Veal was tough and waitress forgot the bacon, chicken salad was a scoop of chicken salad not a salad with chicken (again, weird - this is what you'd use to make a sandwich). Have eaten here a few times with my parents who seem to like the food and I've tried to come around on it. Honestly the hamburger steak is pretty good but the vegetables I have gotten (and I've tried a few) taste as if they come from a can. Don't have a fresh taste to them at all. But food wise alone and price I would give the place 3 stars or an average rating. However, the service is why I dip the rating to 2 stars. Understanding that the place is busy and there is a line waiting, the service is hurried at best and rude at worst. I feel like the wait staff hurries you into ordering and delivers the food with basically ZERO personality. None of the food we tried was very good. If you like bad diner food, such as soggy green beans with no flavor, bland potatoes, and chicken, then this is your place. Even the gravy had no real flavor. The prices aren't good and the food doesn't taste fresh. The mashed potatoes taste instant and the gravy is so-so. The wait staff is horrible. They give off this vibe they just want your money and for you to leave as soon as possible. My brother has autism, and one waitress repeatedly sneered at him. Once my grandparents wanted to split a dish, and our server's eyes flashed hostilely at the words "split." I thought she was going to for my grandmother's throat when she requested an extra plate. Would've loved to have tried this restaurant but for two reasons: 1. Customer service had a chip on their shoulder. I am deaf. When I stated I couldn't hear her she literally walked off. When I questioned why, she had SO MUCH attitude! 2. I had a party of 7. They told us we could have a table for 6 and then another table across the restaurant. It was just ok. I ordered the fried chicken with gravy hold the rice. I got a thin piece of industrial chicken with no gravy. Had to ask for gravy. I ordered pinto beans and mashed potatoes as my side. No gravy on potatoes. Pintos had no flavor at all which shocked me because the website warns you that veggies are seasoned with meat. My hush puppies were like rubber which tells me they were microwaved. Sweet tea....not very sweet. Slow service, no smile, hard to get drink refill. Wanted to try peach cobbler but got tired of waiting for waitress. Then took 15 minutes to get our bill. 3 of us at 5pm on a Thursday in November. We won't be back, which is a shame because we really wanted a nice home cooking place to frequent here. read more

Truly enjoyed the crab cakes and homemade tartar sauce. By far the BEST I've ever had. The exterior of the building is rather misleading to the interior decor. We've had our eye on this place for a while. My wife and I both get off at 5:00 M-F so it's kind of hard for us to go during the week. However, we went last night (Monday night) at around 7:00 pm. They close at 7:30. We got seated at 7:25 and they still served us and treated us like they had just opened! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I got the fried steak and gravy with mashed potatoes/gravy, sweet potato casserole and a sweet tea to chase it down. The food came out quickly and hot and fresh. After the first bite, I was hooked and knew this wouldn't be my last trip to Gravy's. The meat was so tender and it was all seasoned so deliciously! Their hush puppies are good too! If you get a chance, get here early (but that doesn't help with wait times) and just enjoy being in a place that will serve you awesome food at an awesome price! Did they change ownership? We enjoyed this homestyle restaurant, but the last few times were average at best. Ever eaten at a mediocre K&W cafeteria? That's what these last few visits reminded us of. Green beans were bland. Mashed potatoes tasted like they were from a box and not from real potatoes. Meat was chewy and stringy. So sad! I have family who lives locally and raves about Gravy. We finally got to go while visiting and we were NOT disappointed. The food was excellent and the portions for both kid's meals and adult entrees were perfect for the price. Service was quick and our waitress was friendly. She was passive aggressive, mean at times, and forgot many items like drink orders and silverware. We were a party of 7 and were sat at two different tables, no big deal, but she passively aggressively made a comment about my mother not knowing what she wanted and how annoying that is...pretty sure we won't ever be going back.
