Great Scott's used to be our go to place for diner food. But the past year things aren't as good as they used to be. Now I understand the pandemic changed things and I'm willing to let certain things slide because of it, but today my husband's eggs Benedict was less than to be desired. The egg was hard boiled and the sauce lacked flavor. I ordered a beef & bean burrito and it was decent but small. I also ordered a side of sourdough bread, when I asked the server why there was only one slice, she said she dropped my other piece on the floor and just decided to see if I'd notice! I mean really? We've been going to great Scott's Eatery in Denver for about 5 years. To say the least it's not worth the name. Great Scott's used to have standards . Now from the staff to the food, the cleanliness, non existent,. Between 11 and 1, that's usually when we go, it's definitely not what it was 5 years ago. The staff , from the rotating door to the old timers , what's happening? Staff always on phones, or talking cussing loud enough for guests to hear at booth, and you can always see them eating by coffee pots just hanging out. While tables are waiting to get refills or a condiment or something. The tables and floors are "wiped" and all that falls to floor stays there until the next shift I assume because I've only seen one person sweep up while seating and they must've fired her or she's on vacation. Either way come back. Lastly, no handwashing?!!! We can see right into the line we see a lot including them dirty rags all over the counters . Managers need to make the changes but those managers are only temporary for whatever reasons . Wonder how the original owner feels about how his restaurant is being ran. Sorry I went on and on but that's because I'm not sure we will be returning, the "family" drama is really unacceptable and talking about each other is unpleasant and childish. The menu was huge like I remembered, the green chili just as good but I did not know they serve breakfast all day and have real maple syrup. Food here is usually good. Lots of variety. The only thing I would suggest ( which I have several times in person). The onions they use with home fries and liver and onions are red and should be yellow. Red onions are too strong! Yellow onions are sweet and besides they are not the type of onions that should be used for this purpose. Additionally the onions are bearly cooked/ sautéed which make them less desirable. Also, 90% of the food is cold when I get it. Have better timing, or bring food out as it's ready. My husband likes the chicken Cali and orders it, while I sat watching my food get cold. Think about Great Scotts Eatery in terms of the overall experience. We went on a Saturday night around 6:30 - they were busy but still lots of open tables. Apparently they were short on wait staff because we waited 10 minutes or so to be seated. The place had really emptied out by 7:30. Once seated, our service was pleasant and attentive. It's all a matter of taste, but I love the 50s diner feel. Lots of Elvis. Several flat panel TVs running through pictures and videos of classic muscle cars. Great rock and roll in the background. All the men staff are James Dean. The women, Betty Boop. But other than their t-shirts, not the silliness of Gunther Toody's. The expectable oversized menu. Breakfast, burgers, Mexican food, soups and salads, "diner dinners" and desserts. They serve adult beverages including some interesting sounding concoctions - the "Jalapeno Bacon Bloody Mary" for example. But I suggest you save the adult beverage for home and go with the soda fountain options. Shakes, malts and floats. And soft drinks with cherry, chocolate or vanilla syrup. Still, in the interest of total transparency, I'm deducting a half Yelp star for, egads, serving Pepsi instead of Coke! Is nothing sacred? Food quality was pretty standard diner fare. Hamburger looked great but my wife thought was under-seasoned. Fish N Shrimp was on the top side of average. Buffalo chicken salad was good but definitely not much zing to the sauce. Here's the bottom line - you go to Great Scotts more for the fun experience than for the food. The food is perfectly serviceable, absolutely nothing wrong with it, but at the same time not likely to bring you back for that alone. It's the package that will bring me back. That is, if I can find it. I'm sure the location is perfectly obvious to Broomfield folks, but to me it's not obvious at all, but Waze or Google maps successfully navigated me to and from Golden without a problem. This might be my new local spot! Cool restaurant in old town Broomfield. Many will drive past it and not even notice it. I've frequented the Westminster/Denver location but this one is smaller with a different atmosphere. Old school diner look and feel, 80's music on rotation, good feels all around. The menu is extensive with many food options, but I'd stick with breakfast or lunch items. I had the country fried steak skillet, with extra gravy, of course. T had the massive Fiesta Combo, burrito, chile rellenos, beef taco, tostada and beans. All the servers here are super friendly and each one will come by and check on you. And yes, they serve alcohol! Great Scott's has that classic diner feel, with classic diner food. I have been here several times and there's always something new is like to try. Most recently, I had the breakfast nachos with chorizo, and they were great. The spicy chili wasn't very spicy in my opinion, but the jalapenos compensated for it a bit, so I was happy. They also have great burgers, salads, and breakfast served all day. Plus service is always quite fast, and the staff is always friendly and professional. The only reason I have them 4 stars instead of five is that last time I was here, they still used styrofoam. We ate here after passing by both in the old and new building. The service was terrible. The waitress only came back once after food was dropped off other than dropping off the check. I fell asleep at the table waiting on food but to be fair, we were out late at a concert the night before. The pancakes were dense and chewy with a hint of coffee. We're from out of town and thought it would be fun to go to a diner. The decor was neat but they weren't playing 50's music so it kind of ruined the vibe. We've driven past this place so many times and finally decided to eat there today. It's super cute inside and feels like a classic diner which is reflected in the menu as well. We chose breakfast food and everything was tasty and good bang for the buck! There was a bug in our whipped cream, but our server replaced it right away and it was no problem. I also got an adult spiked shake and while the shake part was good, it was extremely strong and I didn't end up drinking much of it due to the taste of vodka, but I might just be a wimp! Okay so I've been Craving meatloaf since most places seem to have stopped making the so called "comfort food" in the mainland and I've had my eye on this place for over a year. I've been wanting to eat here every time the hub asks where I wanna go and he just doesn't seem interested. I've read good reviews on this place and it always looks so cute and oldies like, just like a real diner. FINALLY the hub's said let's eat here to my surprise, but maybe it's because he new I was mad at him. The only time I get what I want ofcourse..lol So I checked in on yelp and it offered a 20% discount of our bill, which the hub's who's a cheapskate LOVED. Upon walking in I fell in love with the place and the waitress was so very nice and on it. I wasn't hungry until I saw the menu selection and then I was in HEAVEN! Bacon & cheese fries w/gravy - I asked for gravy on them and to have half and half so I could taste the difference. They were both delicious. I brown gravy had more seasoning if you want strong and the white gravey was like biscuits and gravy and lighter. I loved the combination of both. Salads that came with our meals were very fresh and crisp. Meatloaf plate- I got it with mash and veggies and brown gravy...though the meat kinda look like a turd..lol really it did....It was also very delicious on it's own with no gravy or anything. I am officially in love with this place especially since it's about 8 minutes away from me and they open till 10pm. Cornbeef cabbage - oh this was very delcious and the cornbeef didn't have any fatty parts on them. I love the sauce and juices with it. Hubby loved it as well. Strawberry Banana shake - was soo creamy and good.. we split it since there was enough for two. Well needless to say we have found a new place to eat. Finally the wait of going here has ended and made our go to list when we want to eat out for cheap with great food. our bill after the 20% off came out only to $22 and change, soo I told the hubs we have to give extra tip for great service, food, discount and Everything....mmm I can't wait to try their other plates... read more

5 stars for the milkshake 1 star for the food. Got the fish and shrimp meal because fried food I usually a safe bet. I was already sceptical based on other reviews. But this was Terrible. The fish was about as dry as could be. It tasted like it had been frozen for years. And the shrimp...what a joke. I could buy better frozen shrimp at Walmart. Great Scotts had two signs posted on the door and by the host stand stating "We apologize, due to supply chain shortages, some items may be limited or not available." With a sticker of Joe Biden saying, "I caused that". I don't want politics when I eat breakfast, from an economic standpoint, Great Scotts doesn't understand supply and demand. From a purely business standpoint, this is incredibly low and weak minded, telling a percentage of your customers that the way they voted has hurt your establishment, alienating future business and money. If your doing so good as to alienate potential customers, then why blame the president for your lack of business acumen anyway? This should be a place where I can get away from politics and religion, not engage with the waiter over the finer points of how the economy works. read more

Unique decoration, stylish arrangements and a charming professional staff are some of the many awesome things about this place. I think it's particularly fit for intimate gatherings and I myself have enjoyed numerous family breakfasts and hangouts here. The food is also great. There are certain points on the menu that are absolutely not my style but I also have my special go-to entries and they never cease to disappoint. My breakfast companion loved her Tacos Caliente, and I similarly appreciated the Veggie Omelette, which they'll cook up with egg whites if you ask. Had a nice chat with the manager about their use of social media to promote the business. They are always having specials. They offer a 20% discount with your first Yelp check-in, and when I showed mine to the manager, he said they've been trying to take that off of Yelp for some time, which I could believe, but naturally he honored the discount.
