If you can stomach the wait Giordano's is worth every minute of it! The only issue with the Polaris store is that there's two counters to choose from when you walk in and neither one is marked. I stood in line at the counter to the right and when I finally made it to the front I was told I had to wait at the other counter for pick up. Needless to say I wasn't very happy that the counters weren't marked. However, when I got the deep dish home all the anger dissipated because the pie was just that good! Food was great, but we had the rudest waiter I've ever met "Larry" was his name and he personally told me that my group was rude. We had a group of 8 with a couple of the girls who were loud, but he treated the whole group as if we pee'd in his coffee. I have never personally gone out of the way to review over a bad experience, but Larry seemed he was determined to make our experience awful, then treat us as if we're the bad guys. If you ever go here, and get a waiter named Larry, you're better off going to the Canes next door, I'm sure they'll treat you with some respect. read more

I now live in the Charlotte area, but when I got the news from my friends up North that there was a Giordano's in Columbus I knew that I had to make my way up there. Over the summer I took some of my pre- med classes at CSCC so this served the perfect opportunity to try it. I got the veggie and it was really good, however due to all of the veggies it got pretty soggy. The sogginess was my only complaint. Second experience was a take out order that they forgot a salad. Third experience we ordered ahead and made reservations for a table of eight, because I understand how long the pizza takes to cook. We were rewarded by waiting for 20 minutes past our reservation and I assume they made the pizza for the time we were supposed to be seated, since it was luke warm at best. Server was not there to refill drinks and had to be flagged down whenever someone needed . Gave them two stars instead of one, because our first experience was better. Just like the one I've been at in Chicago. It's very tasty and just what you'd expect for real Chicago deep dish pizza. You do need to know that if you do t call ahead you're going to have a very long wait! If you have kids with you, that wait may not be fun for the kids. We went the day after Christmas at 6pm and it was packed. We were still able to get a table pretty quickly and ordered our pizza and the pepperoni fries as an appetizer. The waiter let us know that it would be an hour wait for the pizza which was fine. Not long later, our pepperoni fries arrived, and they were super delicious! We finished them within no time leaving us to wait for the rest of the hour or so for our pizza. We waited and waited and saw the tables around us being cleared to other customers. After what felt like an eternity, we asked our server how much longer and he let us know that it was almost around the hour mark and he would go check. We were being patient and waited for another half hour or so and now we had probably been sitting there for 2 hours and the other tables around us were getting their pizzas even though they got there after we finished our appetizers. The manager came and let us know that our pizza had been sitting around for 45 minutes and was now in no condition to serve to us. Obviously we were upset so they offered us our meal free and $30 on them for the next visit at this location. I think that placated us but the experience kind of destroyed our date night. We had to wait an hour for pizza that was not hot! The pizza had water sitting on top of it. When you took a slice out water came out instead of sauce. The crust was extremely dry on the outside but uncooked on the inside. Manager said they don't serve frozen pizza which is what it tasted like. Being from NY I was of course skeptical about trying a pizza famous is Chicago that now has a location in Columbus, Ohio. But honestly this pizza is delicious. The sauce on top of the cheese, the crunchy crust, and the cheese just pulls away from the pizza like you would see in a commerical. I will 100% be coming back for more pizza and look forward to trying the rest of the menu. I will also be sure to bring my NY buddies here to try when they come to visit the area! Probably one of the best customers service encounters I have ever received. Our serve Kiki was SO fun and bubbly and had amazing recommendations for the menu. She outlined the menu perfectly and was so fun to chat with while we waited for our pizza and had a few drinks (cause obviously you have to get the deep dish and she was very up front that it takes at least 40 minutes to cook). She checked on us regularly and was just very pleasant to have as a server. THEN, we leave and the manager came out to the parking lot to return my chapstick.... CHAPSTICK. I feel like any regular place would've just tossed it but she went out of her way to do that and was very sweet. THERES MORE, so we sit there chit chatting for another minute in the parking lot and the manger comes out again to bring us our to-go box of pizza that we had forgotten. Staying at a hotel next to Giordanos Polaris. We Ordered a take out of Thin crust and also an extra thin pizza both in size small. My Husband walked over to pick up our order. When he Came back to room and I opened the boxes, both pizzas were the same. (No extra thin). We Did not want to walk back over so we just ate what we had. The Flavor is just ok. There was not really any pizza sauce on either pizza, Heavy on the cheese (which is not really a bad thing) but the toppings (which are under cheese) were sparse. I would not go back for pizza. We have tried to eat here twice. The first time there was 60 minute wait for an empty restaurant. The second time, this poor kid was trying to handle the front desk ALONE. How do you expect one high school kid to answer the phone (which rang off the hook), cash out carry out orders AND sit people?! You cannot do that to someone! When we were finally acknowledged, we were sat right away, but the wait started spilling out the door for the reason I mentioned above. We sat waiting for acknowledgement from a server for 15 minutes, not even a hello or a drink order or anything, and I know this pizza takes an hour to bake, I've been to one in Chicago several times. By the tome we would have actually RECEIVED our food, it would have been my kids bedtime, so with that, I left. Also, to the owners of this franchise, if you leave me some canned message in response to this review, it says volumes for your clear apathy toward service and the success of this restaurant. I am from Chicago. Grew up eating Giordano's on the South Side right off of the Dan Ryan and sometimes on Michigan Ave. Tastes nothing like the Original back home. The unique taste of the crust sets the tone for the pizza. Here at Polaris, crust was super dry and NOT tasty. Won't be having this pizza until I go back to Chicago. Sorry folks. Most people from Ohio think Chicago-style just means some extra crust and cheese. This pizza is completely different: it's huge - a couple inches thick, and the toppings are baked into the pizza. You need to try it to understand. I've eaten at this location twice. The first time required a 3-hour wait, not long after they opened. The second time there was no wait at all. Look, the pizza here is expensive, and it's probably not what you're used to. This is a really good Chicago style pizza. The wife, kids and I were in the general area for our anniversary and had heard about this place from my brother in law. I meant to write this last week. Last Friday 7/11 my family and I had taken some friends out to dinner at Giordano's. While we were eating someone hit our car in the parking lot..everything was fine and info was exchanged but the reason for this review is that the manager that night who I believe was Jason, though I could be wrong, not only seemed our table out and alerted us to the accident but on top of that comped one of our large pizzas for the inconvenience. He had no obligation to do that but he turned a unpleasant occurrence into a situation where we left his restaurant laughing and will definitely return. It's not much to a restaurant to comp $35..but that simple act guarantees that will happily spend more money there in the future. Very impressed..ohh and as always the pizza was awesome! read more

We decided to do an online order since we were driving through town. We were so excited that there was a location in Columbus because we don't have anything even close at home. Our pick up time was 6:30. We didn't get our food until 7:10. The salad was wilted from sitting on top of a hot pizza box for clearly a long time. The cheese on top was melted. We picked around quite a few pieces of brown lettuce. When we got home the cheese had already congealed - my guess is this pizza had been sitting for almost 40 minutes before they brought it out. The lobby was absolutely packed and the staff were not set up for success. At one point a little girl was almost caught in the rotating door. They clearly were overwhelmed by the task at hand and the manager in charge was just not assisting them. I got a personal pan pizza and the chopped salad. My only two complaints...1. Where was the sauce?! It's like they forgot it, making the pizza semi dry and 2. From a customer service standpoint it shouldn't take 4-5 minutes to greet someone when they walk-in. I'd go back for sure but if have to order extra sauce apparently. read more

First I want to say we are regulars at Giordano's and extremely patient, understanding and appreciative for the staff that is working during these times. I want those going now to know they are very understaffed. We waited 50 minutes for a table only to be told once seated our pizza would take another 1 hour and 45 minutes. We asked to speak to a manager just to say you should let people know that when they decide to wait for a table. Unfortunately the manager never came out, we politely told our server we were going to leave. I know people waiting for carryout we're getting pizzas up to an hour late. This place has a lot of good about it. We went about 1:00 on Labor Day Monday. It was busy but not SRO busy. We waited less than 10 minutes for a table to be prepared. We were seated but then had to ask for it to be wiped off again due to the crumbs left on the table. Then we had to ask again for the wiperag to use on the chair seats bc they wiped all the crumbs from the tabletop onto the chair seats. Not an auspicious start. Our server came and took our drink orders and let us peruse the menu. I was interested in trying their meatballs so we each ordered one with marinara sauce to be brought as quickly as possible. She brought it to us in about 7 minutes. It was amazing! The sauce definitely enhanced the flavor of the meatball but I would have eaten it naked with no problem! It was loosely packed beef and a real treat! I look forward to having a meatball sub the next time we eat here, bc there will definitely be a next time! Since we were there on a Monday and weren't going straight home, we didn't want leftovers so we each decided to order the lunch special. We both ordered the House Salad w their House lemon vinaigrette dressing, which was amazing! It had a mix of greens, shaved fennel & 3 different kinds of baby tomatoes! I loved it! He ordered the 6" Individual Sausage Stuffed Deep Dished pizza and I ordered the same except the pepperoni version. They were both good. He gave me a bite of sausage and it was really tasty! It had a little bit of a kick but not a lot. Very good! The sauce is amazing, the pepperoni was very good and the crust was good... especially if you like a lot of crust. I actually like a little less crust but I wanted to at least try the deep dish. I think where it went a little wrong for me was, in order to get that deep dish "bowl" on a 6", it's hard to get a lot of toppings in there. Think if we had gone with a larger size, there would have been more room for toppings. This is just my observation from looking around at other tables. So next time we will either get a larger pizza or a thinner crust, which they do offer. Oh great!
