I come here fairly often and am always happy with my nails and the experience! I came in Monday and got a gel manicure with Sally and unfortunately she went way overboard trimming my cuticles and I now have a very painful, swollen finger. I'm disappointed since I returned to this place since they are usually the most hygienic and efficient. Please be more careful! read more

Went in for a pedicure. Regular (as opposed to gel). $30 (which I think is very reasonable and a big selling point of why I'd come here somewhat regularly) $10 more for callus treatment (mine are pretty bad; it did make it smoother but it's going to need more treatment and of course maintenance). + Tip (bring cash for this). It didn't feel above and beyond but definitely felt good afterwards and I feel the price cannot be beat! (Disclaimer: I don't go to nail salons often) The ambience is comfortable and nice. Wonderful experience. I had to ditch my old salon as I was a bit skeptical of how clean they were after hearing a few complaints and I did not appreciate the attitudes too much. Gloss was amazing such a great treat. Exactly what nail salons should be like... calm and relaxing. Will no longer be coming here which is sad considering my first few experiences had been so great. This place has gone downhill when it comes to nail quality & customer service. During my most recent visit I felt rushed & uncomfortable. I went in for a nail color change & the girl who did it looked annoyed & completely rushed putting the new gloss color on my nails. The end result was so bad I had to ask her to redo them. There were bumps & streaks all over my nails I couldn't believe she felt comfortable leaving my nails like that. After the second try they still looked uneven & streaky but at that point I just wanted to leave & was over it. I ended up just going to a different nail salon right after to get my nails fixed which is sad considering all I wanted to begin with was a color change which is so simple & not asking a lot. This place needs to stop rushing their customers & focus on the entire experience they are giving their clients because after reading the most recent Yelp reviews this seems to be a repeated thing. read more

Decided to try this place near my house instead of my normal nail place because they specialize in gel x. Had an appointment when they first open at 10am, there were 5 other ladies with the same time. Had to wait about 30 mins until they got started on me which was something I didn't expect when you make an appointment. The tech that did my toes was very nice and detail with my feet. I like how they had different lengths and different shapes already sized to stick on which cut the time by quite a bit from what I was use to. The girl who did my gel x was really quick and efficient but the design wasn't quite what I asked for which was a bummer. The nails still came out cute and well done, just wasn't exactly what I envision. Was going for more a valentine vibe but y'all can be the judge! read more

The complimentary glass of champagne/mimosas are back! If that's your jam then make sure to ask for it because it's upon request only. Gloss was super accommodating and thorough when it came to booking an appointment for me and 3 of my girlfriends. Their customer svc was great and it looked like all of the staff were close which was nice to see :) Ruby did my french tip - dip finished with gel. She was fast but super focused and detail oriented, she did a great job! I didn't catch the name of the girl who did my pedicure. I just did regular white polish and she was great at the polish part but I paid extra for a massage and it just felt like...well... nothing. She didn't apply any pressure at all, but it also seemed like she was new. I was happy with how my pedicure came out, I just wish the massage was worth the extra money. My friend got her nails done by Kim and she did a great job as well! They also give you 10% off your first visit or if you leave a Yelp review which is always nice! All in all, I would come back and just request someone else for my pedicure if I wanted a massage. read more

I really, really wanted to like this place! But $165 later (not including tip) and I'm underwhelmed. Nails turned out cute from a distance, but subpar up close. Walk-in appointment on a Saturday - super nice to see they saw me quickly, given how busy they looked. I got both a mani + pedi, and the technicians were VERY quick in getting started. I gave them my inspiration for nails (below). Completely painless, super quick. I trusted the technicians and made small chat with my friend who came in with me, so (mistakenly) I only checked in once with the lady doing my hands. She asked me if the length was good, they looked fine, and she proceeded. When I left I was happy, but only because I hadn't taken a close look at them. It's been a week and since I got them done I've noticed the gelX wasn't applied close enough to my cuticles, so there's a noticeable gap; the extensions weren't fitted sidewall-to-sidewall also showing a noticeable gap. Just overall - a nice salon, polite and quick service, but for $160 I expect more attention to detail and 100% happiness with the result. If I go back, it'll be to get a normal manicure, not any extensions or other detailed designs. Get any "special occasion" nails done with an independent tech who will be invested in the details. read more

Updated my review, was told they waited at least 20 minutes past appointment. Also just sent them this message: You guys should not upsell teenagers. I dropped off my daughter and her friend for regular manicures and added Aroma so $30 each . When I go to pick up you guys have done acrylic and gel! $80 and $55 respectively. While the nail salon itself was nice, this review is for Tracy since my manicure was done by her. She worked way too quickly and was not friendly at all. I didn't like the way she made my nails look either; she left a large gap making it appear like my nails are grown out instead of looking freshly done for a longer time. It seems that this nail technician likes to speed through a service to book more clients in her day, so I wouldn't go back to her at all. It was my first time at Gloss Nail Spa and it was not that bad of an experience. I definitely would like to try it out again and see how it would compare to the first time. We had reservations for 2 PM and when we walked in it was very crowded. There was a line of people waiting to check in. Even with the reservation we had to wait about 15 minutes. I got a Gel X Mani with regular pedicure. I was so surprised to see how quickly she worked on my nails. Both manicure and pedicure took a total of one hour. Though my nails look great the job was done a little sloppily. They definitely rushed the entire time which did not give me the feeling of being pampered. Overall it is a clean salon and clearly very popular so I would have to try it again and see what the average rating would be. read more

I am never one to leave a bad review but I had to for this place. I loved the establishment itself but the nail tech I got was horrible. In the video I included was how she was the entire time. I get sending a text back but to be constantly on your phone investing or being on the stock market is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. A pedicure that easily takes maybe tops 30minutes took an hour because she kept getting up being on her phone in the back or she was on her phone while doing my pedicure. She was the only one out all of the nail techs in the salon to be on her phone. She then rushed my service and left my nails streaky. I was not rude I got up said thank you for everything paid and left. If I would've gotten any other nail tech this would be a very different review. Very unfortunate. read more

Made my appt for Sunday 3/27/22. Front desk service was fine but service was so uncomfortable and awkward with Tanya. I was really disappointed at how careless she was with the whole process. She tossed each finger as she went through it as if she had some kind of bitterness towards me. Angrily Buffing my nails then toss it it aside to continue angrily buffing the next nail. I've never felt so tense during a session. When asked to keep it short she sharply responded with a criticizing tone saying how short my nails were already. I kindly and calmly asked if she can clip my nail do that the the square cut wasn't slanted but she snapped back saying "I don't understand what you want me to do!". I she ended up doing it but did it with the most disapproving motion. French tip came out too thick for my thumb nail but honestly, the service was the worst part. I needed my nails done for a wedding this weekend and I am very unhappy. - Gel manicurist was clearly in a hurry, had to remind her that spots were missing - manicurist put my phone in her cart and forgot, then was leaving for the day and I had to remind her to not run off with my phone - Suggested I get two extensions on my broken nails, then proceeded to make them all uneven and got irritated when I asked her to try to match them - quoted me the wrong price for nail extensions ($5 each is a ripoff when you're already paying for gel - Pedicurist picked the wrong color even though I asked to match (talking light vs dark pink) - had to repaint my toe nails three times because they kept messing up - overcharged me for the wrong thing - the place was packed and loud with people yelling - kicked me out of the chair and into a waiting room with no seats the second they were done painting - gel manicure and deluxe spa pedicure took more than 2 hours... read more

After years of being a Gloss regular (in Pasadena and Silverlake) I'm so sad that I can no longer come here. When I got a callous removal with my last pedicure, something I do every time, the person working on me cut the skin on my heel! I felt it a little at the time but by the time I got home it was really sore and hurt so bad that I couldn't wear the shoes to the event that I got the pedicure for in the first place :( When I called to explain that this had happened they apologized and asked me to send a photo, which I did, and then I never heard back. I saw the reviews I saw their Instagram and I knew I had to come here. It's been almost a year since I've been coming to this place to get my nails done and they've exceeded all of my expectations. I get Gel X nails which last a long time if they are done properly. They're a bit pricey but I've had a set last me six weeks. I usually give samples of what I like and then let the nail artist decide what to do I'm not very particular about what does it design is. 3rd time at this place. Each time service was so rushed and 2 of the nail tech's extremely rude. Today I asked for almond shape and got whatever the lady doing my manicure felt like giving me. She rushed me out of the pedicure chair in such a rude way. Practically pushing me to hurry up. When I got to the manicure table station she tried to grab my hand to start my manicure while I was still trying to hang my purse and fix my sandals so the fresh polish would not get damaged. I think they highly dislike doing regular nails, meaning NO gel. I do not get gel because of the chemicals. I think this upsets them because they make less money on that person. Well today was horrible. The lady doing my manicure at one point asked me, does this look OK after she finish filing? I responded by telling her that 1 Nail needed to be filed more. Wow, she got really upset. She pushed my hand down and said you need to wait. Wait till I'm done. She really pissed the **** out of me, so I told her then why are you asking me. Then don't ask me. She said ok I will fix after. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS OVERRATED NAIL SHOP. Paid $90.00 for crappy looking nails. I can also do a better job filing than this lady. This nail tech should not pull on peoples hands and push them. Some people react when being physically mishandled and pulled this way. She should learn gentle hand manners. read more

I really wanted to like this place. It's modern, clean and is pleasantly decorated. There are plenty of colors to choose from. Parking is easy across the street where the first 90 min is free. Making an appointment was easy and they started on time. Note: they only do appointments by the hour. Another plus: The salon is only 15 minutes away from where I live. (Did I mention my current nail designer is moving to Orange County???) so I am looking for a new nail place. About the service: Wednesday morning service. Disclaimer : I had Japanese gels on and not everyone knows how to remove it as easily. I did mention that I had Japanese gel when making the appointment. I'm not sure if this is for all types of nails but my nail technician at gloss only used a mechanical file. At one point, she accidentally put the mechanical File on side of mail... that hurt. She was apologetic. The problem is she didn't take off all the existing gel. I'm used to someone filing down the gel and sliding off the gel completely giving my nail bed a clean slate. I have to say I've been wearing Japanese gels for years and they are relatively easy to take off as long it's properly soaked and cleaned. So what happened is that my nail beds had existing gel and finish look came out lumpy in several of the nails. On one finger, the gel is already lifting at the sides which is going to bug me and probably will taken off in a few days. I don't like when my strands of hair get stuck on lifted gels. I should mention that they don't have lights at each desk or station and perhaps that's why the technical can't see the details? Not sure. It's my first time and last time. Lastly, I'm used to having my hands wipes down with a towel or washed bf massage and finishing touches. She went directly into a lotion massage on my hands with the nail dust. My hands were wiped with the towel used underneath my hands that collected all the nail dust. I just found this odd and kind of gross. So I washed my hands after the service. read more
