Found this little gem while walking around in the neighborhood. I knew there was a cinnamon bun place around but I love me some old-fashioned donuts. It was late in the afternoon when I came so selection was limited, but the donut I picked up was PERFECT. It was lightly glazed and the inside was pretty aerated, so it was a light dessert that I really enjoyed. Also got a smoothie because it was so hot. We asked if they could do strawberry banana (wasn't on the menu) and the owner did not have a problem with that. The smoothie was pretty awesome too. Really glad I gave this place a try. read more

Cute mom&pop shop. You can tell it's family owned because the dads always there bright and early, mom and the kids show up later in the day (I've gone at different times of the day... not a stalker hahah). I used to live nearby this doughnut shop. Long time ago, there used to be a Winchell's down the strip mall from the current Goody's location. The old Winchell's is renamed the Baker's Dozen. Then the Serra Mesa strip mall went through a decade without a doughnut shop. Now we have Goody's. What you should really try is the cream puffs. They are outstanding with the cream-filled doughnut holes dusted with powdered sugar. Delish. read more

Kinda bummed about my expierence here. I noticed all of the good reviews so me and my partner decided to stop by. We came later in the day around like 11ish and their was not much selection but we ended up getting a half a dozen. The maple bar was old and tasted like grease, the consistency was that of foam or something similar...just not good. The second I had was a french cruler (my fave) and it was alright, seemed to be not fully cooked on the inside? It didn't have the light and fluffy texture like it normally does but rather dense on the inside. The third I tried was a piece of the old fashioned with chocolate frosting and that was pretty good. I know it was later in the day, so I feel like I should come back at an earlier time when they are fresh to better judge but the maple bar expierence just killed it for me. What started as an innocent Sunday morning walk quickly turned into, "Babe! I gotta post a review on Yelp RIGHT NOW!" Neither of us were even in the MOOD for donuts! We just happened to cut through the parking lot to take a look at the party supply store at the end of the dingy little strip mall (attempting a comeback thanks to some nearby gentrification and the addition of a gym). Our intentions were pure. But there it was, just a few doors down... Calling... Its simple door sign lettering was all it took to pique our interest. We had no idea what was awaiting is inside. Sure, it may have looked like the standard array of donut shop fair - cake donuts with frosting and various toppings, a variety of maple/chocolate/powder donuts/bars/twists, crullers with chocolate, pink and white icings, fritters, donut holes, etc. - but standard, they are not! We picked a dozen just to get a good variety. The donut that looked like a mountain of fried dough injected with strawberry jelly is where I started. I wish I knew what it was called because it's freaking delicious. The texture was perfect inside and out. Which brought me to where I am now, writing a review. A friend and I were craving donuts so we decided to try this place. I believe we arrived between 3-4pm. Wasn't a huge selection of donuts on display but we eventually came to the decision to get milkshakes instead. She got chocolate and I wanted to be different so I got a mix of chocolate and peanut butter:-). I went for my afternoon run and came home and noticed my stomach was very upset( painful cramps, gassy etc). I didn't think anything of it and thought it was from the run since I did go a little further. I text my friend later just to chit chat and she respond with a photo of herself next to the toilet. She had been in there throwing up. It's approximately 11:15pm and my stomach is still hurting. Definitely never going back here again. A great, local, family opened business. I usually hit up this place at least once a month to get a dozen for the office. Their red velvet donuts make my controller happy.
