I'm a small business owner, I write negative reviews with great caution. I'm not perfect in my business, no one is, but we do try really hard to correct any mistake we make quickly, and take responsibility. That's not what happened here. I brought a pair of pants in for a repair. I was told they wouldn't be perfect, and that the repair person was really good at fixing anything. I didn't expect perfect, but I also didn't expect Frankenstein, with a new stain around it! I get that it's subjective as to what's acceptable, this really is across that line, what they've done is really worse than not fixing it at all, someone should have said, sorry, we can't do this well, so we won't do it. Obviously, making the pants dirty in the process adds insult to injury, this is a cleaners, it's hard to imagine handing something back like that. Not well handled, I'm not going back. read more

I had some make up stains on my white Balenciaga sweater, and it took about 2 months for them to return it to me, with a greyish stain on the front. They tried to pull it off like it was not visible , only in the light and would only offer $20 reimbursement in house. Meaning I would have to use their crappy service again! lol no thank you. The sweater is $350.... the audacity they have?? Additionally, the customer service was fine, (the main woman) but there was another new woman that was rambling on about if it was $350 I should have more?? I have spent maybe 4500 or 5000 here over the past four years and was a loyal customer until recently when I was accused of stealing. I was also held against my will. I was told, "I can't let you leave." Verbatim y the cashier. I gave 305 dollars cash and made sure they had Apple Pay. When they said yes I added on a jacket. The tailor was about 275 and cash only so I wanted the balance to go on Apple Pay. 38 was to go on Apple Pay. When I was inside the woman Brooke accused me of theft when her card reader went down. She made me stand for an hour and a half, said I needed to go home and come back with only 30 minutes till close. She told me, "It's not my fault you forgot your wallet." When I had clarified they could take Apple Pay. It was her fault her machine went down. My 305 covered the total of the 275 alteration however after she added a jacket on top, which I planned to pay the excess of via Apple Pay, it was a total of 343.38. The balance of 38.38 couldn't be paid so I asked her to put the jacket back and I would come later. She said her system didn't work that way and she couldn't let me leave with the stuff and wouldn't give me my cash back. I said well your register needs to work that way because you have my money put the jacket back and give me change for the original 275 in alterations. I eventually after standing on my feet for an hour and a half burst into tears and said, what did she want from me, she was overwhelming me by not letting me leave. She said, "you're doing too much, your crying is overwhelming me. I got better things to do back there. You think I want to be here with you?" I was unable to deal with the situation because she really just wanted me to be someone who couldn't pay instead of putting the jacket back and giving me 25 in change. She told me her register wouldn't allow it and I better find a way to pay. Then she called her manager who said to do it, but at that point I was crying and done. Lost a 5,000 dollar client and if I was feeling really vengeful I could easily file a false imprisonment lawsuit but I won't because they're small business. This woman always makes comments about how, "that's expensive." thinking with her wallet and not mine. couldn't stand when I had the money for these things and it suited her narrative to force me into a position where I couldn't pay. She is a liability and the reason the other yelp review says someone commented on a designer item. When everyone leaves she takes advantage that the tailor doesn't speak English and talks rudely to customers. Don't go there unless you want to be at her mercy as she kept my items and my money all 305 after I asked for her Apple Pay and its her fault her reader wasn't working. read more

I should have read the reviews before I started coming here. Oh well, I won't spend another dime at this place. For starters, their hours are 8am-7pm during the week. Lousy hours for a businessperson. They open too late, and close too early. I've had the same tablecloths dry cleaned here about 4 different times. Each time, the price is different. It just keeps going up. This last time, I found their Valpak coupon, and surprise, the tablecloths aren't eligible for the coupon. But wait! We'll give you a 20% discount. That's great, until they jack the price up to make up for the "discount." When I complained, the guy looked up a past price and tried to make it seem like I was paying less this time around, but when I pointed out I didn't have the "discount" last time, he didn't have a response. Well, my response is, fuck off with your bait and switch coupons, and your bullshit variable prices. Don't patronize dishonest businesses- this is one of them. read more

I have been coming to Grandview Cleaners for a long time. I have never had a problem here and I've always been very happy with their work. I haven't used the tailor too much except to fix some simple tears in clothing and never had a problem either. In the past if there was ever a stain that just couldn't come out there was always a note saying we tried but luckily I haven't had any major stains that completely ruined an outfit. I have honestly been very happy with this place. Recently I brought in a pair of white linen pants that I've had for some time. Needless to say they were starting to yellow as white can do over time. I brought them in and Fatima who I usually deal with (who is wonderful btw) said we will do our best and I said OK that's all I can ask. When I returned a few days later to pick up my pants I could not believe how white they were and they looked brand new!! No joke!! So my five star review is based on honest and truthful testimony. I have never had a problem with this place and I'm usually very picky. I highly recommend it. read more

Luis has been the Tailor at Grandview Cleaners for more than 60 years, is supremely knowledgeable, and a wonderful hardworking blue-collar representative of ONLY the FINEST in craftsmanship for ALL of your tailoring needs; I bought 4 pair of pants from Galls in Kentucky, which I paid an extra $16 for so-called, 'hemming'; the 2 tan pants were horribly 'hemmed' by Galls, but? in a few seconds, LUIS, at Grandview recognized the same shoddy tailoring from the Galls factory which I saw ! So? I left 3 new pairs of pants with him for all new hemming by LUIS, and 1 more will soon follow ! He had previously tailored a new replacement zipper on an old pair of pants that needed 'saving', as they were still useable, and did a marvelous job of replacement. LUIS is a TAILOR in the original sense of the word...puts his skill, talent and eye for detail to work on EVERY piece he touches. I am ONLY going to Grandview Cleaners from now on. read more

I was using this place to get my stuff hemmed/tailored. It was pretty good and affordable at first but holy smokes he just ruined my 250$ dress and I am really upset. I have been trying to reach them but no response I have also asked to be called back and nothing. This man made a non-stretch dress so tight on me I don't understand how he thought I'd be a able to fit into it. I was so frustrated and the lady at the front insisted that he was a pro... what kind of a pro doesn't consider the fabric of the dress. He had tried to do this to me before when I asked for a button to be put into a blouse .. he suggested I just sew it .. I told him that if I sewed it I wouldn't be able to get in and he kept insisting. Very disappointed with this cleaners. Usually I take my stuff to a place in Santa Monica off Ocean Park but my son's daycare is off Venice Blvd and I get my hair done next door so I thought I'd give it a go. All I needed was a zipper head piece put back on my zipper. I turn it in on a Monday morning and the lady says it won't be ready til 5pm Friday! I was taken aback already. 5 days to attach a zipper pull on a zipper lining that's already there? Not the entire zipper. It's a 5 minute job! Ok I said and my husband returns at 5:30pm on Friday for pick up. He gets there and they tell him they still haven't even started! They ask him to come back before closing at 7! It's already rush hour on a Friday and we live quite a bit away so I was upset. They probably heard me through the phone but oh well, they dropped the ball. They then say give them 20 min and they will do it. Again it's a 5 min job and I'm paying for it. They didn't offer any discount or anything. My husband brings it home and I put the dress on the next day and again the zipper pull falls right off. Can't make up this kind of monkey business. Won't be back. I'll continue to take my stuff to OP cleaners in SM. Live and learn. read more

I don't like writing negative reviews mainly because I know bottom line it will affect their new business, and although on Yelp they are not advertised as tailoring services, their business sign does say it. Today I brought in my suit to have it tailored, and felt insulted and appalled. It was minor, just an adjustment on the jacket to make it tighter around the torso. The tailor, Elena, said it wasn't possible. She'd have to send it in, and the jacket would have to be taken apart. The collar would have to be readjusted, and the shoulders redone. She went as far as to tell me that the jacket wasn't the right size for me (mind you, I have 5 suits and they were all fitted to me at the store and are the same size!). After all that, I knew this wasn't the place for me. But I still wanted to know what the cost of all these alterations would be. Other than saying it was $40 to redo the back, she couldn't quote anything else. Instead said I was better off buying a new suit because the tailoring job would be more a more expensive alternative. At the end she pointed me to the tailor across the street. I ended up taking my business to el rancho cleaners and tailor, where they charged me $20 to make the right alterations. I'll have it back before the end of the week. Moral of the story, they didnt care for my business and treated me as such. Instead of being courteous about it, made it seem my suit was cheap (it's a DKNY suit!), and forced me out the door. read more

They said that they discontinued coupons and advertising on Valpak, so they wouldn't accept it even though the expiration date wasn't for another 2 weeks. It wasn't boxed the day they told me it would be (which is why it was 4 stars) but the dress was perfectly cleaned and pressed. I had several pieces of clothing that were long overdue to be dry cleaned. I live down the street from Grandview cleaners and had a coupon, so I figured - it's convenient for me and I have a coupon. Sold! Now, I had 11 items of clothing both male and female items, in case anyone counts that. And the total after the coupon was like $46 dollars. I guess I don't get my dry cleaning done very often, but I thought it was quite a bit for 11 items - that's over $4 per item. And given the majority was business clothes, mostly shirts, a few skirts. And there was one jacket in there. Again, I don't dry clean that often, so maybe that's reasonable. I dropped my clothes off on a Monday and they said it would be done Thursday after 6pm. I was fine with that, no rush. Picked up the clothes that Friday morning, and they looked great. No complaints. read more

DID NOT CLEAN MY CLOTHES. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!! If you want to ruin your clothes, then bring them to this store. I brought my 100% silk for dry cleaning two months ago, and I did not examine whether they did clean the stains in that cloth. Just about a week ago, I took the blouse out from the closet (still covered with plastic wrap) and shockingly found out, the stains WERE still there!!! They did not clean my blouse at all. I took it back and asked them to clean it soon, while one lady reluctantly agreed to do so. I went back for picking it up today, and found out, the clothes has not been cleaned yet!!! A young guy told me that if they washed it now, my silk blouse might fade in color!!! That put me in a dilemma, because if the stains don't come off, I cannot wear the cloth again. The guy said he wouldn't mind to wear a clothes with stains! (yes, why doesn't he tell customers that they really don't need to spend $ for dry cleaning, when he charge his customers?!) Then I told him, this is one of my favorite silk blouse, and it cost me $120. If they cannot clean it carefully, they should pay me back for what I paid for this cloth. He started to accuse me for not noticing the stains when I picked it up two months ago. Are you kidding me??!!! This is the worst customer service I have ever received! First, they charge you for the poor service, while not doing it, then they start to accuse you for not examining the clothes, when you pick it up. This is outrageous!!! I just don't realize I need to manually check every piece of my clothes to make sure these ppl will do their job! Obviously, I was wrong with this store and their horrible, irresponsible staffs.
