I was really excited the Gluten free menu has so many options and gets dropped off automatically. However the experience was awful only 2 employees running the front of house. The owner sat at a laptop at the bar playing EDM nightclub music (for reference we had dinner at 5:30 on a Sunday). When the food finally arrived after an hour plus wait the spring rolls were AWFUL and we still didn't have our mains. Another long swath of time passed and the mains were never delivered we left. We waited over an hour and a half before throwing in the towel to leave and it wasn't busy. read more

There is no question that Goji Bistro is on the top in terms of food quality/quantity, the restaurant setting, environment and atmosphere and service. The authenticity of the Chinese dishes in Goji Bistro is as good as those famous Chinese restaurant in NYC and San Francisco. The decoration & setting of the restaurant is very unique, artistic and very eye-pleasing. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The restrooms are very spacious and clean. I stopped here for lunch last week because they have gluten free options. I brought my husband thus week because they have an entire gluten free menu and the food is amazing. Our server was attentive without hovering, the manager checked on us. Everything about the experience was great. It's definitely a new go-to place for us. The seating is pretty open so I wouldn't recommend it for an intimate date night but the seating would work for pretty much any other outing. A large family, casual dining for two or fun evening with friends would work work well here. Your gluten free friends will really appreciate it. Came in for lunch with my husband. Atmosphere felt pretty sterile, could use some more enticing imagery or lighting. Food was average, not extraordinary. I had the goji berry chicken which the menu stated "tender crispy chicken", unfortunately the chicken was more on the mushy side. Similar to how food tastes when reheated in the microwave. I understand it was in a sauce but this should still have been crispy. As a signature dish, I feel this should have been the star meal and feel more refreshing. read more

I really enjoy Goji Bistro. It is a larger restaurant with Asian food, many Ramen options and Thai. I usually order off the lunch menu and it comes with soup or salad. We ordered Pad Thai and Candy Walnut Shrimp and they were both amazing! The person waiting is usually the owner who is super friendly. Oddly, I can't quite place my finger on why I like this place over many Chinese/Thai restaurants but I think it's because they blend flavors and ingredients together well where I can't simply replace this place with another. It's just... Golgi. In a good way. If I nitpick, sometimes the chicken is a bit dry, sometimes dishes are slightly consistent, sometimes it feels pricey and other times spot on. At the end of the day though, I'd say, sure, let's go to Golgi again. Love their Golgi noodle soup since it's a great combo of tangy, sweet and slightly spicy. (Are those noodles? Decided on going here for a girls night and called ahead for reservations. They were super upfront about being short staffed and how serving a big group like us might take a little bit of extra time. We were totally okay with that as we were just happy to get together. The space was huge and had a great ambiance to it. We were seated across a bench seat and tables. The menu had so many great options we couldn't decide for the longest time. We decided to share family style (I only tried the veggie friendly options). I tried the spring rolls, drunken noodles, and the spicy eggplant dish. Everything was super tasty! The service was over the top amazing. Our server helped us understand the spice level on everything and gave us recommendations based on what we said we liked. Our drinks were made by the owner of the restaurant and were delicious! I definitely want to go back and try some of the additional things on the menu. Not once did we feel neglected or feel like they were short staffed or running around. Yes, a dedicated menu with plenty of options. We had items off the gluten free menu and regular menu. I am not celiac my husband is. I have to say EVERYTHING was delicious! Located at the old Neo-Asia spot, Goji Bistro's interior is modern and open with light woods, deep reds and cool lighting overhead. My first visit for lunch was a good experience for a bunch of reasons. Goji Bistro's menu is primarily Chinese-American and Thai. Think General Tso's, kung pao, basil chicken, curries and more. I order up some cold summer rolls and some candied walnut chicken. Lunches are all under $10 and come with a choice of soup or salad. My meal shows up, the summer rolls are nicely done, full and fresh of flavor. The shrimp is a large portion of plump shrimp in a sweet, may sauce with pineapple and walnuts yum! There's plenty to eat and half of it is going home with me. Service was very attentive at Goji Bistro but then again, they weren't that busy. TIP: Lunch menu as well as the Dinner menu is served until 3 or 4 every day, including weekends. That's a lot of bang for the buck! Which was good for us because we found ourselves there early on a recent Sunday. Armed with a dealsaver, we had to try extra hard to make sure we used it all, as their prices are quite reasonable. We started with the Tempura Green Beans with "Spicy" mayo dipping sauce. These were very good, although I didn't find the sauce to be spicy. We also shared the Summer Roll. Wow good, and so fresh and light. The shrimp were of good size and there was just the right amount of fresh herbs...what really took it over the top was the killer Asian dipping sauce loaded with fresh ginger and spicy chiles. Fortunately we hadn't had breakfast, because the lunch entrees come with soup or salad. We both had salad, which was pretty basic iceberg lettuce that was heightened by a tasty creamy ginger dressing. By now we were close to full already but had more coming! Husband got the Kung Pao Chicken, while I had the Spicy Basil Chicken. Both were excellent! Loved all the veggies. Loved that brown rice was an option. Needless to say we had plenty to take home, and it was just as good leftover. High quality all around! As for service, the only small complaint was it took awhile to order. We were brought drinks. Then another table was sat, brought drinks and ordered before our Server came back to take our order. And they weren't very busy, so it was a pretty obvious oversight. Trendy restaurant in the Cary area to get delicious, decently priced Chinese & Thai dishes. Mom and I walked in and grabbed two seats at the bar, our bartender (Peter, I believe was his name) was awesome! For drinks - I ordered a Sweet Josie while Mom opted for a Sky Blue Golden Ale. I will have to say the Lychee and Ginger Basil Mojito's looked amazing but I decided to stick with beer, maybe next time! For food - we started off with an order of the Pork Dumplings, we chose pan seared versus steamed, and Crab & Cream Cheese Crisps. Mom usually does not like dumplings but she really enjoyed these. As far as the other appetizer goes, it was delicious. We decided to split an entree since we were starting to get full and decided on the Candy Walnut Shrimp. I loved this dish especially the walnuts and pineapple. The ingredients paired so well together! Once we finished, the question was do we order dessert or not? I wanted something light and fluffy, the bartender recommended the Pan-dan cake. Do not be swayed by the ingredients of this Thai dessert, this cake was GOOD. I can't wait to go back! read more

I walked in during Sunday lunch one day to a dining room that wasn't absolutely slammed. The relative emptiness of the dining room added to a naturally beautiful environment. A lot of places don't offer their lunch menu on Sundays. Fortunately, Goji is generous enough to do so, cause I certainly don't have money. Lunch items average around $10 and below. Pick between many laowei Chinese and Thai favorites. I ordered the Spicy Basil Shrimp with fried rice and Wonton Soup ($1 upcharge). The Wonton Soup came first, and it did not disappoint. Wonton Soup consists of pork wontons, spinach, chicken, and shrimp. This is a delicious soup, and absolutely formidable for an appetizer. Plus, all soups come with "them crispy noodles," so no rude jerks have to say "You forgot the noodles." Seriously, don't be a jerk when you eat out. But I digress. The entrees followed shortly after I finished my soup. I was very impressed by the portion size. While I certainly could've eaten the entire thing, I decided it would make more fiscal sense to turn my one meal into two meals. I was also very pleased with the taste of my entree. The Spicy Basil Shrimp featured savory and spicy flavors, with plenty of vegetables to make you feel like you're being healthy. As pleased as I was with the overall experience, there wasn't that wow factor to push Goji over the top. Still, Goji remains a terrific value for lunch. read more

The Goji noodle soup is a winner. Shitake mushrooms, rice noodles, tomatoes, chicken and goji berries in a hot sour base. It's refreshing. If you don't like cilantro, though, ask if they can skip that part of the garnish, or you may have to skip this soup. And that would be a shame. I'm looking forward to the leftovers. The crab and cream cheese crisps (fried wontons), another specialty, are more cream cheese than crab (but I'm not complaining), and are served with a homemade plum sauce. The sauce is okay, but the wontons are good enough to stand on their own. The pineapple fried rice is almost a misnomer -- yes, there's pineapple, but there's also raisins, shrimp, and cashews. It was a good combination, but I didn't get the yellow curry sauce flavor listed as one of the ingredients. This was my least favorite dish -- not that it was bad, just kind of ordinary -- maybe it didn't stand out because I really wanted to get back to the soup. The menu has a small section of gluten free options and quite a few vegetarian choices. There's a limited amount of domestic and imported beers, red and white wines, but several different kinds of sake. There's even an organic merlot. The specialty drinks like the lychee mojito and goji or green tea martinis might be worth trying on another visit. The decor is understated. A red curtained wall on one side, balances the neutral colors of the opposite wall, tables, and chairs. I think some of the overhead lights are murano glass, but I wasn't close enough to tell. Goji is still working things out so I'm rounding up to four stars. read more

My office got this place catered for lunch. Everything arrived on time, wonderfully packaged, and fresh. The summer rolls are awesome! So fresh and tasty for a lunch time appetizer. The tangy dipping sauce for them was also delicious. I also really enjoyed the goji berry chicken. The sangkhaya custard for dessert was unique and tasty- very coconut-y, not too sweet, and sitting atop rice. The Singapore noodles weren't my favorite, they were a little bland and the flavor wasn't for me. But plenty of others in my office really enjoyed them. Came here again last Tuesday with four other coworkers for lunch. Place was empty as usual which is why I suggested it - we wouldn't have to worry about making reservations. Service: I'm afraid to say service this time around was subpar this time around. Drinks took a while to come out and one of my coworkers specifically asked to make the dish he ordered vegetarian yet it still came out with meat. He was about to take a bite until I noticed it and pointed out that his dish had some curious looking vegetables in it that actually turned out to be shrimp. I believe if a mistake like this happens the restaurant should provide some sort of discount at the very least. Imagine if someone was allergic to an ingredient and consumed it because the establishment was negligent to the customer's instructions? Food: I got the vegetarian spring roll for an appetizer. Unfortunately not for sharing as you only get one. Nothing great but not bad just wish they would make it a shareable option. For my entree I got kung pao tofu, level 3 spice. I clearly have lost my ability to handle spice because I couldn't taste anything but spice with just this level. I had to pack it and eat it for dinner with milk. I think it would have been good if it wasn't so spicy? Dessert was banana fry - a beautiful display of fried bananas and ice cream. Red Curry with shrimp- delicious and creamy broth with a nice lingering spice that is not too overwhelming. This past weekend, we ordered General Tso's and the Goji Hot Fish. The General Tso's was awful. They used old, dry chicken - nothing fresh about this dish. And it burned my mouth. I'm kind of upset after visiting this restaurant. And the thing that I'm upset about is that it isn't closer to our home in Durham. We visited Goji after shopping in Cary because we wanted to order food for a birthday dinner for my girlfriend who is a celiac. Goji was one of the first places that popped up when we searched for foods that would work with her allergies. Goji not only accommodates her allergy, they are one of the few restaurants, local or national, that provides an entire menu with a long list of dishes that she can eat. Now, like I said, we were celebrating, so we ordered a ton of food. Don't judge us. For starters we had the stuffed shrimp rolls, summer rolls, calamari, pork dumplings, and tom yum. For our entrees, we both had the Royal Hawaiian, as well as the sesame chicken. Even if we didn't factor in the allergy accommodation, everything was delicious. I wasn't a huge fan of the dumplings, but I guess I'm also just not a huge dumpling fan in general. The Royal Hawaiian was good, but I probably wouldn't order it again. However, everything else was really fantastic, to the point that we wish there was a location much closer to us, as we'd probably make it our new go to for takeout Asian food. We'll probably have to make more excuses to visit Cary now. I'd definitely recommend it. read more

Flavorful food and fast delivery! We ordered online and our food was delivered in about 20 minutes. Our order was accurate and everything tasted great! We particularly liked their fried rice and the garlic sauté. I also love their online menu. For each item there is a corresponding picture. This is extremely helpful especially when trying a menu item you have not had before. Plus the online menu is clear and there are several proteins to choose from.
