It's good overall. I only take off one star because I only give five stars to the highest quality teas after I taste them with no milk or extras. I asked for half sugar and my drink still seemed on the sugary side but it was not bad. I recommend to the owners to get a different location because the location feels a little isolated; it is awkward place to drive and also I smelled something unpleasant when I was there. I have tried this place a few times over the last year and it's only gotten better. On the most recent visit, we tried the lychee green tea and the taro milk tea, both with half sugar and less ice and boba. I like that we are able to customize all the drinks we've had at this place. The boba was soft and sweet. The first time we came here about 7ish months ago they mixed in some of the old boba with new boba and it was very easy to tell which was which. But the last couple times we've come here, the boba has been soft and fresh so I'm glad we gave it another try! Seems like that was an old practice as it hasn't happened to our drinks since. The taro is so good, with actual taro flavor and pieces. The lychee drink had actual pieces of lychee in it as well. For their fruit drinks, I've been very impressed that they incorporate pieces of the actual fruit in the drinks. It's also in a convenient location and there's always parking in the lot. Not sure if this is the same place/ owners that used to be in the Atlas Market up in Poway (https://www.yelp.com/biz/gotcha-tea-poway-3) but we were so sad to see Gotcha Tea in Poway go! The website presents differently but the menu does look the same.. it appears to be a chain so many this is just another instance in San Diego. The boba was delightfully soft and squishy. Honey boba milk tea. 80% sugar, easy ice.. still a bit sweet but it was super satisfying. Definitely will try to go lower in sweetness next time. We also tried the coffee milk tea at 80% still a bit sweet.. but also refreshing. Hubster picked up the order that i placed online and drinks were ready quickly and without issue. I want to love this place so bad!!! I have been here a total of 3 times because I like the options they have and I wanted to keep trying it. Unfortunately the last time I was here, I decided to try their yogurt collection as it's something that reminds me of my childhood back home. 5 stars?? How though!!? As a SoCal tourist, I really only have one shot at trying places and basing my opinions off of that. Coming on our way back from the famous Carlsbad Flower fields, we decided to stop by this place. Located in a fairly busy plaza, the location does not seem odd. It does, however, stand out with its lovely interior. When you walk inside, you'll automatically notice the heavenly smell of fresh, brewed tea. Ahhh. The place had five tables in total that consisted of bar-like wooden stools and couches. There was also soft music playing in the background as well for those who were studying inside. A bathroom is available at the end. As we waited in line for about 5 minutes max, we were able to skim the menu. They have an average amount of milk teas, fresh teas, and blended drinks available. The fresh teas that they did have grabbed my attention due to the unique tea flavors that are not usually available at every single boba place. For instance, they had Sun Moon Lake Tea, High Mountain Oolong, Four Season Green Tea, Diet Puer Black Tea, and Alishan Tea. They even have a "special drinks" section that includes Mom's Favorite (fresh milk with pudding, red bean, and boba), Paris Milk Tea (Caramel Milk Tea), and a few more. I decided to go with the Jade Jasmine since I usually order the Jasmine Green Milk Tea. My sister got the Sun Moon Lake Tea topped with cream. With the 20% discount from Mon-Fri (3-6pm), we were able to get roughly $4 off for an upgrade from regular size to a large. As we waited, I noticed how all the tea and fruits were being handled right in front of us. I even saw them cut fresh taro for the taro milk tea and smoothie. We love boba places that use real tea than powder. Because we ordered five drinks, our order took around 5-10 minutes to be made. Not bad at all since there were two people ahead of us, and they were still able to get all of drinks within ten minutes. When our drinks arrived and I finished taking pictures for the gram, I took one sip of the Jade Jasmine. The taste of the tea was interesting and exactly like a combination of Mountain Jade Tea and Jasmine. I got this at 80% and I wished I got it at 100% because I want the tea to stand out alongside with the milk. It is nice that the drinks did not come out super sweet though. But for the boba....I was not at ALL ready for it. Their boba was both freshly made and extremely soft. It was soaked in the perfect amount of honey just like Boba Guys. The only difference was that their boba was much more delicate. Like how? Gotcha Tea surely got me. Not only was their boba unbeatable, but the customer service and prices were pleasant. Glad that they have two locations (Poway and this location) - but I've been to this one more often than the other. In any case, I was introduced to this boba shop from a friend who loves loves loves this place. This shop is located in a strip mall so I'm assuming when it gets super busy, parking would be a tad bit challenging. However, every time I've stopped by here, I've never had trouble finding parking. The first time I came here I ordered the winter melon tea. I like that they ask for sugar and ice levels. The wintermelon tea that I ordered was half sweet and less ice. It was perfect. This time around I ordered the coffee milk tea with coffee jelly - half sweet and less ice. I really liked this combo because the coffee flavor was strong enough and the coffee jelly was plentiful. I feel like the coffee jelly makes it a little sweeter as well, again, just my opinion. Overall, I'll definitely come back because I want to try their other drinks. The lady said "no ice" would be an extra 50cent so I told them it's fine if they dont fill it up all the way thinking that it would only be 1inch empty. BUT they only filled it up to 2/3 of the cup. My favorite time for a nice boba drink is after my morning run, but so many place don't open until late morning or afternoon. I've been on the lookout for a good morning place. Gotcha's drinks are huge! They let you adjust the sweetness and ice level, which I always appreciate. I always like my sweetness adjusted down, but their boba is very warm, so I would recommend full ice. Overall, it's a good drink. Randomly stopped in here for a tea.  I ordered a Paris milk tea with less sugar.  It was good but not very cold.  I think it would have tasted better cold.  When ordering drinks, their is a sign by the cashier explaining the different amounts  of sugar and ice.  Service is good. Located off the 163 away from the main eating area of Convoy, Gotcha Tea is definitely worth a try. I have tried this place several times. I think they were the first ones to start using the boba cups that are shaped like a heart. The design brings a smile to my face. The customer service is friendly all the time. They are not too talkative, but polite. My taro smoothie did not taste like powder. I like that they have milk alternatives here as well so that the drink is easier on my stomach. The coffee smoothie is good too. But then, I am a coffee lover so this item is easy to impress me. Matcha tea: pretty nice, but I felt it was still too sweet despite asking for less sweet. The matcha flavor was not too strong. The Sun-Moon Lake black tea has really good flavor. If you do not like coffee, I suggest you try this black tea. I like that the Gotcha menu is smaller than most boba places, but their offerings are unique compared to most boba places. read more

I decided to get some boba tea here after dinner a couple nights ago. They ran out of boba and the bear shaped jellies, so the only other topping I liked was the egg pudding. My friend said that the Jade Jasmine milk tea was good, so I ordered that with the egg pudding and my husband got the chocolate ice blend with whip cream. My co-worker got a drink from here so I decided to give em a try. She said she got half sugar for her honey lemon green tea and it was super sweet. So I went for the same drink with no sugar as well as the honey kumquat green tea with no sugar. They're both still super sweet! While the drinks tasted good, I felt like I was going to get diabetes. I had to water it down with half water and half the drink. Get one drink and get the second for half off till end of May. Toppings are 50 cents and a large size is also 50 cents more.
