They've got lunch specials, around $13 a dish. Portions are solid, and you can see what we ordered in the photos. Golden China is the epitome of a mom and pop hole in the wall. For the most part, it's the owner who works there and does all the front of the house tasks herself. I always get the same dish. I walk in, she takes one look at me and asks, "Beef Noodle Soup?". They have other excellent traditional Chinese dishes but I find it tough to stray. It's the house made knife cut noodles, the savory broth and delicious sour cabbage that makes me love the dish here so much. Throughout the years, and overhearing many conversations, I know she emigrated from China and opened this restaurant (with very limited knowledge of the English language at the time) shorty after the 99 Ranch first opened which was back in 1989. She's been around for quite some time! Even though in recent years, I'm typically the only customer when dining in here, yet the restaurant still somehow manages to survive. It always puts a smile on my face when I come and see that she's still here. The familiarity of seeing a friendly face I've known for years feels like visiting family. I will always stop in when I'm in the area. She's kept her prices very fair and the food is consistently good. One of my all time favorite restaurants! I've been going here for years ever since I was a little girl. Every time I come back home to SoCal, I always ask my family to come eat here. I love the knife cut noodles here, it has the perfect blend of spice and rich flavor and the knife cut noodles are clearly cut by hand, with a nice thickness. Reviews on Yelp seem to either love it or hate it. For my first time, I was surprised at how good the food was. I came with friends who were vegetarians so there isn't meat in this review. The neighboring family vegetarian restaurant permanently closed, so we chose to try Golden China because of their options. We ordered the large snow pea leaves, eggplant and tofu hotpot, fried tofu, bamboo shoots and shredded bean curd, green onion pancakes, mustard greens & bean curd, steamed rice and a vegetable tofu soup. Everything was delicious. I think the soup was probably my least favorite because it is basic - it is still a good choice during winter weather. The owner find somehow deleted my review. Last wk We had $54 to go order. Then we only took no more than 4 bites, all main materials were finished. It surprised me that such few amount of real food they put in. 95% were cabbages and carrots or Tofu. Meat just few piece for half person. However, the price was not that cheap. It was about the same price as other restaurants, but only less than half of other's quantity. Tasted pretty much like the premade sauce, not good. The owner claimed that was just what they were and nothing wrong with it. They wanted to recover from yelp review. Golden China Restaurant is located inside the 99 Ranch supermarket in the city of Rowland Heights. This small place has that old-school vibe where it just seems like they know how to cook traditional Chinese dishes. This place has been open for a long time and it was recently my first time enjoying a few meals here. I usually come here during dinner time when I want or need to buy something at the supermarket. Service is quick and the ladies are pretty nice. The food is sharable and you should come here with a few people so you guys can share the food. I love their soups it's nice and light and you should always order soup because it is hot and usually for Chinese dinners you should have some sort of soup! We ordered this deep-fried chicken it comes with a lot of chilis but doesn't worry it isn't super spicy! But if you are scared you can let them know you want less chili. Broccoli beef has water chestnuts inside which I rarely see places do but this is my favorite! My friends like their pork dumplings from here and they say it tastes better than any other place. This restaurant is on the side of the 99 Ranch Market! After a good hour of shopping cardio, I decided to award myself some delicious noodles. I read on their window that they are known for their knife cut noodle with black bean paste so thats what I ordered right off the bat! I live about 30 minutes away and the noodles even survived the car ride. And it is what it lives up to be! The noodles are cooked perfectly with just the right amount of soft and chewyness that I love. The black bean paste is seasoned well with generous portions of tofu and nuts. The nuts give it a fun crunch.. The cucumbers add a freshness to the dish. I loved it so much! I'll definitely be back to try more things. read more

This is a lovely hole-in-the-wall type restaurant with authentic northern-style Chinese cuisine. The restaurant is family-owned for over 10 years. My favorites here are the knife-cut noodles, the eggplant dishes, and the salt & pepper shrimp. They also sell frozen dumplings to-go that are large, juicy, and tasty. Golden China is my go-to spot for Chinese comfort food. They're the first restaurant on the right once you enter from the side of the 99 ranch plaza in Rowland Heights. I mainly come here for the crab & the spicy chicken, but everything else is just as filling & delicious :) the owners are super friendly, which I think is vital in running a business. I see the way they interact with their customers and welcome them in like they're family. I notice a lot of regulars as I've become a regular myself. Their prices can't be beat and their portion sizes are generous. Their service is great! They're very attentive and consistent with making sure each dish comes out the way that it should. I've been coming every Sunday for the past month and order something different each time as they have a wide selection to choose from. I look forward to my Sundays now knowing that I'd be dining here for lunch. Tina(the owner) will take great care of you. She's always energetic and friendly, which I admire. Think they have a different owner from a few years ago. It's now Chinese style food. Service and food preparation is super slow even with only one table to serve. Saw another customer unhappily waiting for the bill as well. Taste is alright to good. Hand sanitizers they have are sticky. Bathroom has hand sanitizers instead of soap. And there's no paper towel so you have to touch the likely dirty door knob on your way out. The "man tou" aka buns they have on the table turned out to have mold on it. The food here is amazing. Their veggies are always fresh and the food tastes very clean. The ladies working here seem to know everybody who come in. It feels like home. There are so many restaurants in the area that come and go. I hope this particular one stays in business forever! Some of my favorites here include fried shrimp, mapo tofu, and green onion pancake. Came here for the first time during lunch time because the place I usually go to (next door to this place) was way packed. It's right outside of 99 Ranch Market..literally right by the entrance. The portions were pretty small in my opinion..I was expecting bigger portions that were enough to share. For the rice cakes dish we ordered, we ended up finding a hair in it and it was so disgusting. Although they did replace our dish with another order, I had already lost my appetite at that point. The fried green onion pancake was definitely a bit on the oiler side and was a bit overcooked. Came here as a last resort. The restaurant next door was closed! This place is located inside 99 Ranch Market building. Ordered: Xiao Long Bao (1/5 stars) - I've tasted better. It was ok. There wasn't a whole lot of juice (sauce) in the bao as I would have liked. The meat was ok. The dumpling skin wasn't as soft as it should have been. Onion Pancake (3/5 stars) - It's a bit doughy, but it has a crunch on the outside. It was probably deep fried. There's flavor without adding any spicy sauce to it. It was enjoyable to eat. Beef Noodle Soup (4.5/5 stars) - One of the better beef noodle soup I've tasted. I love how the noodle is hand made and knife cut. The noodle is aldente and very good. The beef was very tender and flavorful. The soup I felt was ok, didn't have the "umph" I wanted it to taste like. The bowl, I thought, was pretty small compared to other places I've eaten at. However, the hand cut noodles are plentiful in the bowl. Mixed Fried Rice (3/5) - It was good and flavorful. Service was slow. If you wanted something you had to flag that person down. I was having an internal conflict to whether or not to rate this place and give a 5 star review because I want people to know how good this place is, but if too many people know about this place and want to come, then there might be a wait next time I come... but for the benefit of this delicious restaurant, I will rate it. I have ordered: Knife Cut Beef Noodle Soup (Dao Xiao Niu Rou Mian) - Very Good Braised Pork Rice (Lu Rou Fan) - Good Spicy Oil Wontons (Hong You Chao Shou) - Good Green Onion Pancake (Cong You Bing) - THE BOMB Something I have noticed is that they give very generous portions and they are relatively cheap compared to other places. The waitresses are all really nice and particularly one of them treats my boyfriend and I like her son and daughter making sure we are full and making sure everything was delicious. I really love these types of restaurants that treat customers like family. One family came in today and the waitress knew the whole family because apparently they were regulars of this restaurant, I read on Yelp about how good their green onion pancakes were, so we had to order it and I am so glad we did. We loved it so much, the next day we just came into the restaurant and only ordered a plate of green onion pancakes ($2.95) as a after-dinner snack.... The food taste was soso, tasted like Tea-Ren's,but less meat inside. If you want to eat authentic Chinese food, you should try Golden China restaurant. Think of Panda Express... and then do a 180. My parents live close to this place and brought me here. This restaurant is good for SPICY Chinese food as well as anything that is dough based (i.e. fresh noodles, dumpling or steamed 'xiao long bao' and green onion pancake). Try the 'knife cut' style noodles where the noodles are shaped more like 5" long small fish fillets as opposed to what you think regular flour based noodles should look like. The menu is bilingual but there are there are many specialty dishes that are written in Chinese which are posted on the wall. They have lunch specials on M-F which are a great bargain and start at $4.50 (veg only) ranging to $6.95 (seafood). The service is good and dishes are prepared quickly although I'm not sure how well they handle non-English speakers. This place is CASH ONLY but you can eat here for less than $10 per person. It's not a very big place and I think they have one table that can handle a party of 8. Most tables are for parties of 2-4 people. It's Saturday afternoon but sadly it was empty, when I walked in the owner greeted me very nicely as she was grabbing and putting on her mask. I ordered & was told it will be about 15 minutes so went to 99 ranch market to grab few stuff. It was ready when I came back. The sweet & sour deep fried mini pork was delicious. It came with a sauce (little spicy reddish in color, sweet & sour) which I ask on the side so it wouldn't get soggy. It was crispy & flavorful, perfect w/ beer & wine. The pan fried dumplings were bite size & delicious as well. But I wish the skin was more crisper. Mapao tofu was also delicious with tender, silky tofu. It had ground pork, hint of spices not over powering. Good with rice but rice was little on the sticky side. But overall all good. Definitely want to go back try different menus!!! read more

Super good service! We were greeted by this lady who has the sweetest smile ever. Already feeling super welcoming the moment we walked in :) We ordered cumin lamb, sesame oil chicken with herb, peking pork ribs, and Shanghai style chicken. Loads of meat, right. LOL I know.. we were super guilty afterwards haha. Anyways, everything came in a good amount of portion for decent price. They also have lunch special Monday to Friday 10am - 6pm. Located inside the 99 Ranch plaza, it's the first one from the side entrance. Parking can be difficult during peak hours, but just be patient. It's well worth it! The must-try dish here is the handmade knife-cut beef noodle soup. It comes as a medium spicy but you can ask for less spicy. Soup is on point and flavorful, meat is tender, and most of all, the NOODLES! You can tell it's handmade because all the noodles are not the same shape. Doughy and chewy yet cooked thoroughly... who doesn't like thicc noodz heheh. Wontons in chili oil is VERY, VERY SPICY! Even for a high-spicy tolerant person like myself, it had me coughing up a storm and begging for water LOL, because it is the ma la (麻辣) kind of spicy. You have been warned!
