And more on the crunchy side than soft which I didn't mind. Nothing overly special. The Americano was piping hot. Which I LOVE. I can't stand luke warm coffee being served to you. I really like this place near 5th Ave and Rock Center. Of note, it is also near Macchiato Espresso Bar. Gregory's had the usual: Free wifi, small seating areas, some bakery, and friendly baristas. I really liked their medium drip roast (kicking myself for forgetting what it was) and it definitely tasted better than regular old stuff like Pike's Place roast from Starbucks. Location on 44th was horrible. Waited 15 minutes for two small coffees. One iced and one cappuccino. There were 3 girls working and one was taking orders, the other was on her break cooking herself food, and the last was mopping the floor so nobody was even making the orders. Mind you we got there and there was nobody in line before us, so this order should've taken minutes maximum. Ran into this cafe to get a quick cup of joe, and in my opinion, it tasted OK. I ordered a cold brew ($3.60) and definitely can't compete with some of the other coffee places I've had in New York. They roast their own beans and that day, I had their house blend. Didn't really taste much out of the beans and it tasted pretty bland. The place was really spacious and very clean. The obsessive compulsive in me LOVES their display. I don't mind their decor, and it felt clean and inviting enough to eat there; have no idea about their WC. Great spot to grab a coffee. They offer an extensive menu full of hot or iced drinks and even give you the option to add CBD oil to your drink. I like that they have a section dedicated to cold brew based drinks. The service is efficient and friendly. Pretty nice small chain (now it's chain yo, 6 location? yes) coffee shop. I ordered single origin Colombia and it came in a to-go cup after brewed 3 minutes in french press. The taste was awesome. It wasn't bitter and full aroma tinkled my nose. I didn't see Gregory when I visited on weekend but staffs were nice and explained all the questions I had. I will visit here again whenever I'm in downtown NYC. ps) It's much better choice than Starbucks in my opinion just because I like to taste good single origin coffee in black, which doesn't taste bitter at all, but smooth and full or aroma. read more

The coffee at Gregory's is pretty good. It is clearly going well as a micro chain. I have found good consistency across my few visits here. I like this location because it is close to my work, is somewhat spacious and has a sizeable amount of tables (where you can usually get a seat). I find the staff friendly and the baristas quick. They have a large menu and do tea, iced things, PSLs and the whole shebang. My usual order is an almond milk latte. They steam the milk hot enough (not everybody does) and do latte art. I like their branding/logo on the dine in and to-go cups. They are definitely on my mind if I have a hankering for a coffee. I assume they are big enough to have an app but I usually order on RItual because it gives me accumulative points and rewards across an array of food places. read more

I'm not a Gregular*, so this review can't carry the weight that a die-hard customer could bring to the Yelp table, but when they ran out of caramel wafers yesterday and offered me a pastry of my choosing (I went with their version of the apple empanada. Sweet. Flaky. Enough apple to not leave you feeling ripped off. Delish.), I knew what needed to happen. This yelp. I haven't ordered an espresso drink, but because my regular house is oh-so-piping hot I have the feeling I wouldn't have to say "extra hot, please" whenever I do end up ordering a latte or mocha or whatever. Their brew is strong and to be enjoyed. And because there seems at least one seat or standing space available even though there's a steady flow of people (local employees, out-of-towners, foreign tourists), I've been able to do just that. And I'm not sure whether it's because this location is tucked away or there's not a lot of natural light, unlike the one on 6th Ave closest to W31st street, but there's this low-key energy despite all the caffeine and fast-paced but rhythmic work of the well-trained morning crew. Maybe it's because they're a third wave coffee roaster, so they have that vibe about them. Not sure, but I look forward to my weekly visits here. *Seriously, that's what you're called if you come in "too much". I'm a big fan of the Gregory's Coffee chain, having already visited two of their other locations in midtown, I was excited to hear about a new one opening on the East Side! I didn't know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised when I entered to find the biggest Gregory's I've been to yet! The spacious interior has walls lined with photography, the counter is long and along a wall are several seats for customers. Way off in the back you can see through to the kitchen were employees prepare the wonderful baked goods sold by the shop. The staff was very courteous, as I would expect from any Gregory's Coffee. I ordered a "Peanut Pleaser" that day, a smoothie that includes peanut butter, whey protein and soy milk. I've had this a lot at the 39street branch that I frequent, so I was expecting something to be a bit off but nope - it was spot on as delicious as the Peanut Pleasers I've had at the other branches. Like its sibling stores, this Gregory's Coffee also features a menu with their regular brew, Americanos and of course, theyr "slow drip" coffee, which is done right in front of you if you want to watch. During our vacation in NY city, we frequented the usual famous coffee house that I will not mention, as it is a favorite of my son and daughter. One of the best too! Last week had to be in this area of the city for almost 4 days straight and guess what? This Gregory's location made my week! The service is so on-point, very neat and organized store. Baristas are very professional and well-mannered. It really shows that there's a harmony, synchronization & very positive general concept of good customer service, attention to detail in between the stores. Props to management they're doing a very good job with these locations having improved all over the city. The wifi service is over the top and extremely convenient. The store is really fast paced in and out and very busy nevertheless the staff is up to the task and very friendly not rushing orders. Taking their time to get the orders right and offering choices and suggestions to the less knowledgeable coffee drinkers I'd actually got to try the Nutella cold brew it was scrumptious, yayyy for the nutella lovers! I really, REALLY want to give this place 3 stars...but I can't. Their coffee is too good! I came in to meet a friend, and right when you walk in they have a great vibe. It's a really dark space which is a nice break from the brightness all around. The store feels very clean and open, and their delicious looking pastries catch your eye right away. I managed to stick with getting a small soy mocha, which cost me $6???? That was hard to swallow, but then the drink itself was so good I can't be mad. The coffee is super smooth, and their mocha has the perfect chocolate taste without being too sweet. OMgosh. This place is amazing! I was staying at the hotel across the street and went every morning. :) Customer service is great, the people were all very nice. They made the drink perfectly! My macchiatos were perfect everytime. Very smooth and rich and yummy! One thing that I really liked as well was that they were NOT piping hot, I was able to drink it as soon as they gave it to me. Their petite sandwiches are awesome. I had the eggplant one and the bread was soft, the veggies were crunchy and fresh, great small size and comes in a little tube. :) I also had a bagel one morning was was amazing, I didn't even need to have it toasted or anything. The fruit parfait was also great, just a little big for me. I couldn't eat it all. The granola that they use was chunky and a tad sweet. All of these places are pretty much the same menu-wise and taste-wise. What sets one apart from the other for me is the friendliness of the staff, the seating, and the cleanliness of the place. This location had all 3 well in hand. Friendly and helpful server (even watched my drink when I went to the bathroom (which incidentally was very clean), and plenty of comfy chairs and tables (where I sat for awhile). Gregory's is the coffee shop to beat in terms of coffee shops that have numerous locations around the city. I will forever love Gregory's coffee. I will never get why one would get Starbucks if and when there's a Gregory's nearby. The menu offers pretty standard coffeeshop items, but the coffee tastes on point and infinitely better than Starbucks. I'm a big fan of their oat lattes (iced latte with oat milk) in addition to pretty much every other espresso item on their menu. They also have a pretty extensive pastry section - really solid, but it won't change your life. The overnight oats is a homerun though - highly recommend! The service is always really fast, no matter what time of the day you go. The baristas here are friendly and helpful when needed. The mobile ordering is always dependable, and you'll never have to wait longer than the estimated time. Important to note, his location can be easy to miss because the storefront/sign isn't huge. read more

Their vanilla iced lattes are my favorite, but I've gotten a wide range of their drinks and they're all very good. As a whole, their pastries don't disappoint either. Apple fritters? Through the roof. Cinnamon roll? Amazing. The employees at this location are always very friendly and helpful. I listened to a barista explain 6 different drinks to a guy without a single hint of annoyance. I really enjoy coming here on my way to work or during a break. Wait times between ordering and pickup are good! For the area, they have a decent amount of seating, but I still wish there was a little more. It's great that they're right by the park so if the weather doesn't suck you can take your coffee there. read more

The staff worked fast but were friendly, and there were enough seating options for me to be able to pause for five minutes before heading back out.
