Vegetarian review: My husband and I got the (no meat) breakfast burrito and the Spanish omelet. These were the best we have ever had at a diner. My 5 year old son got the egg and bacon breakfast and ate all of it, which means it was good. He never eats all of his food. We tried this after seeing the decent ratings and being charmed by the name. But this place is really dirty. I wonder if the seating area ever gets cleaned. The floors were covered in food at lunchtime and the bathrooms are gross. It is really run down, which might be ok if it was a cheap, "greasy spoon" type place. But it was definitely not cheap. $12 for an omelette whose "Spanish sauce" was Pace picante sauce did not make me too happy. Just aight for me. Came with family on a busy day. Small quaint place. Not super wheelchair or stroller friendly. Wasn't greeted right away by waitress, however, the nice water girl was attentive. Our lady waitress wasn't very nice to us. Took a while for everything here from ordering food, to trying to get refills, to getting the food, to getting the check, and getting on with our day. Ordered breakfast and while decent I did not like the home fries what so ever. No flavor. Tried to exchange these for hashbrowns and the waitress flipped her lid. Completely unnecessary. I really thought she was gunna go hood on me in the middle of the restaurant. It's like really? Your that irritated someone doesent like the home fries? Relax already. Not that serious. Left a bad taste in my mouth after that. Bill was a little sneaky and trying to charge me extra for items. Not cool. I was extremely nervous to pay with credit card and rightfully so after reading other reviews stating some shady stuff was going on charging more than the bill. Totally not cool. While this food is not the worst I ever had but the sheer fact I was treated a bit out the way coupled with odd charges and others complaints of shady credit card transactions I am not so sure I would oblige this business again. This place looks like grandma's cafeteria/kitchen without a doubt. Lots of owl decor, blue chain linked overhead lights, and an updated flat screen TV. When you walk inside no one seems to greet you or guide you, just find a table and take a seat. Literally. With anyone. This place has better people watching than Wal Mart but otherwise I certainly wouldn't go here for the food! The french toast was soggy and tasted like raw eggs still. My friends omelet was the Spanish omelet which was more like eggs with canned chilies cooked in. Definitely pass this place and try the Breakfast Club down the street instead. read more

Our first time there and we sadly were not impressed! Waited along time for our food the service staff were horrible, barely saw our waitress. Everyone around me were having issues, someone finished their food before the others even got there food and they were there before us! The food is mediocre at best! Salty!! The food is okay at best and the waitresses are friendly but just enough not to let their disgust for the customers show. The biscuits and gravy was very bland and the rest of the meals were just edible. They set a 2 refill max on their coffee purchases and the walls are cluttered (not decorated) with dusty and ugly owl signs and figures. If zero stars were an option that's what I would choose. Good luck getting service!!! We walked in the door and were told to sit wherever we wanted. We sat at the last booth which was filthy. We then sat there and watched the waitress walk by us about 5 times in 10 minutes and never stop to offer a drink or menu. At least two bus boys were working and the table was never cleaned. After about 10 minutes we got up and left without anyone ever saying a word. One waitress from from behind the counter threw a finger up indicating she would be with us in a minute... I think 10 minutes is enough waiting. Apparently grandma doesn't care for her guests. What a terrible experience. This after she is handling money as she is also the cashier. Before the food came out she was scratching her head. Waitress was also eating her dinner in the food serving area instead of dining room. Food did not taste good, no seasoning. Any fast food would have been better. Walked here from our hotel. Wasn't sure at first when we walked in the door, it's an oober casual seat yourself kind of place, which we are not used to choosing where we would like to sit (nice change!). The menu had more to offer than I'd expected for a little "mom n pop" type place, and the food was excellent. Prices were fair and service was great. I got the pancakes and should have had the 2 stack instead of 3 because it was more than I anticipated. My kids had a blast checking out all the owls, and they liked the food too... very glad we chose here instead of Denny's, we were looking for something new and unique for our vacation that we just can't find around home and this fit the bill perfectly! read more

We were looking for breakfast place and found Grandma's Kitchen. First thoughts of quaint and home cooking proved to be correct. Although the place was really busy, we found a place to sit and were helped very quickly. We decided to order a Spanish omelette, breakfast burrito, and pancakes for the kid. The breakfast burrito was slightly different: eggs, Ortega chiles, avocado, onion, and cheese, with sour cream and salsa on the side. The only word of advice is that the egg was almost totally overpowered by everything else; you can usually only tell it's there by looking. Also, the salsa is something like tomato soup due to its warmth and consistency. Other than that, it was perfectly adequate. The Spanish omelette was just like the burrito except it was egg instead of tortilla. The pancakes were absolutely delicious. The were fluffy and the buttermilk was evident to the tongue. In addition, the home fries that came with the adult meals were very good. Unlike many other places, these actually tasted seasoned, not bland or over-salted. While the food was not super spectacular, it served its purpose quite well and warrants another visit, especially for under 30 dollars for two entrees and a kids meal plus drinks. read more
