I didn't realize this place existed until today and now I wish I had found it sooner! It's a deli/cafe similar to a McAlister's or Panera but a local version. They have lots of soups, salads, sandwiches, and spuds (which looked especially delicious). I ended up picking the Southerner Salad with blue cheese dressing. It had their homemade chicken salad on it, apple slices, walnuts, and lots of dried cranberries. I had a hard time deciding what to get but I'm very glad I picked that salad! It was a great combination of flavors and I appreciate that their menu items aren't the standards, they do mix it up a little bit. The restaurant was very clean, employees kind and helpful, and overall it was a very good experience. The prices are about what you'd expect at that sort of restaurant ($7-$11 mains). However, they did give us significantly larger portions compared to some other local spots with similar prices. And after a long morning at work, a big salad is exactly what I needed! We had a wonderful family meal outside!! We were cheerfully greeted at the cash register where we ordered. Dine in is now available. What a pleasant little gem tucked away off the main roads in Bowling Green! It's worth the extra few minutes drive. Polite wait staff, clean restrooms and restaurant, and the food was delicious. We called in our order and it was ready when we arrived about 10 minutes later. The Italian style panini and Tbird (turkey) panini were exceptional. The chicken salad was also tasty. You know, I'm really glad I gave these guys a second chance.I will admit my first visit here was a little confusing, in terms of ordering (the menu is kinda BIG), but after giving this place another shot I noticed to enjoy Griffs a little bit more. The overall space is pretty open and large with flat screen TV's placed throughout. How this place works is you order and pay at the counter, a number is given to you, and seat yourself. I typically order their ranchero wrap. It's served in either a spinach or wheat wrap and grilled in a panini press - which I actually really like and served with a side. I usually swap the chips for pasta salad - which is mayo based and I usually add extra pepper because I am a pepper monkey. I've had issues with their sweet tea on my first visit but I gave it another go this time around. It was definitely much better this visit, I do wish it was it had a stronger flavor whomp-whomp. Griff's Deli reminds me of a Panera or a McAlister's Deli. The food was good and the staff were very nice. They had a lot of salads, spuds, paninis, wraps, etc. We had the southerner salad, which was amazing, and also the bbq spud. The bbq spud was pretty plain and only came with a little cheese and some bbq on it. There was no sour cream, butter, salt and pepper, or anything else you may like on your baked potatoes. Even with it being a little plain the bbq that came on it was pretty good. I cant forget about the broccoli salad! It was amazing! I was in Bowling Green for work and it was getting on to be 12 pm so I checked my trusty four square for a lunch spot. Griffs came up and I thought I should try it. Ambiance: first thing I noticed was the great ambiance. Light pop music, just the right lighting, and colours do well in this place. Menu: seems a little daunting but after about 20 seconds I decided on a Turkey club which comes with chips and a pickle spear. Also I opted for a soup because it was freezing outside (32 degrees F). Staff: pretty standard "get em in and out the door" attitude. Not rude, but efficient. As a first timer I was not rushed when ordering. Food: the turkey sandwich was good tasting, the turkey was of higher quality-deli quality. The bread was kind of falling apart and the sandwich basically fell apart. Aside from that (because I'm a man and I eat sandwiches with my hands) it didn't bother me too much. The soup: ok I asked the girl what the soup of the day was and she said 'tomato' I'm thinking, great. I'll sit here and shake off this cold weather with a nice hot soup. Well the bowl of liquid they brought looked like brown tomato soup that someone dumped a jar of Worcester sauce in it. And upon tasting it, it sure seemed as if someone did add as much Worcester sauce to it. No really it tasted like a slight hint of tomato soup with a really heaping ton of black pepper in it. I almost gagged. I could not put it in my mouth after several spoonfuls (trying to improve the taste with the crackers provided) no. I was expecting a warm inviting tomato soup and instead got a mouthful of whatever it was they put in this bowl. For a few fleeting seconds I regret coming in here. Wishing I had instead gone to Panera. (Wait, do they have a Panera in Bowling Green? Hmm) Anyway, that soup killed it for me. The sandwich was ok and I did consume it all. The soup was just awful. They should at least warn someone that they have a loose definition of 'tomato soup' when their chefs take their own idiotic spin on traditional soup. An American standard for cold days. I had Griffs cater a training event for work last week. We had 75 people in attendance and everyone enjoyed the meal. The staff was helpful from the time of order to delivery and set up. Griffs made what can often be a difficult experience a great one, we will definitely use them again next time we train in the area. We love stopping at Griffs Deli when we come to visit our daughter in Bowling Green, KY. We like their fresh salads, sandwiches and potatoes. My favorite salad is the Black and Blue salad with fresh Romain mix, steak, blue cheese, pecans and red onion. It usually comes with their own blue cheese dressing, but I prefer it with their also home made balsamic vinaigrette. My husband and daughter like the Summer Salad with mixed Romain greens, strawberries, feta, pecans, chicken and red onions. They are fresh and packed with flavor. Meh - it's fine. I had two sandwiches, two potatoes, two salads, and various sides while filling lunch hours over the course of a week and half while taking a class where everyone was enamored of this place. Even though I'm regularly in that area, can't say that I'm moved to go back. They're busy and handle it well - for made to order, it's not slow, even at peak times. And their portions are unholy large; frankly, they're "this is why people who're starving hate us" large. All drenched in whatever sauce was on whatever one ordered. For realzies. There's just nothing that merits this kind of wastage, since none of it tastes good reheated or day-old. The larger problem is, quantities aside, though their food sounds really yummy, it's just not that great. There doesn't seem to be any seasoning. There doesn't seem to be any focus on quality over quantity. It's all just blah. Or blah with cheese, bacon, and sour cream. (I really don't know how adding cheese, bacon, and sour cream still results in "blah" - but taste it, and you'll know.) Every meal I ate here left me feeling overful and yet unsatistied, despite eating (far) less than half of a single order of food, wasting the rest. Seriously, there are the makings of a great place here, but the current situation is unsustainable.
