Detroit style pies are not to be played with, like don't do it if you can't master it because getting the mass of dough cooked thoroughly throughout I empathize is tough but just like putting a steak on your menu, don't do it unless you're ready to cook it perfectly. The smell of this thing had me salivating, the look got me excited, but when I bit into it my heart immediately sank because it was not cooked through. I'm not talking soggy I'm saying raw dough, like major rookie move. It kills me because when I chowed through to the crust, where everything was cooked correctly, it was PERFECT. That's why I'm conflicted because the crust was FIRE; airy, fluffy, perfect everything tasted spot on but they effed up the cook through. I respect how challenging it is to master the delicate balance of that PERFECT THICK CRUST and some how magically making the center perfect too. I've had it and it's like a unicorn of pizza but I've also encountered this rawness so many times which is why I typically stay away from these types but I had gone to BELO a few nights prior which was terrible so I figured this spot could make up for it and it sure did but the raw dough really made me sad because this could've been a 5 star spot and I do want to go back though in disguise because I don't want them to spit on my pie for the 3 stars but I do want to revise this post, round 2, to 5 stars.

They had outdoor and indoor seating. Very extensive vegan menu. And the food was delicious. Literally no complaints. I would eat here every single day if I could lol also, this is somewhere where I could bring my toddlers and I don't think it would be a problem with them being toddlers. (Parents, you know what I mean) All jokes aside, one of the best vegan spots in New Jersey. Top 5.

One item was a cheesesteak. Seems simple, right? Well, ordering a meat item with a vegan cheese was waaaay too much for her. Literally couldn't wrap her head around it, we had to explain it like she was from another country. After a few minutes, we threw the complication of putting mushrooms on it. No mushrooms came on the cheesesteak, but tons of unordered peppers and onions. The person who got it in our party took ten minutes to make sure the onions and peppers were off, but even then, the flavor was so peppery and onion-y that you couldn't taste the already small amount of steak. But the kicker was the pizza order. Getting a large pie, we began telling the topping we wanted...only to get like four ingredients into the list to suddenly, rudely, be told they don't do that many toppings, it will ruin the pizza. (Scooby Doo head shaking WHAAA?!) Holy sacrificing your profit margin , Batman! Aren't they in business to sell what the customer wants? Couldn't find a way to maybe put the extra stuff we wanted on the side, then we could put it on later? It's mind boggling that the owners and managers don't put some kind of warning about that...seems like then you'd have a fallback for that occurring...but whotf does that, on any level? I guess the crust crumbles if too many toppings are chosen. The food is good, kinda unique. That said, so is having someone being rude in a service-oriented job. Read the other reviews, this feels to be a common element in people's experiences. Five stars for food, one for the multiple times (three different) I've had this happen here. Three overall seems fair, if not generous.

I want for lunch with my twin brother to take advantage of the half price eat in only on Thursday…read morespecial. I had the Double Trouble sub; Fried chicken cutlet, fried eggplant cutlets, buratta cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion. It was the best sub I've had in years. As good as anything from Brooklyn or Staten Island. This is scratch cooking. The chicken and eggplant were crispy hot. The bread slightly toasted in the oven. The buratta cheese melted on the hot cutlet. The veggies were fresh. It also came with additional salad greens, Cherry tomatos halved and onion. It took almost 15 minutes for my sandwich and twenty for my brother's shrimp scampi dish. Well worth the wait. As I said cooked from scratch. A younger couple came in after us and the gentleman commented on the size of my sandwich. I'm 71 and I had to take over half of it home; it was ginormous. You get an additional discount if you don't use your credit card. You can't beat the quality of the food, especially on the half price Thursday discount. They also have pizza discounts on Tuesday after 5PM. $8 for a large pie until 6PM. $10 from 6 to 7PM and $12 from 7 until 8Pm. You will not be disappointed. P.S. The staff is awesome!

They come with whipped ricotta and crostini. Each bite was nice and tender, super savory and melt in your mouth. Their honey mustard chicken wrap was a perfect harmony of sweet, tangy, and savory flavors. With the different textures, it gave a nice crunch. Perfect item for takeout for a work lunch! Peel is always creating speciality pizzas to try, so we tried the Bombshell pizza (April 2025)! This lives up to its name - it is fiery, oozing with passion, and an explosion of bold toppings (fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, Calabrian chili, hot cherry peppers). And of course, you can never go wrong with the vodka rigatoni. Their pasta was al Dente and the sauce was rich and creamy with just the right amount of heat. So comforting and irresistibly satisfying! We polished off the night with a yummy little brownie sundae. This satisfied our sweet tooth and was the perfect serving size after indulging in all these carbs. Peel is the ultimate comfort food spot. Whether you're dining in or taking it to go, this is a must try spot down the shore!
