I remember Good Stuff in 1979, as a burger stand next to a auto repair shop in West LA, on Olympic at Barrington. They were the first place that served zucchini fries back then (Hamburger Hamlet had Zucchini Zircles). It's great that they have grown into a successful small chain of restaurants in the Southbay and West LA. Good Stuff focuses on healthy foods with great breakfasts and sandwiches. I went to their El Segundo restaurant on Saturday for a late breakfast. I sat in a narrow little patio area outside because it was a clear and beautiful day. They were not too busy and the waitress was extremely nice and attentive. I ordered their Chicken Chili Verde Omelet, but asked for it to be cooked as a soft-scramble. I also asked them to substitute pancakes instead of the potatoes and toast. The waitress was very accommodating and in fact suggested their "pumpkin spice" pancakes. The Chicken Chili Verde is very healthy option if you get it with egg whites and fruit instead of potatoes. When the food came, the eggs were prepared perfectly "soft-scrambled" with a delicious Chicken Chili Verde on top. They also bring you their homemade salsa for some extra spice. I got 2 pumpkin spice pancakes which were also really good. It tasted like "Thanksgiving" in a bite. It was a welcome change from the standard buttermilk pancakes. The prices are a little higher than Denny's, but I really appreciate the healthy and fresh choices that they provide. Their burgers and zucchini fries are also great. read more

I don't want to sound absolutely biased, but I have been here in the past and had some "okay" experiences. I am a strong follower of getting the largest portions for the least amount of money. Good Stuff's food is of cleaner/healthier quality, which means that the portions are normal. It's best to catch them during their happy hour where everything is a couple bucks off between three to five in the afternoon. One thing I'm not too fond of is that there are always a bunch of little kids running around in there. One time it smelled like one of those little bastards shit his pants. After my breakfast there this morning, I never want to return. I ordered an omelet. Everything was fine. I had one good bite, chewed it, then when I looked down on my plate I saw a hair on the bottom of the omelet. I am a forgiving man, so I took the hair off of my plate and kept eating. After the next bite I found two more fucking hairs on the bottom of the omelet. I called Jesus, our waiter, showed him the hair, and then I told him that I no longer wanted it and to take it off of my bill. Jesus insisted that I order something else and that it would be on "the house," even though I initially refused. Giving in to the situation, I ordered a Good Stuff breakfast. The manager came over and apologized. I thought that everything else would be fine. When the bill came they tried to charge me for the Good Stuff breakfast that they said I would have for free. We had to call Jesus over to look into that again. Instead giving me the meal for free, they charged me for it, and gave me a $10 Good Stuff gift card. Fucking assholes. I know it's not Jesus' fault. In fact, Jesus was cool, but the way that the fucking management handled that situation sucked fucking ass. FUCK GOOD STUFF. I'll never go back. Unfortunately, I HAVE to go back to burn off that gift card. read more

Our family went there for breakfast on a weekend. They said it would be a 15-20 min wait therefore we stayed. Although I was skeptical because of the number of people waiting outside. They were spot on with 17 min wait. The service was great and we (husband, daughter and I) tried the vegan scramble for the first time. There used to be a guy who worked there and he may have been a manager - I can't imagine he stuck around very long because he was the nicest employee there. The corn tortillas tasted homemade because they were slightly thicker than store bought, and they were hot, sweet and yummy. This is the second GS branch I've been to (the other being Redondo Beach), and the food and service seem pretty consistent - i.e., very good. Parking can be a problem - no lot - so if you're meeting someone there, give yourself 5-10 minutes extra to park. GS always seemed to be busy with customers waiting at the door.. I ordered the The California Omelet ($9.29) filled with bacon, avocado, mushroom, tomato, and jack cheese - with all egg whites (additional $1.09 and well worth it). You get your choice of fruit or potatoes (I chose fruit) as well as toast or muffin. The omelet was not in any way greasy or heavy-feeling. Just fresh and light. I was also impressed with the side of fruit. Normally most places just serve fruit that is often unripe and unflavorful, but the fruit here was all very fresh and sweet. It's the little things that can be the difference of a star. My friend T also got an omelette - Cassidy's Garden which she orders whenever she visits. Because we both skipped the toast/muffin, we asked for - and got an extra small plate of fruit at no extra charge. They were very cool about it and provided attentive, friendly service. The GS is used to healthy eaters, so don't be afraid to ask for exactly what you want. I'd come by more often if I lived closer to the area. read more

My family and I absolutely LOVE this restaurant! Our only regret is that there isn't one in Westchester - sigh... Their menu is extensive, and everything we've ordered is delicious and beautifully-presented. I've had their garden hummus wrap, packed full of veggies, and my mom has ordered their chicken Caesar salad, which came with a very generous sliced chicken breast on top. The restaurant has a wonderful, quaint atmosphere - gives you a feeling you're not in a metropolis - and the servers are exceptional. I drink a lot of water, and apologized to Janine for having to come over to re-fill my glass so often. She said, "That's my job... and I really love my job!" What a refreshing response! You don't hear comments like that very often. She was warm and friendly to everyone, not just us; quick and efficient, while still finding a way to connect with the customers. I ordered a chicken salad and the breast was a 1/4" thick flattened and tasteless. Bad dressing and bad croutons, just plane bad dinner food. I could have gotten a better meal at Denny's. My niece ordered a spaghetti and meatballs kid's plate, she's 11 and said it tasted like bad school food. Normally I like this place so much! Great staff and decent food. Went yesterday for lunch though and sat at the counter where I normally do. Hardly anyone the restaurant at 11:15. I had to ask for a menu first off. I chose the chicken Caesar salad which used to be quite tasty. It was terrible. The chicken was tasteless, the croutons were stale and some of the lettuce was brown. I was so disappointed. I normally get the fried chicken salad and it's good so that's what I plan to do next time. Sad that the salad I got was so poor. They can do better! read more

For breakfast, I love this place. Maybe it's because I generally only for breakfast or brunch, and their french toast and other breakfast items are all solid. Not amazing, but portions are just right, the bacon is perfectly crunchy... Service also generally is pretty good over brunch. My girlfriend and I only came here because Wendy's was too busy, even at 10:30am! My girlfriend ordered a special they were offering which was a tri tip breakfast burrito that had cheese, avocado and came with side of hash browns. I ordered the french toast with eggs and bacon. All the portions were good sized and filling. My french toast was a tad small and the breakfast burrito came in two mini burritos. Prior to this, I had only been to the Hermosa Beach location where, if I'm honest, the best thing is that they allow you to bring your dog with you to the outdoor patio seating. This location was a bit better in the food department primarily due to the awesomeness of the turkey sausage recommended by our waitress. The buttermilk pancakes were below average, while the side of fruit was a little above average. Probably would not come back unless I lived in the community and there were no better options. read more

Good stuff is pretty good stuff-but not great stuff. My omelet was was fine but not remarkable, and my potatoes where a little undercooked. I think it was because they use cubes and shaved potato bits in their hash browns. The cubes were just shy of done. Not something to get all hateful about, but unappetizing none the less.
