on a Saturday evening and we only had to wait for about 10 minutes. Our server was nice and friendly and everything we ordered was great! We did the appetizer sampler and the wings and cheese triangles are bomb. Our server was kind and told us that if we were ordering a deep dish, which we did, that we should put it in asap because it takes about 45 minutes to bake, which we appreciated because that gave us the idea to order and appetizer while we waited. We ordered the meat deep dish and is was so good! I'm not typically a deep dish fan because there's so much sauce and cheese, but this was a good balance of sauce and cheese! I had no idea there was a location in Ohio! I fell in love with this place after discovering it in Chicago. The pizza is my favorite of all time, just the regular cheese deep dish. This place was great. I've been wanting to try it for awhile and I finally got to today. So first, they have a lunch special. It's a personal deep dish and a side. I got that and a drink for $10.50 total. I ordered this online and they estimated a certain time and it was ready when I got there. That's a huge thing for me since I am on my lunch break. The service was great. I didn't have a whole lot of interaction with anyone since I'd paid online and was just picking up an online order. The dining area seemed clean and there's plenty of parking. The pizza was pretty great. I've had Lou Malnati's in Chicago a few times and this is pretty comparable. I recommend! Updated review as of 9/16/17 thanks to an invitation to try Giordano's again: We received an email from the local GM acknowledging our rough first experience with an invitation to return and a kind offer for a credit. We thanked him and said we would be back returning last night. A recap of our experience round two: Pros: We hit the bar right at 430 when the OSU game started. The dining room was packed but we were able to snag seats comfortably Mario. Enough said. He was AWESOME and helped get us started with cocktails and taking our orders promptly. We would return if it were only for Mario. He was that great. Sad thing is his shift ended at 5 but for 30 min we experienced awesomeness. When we placed our two salad order he offered a cheaper solution by ordering the one larger order saving a few bucks. We ordered the thin chewy crust (middle option after the deep pie and thin crispy) and he went into some helpful tips advising while the deep dishes run 1 hr/15 min on average this should be quicker as it's not a deep dish but it will take time depending on the kitchen and what's a head of us in orders. Again - CONTEXT and very helpful. He quotes 27 min. It was more like 40 min and it was more than ok given the care he gave us and helped set our expectations. Italiano salads were terrific. Best dressing and ingredients. Medium special pie with banana peppers added. We were offered condiments on top. Perfect dinner with plenty to take home. Looking back at the receipt now it was run up as a "make your own" which looks to be a dollar more than what would have been as we asked plus the banana peppers. Not sure what happened but it's a buck. Over it. Ladies room was clean this time around. Cons: Nothing that comes to mind at this point. It got busier when we were checking out and to be fair there was a decent amount of pie sitting there so while it took time for the new bartender to offer to box it up she was most likely being respectful thinking we were still working at it. For me, the deep dish pizza is NOT worth the wait. I've been there twice, and not only are they are incredibly slow; The two times I went, the restaurant was empty. Our servers were not attentive, for instance, checking to see if we wanted more water, or maybe changed our mind about getting an appetizer. We have to give this a composite score of 4: 5 for our server, Danny, but just a 3 for the deep-dish pizza. With Mitchell growing up in Chicago we can't make a trip there without Giordano's, or other Chicago tradition, being our 2nd stop. I think the 2 of us agree it's the sauce, flavor & amount, which missed the mark Danny was great on updating us on when to expect our pizza but I have to say that an hour was too long. It's expected with the volume at the Chicago locations but not here in Columbus. Danny recognized this and did the coolest thing...he brought 3 balls of dough for the kids to play with at the table next to us! I know, another 5 star review. What can I say? It was great. These Columbus pizza spots claiming deep dish Chicago, are going to have to put that thick crust imitation away. I'm a thin crust snob. I had G's DD pizza years ago in Chicago and loved it. Imagine a dessert pie with sauce, cheese, and filling. The top crust gets a second slathering of sauce. Baked for lasagna long time, about 35-45min. A party of 8 on a Wednesday evening was not the ordeal we had anticipated. We checked in, and ordered some deep dish pizzas. We were seated within 10min, and ordered up some drinks, apps, and salads(family style). The thin crust Chicken Pesto, and Spinach Artichoke & Feta pizzas were delicious. I love that clipboard thin crispy crust, with the flaky, buttery bite. Bruschetta is great, but it's hard to mess up with such great fresh ingredients. I wonder if they bake their own bread for garlic bread, and sandwiches. BTW it will be a heaping portion. Calamari is fried with veggies. That's right, green beans, lemon rings, banana peppers, and shaved fennel on top. Salads come in 3 sizes. The house salad is a mix of greens and tomato's drizzled in a lemon vinaigrette, with lots of shaved Asiago cheese on top. This is a nice accompaniment, but WOW this Chicago Chopped salad is a great meal unto itself. The deep dish pizza is true and on point. Their only true DD pizza completion in town is going to be Uno's. But I don't feel Uno's is on the same level of ingredients. G's crust had great flavor, with a thickness of standard cardboard. Now where the upper and lower crust are pinched together in pie fashion, you get that 1" thick part. You can even order more dipping sauce for +.50 . You see those pictures of the cheese stretching? That's what real cheese looks like. That snap-back cheese you have been eating contains the word "blend or imitation". A big plus for me is the taste of the sauce. Thank goodness it was not sweet sauce. It's not chunky, not smooth, but very minor thickness, like little BB chunks. OK, now for the little things. Hardwood tables, no tablecloths. Small 2 person padded red leather booths. Metal with wood seat chairs(sturdy but hard). Firm metal silverware. Nice big thick paper napkins. Great plating. Condiments on the table. Pizza pedestal on every table. 7" carryout boxes are the perfect size to fit in the fridge. Glass pint glasses for beverages. FIRST TRIP TO CBUS LOCATION: Warning! ::::: "Ok, we'll put your pizza order in and that will be ready in 45 minutes to an HOUR" EXPECTATIONS: Eager to connect with nostalgia, I went here because of fond memories of family pizza gatherings we did every year in Chicago on Black Friday after our entire family would take the train into Chicago, shop all morning and meetup at the real Giodorno's to wrap up or excursion. It ended up feeling like a trip to Jamaica. VISUAL: The franchise here isn't the family environment that Shy-town held, with a mix if international travelers. Our new franchised location holds a pop-culture Auto-Cad rendering of mostly metal chairs at their tables, with red seats and a few sparse booths if you can snag one at a window. The complete lack of ANY PICTURES on their menus and new servers still not that familiar with the history of the franchise, revealed the skeleton crew that was trying to manage a new opening. BAR AREA: The atmosphere at the bar hidden in the back behind the entry felt like a holding pattern for servers and not a place to enjoy libations with friends. A few of these characters might be fresh out of Maximum Security prison. I was fortunate enough to do a sneak peek before opening and tried MANY menu items! I'm gonna first start with the restaurant itself. There is ample parking as the restaurant is located in a strip mall so that should never be an issue. They do have some covered patio seating, but we were inside. The inside of the restaurant is nice. It's not too much or too fancy. It's clean, simple, modern. There are a few TVs, but not so many it's annoying. You can see into the kitchen and see what's going on with the folks making your food which I always like. Now onto the important thing- food! I had the chance to try "The Best" tomato bruschetta and let me tell you, it was my favorite thing of the whole night! No joke. I also got to try the loaded potato fritters and those too are delicious. The last appetizer I tried was the calamari. It comes out with fried green beans, lemon rings, and banana peppers. It was pretty tasty, but not fav. I'm not a huge calamari fan in general. Next I tried the chopped salad and it had so much going on with it, but it works. It's really, really good. It sounds heavy on the menu, but it really wasn't. I also tried the house salad and it was also delicious. It tasted really fresh and had a great presentation. I was also able to try two of their crispy extra thin crust pizza- the chicken pesto and the spinach, artichoke & feta. Both were good. I like the spinach/artichoke one better. It was actually really delicious. I would totally order an entire pizza of that! Now for the main attraction... the deep dish! I tried the plain cheese and the spinach deep dish. YAAAS PIZZA. I'm so excited about Giordano's opening! I've had it a few times when I've been to Chicago and no deep dish pie in Columbus has ever come close. The restaurant is beautiful and I feel like they aren't trying to be anything except a great pizza joint. Their beer and wine prices are super reasonable and they offer a nice, simple variety. We got the boneless buffalo chicken wings which were wonderful. Flavorful, crispy and not too spicy. Between the two of us, we shared a medium deep dish pizza - half sausage/pepperoni and half cheese - but took two pieces home. The service was great, which I know people can attribute to it being new to open. That's actually usually the opposite when restaurants open here, service is usually awful. You can tell they really trained their crew really well and genuinely want to see Giordano's succeed in Columbus. FINALLY CHICAGO DEEP DISH HAS COME TO COLUMBUS!!!!! Growing up in Chicago this is a much welcomed addition and will say they hit this out of tbe park. Great location, has the authentic feel of a Chicago Giordanos and the recipe is spot on. Being open less than a week there are still rough edges to smooth out ie service efficiency and the crust slightly over done....but these are things that come with practice. Buyer beware. We followed their quirky bizarre rules about ordering and their time windows. We ordered at 11:00am. We were given a window of 12:15 with a 15 min grace period which puts it at 12:30. We get there after the grace period and a worker there says that someone turned off their ovens and it's going to put an additional 20 mins on the wait. We wait patiently but as we're waiting we steady see pizzas coming out being served to those who stood in line for hours before they opened to dine in. They either lied about the ovens or disregard those who called in for takeout. Pure chaos inside if dining in with odd pick up timeframes that include a National Call Center if you want to pick it up yourself. Finally got the pizza at 1:15 pm. They have the nerve to offer delivery which would probably take 3 days! Pizza is delicious but you have to go through hell and high water to get it! read more

I've had Giordano's in Chicago -- in fact, I look forward to having Giordano's when I go to Chicago - so I was very excited to hear that they had opened a restaurant on Polaris Parkway. My wife and I visited the restaurant during the period PRIOR to their grand opening and I think they were still doing some training and trying to work out the kinks in their system. Service itself was fine - the wait staff was professional and attentive. The pizza was very good - not quite up to the level of their Chicago restaurants but still very good. The biggest issue is the time it takes from when you order the pizza until when you get your pizza. The waitress warned us when we ordered that it would take 45 minutes to "make" our pizza. Her estimate was pretty spot on - we had our pizza within 50 minutes of placing our order but this still means you have a lot of dead time between your salad and your pizza. I have high hopes for Giordano's and look forward to visiting it again in another month or so when they have the kinks worked out. My friend and me had the small CHICAGO CLASSIC with Pepperoni, mushrooms, green peppers & onions; before that we shared the GIORDANO'S HOUSE SALAD with Spring greens, romaine, arugula, radicchio, baby tomatoes and shaved fennel tossed in our lemon vinaigrette with shaved asiago cheese. Having been to Lou Malnatis in Chicago, I was excited to spend my 34th birthday here for dinner and have Chicago-style pizza. When I arrived at 5pm on Thursday, there was a 50-60 hour wait. That was fine. While I waited for my husband to arrive, I got some gas, grabbed a sbux and moved my car to the edge of the parking lot. You'll see that the lot is constantly full and ppl are going in and out to get the bad news on the wait times and then leaving. To avoid my car getting dinged by the constant coming and going of people, I just moved it to the end of the lot. Parking spaces are small and you'll feel very close to the person parked next to you. My husband and I caught the end of happy hour which has some good deals for half off beer, wine and select appetizers. We grabbed some beers and put in an order of cheesy garlic bread at the bar while we waited on our table. We still had 20 minutes until our table should've been ready so we thought we had time. After we put our bread order in, I got a text that our table was ready so we asked to have it transferred. Note: our table was ready after 40 minutes so their estimates are a little off. Our waitress was fast greeting us and telling us to put in our pizza order now as the usual 35-minute cook time was taking a hour. We opted for a small (serves 2-3) with pepperoni and sausage. Our garlic bread then came to our table which was awesome! Super warm, extra cheesy and nice and garlicky. After we finished the bread we waited and waited AND WAITED for what seemed like an eternity. It was actually 70 minutes. At the 60 minute mark our waitress checked in to say she'd find out where our pizza was. She disappeared and came back 10 minutes later with it. Thank goodness bc I was ready to pass out from hunger on the floor. The pizza was hot, tasty but I just wasn't overly impressed. I thought the crust was dry (now I understand why almost every table around me didn't eat their crust and left it on their plates). The crust didn't have a ton of flavor either. The cheese, though, was good! You can tell they don't skimp here! We ate three pieces between the two of us and took the rest to go. Honestly, I don't know if I'll be back. The GOOD-The server was excellent! Very attentive, funny & kept our drinks full. PIZZA was GREAT! Fresh toppings. Oohey, Gooey cheese that melted when the pizza was cut. The BAD-The appetizers-calamari was boring, rubbery & bland. Devoid of any seasoning. The cheese triangles were also nothing to write Home about.....bland & overcooked. Why 1 STAR??? We got there a bit early so we had to wait, but our food was ready early, around 6:15. We live about 45 minutes away from this location, so we drove to get it rather than have it delivered. We went for one thing and one thing only: the famous Chicago deep dish pizza. We went with the "Meat and more Meat" (basically meat lovers) and loved it. The deep dish aspect of the pizza is beautiful perfection. The order of toppings is actually quite interesting (and works really well); from bottom to top: crust, meat, cheese, sauce, and more meat. Every aspect of the pizza, from crust to toppings, was high quality and fresh. The deep dish pizza takes 35-40 minutes to cook, so be prepared for a substantial but worthwhile wait after you order your food. This is absolutely a fun joint that will probably do very well in the thin-crust dominated Columbus pizza market. The pizza itself is exactly what you would expect - tons of cheese, good toppings and you feel like you got hit by a truck if you try to manage that extra slice. The restaurant was absolutely freezing and I saw more than one lady wearing their husbands jacket inside. Another thing that struck me as soon as I entered the restaurant was the unpleasant smell. Rather than that classic Italian restaurant aroma was a sort of rotten stink that hung on our entire time there. Maybe it's the new materials used in the buildout but it was definitely unpleasant. The staff was hit or miss in terms of hospitality. No doubt the are stressed and learning a lot but the woman at the front of house was particularly unpleasant. Eh....... I feel really bad if people really think this is the best Chicago can offer. We got in easy enough on a Saturday. I was expecting a very long wait, but it was more around the 15-20 minute range. Something that's helpful is that they offer to take your pizza order ahead of time while you're waiting, so you're not sitting forever once seated. Our server had a bit of a glazed over feel, like she had just been through one heck of a lunch/dinner rush, but it wasn't bad by any means. We ordered an appetizer, which left a lot to be desired. It was just your standard run of the mill frozen stuff and not really worth it, unless you're extremely famish and in need of sustenance before pizza arrival. The pizza also left a lot to be desired. I didn't even go crazy on this one, just kept it to a basic cheese deep dish. It neither reflected the goofy Chuckie Cheese esque pictures around the place of waiters standing on tables with long strings of cheese stretching, nor did the taste really live up to my expectations of a true Chicago style pizza. If you really enjoyed UNOs when they existed in the greater Columbus area, I believe you'll really enjoy Giordanos. While I was hopeful that the crust was made in house, as you'll see the kitchen folks slinging some dough--- It must only be for their thin crust items, as the dough I had was relative to biscuity type dough. One thing that really impresses me about restaurants do they have outstanding service. Just save that would be one of the least things that I can say about my experience at this restaurant as Not only was the general manager and the server great but the whole entire experience was good. Our food came out as fast as it could hot and delicious. The server continually check on us to make sure we were okay, if we need to drink even though we came in with our own smoothies and make sure that we were comfortable. It was outstanding and I will definitely not only return but recommend others to try this restaurant. My warning for anyone eating here is if you are not familiar with Giordano's Pizza please check out the menu before you go. One pizza can feed three or four people and it takes 45 minutes for them to cook. The server was professional enough to let us know that before we ordered but I already knew. As expected its a zoo as there is very little good deep dish in Columbus. Knowing how busy it was, I ordered online for pickup, ordered at 9am for 7pm pickup. I'm glad I had nothing to do this past Saturday afternoon, considering I spent nearly 3 hours at this place. But since I live about half an hour away, that makes it about 4 hours for this cringe-worthy experience... We arrived about 4:30pm on a Saturday afternoon, and the place was pretty packed already. After a few minutes the hostess informed it would be about a half hour wait, but it was first come first serve at the bar. Not ever visiting this location, we thought we should go to the bar, order an app and a drink, then get seated. We should have stayed at the bar! The bartender was very kind and friendly, I ordered a draft beer and we split some garlic cheesy bread. Both were fantastic, except my large beer was $8.25. Ouch. Oh well, I did order a craft beer so I wasn't too turned off by that. Just be aware that drinks are not cheap here. We were seated at the quoted wait time almost to the exact minute! Our server was very polite and explained the menu and how the pizzas were made, and then suggested some great items. He also said pizzas were taking about an hour to an hour and 15 minutes. When we ordered our medium pizza it was probably about 5:15. This is where it got a bit frustrating. There were 3 tables that came in after us. They all got their pizzas before us. One table ordered probably 6 pizzas! They all got their pizzas before we did, and we still waited about 20 minutes after they got theirs! When we asked why, our server said that they probably ordered the pizza ahead of time... "Oh really?", I replied. "I didn't know that was an option. So, next time I come in, how does that work? Do I call before I get here? Do I order the pizza at the hostess stand and then wait until I get a table?".... Blank stare.... The server replied, "Actually, I'm not sure how it works, deliveries are crazy, take out is crazy, we can only put so many pizzas in at one time, yours probably got caught between a big delivery/party/to-go order". I've been a server my whole life. This translates to, "sorry buddy, you are just a 2 top that ordered apps and drinks at the bar, so your check is measly compared to these bigger tables. I'm probably going to take care of them first and hopefully not forget to ring in your order". We got our pizza at about 7:00 (at least 1.5 hours after we ordered) and it was OK. A bit lukewarm, but honestly, the taste was solid. Exactly what you expect from a good deep dish pizza. The best I ever had? Nah, not by a longshot. But still very tasty. Or, was it so good because I was so damn hungry from waiting 2.5 hours at this point!!! We boxed up the rest and decided to leave. The server was nice enough to give us a discount for our troubles, but it was still not the best experience. When we were walking out, it was about 7:30. Three. Freaking. Hours. The server did say that during the week the wait times aren't as long. But very doubtful I will go out of my way for this place. I love Giordano's from my time in Chicago. So I was pretty excited on moving to Columbus that they have a location here. Unfortunately, after two experiences here, I won't be returning. The food isn't bad; not at the level of Chicago, but still decent. The customer experience just isn't acceptable. Easy to get to on the south side of Polaris Parkway east of I-71. Ample parking lot allowed for easy parking on a busy Friday night. Upon entering were immediately greeted by the hostess who informed is there was a 40 minute wait for a table. Ugh! In my own opinion no food is worth waiting that long, however she saved the trip by offering us seating at the bar which has full food service. Yes please! The bartender was busy but did a great job and got our drinks ASAP. The beer was cold and really good. Knowing the pizza takes a long time to bake, we ordered the boneless buffalo wings as an appetizer. They came out super fast and were really good! Speaking of appetizers, if my date wasn't so picky I would have ordered the calamari. I saw an order come out to a neighboring table and the serving was HUGE!! Now for the pizza.... Super yummy and super filling! They do not skimp on the cheese or toppings. Can't wait to return, but the only downside is the restaurant is a decent drive from where I live. read more

2 years later, it's still terrible. Watery undercooked pizza again that was 50 Minutes past due pickup time. Onion was raw and dough was way undercooked and mushy, gross. Food from another place we ordered from for our group was cold because of the wait at Giordanos. We were charged full price for bad service and bad food. Cannot compare with Chicago. They also need to stop using the, "we only have one oven" excuse. Clearly that needs to be rectified by now! Wont be back. Go to Tommy's pizza for some great Chicago style thin crust. Made it by for a lunch of deep dish pizza and subs. I have to say that I was happy with the Chicago Deep Dish style pizza like what I have had from Chi Town. Note this is not a thick crust/breaded pizza it is a real deep dish pie. The crust is thinner on the bottom than the toppings and so you do have to eat with a knife and fork. The crust is a golden brown texture with buttery taste and the toppings of sausage, pepperoni, and onion are covered in melted cheesy goodness with a layer of sauce on top. To pull this off it does take a little longer than the usual Columbus pizza and our waiter advised us that the current bake time is up to 45 minutes. During our wait I had a my italian sub and salad... should have asked to time that more with the pizza so I was still hungry when the pizza arrived but that is my bad and a note to you; dear reader. The sub had great meats and the right proportion of them, the dressing was flavorful and the bread was unique and not dried out. The salad was very good with the salad dressing full of flavor and very delicious. Unfortunately my daughter's chicken parmesan sub was a bit bland and did not really impress her and she is all about chicken parm! read more

Stopped to get pizza and it was tasty. They do personal ones every 15 min so those are quick - small and up are 45 min or more to cook. Don't pay attention to the people who complain about cooking times - these do take that long to cook since they are so thick and have to bake. This isn't a wood fired pizza. Not as good as yellow brick's Chicago style or pizza papalis in Detroit. Decent but $. read more

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! Finally some "REAL PIZZA" in Columbus Ohio!! I actually sat down to enjoy some original "Deep Dish" and also ordered "Thin Crust" as well,needless to say I was in Pizza Heaven.....Aaaaaahhhhhh. Such a immense burst of flavors as I escaped boring local versions of a slice and bit into some "Chicago's Finest" ....real hand stretched rolled dough,real fresh ingredients with real Italian seasoning and nice BIG pieces of sausage too. Aaaaaahhhh 4get about it....I felt like I was whisked back home to the Windy City skyline eating some "good eats" and enjoying each and every bite of deliciousness!! My son said this place was great. Tried to order online and had several issues. Wanted to order the thin crust artichoke, spinach, and feta pizza and add mushrooms. The pizza without mushrooms is $14.35 for a small. Adding mushrooms pushed it to over $20. Called and was told that the items on the menu are discounted, so if I customize any part of it, it is now a build your own and loses the discount price. Pizza was decent, but not remarkable. Okay so I'm no stranger to Chicago Deep Dish and this was not the same Giordanos I remember having in Chicago. I ordered the Special which was deep dish pizza with Sausage, onions and mushrooms. Unfortunately they messed up my order to where I received pepperoni which wasn't entirely bad except the pizza was not stuffed at all. There was hardly any pepperoni in it which was disappointing. I spoke to the manager about the mix up and he was very good and offered to make me a new pie but sadly I didn't have time so lunch was on him. The pizza was good but it needs to be on par with their namesake in Chicago. read more

4 stars for pizza. I have eaten at three of these including one in Chicago. Always consistent with their deep dish pizza. 2 stars for service - mostly because when you call the "local" phone number it is still managed by a call center. There is no indication about this. And they give you a window for pick up/ready time. This was off by 35+ mins for me and there were folks waiting for as much 45+ mins in addition to whatever original waiting time that was provided. The local staff throws that process under the bus and simply says well, it's an estimate. While I understand that, estimates shouldn't be off by 50%! I think weather forecasters are more accurate! read more

So the pizza and wings were good. The service was just ok l; we waited forever to get refills and our bill. We were warned about how long the pizza would take (an hour) and it's definitely something everyone should try once. We were not huge fans of the chunky sauce but loved the cheese & the crust was absolutely amazing. Next time I may get the deep dish minus the sauce. Really cool Atmosphere! Dry rub wings were fantastic but they don't have blue cheese :( read more
