This place is in the middle of nowhere but def worth seeking out. The food comes instantly and is awesome, plus the staff is very friendly. And even the coffee is good which is rare. If I actually lived in Ventura, I'd come here more often. read more

We got very lucky as we stumbled on to it by mistake because Pete's Breakfast 2 doors down was closed. This place is a gem. Best chilaquiles and huevos rancheros ever! Their salsa verde is spicy and very flavorfull. The french toast was done right and had the perfect flavor. read more

Phew. What an awful experience and a waste of our time and money. We came here on a Saturday morning for breakfast. There weren't too many people in the restaurant, which should have been a sign,but somehow it took 25 minutes to take our order and the food took over a hour. We were patient and chill about it, but no one ever came to refill our water glasses, and the coffee was downright terrible. When we finally received our food, the omelette was small and bland and overcooked. We didn't notice until after we'd taken a few bites that the pancakes and hash browns were still raw. When we calmly brought it to the waitress' attention, she got defensive and snapped at us that we should have told her sooner. She aggressively asked our friend (who hadn't said a word yet) if his food was also subpar, and although his cinnamon roll was drier than the Sahara he was kind enough not to say anything. The waitress then rudely reminded us that we would still have to pay for the food. By that point we just wanted to grab the check and get out of there. She took the pancake and hash browns off the bill but made no apology for her behavior. Since we left I've been feeling queasy from the omelette. Bottom line-- wish we could get our time and money back. read more

This was an ok breakfast place. Food was tasty but not huge portions for the price. Also the Oxnard location was great with the outside seating by the harbor but there is a 24 hour fitness right next door and the music and instructor yelling is not worth the nice view. They had speakers on the outside of the restaurant so maybe they could try having their own music playing and drown out the music next door. read more

We sat there for 45 minutes after being seated. The server never came back to refill coffee or drinks. Finally we went in to ask about our food. The server came out and actually said, "So they're going to work on your food next." I asked what she meant by that. THEY HAD NOT EVEN STARTED. I ordered the huevos rancheros. They were mediocre, I have no complaints but they were not anything special. However the refried beans I got on the side were obviously from a can and I am not a fan of refriend beans. Also the service was not great. If I had a choice I would not come back again. read more

I go out for breakfast about 2 to 3 times a month and this is the first time I've ever been inclined to write a negative review about any place. After ordering my girlfriend and I waited a good 20 minutes and nothing. There were people showing up after us at this point who were starting to receive their food. Eventually we got our food, which is pretty decent and always has been. The server was apologetic and I quickly got over it by stuffing some food down. So... all of the food is eaten and a younger kid takes all of the plates away. After some observation I can see now that their largest issue is COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE STAFF so I put my card out on the table before he even takes the plates, subtle right? Time goes by, (at which point I wished I was keeping track) no one comes with the check. FINALLY, I go up to the counter to pay them and he can't find our ticket. About a half hour before this I even told the guy I felt like they forgot about us as he was bringing our food. So I'm standing there and I can't pay the guy. Eventually he finds the ticket (in piles of old ones) and I pay. He offers me some banana bread but honestly this was even a little insulting at this point. I've worked retail a long time, not serving food mind you, but I understand when it gets hectic or busy things go wrong. Being busy was their reason but they were far from having a full house. Somethings wrong when I have to work to pay a business. I was ready to walk out well before the food came but I wanted to give them a fair chance. The point of this ramble I guess is that if things are going wrong with a table and the customer knows it, attempt to rectify it. The customer should never have to work to pay you after you're already having issues with their table. This may never happen to you here but please keep in mind that if they are a little overwhelmed you may be rolling the dice. (when I was trying to pay there was also a guy who got you to change out a very fake looking $100 bill. If it was real good for you, if not, that sucks. I almost said something.) read more

Two words - hangover friendly. The server arrives at the table, coffee in hand, because they understand. Not just from the greasy, matted hair or the bags under your eyes...but from everybody's who are at all the other tables. The food is good and simple American breakfast that is way cheap. Came here due to the 4+ star yelp rating and that Pete's Breakfast House down the street had a line 30 people deep. BEST. DECISION. EVER. I had the chicken and waffles... perfection. The chicken strips were moist and crunchy, the waffle was crispy and served with maple butter instead of sog-inducing syrup. My husband had the chilaquiles with chorizo and they were gone before I could get a second taste! A side of breakfast potatoes was crunchy on the bottom and flavored with rosemary. Yum! We decided to eat here in hopes of finding a family-owned place that was run with love, featuring food made from scratch. That's what we found. From the moment we walked up we were greeted by friendly, sincere waitstaff. We started with coffee and cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll was unique and delicious. Then we ordered the vegie quiche (le piece de resistance), vegie eggs benedict (perfect) and Santa Fe scramble. The fruit side was enormous and fresh with seven kinds of fruit. When I read 'fresh squeezed" next the to orange juice on the breakfast menu I got excited. Except here they serve you Minute Maid in a glass. Bleh. The waitress was nice but forgot my fiance's side of potatoes (instead of apologizing she tried to play it off as if he never ordered it in the first place). I agree with the other yelper I do feel their hearts are in the right place but my food wasn't hot either. I ordered french toast (bland) bacon ( 2 small measley pieces) and a side of eggs. My plate looked depressed. The staff was friendly but the server who brought my first plate lacked good hygiene. Not a sight you want to see before digging in. I highly recommend a complete makeover inside/out. Replace those awful white plastic chairs outside, the dead flowers on each table, all wall decor, and no more playing Avril Lavigne. read more

Really wanted to try this cute spot on our way to Santa Barbara this morning. We were seated, and many many minutes later we received menus and we were asked what beverages we wanted. A bit later water and coffee came out and we had our order taken about 20 minutes into our visit. 45 minutes later we still had no food, and the table behind us received theirs, and they had arrived after us. We had asked where our food was and all we received were minimal apologies and that it was coming. We left $ on the table for the coffee and left. Really need to get it together, we will never recommend and never go back. Bummer as I was hoping for a great experience. read more

This was a pretty bad breakfast all around. They have "homemade biscuits and cinnamon rolls" so we tried both. Tasteless biscuit and the cinnamon roll was hard. The eggs, biscuit, French toast and wheat toast were all served cool - not even warm. The chicken fried steak was served warm. The scrambled eggs were cool in temperature and tasted like they were smothered in an artificial butter-oil. The coffee was not good either. Overall terrible food. I do think their hearts are in the right place. The waitress was a bit slack, but very friendly and, in fairness, it was late (1pm) and mostly empty. I absolutely love being able to sit outside. HOWEVER. There's something about a dog's barking incessantly that sets me on edge (upon leaving I saw there's a grooming shop next door). Ants crawled across my table. And the tables and chairs are the trailer park white plastic kind that are a universal signal of desperation. Underwhelmed. Looked good based on reviews and photos. Tried for the first time. One of our party of four said omelette was good. Another said banana bread was tasty. Another ordered roasted potatoes - but there was a hair in it and she decided she didn't want a replacement. For myself, eggs were ordered over medium but seemed more like over easy. But worse offender was the "Belgium Waffle" (quotes because no waffles in the US taste anything like street waffles I've eaten in Brussels). Waffle was super dry. And pretty tasteless. I think I saw (too late!) from another reviewer a similar comment about the waffles. So don't get those! Also, service was slow-ish and not all that attentive. Between the food and service, it wasn't horrible but I wouldn't give it more than a "C-". And although some of our party thought it was ok, I personally won't be returning. read more

I must say from all the breakfast spots I've been in Ventura, this little gem stole my tummy's heart. They offer all the breakfast cravings & more. Set in a quaint, no frills house turned into restaurant just adds to it's charm. Hence the name, eggs must be their specialty, but I beg to differ because their pancakes are on point! Just the right amount of fluffiness & not to heavy to digest gives room for more breakfast treats. They offer daily breakfast specials. I opted for their country fried steak w gravy, eggs, hash browns & your choice of toast. My my what a feast to indulge in on a beautiful Sunday morning. You feel right at home & the service was always on top since I've been. Not to mention their reasonable prices! We found this place by mistake, we were headed to Petes which we found on goggle but the line was too long so we came here. The atmosphere was cute, clean, warm, affordable and cozy. I orderd the Belgian Waffle it was crispy and the bacon was cooked perfectly and they had real maple syrup. The Service was excellent, Jennifer was our waitress she was very friendly and nice. The other staff were also friendly, they constantly asked if I wanted more coffee and automatically refilled our water glasses. I would recommend trying this cafe out read more
