    Steak tacos

If you're in the mood for a classic diner-style meal with a massive breakfast and lunch menu, this place delivers exactly that. We stopped in on a weekday mid-morning, and while the place was fairly busy, we were seated right away. Service started a little slow, but once our server arrived, things moved smoothly from there. Between our group, we tried the BLT, steak tacos (a current special), the El Diablo Mexican breakfast, pineapple upside-down pancakes, and the jalapeño bacon breakfast. The highlights were the chicken fried steak in the El Diablo (crispy, flavorful, and satisfying), and the fries (came with the BLT and were surprisingly great). The rest of the dishes were as expected, fitting the diner vibe: nothing groundbreaking, but tasted as expected. I've been here a few times, and the experience is pretty consistent- good portions, wide selection, and that nostalgic diner atmosphere. While it may not blow you away, it's the kind of reliable place that keeps you coming back to try something new on the menu. Would definitely return to explore more of what they offer. A solid neighborhood spot for a casual breakfast or lunch.

I can clearly comprehend as to why this eatery is a local favorite. The building is fun, the decor is cool, the food is excellent and the staff are extremely friendly. Our server was a strikingly beautiful woman named Parker. She was fast, efficient, bubbly, personable and simply good at her job. We had drinks within two minutes of sitting down and our order taken within five minutes. Ten minutes after that, we were eating. That's impressive on its own but when you factor in they were wall to wall busy on a Sunday? It's crazy impressive. The overall efficiency of the kitchen staff must be impressive to watch. Our food was traditional American fare and it was made extremely well. My veggie skillet with pancakes was a Denny's type dish but larger, with more fresh veggies. My pancakes were fluffy and perfectly made. The BLT my friend ordered was twice as much food as she eats in a sitting and she had to box it up and take it home. I really enjoyed my breakfast/lunch here and I believe this will be my go to restaurant when I'm in the far north area of Denver.

Great place, great service. Our server Maureen is always happy, remembers our name and what we drink. She is spot on the best waitress here. Kudos to a job well done, when so many don't want to work.

Daniella was our wait person was very personable. My coffee cup never went empty. Food arrived quickly and was hot Plenty of food at a fair price. Restaurant has a 50s theme Great place to meet friends for a great breakfast and conversation. Noise level is fine Does serve alcohol. Has large tables and booths

Classic diner with friendly service and delicious food. Order a burger and the patty melt with onion rings. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The vibe is fun and service is great. Can't wait to come back to try breakfast!

This was our first time coming to the restaurant and we picked it because it was close to where we were shopping. We had no idea that it was kind of a 50s style restaurant. The service was incredible. We walked in and the second we sat down she asked us what we want to drink and brought our coffees over like 30 seconds later. The food took a little longer but that's because it was a Saturday morning and it was really packed in there but the food came out hot and it was delicious!! I think this is now one of our favorite breakfast places to go.

Wow, I'm impressed by this little diner! This is a solid 4/5. The interior is kitschy with 50s nostalgia decor. I came for breakfast, and ordered the strawberry shortcake French toast. This is crazy... it is made with real poundcake! The result was a decadent French toast and not overly sweet. They have vegetarian options and gluten-free bread. (Of note- nothing specifically vegan). The menu is pretty big and includes a Mexican breakfast section. There is a full bar including liquor, beer, and wine. I ordered a Rumchata spiked hot chocolate. It was delicious! I'll be back! This is a great place to come with older folks since they have a special menu with discounted prices for seniors. This is also a great place for kids since there are a lot of fun things to look at. Good place to come for low key brunch, lunch, or dinner!

Diablo burrito was ok, $16 for a burrito filled with frozen country fried steak, not nearly enough green chili or gravy, won't be back

Our waitress was amazing - friendly, made great recommendations, and talked us through the menu, answer all of our questions thoroughly. We ordered the streak tartare app, clearly a staff favorite and they put a unique twist on the standard dish with mushrooms and a divine Dijon mustard sauce. The bread was baked to perfection - crunchy but soft all at the same time. My friend got the salmon, cooked to medium and I got the Jamaican jerk chicken which was not very spicy and contained a lot of flavor. The mango chutney and green mojo combo was complex and paired well with the chicken. My friend devoured she salmon so one can only assume it was delicious! I would highly recommend if you are looking for a date night or dinner with a friend and you're in the Broomfield area, Hickory and Ash is the spot!

I think the best thing about River and Woods is the interior and exterior decoration. It is very clear that a lot of thought and time was put into the atmosphere here. From the cute door knocker to the bathroom wallpaper, the theme is well-executed. The food was a bit disappointing. The blue oyster mushroom appetizer was extremely salty. I thought it was just me but the rest of the table agreed as well. My trout was well-cooked and I enjoyed it quite a bit. The chicken was also salty although cooked well. I did not try the burger but I was told it was salty as well. The prices of all the items were quite high for what I thought was presented. Service was good and thankfully our waters were filled frequently for how much water we were drinking due to the high salt content.

I like that the menu is constantly changing, so I can always try something new. There are usually a few staples, too. The tacos are priced reasonably so you can try several flavors. Every now and then there's one I don't like as much as the others, but that doesn't ruin the experience. The ramen is priced well for the amount you get, too. The only thing I consistently haven't liked is their guacamole. But I do like their avocado and salsas. They have a decent happy hour and, recently added, a "taco Tuesday." The kids menu options are pretty good, too. The hot dogs are a hit. Sometimes the buttered noodles are, too. The tiki drinks are great fun, and they're always trying something new. In the past, they've put lemonades in fun cups (like the hedgehog cup) so our kids can enjoy a "fancy drink." The service is pretty fast and consistent. They bring you a nice jug of water to help yourself with refills.

So it was shocking that I found such a good bowl out here in Erie. I got the Hellfire Ramen, a tonkotsu-based ramen served with their house spicy sauce, chili oil, pork shoulder, and a soft boiled egg. The broth was rich and flavorful, the spice level was perfect (quiet hot but still maintaining a good balance of flavors), and the pork shoulder was tender but still has a bit of nice toothsomeness. Overall, this was an excellent bowl of ramen comparable to any of the top spots in Denver. The only slight downside is that the broth was just a tough too salty for my liking, and I would've preferred a soy marinated egg over a soft boiled egg. They have other ramen here was well, such as a chicken-based shio ramen, a regular tonkotsu, and a Thai curry ramen. I definitely would return to try the other ramen. If the other items on this menu is as tasty, I wouldn't hesitate to give them 5 stars.
